Mayor Pete Gets a Lesson in Electric Infrastructure
[Townhall] Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) explained to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Tuesday how President Biden’s "impractical electric car policies" will hurt middle America.

Massie began by explaining that he has driven an electric vehicle for 10 years and even has solar panels on his home, but that the administration’s push for a rapid transformation of our energy sector is unrealistic given the U.S.’s current infrastructure.

Massie, an MIT graduate, ran through some numbers. "The average household uses 1,870 kWh/year for air conditioning," Massie said.

"It would take four times as much electricity to charge the average household's cars as the average household uses on air conditioning. So, if we reach the goal by 2030 that Biden has of of 50 percent adoption, that means the average household would use twice as much electricity charging one of their cars as they would use for all of the air conditioning that they use for the entire year."
Math b hard!
Massie pressed Buttigieg to answer how that would impact the grid.

The former South Bend mayor acknowledged the current grid would not be able to handle it but said work is being done to "map out some of the needs."
Nice plan ya got there, Mr. Transportation Secretary. How much will it cost to upgrade the grid, who will pay for it, and will the greenies allow its construction?

#1  I listened to Dave Smith break this down on the Part Of The Problem podcast. Massie wasn't actually rude to Buttigieg. But it's obvious that this is a politically motivated, non-serious pose by the Biden Administration. I'm guessing if they were serious we'd need to be breaking ground on 100 nuclear power stations right now.

#3  As I said in a previous post, the bastards in power know that the grid will not support all the EVs planned. It's by design to keep us from being able to travel. Much easier to control a population that can't travel

#5  [Massie said] President Biden’s "impractical electric car policies" will hurt middle America.

That's the aim of these Greenie Weenies. They [EV proponents] should be required to get everywhere via bicycles, EVs or on foot. Moreover they need to give up their planes and foot the bill themselves for their greenie transportation.

#6  Peter Buttgig is a miserable twerp who took 8 weeks of unauthorized maternity leave and would have taken more had he not been called by the office. There is no gag in the movie Office Space even close.

Assuming Massie doesn't mean general HVAC, Air Conditioning is really only used in earnest 1/3 to 1/4 of an entire year, depending upon location, all the more damning.

"And a charging station in every corn field."

Imagine, you have just a few days of the right weather for harvest, and your grain train travels from the shed to the field and you are already at half power. Look up the migration routes of custom cutters, and imagine them stopping every 100 miles for 2 hours. Then imagine those 2 hours count against the number of allowable driving hours per day, plus whatever the waiting time for an open charging station.

All those heavy electrical wires and nodes just sitting out there in tornado alley, collecting ice in the winter, sparking when the wind blows.

How President Biden's advanced age, neurological issues, heart condition and past history of cancer all put the 79-year-old in the severe risk category for COVID
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Buffoon in chief
  • President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House confirmed on Thursday morning

  • Biden, 79, may be at an increased risk of severe infection because of his older age, neurological issues and high blood pressure

  • He has received four COVID-19 vaccine shots, though, and is being treated with Paxlovid - significantly reducing his risk from the virus

  • Omicron is a relatively mild strain of Covid as well - with the mortality rate of people currently infected significantly lower than previous variants

Government Corruption
National Security Crisis After Biden Lets CCP Build Near North Dakota Military Base
[Republic Brief] Concerns in Grand Forks, North Dakota, over a Chinese Communist Party-linked agribusiness are mounting with their plans to build a corn mill that is feared to pose national security risks for the country because of the company’s planned proximity to a top military base in the state.

Fufeng USA, a global bio-fermentation company, plans to use the corn mill facility to extract ingredients that go into animal nutrition feed products sold in the North American market.

While some local politicals see jobs and money for the local population, a few US lawmakers are growing very uneasy about bigger problems, like the potential access China would get to America’s military secrets while in the location.

"It’s 370 acres near Grand Forks, North Dakota, which is in the heart of the Red River Valley. In other words, it’s very productive farmland. Also importantly, it’s about 12 miles from Grand Forks Air Force Base, which is a very sophisticated Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) base. They fly Global Hawks.

We just put in a new ground station for the first tranche of satellites by the Space Development Agency. So it’s a vital uplink downlink data center at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Proximity both to the important farmland and to an important airbase make this particularly problematic," US Senator for North Dakota Kevin Cramer said in a statement from his office.

"I’m more broadly concerned by the fact that China can come in and continually make investments and buy property, enter into our food supply chain right here in the United States. Remember, during the pandemic, it was discovered that China’s ownership of meat processing in the United States made our meat supply vulnerable.

Homeland Security inspector general launches CRIMINAL probe into missing Secret Service texts - as new watchdog report shows agency knew about messages but didn't tell January 6 panel
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The Homeland Security Inspector General's office told the U.S. Secret Service's office that its probe into the missing text messages is now criminal

  • Also instructed the agency to halt all internal investigations

  • Two whistleblowers who worked under Trump-appointed Inspector General Joseph Cuffari claim watchdog didn't report February findings to Congress about the purge

  • The January 6 select committee subpoenaed the Secret Service for agents' texts from around the day of the Capitol riot

  • Agency claims the texts were deleted as part of a device-replacement program
“To ensure the integrity of our investigation, the USSS must not engage in any further investigative activities regarding the collection and preservation of the evidence referenced above,' DHS Deputy Inspector General Gladys Ayala wrote in a letter to Secret Service Director James Murray on Wednesday evening, according to the Wednesday report.

#1  The way I understood this is that the Secret Service got new phones for their gents and they reset all the old phones to their default factory settings, wiping all text, email, third party apss, etc..

In which case the original texts would be found on the new phones.

This is just kabuki creature on the part of the democrats.

Biden admin says climate change can ‘force' military intervention
[American Military News] On Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s administration said climate change can "force" military invention after once again calling it a "national security issue."

John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council, said during a press conference that climate change is a "driver of actual missions" because it creates "instability" and "insecurity."

"It’s a driver of actual missions, because climate change creates instability, which creates insecurity in some places. And you can end up — the fighting in Syria started, really, as a result of a drought. And so, there’s — there’s a — it can actually drive military missions and force the military to become involved in places and at times where they wouldn’t have had to otherwise," Kirby said.

Kirby said climate change impacts the U.S. military’s readiness "because our — our troops, our sailors, our Marines, our airmen, our Coast Guardsmen are being called out for — to respond to natural disasters, which are getting worse because of climate change."

He also claimed that climate change can "affect our infrastructure," adding that military bases like Norfolk Naval Base have invested "millions of dollars to try to improve their infrastructure because of rising sea levels."

"So it has an impact on our infrastructure. It has an impact on our readiness, because you — and you’re seeing it now, even in the wildfires, where so many National Guardsmen are being called out," Kirby said. "And — and God love them for that, but they’re — those are important tasks and missions, but it takes away from other tasks and missions when it comes to defending the United States."

Kirby said President Biden believes climate change is a "very important issue for our own national security."

"And we’re going to — we’re going to treat it that way," he concluded.

Senate Democrats introduce bill to federally decriminalize and tax marijuana after Biden said no one should go to jail for using cannabis
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Biden proclaimed at a July 16 press briefing: 'I don't think anyone should be in prison for the use of marijuana. We're working on the crime bill now'

  • Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Schumer first proposed a pot bill over a year ago but did not release text until Thursday

  • The bill expunges federal cannabis-related records and sets up funding for law enforcement to fight illegal cannabis production

  • It would require the DOT to research and develop a standard for marijuana-impaired driving and restrict marketing the drug to minors
The legislation, called the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, has a slim chance of passing the Senate, but portions of the bill could find their way into other packages that have a shot at passing before the end of the year.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has set up a hearing titled: 'Decriminalizing Cannabis at the Federal Level: Necessary Steps to Address Past Harms' for next week.

The legislation includes priorities sought by Democrats and Republicans: it expunges federal cannabis-related records and sets up funding for law enforcement to fight illegal cannabis production.

#3  Getting the license and coming up with the scratch for an initial investment to open and maintain a legal pot shop is a bit of a stretch for many of the folks who would be inclined to sell the stuff for a living. In California, the legislature actually passed a bill to allocate several million dollars to help these people with their paper work because the state wasn't seeing as much tax revenue as they expected. Maybe you could call that an investment but I don't how if there has yet been any return on it. But then, I'm sure Brandon would have no qualms about signing such a bill at the federal level.

No wonder Omineling Forkbeard1962 is setting fire to straw men. That’s almost as misinforming as reading the New York Times.

Utter idiocy. There is no need for a law legalizing contraceptives nationwide when they are already legal nationally due to longstanding FDA approval. Now if you are talking about chemical abortifacients, that is a question to be decided by the various states; but those only are useful if the perfectly legal contraceptives and condoms failed to work or were not used. But I just read that on university campuses around the country girls are lining up to get IUDs so that they needn’t take the risk of being unprepared when the moment comes.
