Biden Admin Quietly Admits Math Error Is Causing Massive Oil, Gas Permitting Delays
[DailyCaller] The Biden administration privately acknowledged in late April that a mathematical error is delaying the federal offshore oil and gas program, in a letter to industry leaders.

Richard Spinrad, the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), said a subagency "discovered a miscalculation" that has caused a massive backlog in permitting, in the April 29 letter obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. Spinrad acknowledged the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) — the subagency tasked with analyzing the impact of offshore drilling projects on wildlife — has used faulty modeling on such impacts and, as a result, overestimated wildlife effects, delaying permitting on existing leases.

"NMFS understands the concerns of industry and is working with [the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)] to expeditiously develop ... revised regulations," Spinrad wrote in the letter to the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA). (RELATED: ’I’m Not Going To Respond To That’: Biden Cabinet Officials Can’t Get Their Story Straight On Energy Production)

The NOAA administrator’s letter came in response to an April 5 letter from NOIA, the American Petroleum Institute and the EnerGeo Alliance, warning that energy producers had experienced significant permitting delays. In particular, oil and gas companies have reported delays in obtaining letters of authorization (LOA) from the NMFS to conduct pre-drilling activity, including seismic surveying and geological exploration, in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Biden administration implemented the faulty modeling through an April 2021 regulation, according to the industry groups. A spokesperson for the Department of Commerce, which oversees NOAA and NMFS, said Thursday that the administration was "working to consider all possible solutions to expedite the rulemaking process to the greatest extent possible."

"NMFS is also engaged with affected members of industry and with industry trade associations as it considers both short-term and long-term solutions," the spokesperson told TheDCNF in an email. "The Commerce Department understands the concerns of industry and is working expeditiously to address the incorrect data it received for the initial rule and to proceed in earnest with the revised rule."

The spokesperson didn’t answer a question about the current size of the permit backlog.

"Gulf of Mexico seismic permitting delays — when coupled with the lack of progress on a new five-year offshore leasing program and the continuation of a multi-year gap in Gulf of Mexico oil and gas lease sales — undermine the predictability companies have relied on to make multi-billion-dollar investment decisions in the Gulf of Mexico," NOIA President Erik Milito told TheDCNF in a statement.

"At a time when energy issues are at the forefront, NMFS should address the problems as quickly as possible," Milito continued. "Companies must be able to continue to explore for and develop hydrocarbon resources in the Gulf of Mexico."

Milito and other industry leaders have warned the delays have "commercial, operational, and safety implications."

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and 19 fellow GOP senators wrote to the Department of Commerce Tuesday, expressing concern about the permitting delays caused by the mathematical error. The lawmakers demanded that the administration issue a new rule immediately, fixing the issue.
We have our top men in the government. Top men.

Fauci Recommends Stopping Spread Of Monkeypox By Covering Eyes, Ears, Mouth
[Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Monkeypox pandemic has finally breached the shores of the United States, with the CDC confirming a staggering 1 infections so far. In response, America's favorite, most trusted doctor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, issued a statement recommending people stop the spread of Monkeypox by covering their eyes, ears, and mouth.

Fauci accepted 137 TV interviews and a book deal after issuing the guidelines essentially recommending people look the other way rather than investigate the source of this new outbreak.

"As I, the Science, have always said, lockdowns don't work. What really works is turning a blind eye to where this outbreak nonsense may or may not have leaked from," said Dr. Fauci to a fawning NBC news anchor trying to get his autograph. "And I'd like to add that there is no evidence the Monkeypox outbreak is connected to the NIH-funded Institute of Monkeypox Studies next door to patient zero."

Not all health professionals agree with Dr. Fauci's health order. Dr. Corry Larreia, a world-renowned monkey virologist and respected expert in finding the source of Monkeypox outbreaks, said Dr. Fauci was wrong and the outbreak should be investigated in full.

At publishing time, Dr. Larreia had been disbarred, lost his virology license along with his official stethoscope, was banned from his local book club, snubbed by Apple's Siri, and lost both of his hands in a tragic wood chipper accident.

International-UN-NGOs
Sweden, Finland, NATO, and Turkey
[YouTube] Most NATO members have met Finland and Sweden's joint application for membership with open enthusiasm. The US, UK, France; even the Italians and Greeks are cheering, in a rare moment of pan-European positivity.

But not the Turks. Long kept at arm's reach from EU-membership (including by self-appointed human rights stewards like the Swedes), Ankara is going to savor its ability to make Sweden and Finland's ascension process be as much about Turkey's needs as it is about Russia.

The Turks aren't just being spiteful for spite's sake.

Turkey and Greece were the first states to gain membership in an expanded NATO in 1952, joining the 12 member nations who formed the bloc in 1949. In addition to being one of the bloc's longest-standing members, Turkey (not unrealistically) views itself as one of NATO's most strategic. Its geography, particularly the control of the Turkish Straits, affords Ankara outsized influence over the Black Sea, the Danube Basin, and the Eastern Mediterranean. Ankara also happens to have the bloc's second-largest army, second only to the United States. Turkey isn't just cribbing from a Rodney Dangerfield act when it angles for more respect from its supposed Western allies; it is an important partner and now has the geopolitical heft to make sure everybody knows it.

Ankara is also one of a handful of countries around the world that is willing, able, and actively seeking to establish itself as a meaningful regional power. Turkey's neighborhood (especially along its southern and eastern borders) has always been...spicy. The Turkish state's long-standing conflict with Kurdish separatists has been an easy target of criticism for its European neighbors. But now Turkey gets to point the finger at countries like Sweden, who it claims is doing too much to encourage Kurdish separatist militias in places like Syria. Ankara is well within its rights to claim how it can be expected to call Sweden its ally, when Stockholm's actions risk directly threatening the security and stability of the Turkish state.

Turkey also famously straddles Europe and Asia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. We should not be surprised that a country that shares land borders with Bulgaria and Iran, Greece, Georgia and Armenia has a different worldview than the northern Europeans or Portugal. Or that a country that borders the Syrian Civil War, the remnants of Iraq and an intensifying Azerbaijani/Armenian conflict is going to have different security realities than the land of Ikea, H&M and Volvos. And here we see how one of NATO's strengths--its size--complicates its ability to move swiftly as a unified bloc.

Is Turkey going to use its veto authority to block Sweden and Finland from joining NATO? I think the more important question is whether or not Sweden and Finland are ready to recognize and respect Turkish security prerogatives as being as legitimate as their own concerns over Russia.

Stop The Denial: Ukraine Is A Proxy War That Will Lead To Wider World War
[Alt-Market.US] At the onset of the Russian incursion into Ukraine I argued in my article ’Order Out Of Chaos: How The Ukraine Conflict Is Designed To Benefit Globalists’ that US boots would be on the ground within a few months. I was wrong — As it turns out, US and European military boots were ALREADY on the ground. Ukraine was a proxy war from the very beginning.

But what is a proxy war, really? It means that Russian troops are fighting Ukrainian soldiers that are intermingled with western "advisors" and most likely US and European special forces, not to mention US intelligence operatives utilizing all the information gathering technology at the disposal of the Department of Defense. In other words, Russian soldiers are being killed by Western assets. Some pro-Ukraine people might ask why this is a problem?

To understand the gravity of this situation we have to first examine the historical significance.

The closest event in history that I could approximate Ukraine to is Vietnam, when communist elements within the country were receiving constant aid, weaponry and even some troops from China, along with monetary and technological aid from the Soviet Union. Vietnam was essentially a "safe" arena or cage match between the West and Communism; a place where the paradigm players could fight it out without risk of a larger nuclear exchange. The globalists could sit back, relax and watch the show while Americans sacrificed their lives over a conflict that did not need to exist.

Ukraine is similar, but the stakes this time are much higher. This is probably why the mainstream media and the White House have been in full denial that Ukraine is a proxy war at all, and have consistently downplayed the complex involvement of Western military assets. The fact is that Ukraine would have fallen completely by now had it not been for the fact that Russia is not really facing Ukraine; it is facing a proxy force of US and European support elements feeding intel, weaponry and likely direct kinetic support.

In my article ’Ukraine Learns The Value Of An Armed Citizenry, But Far Too Late,’ published on March 2nd, I noted that the Ukrainian "militia" programs being instituted at the last minute while Russia troops swiftly marched across the Donbass were a side show. The media was acting as if citizens with no more than a couple of weeks of training were going to make some kind of difference in the war; this was nonsense. In my view, the insurgency narrative was meant as cover for well trained Western assets already in place with advanced anti-tank and anti-aircraft technology. As I stated in that article:

#3  I don't need to buy the book. It's been perfectly obvious from the get-go that the two primary belligerents are Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin. Of course you understand that by "Joe Biden" I mean whatever bunch of Deep State globalists are pulling his strings. They want regime change in Moscow just like the regime change they engineered in Kiev back in 2014...just like Kosovo, Iraq, Libya, etc. It's what they do.

#4  If I had to guess right now, I'd say these globalists have about a 50-50 chance in their bid to depose Putin. But what then? Maybe Russia will end up like Libya. Who will end up with control of Russia's nuclear arsenal? Someone who is "better" than Putin or someone who is worse? Maybe the globalists have someone in mind but who knows? I guess we just have to trust them.

#9  #4 I'd say these globalists have about a 50-50 chance in their bid to depose Putin.

Where'd you get that number? Based on what evidence?
Who would replace him -- Navalny? Navalny is a fervent Russian nationalist who was 100% in favor of annexing Crimea. So is nearly everyone in Russia.

Or do these deluded fantasists think the Pu$ sy Riot girlz will depose him? By killing with their qu!ms?

#10  The whole idea is to trigger a wider war and invade Russia. Not just regime change, but the breakup of Russia into smaller states easily dominated by banks.

And then, the refugee airlift starts. Massive relocation of population from ME/Africa to the former territory of the Russian Federation. The replacement of the Rus people with immigrants. Russia will never be a threat again.

Then, Iran, Venezuela, China and any other leftovers. The way will be clear for a global governance. Bye-bye US Constitution!

Battle within the Agency. Old hands trying to rein in the neocon punks. Friedman leaks against the leakers:

"...from everything I have been able to glean from senior U.S. officials, who spoke to me on condition of anonymity, the leaks were not part of any thought-out strategy, and President Biden was livid about them. I’m told that he called the director of national intelligence, the director of the C.I.A. and the secretary of defense to make clear in the strongest and most colorful language that this kind of loose talk is reckless and has got to stop immediately — before we end up in an unintended war with Russia."

The departure of oil majors also means an erosion in capabilities for Russian projects.

"Western companies brought in a lot of technical competence to Russian projects and their departure might impact the progress of projects," said another person. "Without them, it might be challenging to maintain efficiency in some of the projects located in harsh geographical conditions."

Afghanistan
Ankara Gathering of Political Figures Forms the Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] At a meeting in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, a number of politicians who have been in exile from Afghanistan when the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
reclaimed power agreed to form the Supreme Council of National Resistance® for the Salvation of Afghanistan.

The meeting took place on Tuesday night, May 17th, at Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
’s Ankara residence, the leader of Afghanistan’s National Islamic Movement.

Participants included Abdul Rashid Dostum, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Abdurrab Rasoul Sayyaf, Atta Mohammad Noor, Mir Rahman Rahmani, Mohammad Alam Ezedyar, representatives of Salahuddin Rabbani and Ismail Khan, and others.

The declaration called armed resistance against the Taliban in Panjshir, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Kapisa, Samangan, and other parts of the country "legitimate," and appealed for support for the resistance.

Participants in the meeting stated that the Taliban had "aggressed and killed people" in defiance of all religious principles and humanitarian conventions, and that people had been forced to defend their lives and property in various regions of the country.

Article 2 of the declaration urges the Taliban to refrain from causing further "damage and devastation" in the country and to return to the negotiating table to settle the current issues.

According to the article, the Taliban should be aware that, historically, no group has been able to establish a stable government in Afghanistan through coercion and violence.

The "exclusive and usurper rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan" will result in widespread crisis and turmoil, and this situation will not benefit the neighboring countries or the region. The declaration stated, "Only a united Afghanistan and has a stable democratic system based on justice and equality can ensure their [neighboring countries’ and region’s] interests."

The Taliban, on the other hand, has established the Return and Communications with Former Afghan Officials and Political Figures Commission.

Inamullahullah Samangani, a Taliban spokesperson, told the BBC’s Khalil Noori that the Communication Commission set up to organize an Afghan conference had finished contacting political figures and that some of them had made commitments to attend, albeit he did not name the attendees.

Tajik Military launches ‘anti-terrorism’ Operations on Afghan Border
[KhaamaPress] Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry has announced the commencement of "anti-terrorist" military operations on the Border with Afghanistan and China to combat terrorism.

Rooters also reported on Wednesday, May 18th, that the operation was launched in Gorno-Badakhshan region near the Tajik border with Afghanistan and China.

Several days of protests in Tajikistan’s Badakhshan province preceded the operation. The demonstrators claim that the governor and mayor of Badakhshan failed to appropriately prosecute the death of a civil activist in police custody, and that they should resign as a result.

Several protestors were hurt in conflicts between police and protesters, according to eyewitnesses. The Tajik Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that one protester was killed and three coppers were maimed during the protests.

Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry has alleged that the protests in Badakhshan region are being organized by "international terrorist groups" that provide firearms and ammunition to Tajik demonstrators and their representatives in order for them to "carry out terrorist acts."

Protesters, on the other hand, claim that their actions are nonviolent mostly peaceful and protected by the law.

Tajik opposition groups overseas have appealed to Tajik officials to stop "suppressing peaceful protests" in Badakhshan.

The Afghanistan Freedom Movement Group Claims Responsibility for Today’s Explosion of Mazar-e-Sharif
[KhaamaPress] Tahreek-e-Azadi Afghanistan (Afghanistan Freedom Movement) grabbed credit for an attack on the 209th AlFath Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Corps convoy in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province.

An explosion occurred this morning, Thursday, May 19, in Mazar-e-Sharif Sharif’s 5th district, and it is believed that the target of the earth-shattering kaboom was a Taliban army convoy, leaving three people maimed.

Mohammad Asif Waziri, a front man for the Taliban police office in Balkh province, reported hours later that a vehicle carrying civilian personnel of the 209th AlFath Corps had been attacked, injuring three people. The injured were then taken to the corps hospital.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
according to Khalid Pasoon, a front man for the Tahreek-e-Azadi Afghanistan, at least ten people were killed and twelve were maimed in the incident.

He described the attack as the result of a magnetic mine explosion.

He further said that the blast completely destroyed a truck transporting Taliban forces.

Pictures of the mini-bus carrying Taliban forces were also released on social media after the earth-shattering kaboom, and the picture shows the vehicle being completely destroyed.

Several other groups, in addition to the Resistance® Front and the Tahreek-e-Azadi Afghanistan, have announced their presence, and their attacks on the Taliban have increased in recent weeks.

Interior Ministry Cracks Down on Human Trafficking to Iran
[ToloNews] The Ministry of Interior has ordered all paths be blocked that are used for human trafficking to Iran.

Many young people said they are struggling with severe economic conditions, and this crackdown will only cause more problems.

Mohammad Nabi, a resident of Kapisa, and his family came to Nimruz province and are living in a small hotel.

"We were unable to purchase passports and visas. Now when we arrived in Nimroz, the Islamic Emirate closed the borders. Where can I go with these children I have with me?" he said.

Many young people arrived in Nimroz province seeking to cross the border to Iran. They called on the Islamic Emirate to provide job opportunities in the country.

"There is no opportunity for work. Everyone is forced to leave the country to find food," said Hashmatullah, a resident of Kapisa.

"I am not happy about leaving the country but I am obliged to," said Faqir Ahmad, a resident of Kapisa.

The department of Refugees and Repatriation of Nimruz said that the Ministry of Interior ordered all border forces to prevent human trafficking in a bid to stop the illegal migration of citizens to the neighboring countries.

"Afghanistan is going toward development, and the Afghans must try to spend their energy on the development of their own country," said Sadiqullah Nasrat, head of the department.

#1  What is described does not sound like human trafficking although there may be human trafficking in the full article. For refugees, you would have to live in a terrible place for Iran to be the Oz at the end of your yellow brick road. Iran is, unfortunately, surrounded by terribly poor countries. The Taliban Orders Female TV Presenters to Cover Their Faces with Masks During Performances
The Taliban’s stepwise removal of females from the public square continues.
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
’s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice has issued a new directive requiring female presenters on television to wear masks.

The order was officially announced on Wednesday, May 19 by Taliban Ministry of Interior agents to MOBY Group television channels, including TOLONews.

Officials in charge of the communiqué instructed female MOBY Group presenters and operators that the order was "indisputable" and should be considered without any debate.

Female presenters with masks have appeared on the MOBY Group’s TV networks since yesterday, in accordance with the Taliban’s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice strict order.

The Taliban’s latest edict comes after the group’s previous edict to "make hijab mandatory," raising concerns about the implications of both orders to women’s rights. A number of women reacted to the adoption of the decree on mandatory hijab, protesting in Kabul streets, raising their voice.

The new directive is not surprising given that the Taliban have already implemented a gender segregation policy in restaurants and parks as well as the fact that the issue of reopening the girls’ schools yet remains unsolved.

There have been objections, with some social activists claiming that the Taliban’s measures are intended to keep women out of society.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Justice coming for the ‘Dirty 51' Hunter Biden laptop liars
[NYP] One of the most galling aspects of the Hunter Biden laptop saga is that the 51 former intelligence officials who played such a critical role in suppressing The Post’s stories and giving Joe Biden cover before the 2020 election have never been brought to account.

The "Dirty 51" lied by painting our stories as Russian disinformation in an Oct. 19, 2020, letter they signed and delivered to Politico five days after The Post exposé and three days before the final presidential debate of the election campaign.

They used the institutional weight of their powerful former roles to legitimize partisan political propaganda designed to smear The Post and everyone associated with the story and dissuade the rest of the media from looking deeper into the laptop.

The letter, titled "Public Statement on the Hunter Biden emails," and signed by former CIA Directors John Brennan, Leon Panetta and Mike Hayden, former acting CIA Director Michael Morell, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and other ex-spooks, claimed the material on Hunter’s hard drive "has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation," although not one of them had seen it.

Their lie "probably affected the outcome" of the 2020 presidential race, as former Attorney General William Barr has said, describing the letter as "partisan hackery," "baseless" and signed by "a coterie of retired intelligence officials who had lost their professional bearings."

Yet they have never apologized or retracted their lie. In fact, when The Post contacted the group in March, after the New York Times belatedly acknowledged the laptop was real, some, like Clapper, doubled down.

#1  I utterly believe the intent of those 51 signatories to the letter (some of whom had careers worthy of actual respect) was to stop Trump by using their implied experience and wisdom to debunk the Hunter Biden story. I also believe many were always partisans whose experience was created by appointment, not a lifetime in the business. But sadly, the precise language of the statement they issued will protect them from any accountability beyond damage to their credibility and labeling as compromised sources.

This is the actual language from the letter:
"We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have
evidence of Russian involvement -- just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the
Russian government played a significant role in this case. If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this."

The alibi is proof against liability beyond poor judgement, and the subsequent media stories about the NYP allegations being disproved are all spin about the actual letter answering the allegation.
Its dirty tricks by inference, and abuse of public trust, but I doubt it is actionable beyond public embarrassment.

#5  It appears to be actionable. Trump's lawyer Parlatore is pursuing multiple lines of attack. First, the CIA chiefs clearly failed to run their letter through the pre-publication security review process. Second, it's obviously a major campaign favor, so there's a strong case it was in effect an "in-kind" campaign contribution.

International-UN-NGOs
US announces additional funding to respond to global food insecurity
[Garowe] At the UN Security Council’s Ministerial on Food Security today in New York, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced nearly $215 million in additional humanitarian assistance to address the global food security crisis, which has been exacerbated by Russia’s war on Ukraine and its corresponding impact on global markets.

Even before the war began, approximately 768 million people were chronically hungry. This new crisis has only made an already dire situation significantly worse, with as many as 40 million people projected to be pushed into poverty and food insecurity through the end of the year.

This additional support, provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will expand emergency food security operations in several countries already facing food insecurity as a result of conflict, drought, and other natural disasters, including Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...

, Kenya, Nigeria, Zim-bob-we, and Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
In addition to announcing new humanitarian food assistance funding, the United States will issue a Roadmap for the Global Food Security Call to Action to reflect the outcomes of the ministerial-level meeting, outlining the commitments that countries have made to address these challenges.

With today’s announcement, the United States has provided nearly $2.6 billion in emergency food assistance since Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine began on February 24. This includes nearly $1.7 billion in humanitarian assistance to respond to worsening food insecurity around the world.

It also includes USAID and the U.S. Department of Agriculture taking the extraordinary step to program the full balance of the Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust as part of an effort to provide $670 million in food assistance to six countries facing severe food insecurity: Æthiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Yemen.

The United States is continuing to scale up assistance to respond to this crisis by increasing emergency food assistance in countries that have high levels of food insecurity and are vulnerable to price shocks.

"We are also continuing to call on other donors to increase funding to prevent this global food security crisis from getting even worse and use data analysis to project the potential impacts of the crisis on countries with existing humanitarian emergencies," said USAID.

Philippine military: 2 suspected Muslim militants killed in Mindanao shootout
[BenarNews] Government forces killed two runaway bully boys, who were suspected of supplying firearms to Moslem holy warrior groups in the southern Philippines, during a shootout in Mindanao and arrested two other suspects afterwards, military officials said Thursday.

The Army’s 6th Infantry Division, based in southern Maguindanao province, identified the slain suspects as Datu Romah Malang Mastura (alias Mamako) and Ebrahim Samama.

They died in a brief firefight that broke out as government soldiers and drug enforcement agents conducted a counter-narcotics operation in the town of Pigcawayan on Wednesday, said Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, the regional military chief.

"The exchange of fire lasted for about five minutes which resulted in the death of Mastura and Samama and the enemy withdrew towards the south direction," Uy told BenarNews.

The military identified the two suspects who were taken into custody after the shootout as Guiahed Akmad Toting and Ali Kamsa Guilay.

Mastura and Samama were among several inmates who had beat feet from a heavily secured prison facility in nearby Kidapawan City in 2017. Intelligence operatives had tracked their movements since then, and their group allegedly had widened its criminal operation to include drug trafficking and selling firearms to local groups allied with Islamic State

holy warriors.

The military said the two slain were among its list of "high-value targets" in the war against drugs. Authorities recovered from the scene an assortment of rifles and guns as well as six heat-sealed plastic sachets, containing meth drug paraphernalia.

The group to which the suspects belonged also was "providing finances and arms and other logistics support" to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters

and Daulah Islamiyah bully boy groups in the province, military officials said.

BIFF is a splinter group from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a separatist group that has signed a peace pact with Manila, while the DI is the local arm of so-called Islamic State group.

The incoming administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. should expect a persistent presence of gangs trying to advance their cause for a separate Islamic state in the Mindanao region, according to Rommel Banlaoi, a counter-terrorism analyst at the Philippine Institute for Peace, Violence and Terrorism Research.

"There are still few Moslem personalities opposing the government. They want full separation," Banlaoi told BenarNews.

"Those active murderous Moslems are remnants but there are new emerging leaders still aligned with the Islamic State," he added.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
Banlaoi noted that the numbers of BIFF and Daulah Islamiyah members are dwindling due to efforts to counter the financing of terrorism to mount attacks.

Other Daulah Islamiyah cells have worked with a faction that was behind a five-month siege of Marawi, a city in the southern Philippines, by pro-IS Filipino fighters and murderous Moslems from other countries in 2017.

BNDF vacated Gololey base earlier on Saturday. Troops from Gololey were deployed in other bases to reinforce just after the al-Shabaab snuffies raided one of the bases in El-Baraf, leaving at least 30 Burundian soldiers dead according to military reports.

According to the VOA, the decision by the US to deploy troops to Somalia, however, became increasingly unpopular with U.S. military officials, who complained of having to "commute" to work, and with some Somali officials, who saw al-Shabaab's forces grow in the absence of a persistent U.S. presence.

"This was a wrong decision taken. The withdrawal was a hasty decision," a senior adviser to Mohamud told VOA, ahead of the official announcement on Tuesday.

"It disrupted counterterrorism operations," said the Somali adviser, who asked not to be named because his position in the administration has not yet been made public. "To reinstate and start with the new president is the right decision, and it came at the right time."

U.S. officials, explaining the decision to deploy fewer than 500 troops to Somalia as part of what they describe as a persistent presence, agreed that the cost of waiting any longer would be high.

Al-Shabaab "has unfortunately only grown stronger" since the December 2020 decision to no longer maintains an ongoing U.S. military presence in Somalia, a White House official said Monday, speaking on the condition of anonymity in order to discuss the new authorization.

Al-Shabaab "has increased the tempo of its attacks, including against U.S. personnel," the official said. "We're concerned about the potential for al-Shabaab's upward battlefield and financial trajectory to generate more space for the group to plan and ultimately to execute external attacks."

Egyptian security forces foil suicide bombing attempt against checkpoint in North Sinai
[AlAhram] The Egyptian security forces have foiled a suicide kaboom attempt by a terrorist against personnel stationed at a police checkpoint in El-Telol district in North Sinai, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior on Thursday.

The security personnel killed the terrorist after an exchange of fire, noted the statement, adding that an boom belt, two grenades, an automatic weapon, four magazines, and 112 bullets were found in his possession.

The ministry said all legal measures have been taken and that the country's Supreme State Security Prosecution is investigating the incident.

In the past several years, Egypt has been battling Death Eaters in North Sinai, who carried out deadly attacks on police and Armed Forces checkpoints as well as civilians.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
in 2018, the Armed Forces launched a major counter-terrorist drive dubbed "Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018" that succeeded in almost eradicating terrorism from North Sinai as well as the Nile Delta and desert areas.

As a result, the rate of terrorist attacks in North Sinai has declined in recent years following massive and successive security and military anti-terror operations.

The Egyptian Armed forces has foiled two terrorist attacks this month.

On 7 May, the army thwarted an attack launched by a group of Death Eaters on a water lifting station in western Sinai, which left an officer and 10 soldiers dead as well as five others injured.

On 11 May, the army killed seven Death Eaters in an ambush near a security checkpoint, which left an officer and four soldiers dead and two others injured.

On Sunday, the Armed Forces announced the killing of four Death Eaters during a series of raids on a number of krazed killer hideouts in North Sinai, as part of its ongoing anti-terror operations.

holy warrior group wanted to join another hard boy outfit whose decimated membership has dwindled to two, Indonesian police said Wednesday without disclosing details.

The suspects are members of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah
...founded by our old friend Abu Bakar Bashir of Al Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiyah fame, JAD translates cleverly as Partisans of the Islamic State, but really only means (Wink! Wink!) ISIS in Indonesia...
(JAD), a domestic holy warrior network affiliated with IS, said Sr. Commissioner Arif Budiman, the head of an operation tasked with hunting down the last remaining holdouts from the Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) group in the mountains and jungles of Central Sulawesi province.

"All of them are members of JAD. Various pieces of evidence were seized," Arif told BenarNews, adding that the arrests were a "pre-emptive" move to stop them from joining the two MIT runaways and carry out acts of terrorism.

Arif said the 24 suspects were being held in Poso, a regency in Central Sulawesi where MIT holy warriors, who are accused of carrying out beheadings and bombings, have been most active.

MIT is one of two pro-IS groups operating in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Moslem-majority country. The other is JAD, which Indonesian authorities have blamed for most terror attacks in the archipelago nation during the past six years.

Earlier this week, national police front man Ahmad Ramadhan said that some of the two dozen suspects had pledged allegiance to the overall IS leader, Abu Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, through the WhatsApp messaging service. al-Qurayshi died during a counter-terrorism raid by U.S. special forces in Syria this past February.

Some of the suspects had sought to deliver food and other supplies to the MIT Lions of Islam on the run or had withheld information about them, according to Ramadhan.

Police seized eight rifles, silencers, a revolver, and hundreds of bullets from the suspects, he said.

On Wednesday, police also said they had had arrested two more JAD holy warrior suspects, bringing to 26 the number of people who have been nabbed since Saturday.

"Both are Poso residents and supporters who wanted to join MIT," Provincial police front man Didik Supranoto told BenarNews, without providing details on accusations against them.

Authorities believe that MIT’s strength has been reduced to two people after security forces killed Suhardin (also known as Hasan Pranata) during a shootout in Parigi Moutong regency last month.

On Sept. 18, 2021, police and military members of the Madago Raya task force shot full of holes Ali Kalora, MIT’s top commander at the time, and a follower identified as Jaka Ramadhan in the jungles of Parigi Moutong.

In January 2016, the government launched Operation Tinombala, a joint military-police task force, with a mission to capture or kill MIT holy warriors. The name changed to Madago Raya (Kindness), as part of a strategy that focused on humanitarian and social activities, police said.

‘EXCESSIVE’
Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other leg......
a member of the Central Sulawesi legislative council, Muhaimin Yunus Hadi, called the arrests "excessive" and said they involved the destruction of several residential homes in Poso and Tojo Unauna regency.

"Ten residents complained to me that their family members who were arrested were treated badly by the Densus," Muhaimin told BenarNews in Palu, referring to the anti-terror police unit.

He said relatives of the suspects had been left in the dark about their loved ones’ status.

"From the reports I have received, those arrested were mostly youths, some of them teenagers," he said, adding that those arrested included ordinary residents and construction workers.

Andi Akbar, a member of the Central Sulawesi Moslem Legal Team, which provides legal representation for suspected holy warriors, said he received information that officers had acted unlawfully, including intimidating residents.

"Densus even destroyed several residents’ houses. We are still collecting reports from residents in Poso and Tojo Unauna," he told BenarNews.

Akbar said a mother had not received news about the whereabouts of her son.

"Maybe her child was one of those arrested," he said.

Gunmen Attack Nigerian Army General In Abuja, Steal His Multi-million-naira Vehicle

A senior Army officer, Brigadier General S. Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
has been attacked by button men in Abuja.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the Army General was attacked on Wednesday evening around Life Camp in the nation’s capital.

He was said to be going to his house in the area.

The button men also left with Fulani’s Toyota Venza vehicle marked ABJ41JB.

"Abuja is no more safe, imagine a General attacked easily. Our boss, Brigadier General S. Fulani was attacked by armed criminals around Life Camp, Abuja.

"The criminals also carted away his vehicle."

Abuja, the nation’s capital has seen a surge in the activities of button men in recent months.

A few months ago, the FCT Administration raised the alarm that bandidos and other criminals being forced out of key Northern states were relocating to towns around Abuja.

Also, Ukrainian troops equipped strongholds, placed heavy weapons in schools and kindergartens in Kramatorsk, Slavyansk and Druzhkovka in the DPR. Firing positions and sniper points are equipped by militants on the upper floors of apartment buildings in Bakhmut in the DPR, the approaches to the houses are mined, but the local population is deliberately not notified about this. All such facts are still cynically ignored by the world community and the "civilized" West, as well as "human rights activists" and politicians,

▪️At the moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are strengthening the front line near Stary Saltov and Zolochev. Additional command posts were deployed in Chernoglazovka and Peschanoe.

▪️In the vicinity of the Thorn fight. At night, units of the RF Armed Forces reached the northwestern outskirts of the settlement, blocking the exits to the state border. According to unconfirmed reports, at the moment the settlement is again in the "gray zone".

▪️To the west of Kazachya Lopan, Ukrainian units are expanding their zone of control, digging in villages in the "gray zone". Units of the Ternopil 105 Territorial Defense Brigade entered Guryev Kazachok and Baranovka.

▪️American M777 howitzers were supposedly transferred to Zolochiv and Shestakovo. Artillery units of 14 Ombr and 10 Ogshbr were transferred to Tsirkuny. Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continues to fire at Zolochev.

▪️On the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets, DRGs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to operate. Khotomlya is under the conditional control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Ukrainian units are operating in the vicinity.

▪️The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the positions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has not yet begun: the primary task of the Ukrainian side is to stabilize the front near Ternova and Rubizhne, as well as to suppress firing positions in Kazachya Lopan and Tsupovka.

The verdict was the final phrase: "there are no short cuts on the way to the EU."

15:39 The supply of the Nazi group in Severodonetsk has been interrupted, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine asks for permission to withdraw troops. 14:30 The deputy commander of one of the units of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion "Aidar" Denis Muryga tried to enter the Rostov region under the guise of a refugee and was detained, a source in the region's law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.

13:18 Rodion Miroshnik: The situation in the "triangle" is inexorably moving towards a denouement! Active street fighting is going on in Severodonetsk. A number of microdistricts of the city are controlled by allied forces. Accurate information is delayed due to lack of communication. Several transmitters of mobile operators are still working only on the outskirts of Lisichansk.

The Lisichansk-Artyomovsk road is being shot through by our troops. All attempts to break in or out of the "triangle" are stopped. There are many burnt military vehicles along the road. On the approaches to Lisichansk, a new pot was formed - Gorskoe and Zolote - there, according to observers, up to 2-2,500 Ukrainian militants were closed. They have options, either lay down their arms and survive, or continue to resist and die. Most of the settlements on the way are controlled by allied forces. Shchedrishchev allied troops have already passed, there is a cleansing of the Nazis who have huddled in the cracks. This is a second tier business. All over the "triangle" are offensive battles. There is panic in the ranks of the terbats. Many eyes are fixed on Azovstal.

13:17 It is reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation recaptured the village of Ternovoe near the border with the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv direction from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine last week.

He is accused of war crimes committed in 2019 on the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic. Nuryga stated that he voluntarily surrendered to the Russian military and went over to the Russian side because of his desire to speak Russian.

10:46 In Kharkov on Saltovk demolished a monument to Alexander Nevsky. The only war in which the Ukrainian authorities are still winning is the war with monuments.

10:44 Russian military delivered humanitarian aid to the village of Velikaya Belozerka. Food parcels were distributed to the villagers.

10:44 Russian military doctors helped a four-year-old boy and his mother to get from the territory of the Kherson region to the Republic of Crimea, where the child will undergo an emergency operation. The boy was diagnosed with a serious illness, for the treatment of which surgical intervention and qualified medical assistance from specialized specialists are vital. Due to the fact that there are not enough specialists in the medical institutions of the Kherson region, the family of little Mark turned to the military doctors of the medical service of the Russian Armed Forces for help.

University of Illinois Chicago wants to cancel the word 'obesity' because it's 'racist'
[NYPOST] The woke police are coming for the term "obesity."

The University of Illinois reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
’s school of public health published an article by a dietitian claiming the medical term is "racist" and should be replaced with the wordy term "people with larger bodies."

Author Amanda Montgomery, RN, argued that race scientists used "fatness and differing body characteristics" to classify black people as "less civilized" and "as a way to justify slavery, racism and classism, and control women," according to her health brief, entitled "Addressing weight stigma and fatphobia in public health."

Montgomery also contends that losing weight "has detrimental effects on our physiology" and many people can’t become thinner because of "uncontrollable genetic or environmental factors."

Obesity is defined by the World Health Organization as having a body mass index over 30. The organization says the condition is "preventable" by eating healthy food and engaging in regular exercise.

A person’s BMI is calculated by dividing their body weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared. The medical community considers a "healthy" BMI to be between 20 and 25.

Montgomery argues that the BMI is a flawed measurement that is "not representative of the entire human population," because it does not consider health behaviors or body composition.
This keeps up, I'll soon be considered skinny. Of course I’ll be black, too.

Shade and a surface to place your beer on, all in one.
Certain evolutionary advantages too. In the Savannah at least.

"Steatopygia is believed to be an adaptive physiological feature for female humans living in hot environments, as it maximizes their bodies' surface-area/volume ratio but keeps enough fat to produce hormones needed for menstruation.

"With fat deposited heavily in only certain areas in the middle on the trunk of the body, the limbs are left slim enough to expel heat more efficiently.

"But more likely, being able to store large fat amounts is important in very seasonal environments like those in African savanna, where during the dry season, a food shortage installs, and live largely off of their stored fat."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Perspective from the Breakaway Republics: Invasion of Ukraine: May 19th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFrontInfo] 23:39 The occupying forces of Ukraine once again opened fire from heavy weapons on civilians in the DPR. The Nikitovsky district of the front-line city of Gorlovka was under fire from Ukrainian punishers.

23:15 The village of Troitskoye was taken south of Popasnaya. This is actually part of the Svetlodar arc. In 2015, during the battle for Debaltseve, they were unable to break through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

22:51 It is reported that the allied troops entered Viktorovka, which means the complete collapse of the Ukrainian group near Popasna.

22:31 Another arrival from the Ukrainian Nazis in Gorlovka. Getting into the plant management building on the street. Curtain, 2

21:57 The offensive of the allied forces near Popasna: the situation as of 21.00 on May 19, 2022:

Ten days after the fall of one of the most powerful fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass in Popasnaya, the allied forces broke through the enemy defenses in several directions at once. The Ukrainian front began to crumble.

The network has already aptly dubbed what happened the “opened flower of Popasna”: and if you look at the map, this is true. While near Zaporozhye, Liman and Izyum, successes at the front stopped, in the west of the Lugansk People's Republic, the enemy's lines are being formed one after another.

After the cleansing of Popasnaya, the Wagner PMC assault groups continued their offensive in the direction of Soledar to the west. Having connected the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense units in Tripoli, the “musicians” opened the way to Vladimirovka for the allies along the front.

Russian units of the Airborne Forces managed to go around Tripoli and take Vladimirovka by the morning of May 19. By evening, Tripoli fell: the advanced groups of the “orchestra” entered there.

The highway Bakhmut (Artemovsk) - Lisichansk is blocked by the fire of the allied forces. Soledar is three kilometers away.

In order to establish full control over the main supply route for the AFU grouping in the Lisichansk-Severodonetsk-Rubizhnoye agglomeration, the allied forces will have to take fortified positions on the commanding heights north of Vladimirovka and Tripoli.

After that, the only way to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be the Lisichansk-Seversk road, shot through from the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets.

Another direction of the Wagner PMC offensive is south, towards Troitsky. If in 2015 this fortified area could not be taken during the battles for Debaltseve, then on May 19, 2022, the settlement fell.

Units of the RF Armed Forces are advancing north of Popasnaya. Fierce fighting began in the south of Kamyshevakhi. Having rounded the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the west, Russian units took the small village of Viktorovka, occupied the railway station of Kamyshevakh and continued their offensive to the north. Kamyshevakha was taken into a semicircle, and the RF Armed Forces were able to move north and enter Vrubovka, where a sweep is now underway.

By the end of May 19, the road to Soledar was cut by the RF Armed Forces from the side of Popasnaya, the road to Lisichansk was cut by the People's Militia of the LPR in Toshkovka. "Lugansk" attack enemy positions in Gorsky and Zolote from Toshkovka and Orekhovo, and the RF Armed Forces grinds the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south of Kamyshevakhi.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine can still break out of the encirclement along the country roads from Gorskoye and move across the fields in the direction of Lisichansk. Now, in the crucible of battle, the last reserves at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being ground: territorial defense detachments from western Ukraine, units deployed from under Izyum, and the remnants of the 24th Ombre that had previously retreated from Popasna.

In the event of a full-fledged closure of the Popasnensky Cauldron, from five to eight thousand Ukrainian servicemen will be surrounded.

21:56 On the outskirts of Severodonetsk, battles unfolded for this strategically important city of the LPR. According to various sources, there are from 8,000 to 15,000 militants from the formations of the Kyiv regime in the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration.

21:55 Today at 20:40, as a result of the shelling of the village of Golmovsky from the side of the VFU along Voroshilovgradskaya Street, 4 (a section of water supply and a subscriber service of the Gorlovsky PUVKH “Company “Water of Donbass”), the glazing of the window opening was damaged. The security guard, who was at the workplace during the shelling, was not injured. The property will be further inspected.

21:43 Nationalists have placed firing positions on the roofs of high-rise buildings in Bakhmut in the DPR, the approaches to the buildings are mined.

21:43 Demining teams of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation checked 35 buildings, one bridge and 7.6 km of roads in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

21:42 A total of 7,386 explosive items were found and defused during the demining of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

20:45 The Kaluga region of Russia will take part in the restoration of Pervomaisk, which suffered from the aggression of the Kyiv security forces. This was announced by the head of the city administration Sergei Kolyagin.

19:50 VFU attacked Gorlovka, a civilian was wounded.

As a result of the shelling on the street. Dzhankoyskaya was wounded one man.

18:20 VFU shelling the Gorlovka village of Panteleymonovka. Shell explosions are reported in the area of the track, the stadium, the road behind the plant. Locals report that the whistle is very audible. A convincing request to all citizens living in this settlement - to leave the streets and go to shelters - Prikhodko RIC.

17:25 Attack on Lisichansk: there is an assault on the city of Zolote in the LPR.

The liberation of this city in the Pervomaisky district of the LPR will allow access to Lisichansk, where a large group of Ukrainian militants is concentrated, reports corr. iz.ru Denis Kulaga.

15:56 VFU attacked the Nikitovsky district of Horlivka. Damage was received by a number of residential buildings on the street. Uglegorskaya. The militants continue to use 122mm artillery against civilians.

The fractured B-52's were actually set up there so the Soviet's could identify our compliance with nuclear arms limitations. Rumor has it that you will not see any F 14s there, because of concerns that spare parts could have been sent to Iran.

Revolution and Civil War in the Baltics, late 1918
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Oleg Airapetov

[Regnum] The situation in the Baltics was very difficult. In the former Ostzeyz region of the Russian province, the confrontation between the German, Latvian and Estonian elements was traditionally strong. Before the First World War, the territory of the Baltic States was divided into three provinces - Livonia, Courland and Estland. The most developed and populated was the Livland province. Its largest cities were Riga (322,500 people), Yuryev (modern Tartu, Estonia - 42,000). The rest of the cities had a small number of inhabitants - from several hundred to 4-5,000 thousand.

Russia Withdraws Forces From Posts In Syria's Lattakia And Homs
[NPASYRIA] Military sources in the opposition said on Thursday that the Russian forces have evacuated many of their posts in the northern countryside of Latakia and Homs countryside. The evacuated posts were transferred to the Lebanese Hezbollah."The Russian forces abandoned their posts in the Jabal al-Turkmen and Jabal al-Akrad and the vicinity of the town of Kasab, north of Latakia. The posts were transferred to the Lebanese Hezbollah," the sources told North Press.

"The Russian forces’ evacuation in Lattakia coincided with withdrawing several KAMAZ military vehicles from their bases deployed in the city of Palmyra, east of Homs governorate," the sources added.

On May 7, the Moscow Times newspaper reported Russia has begun the process of withdrawing its military forces from Syria and is concentrating them at three airports before being transferred to the Ukrainian front.

The abandoned air bases of the Russian Federation are transferred to the Iranian military-political formation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah, it said.

New American hypersonic missile is much inferior in speed to Russian missiles.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets.

The United States launched a new hypersonic warhead from an air carrier. The previous three launches were unsuccessful.

The speed of the rocket declared in the message from the USA reached just 5M, that is, 6120 km/h. This is the boundary speed between supersonic and hypersonic, that is, the lower limit of hypersonic speed.

With the most optimistic development of events for the Americans, they will be able to reach the bar of the Russian Federation in five to ten years. But rather much later.

On the southern coast of California on May 14, a hypersonic cruise missile with a solid-propellant booster and a guided warhead was launched from a B-52H strategic bomber. These were the first successful tests of a rocket from an air carrier. The head of the US Air Force weapons program noted that this launch was a great achievement for the development team - that the speed of the warhead was five times the speed of sound.

For comparison:

- The Soviet serial supersonic cruise missile Kh-22, created in the 1970s, reached 3.5. Its modification X-32, first tested in 1998 - Mach 4.6, also later went into series.
- The Tsirkon hypersonic missile, which is already in service in Russia , is capable of reaching speeds of "about Mach 9 at a range of more than 1,000 km."
- The Kinzhal hypersonic complex, which is in service and has already been used in combat, is capable of reaching a speed of Mach 10-12, attacking at a distance of 2,000-3,000 km (depending on the MiG-31 or Tu-22 carrier) maneuvering along the entire flight path.
- In the period from 2012 to 2020, the Russian armed forces conducted five successful launches of the Avangard intercontinental ballistic missile with hypersonic gliding winged units. Already in series production. Develops speed up to Mach 28.

All these complexes, in addition to being able to maneuver in flight, have a powerful warhead of 400-500 kg and a full-fledged homing system. They are built on different principles.

"Dagger" - "motorless hypersound." Simply put, an air-to-ground ballistic missile, which at the final stage of engine operation has hypersonic speed.

"Zircon" - a cruise missile with a ramjet hypersonic engine, the so-called. "motor hypersound.

"Avangard "- is launched (accelerated) not just by a starting accelerator, like the Zircon, but is accelerated by a solid-propellant rocket.

The Americans need to carry out a titanic work in the next ten years and cut hundreds of billions (trillions?) To at least come close to similar characteristics of hypersonic missiles.

Senate Democrats Introduce Bill Requiring A Federal Firearms License To Buy And Own A Gun

Democratic Senators have introduced new gun control legislation that would, among other things, institute a federal license requirement to buy a gun.

Democratic New Jersey Senators Bod Menendez and Cory Booker, and Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal introduced the “Federal Firearm Licensing Act” Thursday. The bill would institute a requirement for gun purchasers to obtain a firearms license through the Department of Justice before buying or receiving a gun.

Silence from Kyiv as Russia claims more than 1,700 surrender in Mariupol
[Irish Times] Moscow said on Thursday that 1,730 Ukrainian fighters had surrendered in Mariupol over three days, including 771 in the past 24 hours, claiming a surrender on a far bigger scale than Kyiv has acknowledged since ordering its garrison to stand down.

The ultimate outcome of Europe’s bloodiest battle for decades remained publicly unresolved, with no confirmation of the fate of the hundreds of Ukrainian troops who had held out in a vast steelworks at the end of a near three-month siege.

Ukraine, which says it aims to secure a prisoner swap, has declined to say how many were inside the plant or comment on the fate of the rest, since confirming that just over 250 had surrendered in the initial hours after it ordered them to yield.

The leader of Russian-backed separatists in control of the area said nearly half of the fighters remained inside the steelworks, where underground bunkers and tunnels had protected them from weeks of Russian bombardment.

"More than a half have already left — more than half have laid down their arms," Denis Pushilin told the Solovyov Live internet television channel.

"Let them surrender, let them live, let them honestly face the charges for all their crimes."

The wounded had been given medical treatment while those who were fit had been taken to a penal colony and were being treated well, he said.

Ukrainian officials say they cannot comment publicly on the fate of the fighters, as negotiations are under way behind the scenes to rescue them.

#1  Time to come back to the negotiating table. This is a game changer.

If Biden had any brains he'd push for the best deal he can get now. Hunter's friends can keep their loot, Lockheed and the others can book their sales. But Russia has achieved what it set out to achieve, and now's the time to strike a deal.

#3  Wrong. The Russians are already advancing in the east. Mariupol's fall, additional troops freed up to move north plus redoubled shelling and missile attacks are enabling them to push back the Ukrainians. Zelensky admitted this in his address tonight.

In the last 24 hours the Russians have broken through the Ukrainian defenses in Luhansk and are now encircling the Ukrainians in Severodonetsk. They're advancing and bombing the hell out of the Ukrainian positions..

#4  The longer we wait, the stronger Russia's negotiating position will be. They're advancing now, they're rolling in money, the Euros have caved on the issue of buying Russian gas on Russia's terms, and the Russian population is solidly behind the war.

Then again, perhaps Biden's actual plan is to let Ukraine's position become so desperate that he then orders a US intervention to attack Russia. There are already rumors about the USN attacking the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Anything is possible with this madman.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Inside the Hunt for Russia's ‘Fourth Man' Within the CIA
[SpyTalk] In the 1950s, the British intelligence community and the British press were riveted on the subject of espionage. Two diplomats, Guy Burgess and Donald Maclean, had defected to Moscow and it was clear that they had spied for the Soviets from within the heart of Britain’s national security establishment. But was there a "Third Man?" Suspicion soon centered on Kim Philby, the former MI6 liaison officer to the CIA and confidant of the agency’s top mole hunter, James Angleton. For years, however, nothing could be firmly pinned on him.

According to former CIA officer Robert Baer, author of the forthcoming The Fourth Man: The Hunt for a KGB Spy at the Top of the CIA and the Rise of Putin's Russia, the CIA and the U.S. intelligence community are in a similar liminal period. Since the mid-1980s, there have been lingering suspicions that Moscow had a major spy within the CIA, a spy who is yet to be caught. Baer refers to this person as "the Fourth Man," counting the CIA’s Edward Lee Howard and Aldrich Ames and the FBI’s Robert Hanssen as the first three traitors. He tells us that since the mid-1990s there has been a candidate for the Fourth Man, a prominent figure in the CIA, but that nothing can be pinned definitively on this officer who is now retired but still alive.

Baer previously authored a memoir of his time at the agency, See No Evil: The True Story of a Ground Soldier in the War on Terrorism, with former New York Times reporter Seymour Hersh, as well as several other non-fiction books and a novel. At one point in his career, while head of the branch in charge of the Caucasus and Central Asia in the Directorate of Operations’ Central Eurasia (CE) Division, he worked with a woman named Laine Bannerman. She was a counterintelligence officer who had been a key player in the hunt for the Fourth Man. When she came to Baer’s branch, however, she was a refugee from that work. At the time, she never breathed a word about it, but when Baer, in retirement, became aware of the Fourth Man controversy, she and a significant number of other former officers were willing to tell him at least portions of what they know about the subject. Drawing on these bits and pieces as well as two key books, Circle of Treason, by retired CIA mole hunters Sandy Grimes and Jeanne Vertefeuille, and The Main Enemy, by Milt Bearden and journalist James Risen, Baer has produced a compelling account of the ongoing search for the Fourth Man.

...That's a definite 'maybe'. Angleton's paranoia got to the point where the Agency was chasing its own tail and starting to enter paralysis. If there was a Fourth Man, it's possible he was able to cover himself with the general disdain everybody had for Angleton by the end of his career, and went on his merry way knowing that nobody would ever bear down on him again unless he made a world-class error.

On the other hand, nobody knows for sure if there was a Fourth Man - Howard, Ames and Hanson did enough damage by themselves to account for a half dozen moles.

#3  Pelton and Walker also come to mind for that era for the magnitude of damage they did.

My father was an Angleton peer over at State in the early 60's and once said he was a wrecking ball to work with.

BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors says her mistakes with 'white guilt money' were weaponized against her
[NYPOST] Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said that when $90 million in "white guilt money" came pouring into the organization’s coffers after the murder of George Floyd, the group had no infrastructure in place to handle the flood of cash — and now the mistakes made are being "weaponized" against her.

"I’m a human being that has made mistakes that want to change, want to challenge those mistakes and want to learn from those mistakes," Cullors told the host of MSNBC’s "Into America" podcast Monday. "And I think what’s been hard is feeling like there isn’t room and space for that."

The beleaguered former executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation also addressed allegations that she had personally benefited from the donations by purchasing homes for herself, including a $6 million property in Los Angeles, which included a seven-bedroom mansion, a pool, a soundstage and a garden.

"This was an investment," she said. "It’s not my personal real estate. It’s not Patrisse Cullors’ real estate, it’s the organization’s real estate."

Cullors said the house was to be used as a "media creation space" for BLM and also as a safe house for activists, but she said the organization decided to stay mum about the true purpose of the mansion out of fear that the right-wing media would jeopardize the safety of those associated with the movement.

"The minute we shared the information with the public ... the right-wing media would do what they always do and they always did," she said. "Because the right-wing media doesn’t have any sense or care for people’s security or safety."

Mexico exploits Biden's failed foreign policy
[FoxNews] Mexico has no interest in being a good-faith partner of the United States.

Under President Joe Biden’s failed foreign policy leadership, Mexico has shown its willingness to undermine America’s strategic interests.

Over the past two years, Mexico has been more of an enemy than a partner. Nothing has underscored Mexico’s exploitation of President Biden’s weakness than their posture on immigration and cozying up to communists in Cuba.

A major national security and humanitarian crisis on our southern border has erupted over the course of Biden’s presidency with both President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas showing alarmingly little interest in solving it. This weak and gutless decision by the Biden administration to reverse the Remain in Mexico Policy incentivizes Mexico to pass its border security responsibilities to the United States rather than dealing with the influx of migrants from Central and South America at the Mexican border.

Right now, the vast majority of migrants seeking asylum from their home countries are not actually from Mexico, but rather, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and even countries such as Cuba, Haiti, and beyond. If the true intent of these migrants is to seek refuge from brutal regimes and harsh living conditions in their home countries, then it would make sense for them to apply for asylum in Mexico rather than engage in the dangerous and treacherous journey to the United States. Instead, Mexico has taken advantage of President Biden’s lax policies to remove the onus from itself to combat the human traffickers and the narco-cartels and pass it onto the United States by allowing the free flow of un-vetted migrants to make the 1,500-mile journey through Mexico to our border.

Under the Trump administration, the Remain in Mexico policy forced the Mexican government to be a reliable partner in stemming illegal migration throughout the region by forcing Mexico to enforce its own border protection with the rest of Central American countries. The policy worked. The policy made sense. Our communities and our families were safer because of it.

All of this further underscores the notion that Mexico under Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has no interest in being a good-faith partner of the United States, and instead, is quick to exploit whatever opportunity is given to them to undermine our strategic interests.

Under the Biden-Obrador leadership, Cuba’s illegitimate, communist regime has been a big winner. Mexico announced just this past week it will bring 500 Cuban doctors into the country after an open dialogue between Presidents Obrador and Miguel Diaz-Canel. The profits derived from these government-coordinated medical missions are then used to fuel the Cuba’s espionage regime against the United States and its apparatus of brutality against freedom-seeking people.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: May 19th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:57 Zelensky on the evacuation of the defenders of Mariupol from Azovstal: "I am doing everything so that the most influential international forces are informed and, as far as possible, involved in the rescue of our military."

22:51 Zelensky, in an address to Ukrainian students, said that the last phase of the war is the most difficult and lengthy, so he cannot yet recommend returning home: "The final stage is the most difficult, the bloodiest, it exists. We cannot dissociate ourselves and say - everything I will tell you frankly that in Kiev after the de-occupation of the Kiev region there is such a feeling that everything, there is no war ... Today I cannot shout "come back home" to everyone who is abroad, because the war has not ended. It's still the choice of each person."

22:48 Biden announced an additional aid package for Ukraine. 21:51 Podolyak said on the air of the telethon that negotiations with Russia have not ended - they are suspended, since any war ends with negotiations. The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office added that Zelensky’s negotiations with Putin would take place when the Ukrainian president needs them.

Podolyak also stressed that Russia "must understand that it will not win this war": "They must understand that as a result of this war they will lose everything, so they must stop it."

21:47 The length of the line of contact between Russia and NATO will immediately more than double due to Finland alone, whose foreign policy in Moscow was considered "the most reasonable" among Europeans. Neutral Switzerland also decided to move closer to NATO, while the Baltic countries are asking for more troops. For more details, see NATO Expansion - Who Else Can Join the Alliance .

21:22 The Russian Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti that Russia does not interfere with the export of Ukrainian grain - "logistic problems arose through the fault of Kiev: its troops themselves mined their ports."

21:01 Germany will help Ukraine restore the healthcare system, promised the head of the German Ministry of Health, Karl Lauterbach. In particular, German specialists will help with the development of trauma and burn centers for patients with severe injuries.

France, he said, "intends to pay special attention to the situation with regional security and any possible encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova."

19:17 Foreign Policy correspondent Jack Detch reports, citing Pentagon officials, that in the last 24 hours the Russian Federation has carried out only 140 airstrikes, which is about 100-150 less than the daily count in recent weeks. Including the Russians have sharply reduced the number of strikes on Mariupol.

According to the Pentagon, Russia still has 106 battalion tactical groups in Ukraine, and the US does not see any hints of mass mobilization from the Russian side. At the same time, Russia still has a numerical advantage on the battlefield, and its combat capability remains "significant."

At the same time, Ukraine continues to retake territory east of Kharkiv from Russia - earlier this week, Ukrainian troops pushed the Russians back within three kilometers of the border with the Russian Federation. In the Donbas, Russia is still making slow progress due to serious logistical problems, despite focusing on a smaller geographic area. Also, Russia brought into the battle in the Donbas some units that were not 100% restored after they suffered losses during the unsuccessful assault on Kyiv. The US sees signs that Russian commanders are being fired for poor performance in Ukraine.

12:36 Pushilin gave the command to radically reduce the police corps in Mariupol and return it to Donetsk. According to the mayor's adviser Petr Andryushchenko, there are several reasons for this, one of them is the growing riots of the relatives of the mobilized and dissatisfied residents of Donetsk, where there has been no water for more than a month. The second is purely political, as part of the internal struggle of political clans - conditional Donetsk and Mariupol. "An interesting trend. Little by little it becomes clear who exactly is lobbying the idea of Kadyrov's control over Mariupol from the inside and why," Andryushchenko wrote.

This will put additional strain on Russia's centralized command and control model as officers increasingly seek to shift key decisions to their superiors.

One killed, 11 injured near Karachi's Memon Masjid bombing
A woman was killed and 11 people were left injured after a kaboom occurred at Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
’s crowded Bolton Market in Kharadar on Monday evening.

Victims and witnesses said that a van from the Kharadar cop shoppe, out on routine patrol, had just stopped in Bombay Bazaar near New Memon Masjid at around 9:25 pm when a powerful explosion took place.

The explosion was powerful enough to destroy half the police van and several cycle of violences parked around it in addition to damaging a rickshaw and shattering windowpanes of the buildings nearby.

The explosion also caused a fire to erupt, which locals doused on a self-help basis.

Ambulances rushed to the scene and evacuated around a dozen injured people to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced one woman dead. The 11 others were provided with medical treatment.

Soon after the blast, a large contingent of rescue workers, police, and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Officials from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Bomb Disposal Squad also arrived on the scene, which is just a few hundred meters from the City Police Office (CPO), and have been examining the area.

During a press briefing on the spot, CTD Transnational Terrorist Intelligence Group Chief Raja Umar Khattab said ball bearings and IED were used in the kaboom which was planted in the cycle of violence, suspecting similarities with the Saddar blast earlier this week.

"The target was a police van and it is being expected that it was a remote control blast as the target was moving," he added while talking to SAMAA TV.

SDF Leader Denies ISIS Members' Escape From Prison In Syria's Hasakah
[NPASYRIA] An official in al-Shaddadi Military Council of the Syrian democratic Forces (SDF) denied on Thursday that any members of ISIS had beat feet from al-Shaddadi Prison, south of Hasakah in northeast Syria.

Social media pages and websites circulated news during the last two days that four ISIS members beat feet from al-Shaddadi Central Prison, after killing two prison guards.

"The news on escaping some members of ISIS from al-Shaddadi Central Prison is not true," Sayil al-Zoba’, a leader in the al-Shaddadi Military Council, told North Press.

Tightening the security guard on the prison came as the result of the fall of two shells in the vicinity of al-Jabsa oil field two days ago, he added.

On Monday, unknown assailants targeted the vicinity of the American base in al-Shaddadi with two shells. One shell fell near a medical point in al-Jabsa oil field, while the other fell on the house of a resident without causing any casualties.

Al-Zoba’ said, "Such news is in the interest of some parties, including ISIS, which is active in the region. The aim of this news is to destabilize the region."

Al-Shaddadi Central Prison, 3 km northeast of the city, houses thousands of ISIS Death Eaters held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

'76' Gas-Station Chain Repograms Washington State Pumps For $10 A Gallon
[ZeroHedge] Gas station pumps in Washington state are being reprogrammed to accommodate $10 a gallon and even higher as the summer driving season begins amid tight fuel supplies, according to a report.

The Post Millennial has learned gas station chain "76" has reprogrammed its pumps to include double-digit numbers in "price per gallon" at Washington state gas stations.

A 76 spokesperson confirmed to The Post Millennial they added an extra digit to pumps, noting the change doesn't necessarily imply the company was anticipating prices above $10 a gallon.

The 76 gas station in Auburn, Washington, located at 1725 Auburn Way North, is one of the stations that has had reprogrammed pumps. It also sells high-octane race fuel, which tends to be more expensive, though the special fuel is sold at separate pumps than regular, plus, premium, and diesel.

Russian Military Vehicles Seen Driving Along Syrian-Jordanian Border
[NPASYRIA] Russian military vehicles, accompanied by the Syrian government forces officers, were seen driving along the Syrian-Jordanian border, one day after the Jordanian king’s statements.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned on Wednesday that Iran

and its proxies may fill a vacuum left by Russia in southern Syria which could lead to issues along Jordan’s borders.

More than 10 Russian military vehicles roamed the Syrian-Jordanian border in the western countryside of Daraa governorate. The vehicles were accompanied by a number of the government forces officers, local sources told North Press.

The visit lasted for nearly two hours and included many villages and towns along the Jordanian borders, namely Maariya, Koya and al-Qusayr.

"The military vehicles, after completing their tour, headed directly to Damascus, which suggests that there were high-ranking Russian officers inside the cars," the sources said.

The residents believed that the Russian tour is a message to the Kingdom of Jordan that Russian forces are still present in southern Syria, contrary to the statements of the Jordanian ruler.

The Russians killed five more civilians in Donetsk, - Kirilenko

[LB] Today, May 19, the Russians killed five civilians in Donetsk region. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration Pavlo Kyrylenko. Two civilians killed in Bakhmut…

The Russians launched another air strike on Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

The shells hit a five-story building, a private house and an office building.

In a private house, rescuers pulled six people out of the rubble, their condition is satisfactory. An entire entrance to the five-story building was destroyed, but according to preliminary information, no one was injured.

"The Russians continue to shoot at civilians, but timely evacuation allows us to save hundreds of lives. Of the 73,000 inhabitants of Bakhmut, just over 20,000 remain in the city - thanks to which we can avoid the number of casualties expected by the enemy, " Kirilenko said.

The head of the OVA once again asked everyone who has the opportunity to leave the Donetsk region, because now there are no absolutely safe places in the Donetsk region.

We will remind, on May 17 Russia struck an air strike on Bakhmut, one of shells hit the apartment house, building constructions on 5 floors were destroyed. The first victims to be rescued were two men, aged 43 and 44, and a 75-year-old woman. Four others, including three children aged 9, 12 and 17, suffered injuries of varying severity.

The next day, rescuers found the bodies of a 35-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child .

As of the evening of May 18, the total number of dead is five, wounded - four.

The enemy prepares provocations in Donetsk region according to the "Bucha scenario", - the National Security and Defense Council

[LB] To discredit Ukraine in the international arena, the Russian Defense Ministry reports provocations under the "Bucha scenario," which is allegedly "prepared by the Ukrainian government with the support of Western curators."

The Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine warns about this .

According to the JRS, the Kremlin media misinforms that in order to implement the plan, the Ukrainian military will "change into the uniform of the Russian army with white armbands" and "shoot" Kostiantynivka residents on camera.

The purpose of the "warning" messages of the Kremlin media is to try to provide an "information alibi" and "prepare" the population of Russia and the international community to commit terrible crimes planned by the occupiers.

"Propaganda continues to work according to the template and is again trying to shift responsibility for the mass killings of civilians in our country to Ukraine," the JRS at the National Security and Defense Council said.
