An Honest Illinois Governor is Dead
[Ay Pee] Former Illinois Gov. James R. Thompson, the state's longest-serving chief executive, has died. He was 84.

"One of the things he will be most remembered for was getting away from making patronage appointments for top positions in state agencies and bringing in people based on their expertise," said Kent Redfield, professor emeritus of political science at the University of Illinois-Springfield. "He really helped shape the modernization and professionalism of state government."
Until the Dems got control again.
After he was appointed U.S. attorney for the northern Illinois district by President Richard Nixon, Thompson and his staff uncovered massive voter fraud in 1972, an effort that led to 83 indictments and 66 convictions or guilty pleas. He headed prosecutions that led to the conviction of a powerful Chicago alderman and Democratic former Gov. Otto Kerner Jr., by then a federal appeals judge. He also took part in the investigation of Republican Vice President Spiro T. Agnew, who eventually pleaded no contest to tax evasion.
Voter fraud? In 1972? I'm sure that's all gone now. But not in Illinois.
Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who issued a statement saying Thompson "was known to treat people he encountered with kindness and decency" and that he "set an example for public service of which Illinoisans should be proud."
I believe Gov. Pritzker is under investigation for his toilet removal for tax purposes.

Air Force bombers, drones and fighters test joint 'stealth attack' ops
[FoxNews] The U.S. Air Force is preparing for a “stealth war” against advanced enemy air defenses with a group of integrated airplanes and drones. These include the B-2, F-35 and famous, yet mysterious “Beast of Kandahar,” the stealthy RQ-170 drone.

It was part of what an Air Report called a “Large Force Test Event” (LFTE) intended to explore “yet-to-be-deployed” technologies such as software, weapons and tactics in a warfare scenario.

“This LFTE assessed the tactics and viability of the F-35 to provide enhanced SEAD [Suppression of Enemy Air Defense] support to LO [Low Observability] platforms, including the B-2 and RQ-170, within an operationally realistic environment,” the service report states.

While it is not surprising that these stealth platforms would operate together in specific, high-risk tactical warfare scenarios, a distinguishing aspect of this appears to be its emphasis upon emerging technologies, prototypes and new-generation applications. Technically mature, promising new systems are often assessed or refined in these kinds of operations.

InfoWars Reporter – Millie Weaver – Arrested This Weekend Shortly After Releasing

Don't think we can dismiss this.
[Heavy.com] Millie Weaver from InfoWars was reportedly arrested at home in Ohio this weekend shortly after releasing a video documentary labeled "Shadowgate".

The video is about a group of individuals and government contractors who are behind the Obamagate coup attempt of President Trump. These people really run the government.

According to one supporter who shared with us the video:

This is the Most Amazing investigative documentary I have ever seen. Produced by Millie Weaver an Independent / Info Wars journalist. Millie deserves a Pulitzer Prize, but instead was arrested Friday along with her husband on burglary charges and has been indicted by a grand jury seated in Ohio. There is more important information contained in this report than I have seen in all the years I have been following internet news.

Now she's been arrested for burglary to go before a Grand Jury for stealing her mother's $50 cellphone because she was recording her mother during a domestic dispute. Her mother says she dropped the charges months ago. Sounds very suspicious.

Also I wouldn't put it past Alex Jones to arrange something like this to churn up interest.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Five countries that could be next to make peace with Israel
[Jerusalem Post] In the wake of the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, there are rumors that several other states could be next to sign an agreement with Israel. While there are hurdles to normalizing relations with some states in the Middle East, there are others who view the UAE decision as a trial balloon, and will react positively based on how the next weeks and months play out between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi. What follows is a list of some examples of countries that reports suggest may be in line to normalize relations.

Millennial Millie arrested (before release of documentary) video
[American Thinker] Millie Weaver, widely known as Millennial Millie, a 29-year old conservative new media video and print journalist with a large following online, was arrested at her home in Ohio on Friday morning. Police officers apparently from a local SWAT team took Weaver to the Portage County Jail in Ravenna, Ohio where she is being held without bail until at least Monday for a "tentative status hearing." A short video captured on her cell phone as she was being taken away was posted online.

Disney - The Magic is Gone
[Jewish World Review] I started my almost 30 year career at the Walt Disney Studios in 1970. Walt Disney himself had only been dead about three years and the studio was still pretty much the same as it had been when Walt was running things.

Walt was a patriot and he enjoyed making pictures that celebrated America's history and heroes from American Revolutionary Johnny Tremain to Davy Crockett to Pecos Bill and Casey Jones. Walt and his team also created entertainment that highlighted the family, stories such as Pollyanna, Swiss Family Robinson, Old Yeller, and Mary Poppins.

The studio grounds felt like a college campus, a college campus from the 1950s. When I walked through the halls of the animation building or around the lot people who passed by would look me in the eyes and smile. They'd say "hello" even if they didn't know me. That's the way it was then, friendly, family-like, and welcoming.

The Disney studio had the reputation of being the best animation studio in the world. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and so many other classics were produced at this magical place.

China-Japan-Koreas
President Trump Admin Designates Chinese Confucius Institute as Communist Outpost
[Free Beacon] The Trump administration on Thursday designated one of China's central propaganda hubs in the United States as a Communist Party outpost, a move meant to limit its influence and crack down on the spread of Chinese disinformation on America's college campuses.

The Confucius Institute U.S. Center (CIUS) will now be treated as an official mission of the People's Republic of China. For years, the CIUS has run a network of Chinese language learning centers that have spread Communist propaganda in U.S. classrooms, ranging from kindergarten to college. The decision follows a years-long pressure campaign from anti-China activists and hawks in Congress who view the Confucius Institutes as a tool for Beijing's influence operations in America.

The designation is meant to recognize "CIUS for what it is: An entity advancing Beijing's global propaganda and malign influence campaign on U.S. campuses and K-12 classrooms," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement announcing the decision. "Confucius Institutes are funded by the PRC and part of the Chinese Communist Party's global influence and propaganda apparatus."

The crackdown on these Confucius Institutes is one of several recent actions taken by the Trump administration to combat Chinese influence and espionage operations. It follows on the heels of a Trump administration order last month shuttering a CCP consulate office in Houston, which U.S. officials say was used as a hub for China's theft of American intellectual property and medical data.

Pompeo said American universities should take a hard look at the Confucius Institutes operating on their campuses. Universities will have to decide if they are comfortable permitting their students to be indoctrinated with Communist propaganda.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
CIA Behind Guccifer & Russiagate – a Plausible Scenario
[Strategic Culture Foundation] William Binney is the former technical director of the U.S. National Security Agency who worked at the agency for 30 years. He is a respected independent critic of how American intelligence services abuse their powers to illegally spy on private communications of U.S. citizens and around the globe. Given his expert inside knowledge, it is worth paying attention to what Binney says.

In a media interview this week, he dismissed the so-called Russiagate scandal as a "fabrication" orchestrated by the American Central Intelligence Agency. Many other observers have come to the same conclusion about allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. elections with the objective of helping Donald Trump get elected.

But what is particularly valuable about Binney’s judgment is that he cites technical analysis disproving the Russiagate narrative. That narrative remains dominant among U.S. intelligence officials, politicians and pundits, especially those affiliated with the Democrat party, as well as large sections of Western media. The premise of the narrative is the allegation that a Russian state-backed cyber operation hacked into the database and emails of the Democrat party back in 2016. The information perceived as damaging to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was subsequently disseminated to the Wikileaks whistleblower site and other U.S. media outlets.

A mysterious cyber persona known as "Guccifer 2.0" claimed to be the alleged hacker. U.S. intelligence and news media have attributed Guccifer as a front for Russian cyber operations.

Notably, however, the Russian government has always categorically denied any involvement in alleged hacking or other interference in the 2016 U.S. election, or elections thereafter.

William Binney and other independent former U.S. intelligence experts say they can prove the Russiagate narrative is bogus. The proof relies on their forensic analysis of the data released by Guccifer. The analysis of timestamps demonstrates that the download of voluminous data could not have been physically possible based on known standard internet speeds. These independent experts conclude that the data from the Democrat party could not have been hacked, as Guccifer and Russiagaters claim. It could only have been obtained by a leak from inside the party, perhaps by a disgruntled staffer who downloaded the information on to a disc. That is the only feasible way such a huge amount of data could have been released. That means the "Russian hacker" claims are baseless.

Wikileaks, whose founder Julian Assange is currently imprisoned in Britain pending an extradition trial to the U.S. to face espionage charges, has consistently maintained that their source of files was not a hacker, nor did they collude with Russian intelligence. As a matter of principle, Wikileaks does not disclose the identity of its sources, but the organization has indicated it was an insider leak which provided the information on senior Democrat party corruption.

Hollywood Apocalypse: The rich and famous are fleeing in droves as liberal politics and coronavirus have turned the City of Dreams into a cesspit plagued by junkies and violent criminals
[MAIL] Gold's Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream.

Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold's was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.

The film turned him into an overnight sensation. He would go on to become a global superstar, marry a member of the Kennedy clan, and become Governor of California.

Yet today Gold's sits amid post-apocalyptic scenes which have consumed much of LA, turning the City of Dreams into an urban nightmare from which people are fleeing in droves.

Fauci: If We Can Safely Shop At The Grocery Store, We Can Safely Vote In Person
[HotAir] It’s not the first time that Dr. Anthony Fauci has made this argument, but maybe it will be the first time it will break through the political/media noise over mail-in voting. The head of the NIAID said a week ago that healthy people who stick to mask and social-distancing protocols could safely cast their ballots at their local precincts, although that remark got understandably overshadowed by his cautious endorsement of reopening schools.

This time, ABC’s Deborah Roberts asked specifically about voting as part of a NatGeo panel she moderated yesterday. Fauci insists that the issue of in-person voting is no more fraught than grocery shopping for healthy voters, although high-risk voters might want to use mailed ballots “the way we have done so for years” (via Katie Pavlich):

Rasmussen: 59% Think Biden Unlikely to Finish A Four-Year Term in White House
[Rasmussen] Likely Democrat nominee Joe Biden is expected to announce his vice presidential running mate any day now, and most voters think it’s likely that person will be president within the next four years if Biden is elected in November.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 59% of Likely U.S. Voters believe it’s likely Biden’s running mate will be president before the end of Biden’s four-year term if he wins this fall, with 39% who say it’s Very Likely. Thirty-five percent (35%) consider it unlikely that Biden’s vice presidential choice will be president before his four-year term ends, but that includes only 14% who think it’s Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Even 49% of Democrats think it’s likely Biden’s vice president will become president in the next four years, although that compares to 73% of Republicans and 57% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

The Real Problem with Joe's Dementia
[American Thinker] Many Americans seem to have understandably concluded that Joe Biden has dementia based on his very public displays of confusion, aphasia, and incoherence. But the question we should actually be asking is What is going on with Joe out of public view?

Like many Americans who have cared for parents with dementia, I witnessed my father’s decline firsthand and, sadly, Joe Biden is presenting exactly as my father did in the early stages -- right down to the vacant look in his eyes. While I am neither doctor nor expert, physicians and other medical professionals rely heavily on caregiver observations because they monitor the disease’s progression 24/7 over the long haul, and can add valuable input that is not always obvious at an appointment or measurable with a cognitive test. I am relying on my experience as my father’s caregiver, corroborated by medical professionals, health consultants, literature, research, and the shared experiences of others. Of course, not every dementia victim will experience every symptom, but the commonalities are significant.

As the disease grabs hold of one’s faculties, men like Biden and my father continue to view themselves as experienced executives -- in control, commanding, and coherent; holding court as the family patriarch; the old dude who’s seen it all. They don’t doubt their ability to express complex ideas with the right words. And so, they conduct business as usual and, for the most part, things go fine until they stammer over a word, get frustrated, then confused, and either babble their way out or shut down. It isn’t long before lost words, forgotten names, and elusive ideas are replaced by whatchamacallit, whosimajig, whatshername, and the thing.

These lapses can be easily hidden during the early stages. It’s not uncommon for loved ones, spouses in particular, to make excuses for the afflicted, cover up the messes, and run interference with others. In those embarrassing moments when a dementia patient fails to recognize someone he should know, the dutiful spouse (often in denial) will swoop down, rush to his side, and handle the mishap. Of course X remembers you. He’s just very tired from our trip. Can you excuse us for a second? She will answer the phone and put the caller on speaker to assist with answering questions her spouse might find confounding. She will accompany him everywhere and serve as backup if he starts to frazzle. But for those occasional "senior moments," he seems put together to the outside world.

...The little-g good news here is that even the person behind the Resolute desk cannot order a nuclear strike completely on his or her own - a second individual actually physically present(SecDef, NSA, possibly VPOTUS, CJCS, and likely SecState) MUST concur, or all the codes in the world won't do a bit of good. If Biden suddenly got it into his head to glass Jacksonville or Brazzaville it's not likely to happen, no more than it would be with DJT. And on reflection, this proves that the Democratic terrors of DJT suddenly deciding to nuke something are no more than unhinged fantasies or attempts to make political points among the unknowing because they know perfectly well how the system works.

My biggest concern along those lines is that when our enemies try us after Biden gets elected - and we know good and damned well that they will - that the stress and speed of such an event will overwhelm him, and we're faced with a President who simply cannot make a decision or worse, is simply crying in a corner. We have lots of contingencies in the event of losing POTUS, trust me on that. We don't have one in the event they have a nervous breakdown.

President Trump's brother, Robert, dies at 71
[Washington Examiner] President Trump's brother Robert has died at the age of 71.

He died on Saturday night, a day after the White House confirmed he had been hospitalized in New York.

"It is with [a] heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight," the president said in a statement about his brother's death. "He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace."

Trump visited his brother at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan on Friday. When asked about his condition during a press briefing that day, the president declined to provide specifics. Officials did not release details regarding his brother's death.

Robert Trump was born in New York on Aug. 26, 1948. He was the youngest of five children.

He began his career working on Wall Street before later deciding to join the family business. He managed real estate holdings as part of the Trump Organization.

Ivanka Trump also paid tribute to her late uncle, saying, "Uncle Robert, we love you. You are in our hearts and prayers, always."

Duke University Economist Calls for $12 Trillion in Slavery Reparations
[Breitbart] Duke University economist William Darity Jr. and his wife Kirsten Mullen have co-authored a report proposing $12 trillion in reparations for Americans whose ancestors were enslaved.

The plan, written for The Roosevelt Institute, calls for between $10 trillion and $12 trillion — approximately $800,000 per African-American household — to be paid.

"[The] US government—the culpable party—must pay the debt," the report proclaims. "Ultimately, respect for black Americans as people and as citizens—and acknowledgment, redress, and closure for the history and financial hardship they have endured—requires monetary compensation."

The proposal has been dismissed by conservative and libertarian-leaning experts, who say it would greatly hinder economic growth.

Two cops killed in J&K terrorist attack
[HindustanTimes] Two coppers of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) were killed and another injured when unidentified murderous Moslems attacked a police party at Nowgam Bye Pass at the city outskirts.

According to the police, on Friday morning, murderous Moslems fired at the police party deployed at Nowgam and injured three of them. They were admitted to a hospital where two of them gave up the ghost. The murderous Moslems escaped after the attack.

The attack came a day before Independence Day, when security was already on high alert. The police have established fresh checkpoints within the city.

A spokesperson for the police confirmed that three personnel were maimed in the attack and two of them gave up the ghost. Soon after the attack, the top brass rushed to the spot. The third injured policeman is said to be stable. All three men were from the IRP 20 battalion. The dear departed coppers were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad and Fayaz Ahmad.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar blamed Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. murderous Moslems for the attack on the coppers.

"We are trying to identify the murderous Moslems responsible. There were inputs that an attack could take place anywhere in the city. The coppers were wearing bulletproof gear, but were still fatally shot.’’

After the attack, a search operation was launched in the area. No group has grabbed credit so far.

After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Apni Party (JKAP) strongly condemned the attack.

In a statement, a party spokesperson termed the attack "inhuman". "Violence is not a solution but a gigantic impediment that spreads hatred. In any of its manifestations, violent mostly peaceful extremism is unacceptable in a civilised society, regardless of political, ideological or religious motivations," the spokesperson said.

The BJP and the PDP also condemned the attack.

Four shot dead by security forces in Pattani
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[BankokPost] Four suspected forces of Evil were rubbed out in shootouts on Friday night and yesterday morning as security forces closed in on a fifth suspect.

The first clash followed an earlier shootout in which three soldiers were maimed while security forces were hunting for the perpetrators of a bombing that killed a ranger on Thursday.

Two more gunnies were rubbed out and weapons seized in Yarang district of Pattani on Saturday morning as coppers resumed the operation to arrest the suspects.

Earlier in the day, residents were evacuated to a safe area amid reports the suspects were heavily armed, said Maj Gen Pramote Prom-in, front man for the Region 4 Forward Command of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc).

Maj Gen Kriangkrai Srirak, deputy director of the Region 4 Forward Command, travelled to Yarang district yesterday morning to monitor the situation as the shootout carried on.

Maj Gen Pramote identified the men rubbed out on Friday as Masukee Sarumor, believed to be the head of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK)
...in English "Small Patrol Units”, the 500-strong south Thailand jihadi commandos are an ultra-violent offshoot of the Salafi Barisan Revolusi Nasional-Koordinasi (BRN-C), the largest group in the south Thailand Islamist jihad. Benar News has more on yesterday’s story:
Thai Deep South: Suspected Insurgents Slain During Manhunt for Bombers

Two suspected holy warriors were killed and three soldiers were maimed as security officers who were hunting for the perpetrators of twin deadly bombings the day before exchanged gunfire with an gang in Thailand’s Deep South, authorities said.

The clash took place in Yarang, a district of Pattani province, a day after kabooms killed two soldiers and injured three others as security details escorted students and teachers to school for the start of the academic year in Pattani and neighboring Narathiwat province.

Maj. Gen. Pramote Prom-in, front man for the army’s regional command, said officers killed a pair of separatist rebels.

"The two men who were killed are the leaders of the operation, but we will need to confirm their identities after the autopsies," Pramote said.

Police Col. Thotsaphol Sarapruek, chief of the Ban Sarong cop shoppe in Yarang district, said officials initially believed the group was involved in Thursday’s bombings.

"[T]he group opened fired first as they tried to escape. After a shootout of more than 30 minutes, three military officers were maimed and were taken to the Yala Center Hospital, Thotsaphol said, adding that the officers searched the holy warriors’ shelter and confiscated survival items.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
a military officer who was not authorized to speak to news hounds told BenarNews that the suspects in Thursday’s bombings were elsewhere.

Although rebel attacks that target security escorts for schoolchildren and teachers are common in Thailand’s troubled southern border region, Thursday’s twin bombings took place as campuses opened for in-person instruction for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out here.

The chief of the Duyong cop shoppe in Pattani said the first attack occurred shortly after 8 a.m. as a dozen soldiers assigned to Company 4305 were patrolling a road leading to Pakaluesong primary school. One soldier was killed.

About 30 minutes later, a squad assigned Company 4508, in Ra-ngae, a district in Narathiwat, came under a similar attack that killed one soldier and injured three others.

"The attacks in Pattani and Narathiwat are linked with an effort to make them happen at the same time, different cells but they were set off by holy warriors who wanted to disrupt the peace," said police Lt. Gen. Ronasilp Poosara, the commander of Region 9 Police Bureau.

Since the National Revolutionary Front (BRN), the largest of the armed separatist groups in the Deep South, declared a unilateral ceasefire in early April to allow officials to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, at least 33 attacks have occurred in the border region.

These have resulted in the deaths of at least 19 people, including five bad boys. As many as 52 people have been injured in those incidents, according to information compiled by BenarNews from police reports.

In 2004, Malay-speaking rebels in the Moslem-majority provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and four districts in Songkhla province reignited an insurgency against Thai security forces and soft targets over their demand for an independent state. More than 7,000 people have been killed since then, according to Deep South Watch, a local think-tank.

You can then request a ballot to vote by mail. In theory you need to have a good reason for it but you just tick the box "absent for a good reason" and you're fine.

You need to mail in your ballot by Friday to make it count on Sunday.

Afghanistan
Taliban Doesn’t Recognize Afghan Govt: Statement
[ToloNews] On the threshold of the intra-Afghan talks, which are expected to be held on Doha in the near future, the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
on Saturday issued a statement saying the group does not recognize the Afghan government as a legitimate system.

The statement was apparently issued in response to a recent statement by the Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
and one of his advisers on the grinding of the peace processor with the Taliban.

"The Islamic Emirate does not recognize the Kabul administration as a government but views it as western imported structure working for the continuation of American occupation," the Taliban’s statement reads, in versions of English, Dari and Pashto.

"Two days earlier, an advisor to Kabul administration’s Arg stated that ’intra-Afghan’ term ascribed to the negotiation process was incorrect and that talks were going to be held between the Kabul administration and Taliban along with other such remarks," the statement said.

Also last week, the Taliban’s front man Suhail Shaheen in an interview with Iran's Hamshahri newspaper said that the group doesn’t recognize the government in Kabul as a legitimate government.

In the interview, Shaheen described the Taliban as the 'winner of the war,' stating that the group will attend the intra-Afghan talks only to bring an Islamic government in Afghanistan.

Shaheen said that the Taliban will talk with all Afghan factions not only the government and the High Council of National Reconciliation.

In response to the statement, the Presidential Palace has said that such statements by the Taliban are only to waste time and make irrelevant excuses.

Afghan government officials have said that the Taliban must accept the Afghan government as the main side of the talks.

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Bert was realizing to his horror that he'd had only one bottle for one message, and he'd forgotten to include a return address...
Mohammad Reza Bahrami, the former Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan, in a series of tweets, said that recent statements by the Taliban officials indicate that their views have not changed.

"The position of the Taliban's spokesmen as articulated in recent interviews with the ShemshadTV and Hamshahri paper reaffirms the fact that their ideology remains fundamentally unchanged; their perspective on governance is essentially the same and they are as intransigent as ever," tweeted Bahrami.

"It cannot be accepted that the architects of the Doha agreement signed it without being fully informed of the Taliban's intentions. Perhaps one should search for a more realistic characterization than "mistake" for their act," Bahrami said.

Shaheen has said that the Taliban’s violence reduced significantly in the country, but the Afghan government has insisted that violence has increased despite the Taliban’s continued assurances.

The Afghan Ministry of Interior said on Thursday that at least 121 Afghan non-combatants were killed and 336 more were maimed in Taliban attacks in 29 provinces over the past two weeks.

The majority of the casualties occurred in Kandahar, Baghlan, Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
and Pashtun-infested Logar provinces, according to the Ministry of Interior.

With Harris Pick, Democrats Cede Election to Trump
[Gold-Goats-Guns] This article originally appeared at Strategic Culture Foundation

We haven’t even reached the DNC convention in Milwaukee next week and the election season is already over. Former Vice President and (presumptive) Democratic Party Nominee Joe Biden picked Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate.

She is the first non-white woman to be so ’honored.’

But that’s not a pick designed to win an election, that’s a white flag of surrender.

Harris ran one of the worst primary campaigns in recent memory, trying desperately to be the ’black’ Hillary Clinton. She crashed out in spectacular fashion. If there is a better example of being tone-deaf to what voters want in a woman candidate, I really can’t think of one.

What does Harris bring to the ticket? She’s a former prosecutor of black men from California. Were the Democrats so worried about that state that they felt it necessary to lock it down?

No, obviously, I’m being facetious.

Harris was simply the only choice they could make after Biden announced his running mate would be a ’woman of color’ and there was little chance he’d choose party gadfly Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) since he’s as globalist, empire-defender as everyone else in charge at the DNC.

The other possibilities were not serious. And Susan Rice has two real strikes against her. One, she has no name recognition. And two, she may wind up being indicted by John Durham before the election.

In fact, if you read between the lines, Rice not being the choice is a signal that the DNC’s legal troubles are a lot more serious than anyone is willing to let on.

The far better choice for the DNC strategically would have been Elizabeth Warren. Now, while Warren is just as much an unlikeable harpy as Harris is, she’s also more of a true moderate who could campaign to bring the party back from the brink.

Moreover, since she is one, she would have shored up the so-called ’Karen Vote’ which is a core Democratic constituency far better than Harris can.

In an election cycle where the straw man arguments about Republican Bogeymen taking away the right of women to murder their unborn children is strangely absent, that voting block is more precious to the DNC than ever before, especially after they openly backed the race riots and urban violence that has dominated the news cycle for the past three months.

The only way I think this pick works for them is that they try to claw back their support for BLM and Antifa by putting the strong authoritarian Harris at the top of the ticket. As Gabbard pointed out in the debates last year, no California Attorney General put more black men in prison than Harris.

Since Biden skillfully avoided backing the rioting, he and Harris will now pivot in the most disingenuous way to being the ’law and order’ ticket accusing President Trump of allowing our cities to burn and mishandling everything from the economy, to COVID-19, to the CHAZ in Seattle.

You can see the script they’ve written in their strategy sessions at the DNC. It’s the classic Alinsky play of fomenting a problem, nurturing it and coddling it and then attacking your opponent for being weak on handling that which you’ve been doing.

They’ve done this completely with all of the main issues of 2020 to date. And now at the convention in Milwaukee, the Democrats will try to argue, in Straussian fashion that they are the synthesis between an incompetent President Trump (thesis) and a failing America which he alone created (antithesis).

The only problem is it won’t work.

At all....

#2  I didn't author this article but, it is the way I feel

Subject: In Just 3 Months.......

In just three months, it will be over. The U.S. presidential election, I mean. Not the end of the world. But maybe the end of our nation, as we have known it. No I will not be voting for Biden.... I am not voting for a man. I am not rallying for a personality. I am not pushing a person. At this point, I am voting for one thing and one thing only. I am voting for the principles for which this country has stood since it’s founding. I am voting for Constitutional government. I am voting for a strong and viable military. I am voting for a vibrant economy. I am voting for the right to keep and bear arms. I am voting for the freedom to worship. I am voting for a national recognition of the founding of our nation on Biblical principles. I am voting for the ability for anyone to rise above their circumstances and become successful. I am voting for my children and grandchildren to be able to choose their own path in life, including how and where their children are educated. I am voting for our borders to be open to everyone who enters under our law and closed to everyone who would circumvent or ignore the law. I am voting for the Electoral College to remain in place, so that a few heavily populated liberal centers do not control the elections. I am voting for a Supreme Court that interprets the Constitution rather than rewrites it. I am voting to teach history, with all of it’s warts, not erase it or revise it. I am voting for the sanctity of life from conception to birth and after.

Now, there are some things I am voting against. I am voting against open borders. I am voting against a rampant welfare system that enslaves it’s recipients. I am voting against socialism, in all of it’s forms, including health care, redistribution, reparations, economics, governmental control, and criminal releases, etc. I would rather pay for prison reform then see the criminals released to repeatedly commit the same crimes!

So, although I don’t give blanket approval to everything our President has done or said in the past, I do support him as our president! I am not voting against Joe Biden, but I am voting against every thing that the party backing him and propping him up stands for. It is not the Democratic Party of the past. Three months is all we have. –

Share if you dare.

California Issues First Rolling Blackouts Since 2001, As Heat Wave Bakes Western U.S.
[NPR.ORG] Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, electrical providers instituted rolling blackouts Friday night — the first since 2001—as an intense and prolonged heat wave settled over much of the Western U.S.Hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have experienced brief power outages through the evening, after the body that manages most of the state's electrical utilities declared a Stage 3 emergency to help reduce stress on the larger grid.

Electrical demand surged through the day as temperatures topped the triple digits in many parts of the state and people cranked up fans and air conditioning units to try and stay cool.

Two Katyusha rockets land near Taji military base: coalition
[Rudaw] Two Katyusha rockets landed near Taji military base, north of Baghdad on Saturday night, a spokesperson for the US-led coalition confirmed.

"Two small rockets" landed near the base, according to Col.Myles B Caggins III, who cited Iraq’s Security Media Cell. No coalition troops were maimed, he added.

Saturday’s attack is the latest of several rocket attacks targeting Taji base and Baghdad’s Green Zone after Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service (ICTS) personnel raided the headquarters of the Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia in Baghdad province on June 26, detaining at least 14 fighters of the group who were accused of recent rocket attacks in the capital.

On Tuesday an IED attack targeted a convoy transporting US-led coalition equipment in Taji town.

Iraqi contractor companies transporting US-led coalition equipment inside Iraq have been targeted multiple times in recent months. Most of the attacks are claimed by gangs formed after the January killing of Iranian commander Qasem Solaimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, former commander of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, also known as Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic) in a dronezap in Baghdad.

Groups such as Asahab al-Kahaf, Usbat al-Thaireen, and Liwa'a Thaier al-Muhandis were formed after the US drone attack to avenge the deaths of Soleimani and Muhandis.

Taji base was repeatedly targeted after the liquidations.

Two Americans and one Briton were killed in March after fifteen Kaytusha rockets were fired within the perimeter of the base.

Zimbabwe govt denies crisis as inflation jumps to 840 percent
[Al Ahram] Zim-bob-we's annual inflation rate soared to almost 840 percent in July, the statistics agency said Saturday, adding to the country's desperate economic woes even as the government refused to acknowledge a growing sense of crisis. The southern African nation has been grappling with more than a decade of hyperinflation triggered by economic mismanagement under former president Bob Muggsy Mugabe

, who was ousted by a military coup in 2017.

Many Zim-bob-weans have seen their savings evaporate and still struggle to afford basic commodities such as sugar and the staple cornmeal, with corruption and poverty rife.

The figures were published shortly after a government statement was issued saying that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had implemented policies "that result in a robust economy" and had kept the country "commendably stable", denying any crisis.

The July inflation rate of 837.53 percent, which was announced by the Zim-bob-we National Statistics Agency on Twitter, compares with 737.3 percent in June.

Month-on-month, inflation stood at 35.53 percent in July, up from 31.66 percent in June.

The government statement -- published by the state-owned Herald newspaper -- was a response to a letter by Zim-bob-we's Catholic Bishops on Friday that deplored a recent crackdown on dissent by Mnangagwa's administration and a deepening crisis in the country.

Last month, the authorities banned protests planned by an opposition politician and deployed the army and riot police in huge numbers to quell them.

Opposition figure Jacob Ngarivhume, who had called for the July 31 protests against alleged state corruption and worsening economic troubles, was arrested 12 days ahead of the strike.

attacks in Uruzgan and Baghlan provinces as the fighting continues in many parts of the country despite ongoing peace efforts.

The fighting in Baghlan took place on the Kabul-Baghlan highway and the Baghlan-Samangan highway, both in Kelagai area, Doshi district close to an army base and a special unit of police, according to the provincial police.

A security source from Baghlan said that four coppers were killed and four others were maimed in the Taliban attacks that took place on Friday night. Baghlan police confirmed two deaths and three were maimed.

The source said the forces under attack called for help multiple times from the center but they were not helped, "even in transferring the bodies."

Local officials did not comment on this.

Multiple festivities in Baghlan have occurred-- especially in Doshi district--the past month.

In another Taliban attack in Uruzgan, in the south of Afghanistan, five security force members were killed and five were maimed, according to the provincial governor's front man Zelgai Ebadi.

The attack, Ebadi said, happened on the outskirts of Tarinkot city, the center of Uruzgan, on Friday night.

The attack comes as the Afghan government started the release of 400 high-value Taliban prisoners whose release was approved by last week’s Loya Jirga, the grand council of Afghan elders.

[ToloNews] Fawzia Koofi, a member of Afghanistan’s negotiation team, sustained "minor injuries" in an attack by gunnies on the Kabul-Parwan highway in Qarabagh district, Kabul province, on Friday evening, said chief negotiator Masoom Stanekzai.

The incident comes as the intra-Afghan negotiations are expected in the next few days and the 15-member team is ready to leave for Doha this week. Those close to Koofi have said the injuries are not life-threatening.

The attack was condemned by Afghan politicians.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
5 winners and 4 losers in the historic treaty between Israel and the UAE
[IsraelTimes] Parties to the deal, including Netanyahu and Trump, secure a major victory, while the Paleostinians, Israeli opposition and some settlers are left in the dust.
Summary below, details at the link.
The treaty between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a big deal.

The agreement, announced Thursday in a joint statement by Israel, the UAE and the White House, means that Israel will now have diplomatic and economic relations with a country that had previously not recognized it. In return for recognition and relations, Israel pledged to suspend its ambitions to annex parts of the West Bank.

The UAE is a Moslem kingdom in the Persian Gulf made up of seven smaller entities, called emirates, with huge oil and natural gas reserves. Its metropolis, Dubai, is a wealthy city known as a commercial center for the region. The country borders Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and is only dozens of miles across the water from Iran. It has a tiny Jewish community.

It becomes only the third Arab nation to establish official ties with the Jewish state, following deals with Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.

In addition to trade, tourism and other exchanges, the treaty means the two countries can collaborate on treatment for the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
and countering the influence of Iran, a shared nemesis.

That makes Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
a likely loser in this deal. The dealmakers are, of course, likely winners.

Here’s our analysis of who stands to benefit from this historic accord — and who has been dealt a surprise setback.

The Winners:
  • Benjamin Netanyahu

  • The United Arab Emirates

  • Donald Trump

  • Liberal Zionists

The Losers:
  • Liberal Zionists

  • The Palestinians

  • The Israeli opposition

  • The settlers (or at least some of them) and their American supporters

#1  headline says 5 winners but body lists 4

liberal zionists in both winners and losers
Posted by: lord garth || 08/16/2020 16:45 Comments || Top||

#2  From the link:
Winner: Liberal Zionists

Liberal Zionism is built on the idea that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is Israel’s most pressing diplomatic concern. This accord does not do that.

Yet liberal Zionist groups are celebrating the agreement. After all, their long-term goal is an Israel at peace with its neighbors. This isn’t how they thought they would get there, but a treaty is still a treaty. J Street, the largest liberal Zionist organization, said in a statement that the pact is “just the latest evidence that dialogue and diplomacy, rather than unilateral action and belligerence, are the route to long-term security.”

The suspension of annexation is also at least a temporary win for liberal Zionists, who have been bemoaning that such a move would mean the end of efforts toward a Palestinian state alongside Israel. For them, this is a temporary reprieve from that threat.
Loser: Liberal Zionists

Still, the accord is a major blow to the idea that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is Israel’s most pressing diplomatic concern. Liberal Zionists have warned that without sacrifices on the Palestinian issue, peace with other Arab countries is impossible.

Liberal Zionists have said, too, that continued West Bank occupation harms US-Israel relations. The UAE deal is a major blow to that idea. Occupation wasn’t an obstacle for the Trump administration, and apparently it’s not for the UAE, either.

Liberal Zionists have protested for more than a decade against Netanyahu and his policies. This is a major win for a man they desperately want to see lose.

The suspension of West Bank annexation isn’t a sure thing, either. Shortly after the treaty was announced, Netanyahu said he still hasn’t given up on annexing parts of the West Bank. So the one concession Netanyahu appeared to have made on their issue might not even last.

Taiwan finalizes $62 bln purchase of F-16 jets from Lockheed Martin
[Al Ahram] Taiwan finalized the purchase of F-16 fighter jets from US aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin on Friday, a source confirmed to AFP, in a $62 billion, 10-year deal sure to anger Beijing.

Underscoring the sensitivity of the transaction, the Pentagon announced the contract without specifying the buyer, but a source familiar with the matter confirmed to AFP that it was Taiwan.

The self-ruled island, which China considers part of its territory, last year obtained the green light from Washington for the purchase of 66 new generation F-16s, which will allow it to modernize its defenses.

Taiwan already has a fleet of F-16s purchased in 1992.

The new contract, which the Pentagon said is for an initial delivery order of 90 jets, provides for more modern aircraft with the newest technology and weaponry.

Beijing insists that Taiwan -- an island of 23 million people that has been self-ruled since 1949 -- is part of its territory and has vowed to respond with force if Taipei ever formally moves towards declaring independence.

South Sudan death toll in disarmament fighting rises, UN sends peacekeepers
[Al Ahram] The corpse count in South Sudan's Warrap State has risen to 148 following fighting this past weekend during a disarmament exercise, a local government official said on Friday, and the UN has deployed forces to maintain calm in the region.

Heavy festivities erupted over a two-day period between armed civilians and government forces carrying out a disarmament project, after some armed youths in the Greater Tonj area started engaging the security forces.

It is still unclear what set off the festivities.

Tonj East County Executive Director Makuei Mabior Dhuol told Rooters that the corpse count jumped due to some of the injured not receiving immediate medical treatment after the fighting.

"According to the latest report, we have collected 148 people killed from both sides," Mabior said. "85 were civilians and the other 63 were government soldiers."

A further 141 were maimed, Mabior added.

...an idea whose time has gone...
Peace Mission in South Sudan peacekeeping's patrol arrived in Tonj on Tuesday and has set up a temporary operating base to help deter further violence, spokesperson La Belle Francesca Mold told Rooters.

"The patrol reported that the situation is calm although tensions remain high," Mold said.

The national government, formed this year after a deal to end a conflict that broke out in 2013, launched a disarmament exercise in Tonj county last month, saying that armed militias in the area were driving inter-communal violence.

Black Lives Matter’s Jewish Problem – In Their Own Words
[IsraelTimes] "There is a difference between Black Lives Matter and the Movement for Black Lives," is the argument that is often made. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
it seems that the only people making that argument are non-BLM members. Personally, I have never heard that argument coming from anyone from BLM or M4BL, and that’s probably because it isn’t true. Not only is the argument not true, the organizers of both entities make it clear that they are connected to every ’liberation’ group that is aligned with their values. The very concept of intersectionality is that our struggles for justice connect us to a larger, interdependent struggle against issues like white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
. There is no evidence to suggest that BLM chapters do not share M4BL’s goals, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest they are one and the same.

Iraq
Iraqi activist shot dead in Basra as targeted killings continue
[Rudaw] A civil activist who participated in Iraq's anti-establishment protests was rubbed out in the southern city of Basra on Friday.

Tahseen Oussama was shot 20 times at his internet service company in the city's al-Junaina neighbourhood by "militia" button men, according to local media outlet Basra Today. The identity and affiliation of the perpetrators has not been confirmed.

Oussama had taken part in anti-establishment and anti-corruption protests in Basra that had spread from Baghdad across the country in October of last year. He was a vocal critic of both the government and of militias accused of killing protesters with impunity.

On July 6, the day of Iraqi security analyst Husham al-Hashimi's liquidation — largely suspected to have been conducted by Shiite forces of Evil — Oussama took to Facebook to warn "we will all be slaughtered in the Islamic way one day," sharing a photo of a gun and its silencer.

Iraqi activists have been warning of an increasingly threatening environment for those who speak out against the country's current political order. Data provided to Rudaw English from the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) last month put the number of protesters and aligned activists killed between October 1, 2019 and March 17, 2020 at 22.

The IHCHR "warned against the return of the phenomenon of the liquidation of civil activists" after Oussama's death.

Continued liquidations are demonstrating "the weakness of security intelligence ... which encourages the gangs to resume their crimes," its statement published on Friday evening added.

Oussama's killing also sparked outcry from international human rights

organization representatives.

"What is happening in Iraq! And the murderers are never get caught," Donatella Rovera, Senior Crisis Adviser at Amnesia Amnesty International said on Twitter.

Burundi jails members of notorious ruling party youth wing
[Al Ahram] A judge in Burundi has incarcerated

more than a dozen coppers, local officials and members of the ruling party's violent mostly peaceful youth wing after finding them guilty of extorting migrant workers returning from Tanzania, sources told AFP Saturday. The verdict was a hopeful milestone in a country where violence connected to the government often goes unpunished, human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
groups said, and could be a sign that such impunity will be less pervasive under new President Evariste Ndayishimiye.

A court in the southern city of Makamba issued jail terms of up to 10 years against 13 defendants -- three coppers, two local officials, one official from the ruling CNDD-FDD political party and seven members of the party's youth wing, known as the Imbonerakure.

"Seven of the defendants... were sentenced to 10 years in prison for extortion accompanied by aggravating circumstances," said a judicial source who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to brief the media on the verdict, which was issued Friday.

"Six other defendants were sentenced to five years in prison for extortion while three others, including a police officer, have been acquitted," the source said.

The verdict was confirmed by one of the defence lawyers in the case.

The accused were arrested in mid-July and accused of extorting money from Burundians who were returning from jobs on farms in neighbouring Tanzania.

Human Rights Watch and other organizations have accused the Imbonerakure -- which is often referred to as a militia -- of having killed, tortured and beaten dozens of people during the tumultuous tenure of President Pierre Nkurunziza, who died in office in June.

The international community is hoping for a softening of the iron-fisted regime under Nkurunziza's ally and successor, Ndayishimiye.

Chicago Spent $66 Million on Hospital That Treated 38 Coronavirus Patients
[FREEBEACON] reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

...the diminutive and vacuous Heronner da Mare of Chicago. When the corpse count rises she blames the guns, which are banned anyway...
's (D.) decision to renovate a local convention center into a makeshift coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
hospital cost taxpayers nearly $66 million—though only 38 patients received treatment at the facility, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on Friday.

The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, the agency Lightfoot tasked with overseeing the project, overlooked a bid from a construction company that offered to waive fees or donate them to coronavirus pandemic relief organizations. Instead, officials gave the bid to Walsh Construction, a politically connected contractor, which billed the city $65.9 million to renovate the McCormick Place convention center.

The decision cost taxpayers more than $1.7 million per patient. In contrast, the city spent $50 million total to equip three other centers in the Chicago area.

Navy Pier CEO Marilyn Kelly Gardner—whose private company has notable connections to former mayor Richard Daley (D.)—touted Walsh Construction in an email to Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority CEO Larita Clark the day before the selection. Walsh previously received contracts from the city under Daley, whose daughter is now a board member of Navy Pier.

City officials told the Sun-Times that officials "acted rapidly" in their decision to renovate the convention center over fear that Chicago hospitals would run out of room to treat patients during the coronavirus pandemic. The convention center now stores 2,750 beds and other medical equipment, which Samir Mayekar, Lightfoot's deputy mayor for economic development, said the city could use in an emergency.

Mayekar told the Sun-Times that he was "incredibly proud" of the project and that the money "was not spent in vain." Lightfoot made the decision as hospitals in New York City began to fill with coronavirus patients. Dr. Nick Turkal, the former executive director of the makeshift McCormick hospital, said the city feared its hospitals could become overwhelmed with patients.

#1  But what if Soddy Arabia — the archenemy of Israel’s archenemy

This is bull. Saudia is Israel’s archenemy. Real peace with Iran - once the regime is changed - is possible. Real peace with Arabs is a pipe-dream.

#2  ...It is entirely likely that the Saudis have had access to nuclear weapons for many, many years now - they did pay for Pakistan's bombs on the condition, explicit or implied, that when they said the word warheads would be delivered. They have openly had nuclear capable aircraft for decades; more of an 'open secret' is their possession of Chinese IRBMs - officially armed with conventional warheads, but doing so would be a remarkable waste of money and resources even for the Saudis.

This may well be another of the Obama Administration's chickens coming home to roost - the Saudis have been burned once by a change in our policy, and they're not going to let it happen again.

US says no bailout for Lebanon, calls for change
[Al Ahram] There can be no financial bailout for Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, a senior U.S. official said Saturday, calling on the country's politicians to heed popular calls for change, real reform and an end to endemic corruption.

David Hale, U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs, said the U.S. and its allies will respond to ``systemic reforms with sustained financial support.'' He also called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the Aug. 4 blast that killed nearly 180 people and maimed thousands.

He said an FBI team is arriving this weekend to take part in the probe at the invitation of Lebanese authorities.

Hale arrived in Beirut on Thursday, where he met with volunteers helping out at the site of the blast, as well as the country's top political and religious leadership.

``America calls on Lebanon's politicians to finally respond to the people's longstanding and legitimate demands and create a credible plan - accepted by the Lebanese people - for good governance, sound economic and financial reform, and an end to the endemic corruption that has stifled Lebanon's tremendous potential,'' he said.

``But as the dozens of young activists and volunteers I met so bluntly demanded, there can be no bailout,'' Hale said in a recorded message posted on the U.S. Embassy website Saturday.

Hale's comments were in line with Washington's message before the visit. But he didn't detail whether the U.S. and Western allies are ready to support a government in which Lebanon's powerful Iran-backed Hezbollah group has clout.

After visiting the site of the blast, Hale called for the state to exercise control over its borders and ports, in a clear reference to claims Hezbollah group controls them.

``We can never go back to an era in which anything goes at the port or borders of Lebanon,'' Hale said.

Washington and its allies consider the Iran-backed group Hezbollah a terrorist organization, and have accused it of abusing government funds and undermining state authority. There was speculation in the local media that Hale would be pushing for a government that excludes the group.

Iran, Turkey, Ben Rhodes, Tlaib united in criticism of UAE-Israel deal
Definite delusions of importance.

and a few other voices, such as former deputy national security advisor Ben Rhodes, who played a role in the Obama administration.

The paucity of voices opposing the agreement have brought together an increasingly small chorus that is obsessively critical of Israel or which is aligned with the increasing extremism of Ankara and the regime in Tehran.

U.S. discussing Belarus with EU, says Pompeo
[Al Ahram] The United States is discussing the situation in Belarus with the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
after last weekend's disputed election and subsequent crackdown on protesters, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Saturday.
Speaking in Warsaw, his last stop on a tour of central Europe, Pompeo said Washington was tracking the situation in Belarus and the aim of the contacts with the EU was to "try to help as best we can the Belarusian people achieve illusory sovereignty and freedom".

Security forces have clashed with protesters in Minsk and other cities in recent days after President Alexander Lukashenko claimed a landslide re-election victory in a vote on Sunday that his opponents say was rigged.

Chicago deploying 1,000 extra officers over weekend to deter looting
The City of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
is deploying an additional 1,000 officers this weekend to crack down on looting after businesses were ravaged over the week.

Chicago Police Department (CPD) Supt. David Brown announced the additional backup after damage to businesses resulted in more than 100 arrests in the past week.

"This is our town; it doesn't belong to the criminals," Brown emphasized. He said CPD would extend officers’ hours and cancel days off.

"Don't let these criminals run you out of this beautiful city," Brown said, adding, "Our department, our coppers will risk their lives to protect you. Not in our town. Not in our city.

Brown warned that officers would use every method possible to stop looting.

"We are going to deploy all tactics necessary to prevent and stop looting. [That may mean] deploying spike strips to puncture your tires," Brown said, according to Fox 32 Chicago.

#2  Actually, who wants to go in on this? The future of high end retailing will be to fly well heeled shoppers to exclusive "shopping enclaves" remote from public access. They can paw over the merchandise as they desire, no need to mix with the hoi polloi. The stores can be absurdly lavish as they don't have local regulations and taxes to deal with. If the retailers play it right, they can own their own shopping municipality and have whatever rules they want.

Coming soon.

Iran said readying to ratchet up enrichment at Natanz, violating nuke deal
[IsraelTimes] IAEA document reportedly says Tehran moving advanced centrifuges to the nuclear facility targeted by mysterious blast last month, in order to set up new cascades.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has reportedly been moving to boost uranium enrichment at the Natanz nuclear facility, the site of a mysterious blast last month that allegedly targeted advanced centrifuges.

Rockets fired from Gaza Saturday night, after IDF incendiary balloon response strike
[JPost] The IDF struck terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip following incendiary balloon attacks, as hundreds of Palestinians gathered along the border fence to riot, throwing explosives and burning tires.
Only hundreds, when Hamas used to pay for thousands? How embarrassing for them.
The Iron Dome intercepted two rockets fired from Gaza late Saturday night, as rocket sirens were activated in the the Israeli city of Sderot, located north of the Gaza Strip, the IDF reported.

The rockets came after IDF fighter jets and aircraft struck targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, in response to incendiary balloon attacks, and disturbances on the border fence occurring as hundreds of Palestinians rioted along the border fence, throwing explosive devices and burning tires.
A renewal of the utterly ineffective border fence riots? Golly.
Amid the riots, at least five people were injured, according to Palestinian media reports, which stated that IDF soldiers were firing live ammunition and gas grenades at the rioters. At least two Palestinians were taken to hospital, Israel Hayom reported, citing the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The incendiary balloon attacks caused at least 30 fires to break out in Israel on Saturday, and been sent into Israeli territory over several days.

In recent years, countless incendiary and explosive balloons have been launched by Gaza's terrorists. They sometimes have books or toys attached to lure children. Some have sparked large wildfires, such as on Tuesday, and mainly damage crops.

Following incendiary or explosive balloon attacks on Israel starting up again, Israel warned balloon units in Gaza that if attacks don't stop, then action will be taken. As balloon attacks continue, in which several hundred hectares of land including agricultural, the IDF and Defense Ministry have made several efforts halt the Gaza-base terrorist activities.
