Of course, the WaPo story leads off with -
President Trump told his Ukrainian counterpart to work with the U.S. attorney general to investigate the conduct of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and offered to meet with the foreign leader at the White House after he promised to conduct such an inquiry, according to a newly-released transcript of the call.
I didn't see Biden's name, in my quick scan. I'll check again.

I did miss it.
The other thing, there's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me.
I imagine AOC is looking for a rope.

POTUS: I would like to have the Attorney General call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of it.
Does this request constitute a "high crime"? A misdemeanor?
Zelensky (POU): I will personally tell you that one of my assistants spoke with Mr. Giuliani just recently and we are hoping very much that Mr. Giuliani will be able to travel to Ukraine and we will meet once he comes to Ukraine.
So the request is actually redundant. POTUS is asking POU to do something that POU not only intended to do but already did.
POTUS: Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ...
This was an unwise request. POU has people who are already looking into the matter. Stupid on POTUS's part, but certainly not a "high crime" or even a misdemeanor.
Then POU makes a request of his own:
POU: I would kindly ask you if you have any additional information that you can provide to us, it would be very helpful · for the investigation to make sure that we administer justice in our country with regard to the Ambassador to the United States from Ukraine as far as I recall her name was Ivanovich. It was great that you were the first one who told me that she was a bad ambassador because I agree with you 100%.
Both POTUS and POU are showing their lack of diplomatic savvy here. No need to waste an important high-level conversation with discussion of personnel matters.
But again, there is no corrupt dealing on either side. This is simply political chitchat about political matters involving areas where each president has unquestioned authority to make decisions and changes as he sees fit.
POTUS: I will have Mr. Giuliani give you a call and I am also going to have Attorney General Barr call and we will get to the bottom of it. I'm sure you will figure it out. I heard the prosecutor was treated very badly and he was a very fair prosecutor so good luck with everything.
Again, unwise to get into the weeds; also unnecessary. Giuliani's already in motion.
Giuliani can introduce Barr to the appropriate Ukrainian counterparts. But the follow on comments show clearly that this declaration of a next step is not tied to any kind of policy change, favor, or granted request-- POTUS simply makes a benign prediction that Ukraine's economy will "get better."
No quid pro quo. No strong-arming. No "high crime" or misdemeanor.
POTUS: Your economy is going to get better and better I predict. You have a lot of assets.
After this, the conversation ends with pleasant generalities and best wishes. POU's promise is simply that he "want[s] to ensure you that we will be very serious about the case and will work on the investigation."
Again, the reference ("the" investigation) is to an existing process that predated the conversation. It's in motion. There is no quid pro quo. POU is informing POTUS that it will continue.
The Democrats are morons who have been completely outplayed.
What a complete shitshow this is.
Compare it to Obama's "hot mic" moment with Russian PM Medvedev in March 2012 during Obama's re-election campaign. THAT comment--"I'll have more flexibility [to screw our E. European allies and go back on our promise to supply them Patriot missiles]" represented atrocious judgment. Though, again, as with Trump, Obama's unwise, probably disastrous green light to Putin was perfectly within the range of duties of a sitting president. and by no means an impeachable offense.
The entire impeachment process has become a joke. More like a Shitshow, Part 100.
#12
Complete joke. There is no evidence whatsoever - none, nada, nichego - of a quid pro quo request.
If the Democrats continue to be this stupid wrt their idiotic smear campaigns against Kavanaugh and Trump, then the election will not be close. Trump will be re-elected easily.

Something smells. I dunno if you noticed it, but the Whitehouse Staff's hearsay conversaytion summary has tracts nearly identical to the original un-classified transcript. This is only possible if they recorded a phone call between the Presidents (one of them their own). Or they have a god-like memory.
In both cases, there has been a clear breach of the Espionage Act 1917-Pub. L. 65-24 by this whistleblower because the summary was released much BEFORE the de-classified transcript ! Moreover the Congresspersons supporting this fiasco are liable to be prosecuted too. I recollect the case of Jeffrey Alexander Sterling another CIA whistleblower and Snowden.

Isn't POTUS the chief law enforcement officer in the country? The AG works in his cabinet, not the other way around. The AG serves at the pleasure of POTUS. He can replace him at any time. Are the duties of the president not clearly defined in Article II of the Constitution? POTUS swears an oath to the Constitution. Its powers include making treaties with other nations, appointing federal judges, department heads and Ambassadors, and determining how to best run the country and run military operations. Does he not have the duty to talk and negotiate with foreign dignitaries and to make treaties? IMO, the Dems suffer from impeachment frenzy. It is making them crazy.

Hunter Biden made money the same way that ex-politicians across the West make big $$$: they use their influence and promises of future influence to persuade companies involved in industries that critically depend on government policies to give them board seats and/or recurring income in the form of "consulting fees." Stock options + a quarterly payment are also included.
A second scam is to create a "private equity fund" or "hedge fund" that, again, uses the promise of influence to attract major institutional investors. The pol gets a cut of the money raised in the form of "management fees", which typically amount to 2% of the total, plus 20% of any profits above a certain "hurdle" rate of return. This is known as the 2-and-20 scam.
These are paid out to the partners, including the pol, regardless of whether the fund actually generates a return for its investors, let alone a return sufficient to offset the risk.
Hunter Biden's China fund raised $1.5 BILLION in short order. This is for a man with zero investing experience, zero industry experience, and a cocaine habit.
2% of $1.5B = $30 million in "management fees" each year. For nothing except the promise of - obviously - his father's influence.

California is seriously working on it, by 'driving' the middle class out of the state. The 'less people, less pollution' approach. Unfortunately, third world shit holes have shown that is not the case as CA evolves to that arrangement.
#3
problem for California is that even with zero emissions from autos and mindustry there are natural sources (e.g., seepage) and area sources (e.g., vast housing tracts) that emit enough hydrocarbons to produce smog.

Every day California politicians devise new ways to make it more difficult for commuters to get to work in their cars. They convert car lanes to bike lanes. They put speed bumps on roads where the speed limit used to be 45 mph. They call it road diets. Yes, incredible as it sounds, this is a real thing that they really do. People are told to bike to work to prevent global warming even if their jobs are 30 miles from where they live. Politicians build new carpool lanes but never any new lanes for working stiffs who have no other option. They let hybrids and electrical vehicles into the carpool lanes but seem to forget that you have to burn something to charge the batteries and they never talk about how to dispose of those toxic batteries when they die. Mass transit in this state is a sick joke but they keep trying to make it harder and more expensive for people to get to work in cars. Just last year they raised the gas tax which was already the highest gas tax in the country. They want to force people into high density condo and apartment buildings near mass transit lines but the mass transit is dirty, dangerous and unreliable. Hobos, whackos and meth freaks ride for free but commuters are fined if they forget to renew their monthly passes. They keep pushing for more affordable housing for illegal aliens but they never do anything about the state's crumbling infrastructure. None of this actually reduces emissions. Newsom is an asshole.

^ The southern California-based urban planning expert Joel Kotkin has written extensively on this stupid hostility to single-family housing, suburbs, and highways, the ridiculous attachment to density in a state with fabulous weather and a nation with tons of land, and all the damage it causes to families seeking to raise their kids in an affordable and pleasant environment.
I believe Kotkin writes for City Paper, the same brave publication where you can find Heather MacDonald's excellent takedowns of the lies and BS surrounding BLM and accusations of "racist" policing.

There are logs from the Spanish Empire days commenting on the smog in the LA basin. Apparently the desert dust gets kicked up and the mountains surrounding the area keep it trapped. We've only made it worse with industrialization but it's never going to go away until they dome the city.
A piece published by the Des Moines Register profiled a 24-year-old Iowan native, Carson King, who became a TV sensation last weekend after he held up a sign at a football game asking people to donate money to him. He requested that they donate the funds through Venmo so he could buy his “supply” of Busch Light.
King went on to raise more than $1 million and donated the money to the University of Iowa’s Stead Children’s Hospital. Busch Light and Venmo pledged to match King’s fundraising efforts.
The newspaper report, however, included a “routine background check” of King’s social media history. Register reporter Aaron Calvin came across two racist jokes that dated back to 2012 when King was a 16-year-old high school student, “one comparing black mothers to gorillas and another making light of black people killed in the Holocaust.”

[NationalReview] Sherikia Hawkins was charged Monday with six felony counts for allegedly altering absentee ballots during the November 2018 election in her capacity as city clerk for the Detroit suburb of Southfield, Mich.
Hawkins, a 38-year-old registered Democrat, stands accused of altering 193 absentee ballots. She was arraigned Monday in Southfield on charges including falsifying returns or records, forgery of a public record, misconduct in office, and multiple counts of using a computer to commit a crime. She was released on $15,000 bond.

What was her reward for this malfeasance?

There is *absolutely* no voter fraud in Michigan. Or so our betters tell us. But it does seem rather common for a box of ballots that somehow got overlooked to show up at the last minute in a close race.
After the last Presidential election, they tried to do a recount in Detroit, but had to call it off when there were too many precincts where the actual number of ballots in the storage box did not match the total written on the outside.
MI uses paper ballots that the voter runs thru the scanner personally on election day. But the only thing stopping someone from running them thru again after hours is personal integrity.
I understand the logic behind "D'[insert stressed syllable ending in 'an' or 'ana']": it sounds like Wakanda and sets up a nice anapestic meter that creates the illusion of swiftness, action. Byronic, almost: The Wakandan came down, like the wolf on the fold...
But Sherikia sounds like a botched attempt at a shriek.
Why not take some random terms out of the Physician's Desk Reference? Add a weird syllable or change the spelling to make it authentically "sick." For example:

[AccordingToHoyt] What do you do after you lose trust in your institutions? All your institutions? What happens to a civilization when every public institution, everything we are supposed to trust and believe has provably lied to us?
From the media with their increasingly crazy and public lying and insanity, to professional associations ("gun epidemic"), to our schools (really, really, children walking out to protest climate change? Because yes, children know things you didn’t tell them), to our scientific studies that no one can actually reproduced, to our contaminated, cheating elections (really, Arizona? We’ll keep the polls open till the leftist wins?) to the fact that one party in the US is fronting candidates that no one can actually believe and who seem to be living in a parallel universe, to our corrupted statistics for both census and production and cost of living, to the frigging polls, to‐
Look, all "elites" lie to the people, and arguably our institutions lied a lot more to us in the past. Or if not more, at least as much.
Now for the first time, though, there are ways to verify and to question what we’re being told, and again, I must ask: What happens when the people lose all trust in their institutions? Weimar Republic?

The Spoils System. Sometimes the only cure is amputation followed by cauterizing with fire when a limb becomes rotten.
#12
What happens when the people lose all trust in their institutions?
Actually we have lots of evidence from other societies to tell us what will happen.
First, you will see people create two selves: a public self that seeks to avoid any kind of attention or scrutiny by those who have the power to ruin you - be it superiors or colleagues or neighbors - and the real self that is exposed only to immediate family and a handful of friends. The social media, let-it-all-hang-out model will quickly expire in this environment.
Second, along with the underground self, you will see a lot of economic activity go underground. People will naturally turn to off-market transactions, to cash under the table, to all manner of ruses, shelters, scams.
Third, as a consequence of #1 and #2, public confidence in rule of law, impartial justice, free and fair elections, an independent press and all the other core institutions of representative democracy will collapse. Demagogues and radical parties will surge. The habits of compromise, conciliation, seeing things through another's eyes: all of these habits will wither.
Finally, and this is a big unknown--it depends on the efficiency of state surveillance and control--radicalized, in many cases violent, fringe movements will spread and gain many adherents.
The above pattern happened before every modern revolution, including the Nazi revolution, and mostt of them flourished under communism in the late 20th century.
It can happen here. Smart money says that at least a few of these will happen in coming years.

[The Derringer] Here we are again. Another day, another scandal. Today, Trump is accused of withholding military aid to Ukraine in exchange for dirt on Biden. Tomorrow it will be something else. Whether or not he committed any crime, can’t we all agree that he is guilty of it?
Let me lay out my reasoning. Trump, as we all know, is a criminally corrupt president, unfit and emotionally unstable. It is our job as reporters to discover the evidence that proves these facts. But here’s the rub ‐ finding evidence is difficult and expensive. Can’t we just jump to the end and say he’s guilty already?
First of all, we know he’s guilty because we feel these facts deep within our bones. We feel the knowledge of his guilt well up inside us when he appears on the TV screen. We flush to its terrible revelation when he speaks. It’s insulting, frankly, that we should have to prove this guilt by "standards" of "law." Babylon Bee has competition?

[PJMedia] Last week a lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of Texas federal court alleging that the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Veterans Affairs office and its employee, Miguel Coias, knowingly and maliciously targeted the Retail Ready Career Center, Inc. (RRCC) for destruction with no evidence of any crime and, in fact, fabricated evidence against it.
Jonathan Davis began his career as an installation helper in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) field. After learning the business, he and a partner started their own service company. While servicing customers he noticed the need for well-trained and prepared technicians. He also was fully aware of the growing veteran jobless and homeless crisis. Davis decided to open a school with a boot-camp-like philosophy using an intensive six-week program to serve the needs of the customers he had. This school would also be a place for veterans, many of them homeless, to use their benefits offered through the GI bill to get the education they were promised, which would, in turn, lead to a good job. Retail Ready Center, Inc. was born. Shut down because it cuts down academic (worthless pieces of paper for big bucks) business?
#1
That could be part of it, but Davis himself thinks that he was shut down because the VA administrators realized that he and people like him could end up making people cough up money that they were owed and that they generally never claimed.
"For the Chilruns"
[Babylon Bee] Democrats are bringing a new tactic to the next presidential debate. Each candidate will arrive on the debate stage with a child to hold up whenever someone tries to question or challenge any of the statements they make.
"This cable TV debate format doesn't allow for long-winded answers and rebuttals. You gotta make your point and you need people to move on," said news anchor Anderson Cooper in support of the new debate technique.
Recently, presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren was asked about accepting lobbyist money and she immediately lifted up a five-year-old girl named Sophie.
"Why are you attacking this child? Are you some kind of monster?" she asked, leaving her interviewer speechless.
"These are the kind of people I'm up against," Warren later said to her supporters after dropping Sophie into a carrying case for later. "People who ruthlessly attack children."

[Daily Wire] The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it is releasing an inspector general report on the whistleblower complaint that is at the center of Democrats' push to impeach the president which reportedly found that the whistleblower had a bias in favor of one of Trump's political rivals. "Whistleblower" is incorrect. Leaker and hearsay is correct
"A senior Trump administration official told Fox News late Tuesday that the administration will release a document showing the intelligence community inspector general found the whistleblower who leveled an explosive accusation against President Trump concerning his talks with Ukraine had 'political bias' in favor of 'a rival candidate' of the president," Fox News reported. "The official did not identify the name of the rival candidate. Separately, a senior administration official told Fox News the White House has been working as quickly as it can to release to Congress the whistleblower complaint involving President Trump's conversations with the leader of Ukraine, as long as it's legally possible."
The development comes hours after Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that Democrats were launching a formal impeachment inquiry into the president over a phone call that he had with Ukraine.

So it turns out that this is a big nothingburger, as usual. But my question is why did Nancy make such a big frickin' deal about yesterday? Oh, they've really got him this time! Yeah. But they don't. So why all the hub-bub? My theory is that Trump is getting close to some facts about Ukraine, China and Biden that are extremely uncomfortable for Democrats. It might even implicate their precious Baraq and so they're squealing like stuck pigs about a phone call that violated no laws at all to distract from Biden.

Bingo.
Biden's finished, and Pelosi panicked.
She and the Dem leadership are terrified about and trying to get ahead of the inevitable stories revealing Hunter & Joe Biden's obvious-to-heaven corruption. Plus Hillary's collusion with Ukraine via GPS/Nellie Ohr to nail Manafort.
Note that neither Warren nor Sanders has any interest in protecting Joe or Hillary. So Pelosi and the DNC felt they had to act, fast, with whatever weak cards they head. Even a two of clubs, like this idiocy.
This is the biggest boomerang we've seen in a long time.
And if you think Swillary didn't know when to shut up after the election, just watch Joe go go go if he's not the nominee. And that will suck up oxygen all during the campaign.

If Epstein was running a blackmail operation as some say, most likely, there is plenty of info that exists which has not become public and may never. For example, Anthony Weiner's laptop, material confiscated from the Epstein NYC mansion, info from the Palm-Beach mansion as well as the Little St. James Epstein estate. There is also the NEXIVM scandal and all the material that was probably confiscated from that operation.

[OneIndia] New Delhi, Sep 25: A high alert has been declared after the Intelligence Bureau has warned about a possible attack on an Indian Air Force in Jammu and Kashmir. The IB warning states that terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad are looking to carry out this attack. It has further been warned that the JeM had trained 8 of its terrorists for this attack.
This alert comes in the wake of another warning that was issued last week in which it was said that the Jaish-e-Mohammad had started training 40 jihadis to strike in India.
The information that is based on Intelligence gathering suggests that these 40 jihadis are being training to strike at Jammu and Kashmir as well as other parts of the country. In the past few weeks, the Intelligence has indicated that Pakistan would up the ante and strike at various locations that includes, Maharashtra, Gujarat and some of the southern states. After the IAF strikes, the Balakot facility had been shut down. However this is for the first time that the facility has been activated following the strike.

[IsraelTimes] Residents of Halhul throw rocks at military jeeps, causing a crash but no injuries; security forces escort 1,200 worshipers to Joseph’s Tomb holy site
Israeli troops operated extensively throughout the West Bank in the predawn hours of Tuesday morning, arresting 19 people and clashing with Paleostinian residents.
Outside the northern West Bank city of Nablus, soldiers also found a pipe bomb that had been placed along the road, the Israel Defense Forces said.u
"Engineering forces arrived at the site and removed the bomb in order to disarm it. There were no injuries, and no damage was caused," the army said in a statement.
Nearby, the IDF escorted a group of some 1,200 Jewish worshipers to the Joseph’s Tomb pilgrimage site in Nablus.
"The prayers were held as organized," the military said.
According to the IDF, the 19 Paleostinians were suspected of a variety of offenses including participating in riots, rock-throwing, and involvement in terrorist activities.
[IsraelTimes] US-led coalition forces in Baghdad say that attacks on coalition personnel and facilities "will not be tolerated," adding that coalition forces retain the right to self-defense.
A statement Tuesday says that no coalition or US-occupied facility was struck in last night’s attack in which two rockets were fired into the heavily fortified Green Zone, landing around one kilometer from the US Embassy compound.
The coalition statement says it takes "this incident seriously as do our Iraqi security forces partners." No side has grabbed credit for the attack.
Similar attacks in the past have sometimes been blamed by Iraqi forces on Iranian-backed militias in Baghdad.
Baghdad (IraqiNews) An official source informed on Monday that two mortar were fired and fell around one kilometer from the U.S. Embassy in the Green Zone, in central the capital, Baghdad.
The source said in a press statement that two mortar shells were fired toward the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, and landed near the headquarters of the U.S. Embassy, while affirmed no casualties were reported.
Two checkpoints (Babylon and B4) in the green zone were closed temporarily in case of any emergency, the source further added.
It is noteworthy that the Green Zone was a heavily fortified zone in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which served as the headquarters of successive Iraqi regimes.
[Babylon Bee] Nancy Pelosi is reportedly starting impeachment proceedings against President Trump. It's not clear why but at least it will be fun for all involved, which is good because the news cycle has been a little slow over the summer. We all need a good public spectacle once in a while.
But Trump is a good sport and wanted to warn the Democrats about what they're going to do: "If you impeach me now, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine," he said in an open address to his political foes. "Seriously, I will have huge power, believe me. Maybe the most power of anyone ever."
When pressed for what would happen, Trump admitted that he would probably be impeached and die but they wouldn't find a body: only a folded-up suit and his orange toupee. Then, he would appear to his replacement, Mike Pence, in visions and whisper advice. "For instance, if he were at a state dinner with a foreign diplomat and the salads come out, I'd tell him to use the fork."

Heck no. It's just been resurrected in another form. The talking heads are probably going to whine about how bad it is but not be able to come up with any real reason why. They'll watch each other float trial balloons and hope one of them comes up with something that sounds legitimate to their emotionally challenged audience.

[LATimes] Authorities are investigating how an off-duty Alhambra police officer ended up with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an encounter on the road with an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy.
The San Marino Police Department initially said the driver of a blue Subaru had shot himself after a road rage incident about 8:40 a.m. Sunday near Duarte Road and San Gabriel Boulevard. But on Monday morning, the Police Department said that wasn't the case.
"At this point in the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a road rage incident and neither party knew each other or was aware they were members of a law enforcement agency," police said in an updated news release.
According to San Marino police, a second driver, identified as an off-duty sheriff's deputy, told investigators he thought the man in the Subaru was driving erratically.
He wanted to stop the man and ask him not to speed in the neighborhood, he said.
Police said the deputy, who was in a Mercedes-Benz, pulled alongside the other man while they were driving and tried to speak to the Subaru driver, motioning for the man to lower his window.
The Alhambra officer slowed and moved to the right to allow the Mercedes to pass.
The officer later told investigators that the deputy was speeding and that he believed the man in the Mercedes was driving in an aggressive manner.
"Fearing for his safety, the Alhambra officer drew his firearm while inside his vehicle," San Marino police said.
San Marino Police Chief John Incontro said the officer accidentally shot himself in the process of pulling out his weapon.
Alhambra police said the officer was hospitalized.
"He's OK," Alhambra Police Sgt. Rodney Castillo said Monday morning.
[NYPost] A Russian navy boat embarking on a research expedition in the Arctic Sea sank after being attacked by a female walrus that was defending her young, according to reports Monday.
The Altai, a tugboat operated by the Russian navy's Northern Fleet, carried researchers from the Russian Geographical Society and other expedition participants into waters near a remote island chain called Franz Josef Land in the Arctic Sea, Ars Technica reported.
The boat dispatched a smaller inflatable landing craft in shallow waters off Wilczek Island to bring researchers ashore near Cape Heller. Before the boat could reach the beach, it was attacked by a female walrus that was probably "fearing for her cubs," according to a press release from the Russian Geographical Society.
"The boat sank, but a tragedy was avoided thanks to the prompt action by the squad leader. All landing participants safely reached the shore," the press release said. A separate press release from the Russian navy confirmed the attack but did not say the boat sank, the Barents Observer reported.
"During the landing at Cape Heller, a group of researchers had to flee from a female walrus who attacked an expedition boat when protecting her cub," the Northern Fleet wrote.
"Serious troubles were avoided thanks to the clear and well-coordinated actions of the Northern Fleet servicemen, who were able to take the boat away from the animals without harming them." Arctic wildlife 1, Russians 0
[AOL] The 2020 presidential race is well underway, and while some of the early hopefuls have dropped their bids, there are still a handful of Democratic contenders looking to land on the official ballot.
One of the more prominent candidates, Senator Elizabeth Warren, is putting a lot of effort behind her 2020 bid.
Warren, who is currently a U.S. Senator in Massachusetts, is regarded as one of the more liberal candidates in the current Democratic race. The senator has built her campaign on promising middle-class Americans to fight for their equality. and raise their taxes, but she's not talking about that
"Rich guys have been waging class warfare against hard-working people for decades ," Warren said in her speech announcing her candidacy for president. " I say it’s time to fight back!"
In February, the senator filed personal financial disclosures for her candidacy which were obtained by The Center for Public Integrity and later revealed on Twitter. According to the documents, Warren amassed a majority of her wealth from bond and mutual funds -- as well as retirement accounts and book royalties. The politician and former lawyer, along with her husband, also have two real estate properties: a $3 million Victorian in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and an $800,000 condo in Washington, D.C.
Forbes reported the presidential hopeful is worth an estimated $12 million.

Made a minor hobby of trying to figure it all out, starting with the geography, and am gradually gaining on it. Big laugh recently (partly sheer joy, partly at self for reacting that way) at stumbling across pics of the actual filling-in [cue heavenly choir] of a previously mysterious part of the FPC. [KhaamaPress] The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the civilian foreign intelligence service of the United States has been publishing photos which purportedly show the beginning of CIA operatives’ operation in Afghanistan after 9/11.
Some photos can be seen at the link, though it is not clear they are from the tweets in question.
CIA started publishing the photos on 19th of September, apparently coinciding with the first operation conducted by the operatives of CIA, just 8 days after the 9/11 incident.
In a Twitter post published on 19th of September 2019, CIA stated "9/19/01: Eight days after 9/11, CIA officers pick up $3 million cash in three cardboard boxes. This money would enable the Northern Alliance (NA) commanders to pay their troops and convince other tribes to rally to the NA rather than fight them."
CIA posted another picture on Twitter with the caption "9/20/01: The first full day of travel for team JAWBREAKER. It would take them six days in total to arrive in Afghanistan. Once there, they would no longer be able to rely on modern modes of transportation to navigate the steep Afghan hills and valleys. #15Days"
Furthermore, CIA posted another picture on its official Twitter account earlier this evening with the caption stating "CIA officers on team JAWBREAKER brought many different skills with them, including fluency in Russian, Dari, and Farsi, which would help them forge relationships necessary to acquire food, supplies, and intelligence critical to finding senior al-Qa’ida leaders."
Nearly 3,000 people bit the dust after the al-Qaeda Death Eaters launched a series of coordinated attacks against the United States on 11 of September 2001.

[DAWN] Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... on Tuesday highlighted the plight of eight million Kashmiris who are suffering "in an open jail" under a lockdown in India-Indian Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. The India-occupied region has been facing a clampdown since August 5, when the Indian government revoked Article 370 of the Indian constitution, stripping it of it’s special status.
Thousands of people, mostly politicians, have also been reportedly detained or arrested since the move.
The premier, during a presser in New York, shared his conversations with various people he met in the city who had relayed to him their stories of not being able to contact their relatives and family members.
"We know of mass arrests. We know that the entire leadership of Kashmir ‐ even those leaders who were pro-India ‐ are now in jails, somewhere in India.
"We know that young people, boys have been picked up. We know that [even] hospitals aren't functioning," he said.
"My whole point of coming here was to highlight this. This is unprecedented in this day and age."
[DAWN] Google won a major case in the Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... an Union on Tuesday, when the bloc’s top court ruled that the US internet giant doesn’t have to extend the EU’s "right to be forgotten" rules to its search engines globally.
The European Court of Justice said there "is no obligation under EU law for a search engine operator" to extend beyond the EU member states the court’s 2014 ruling that people have the right to control what appears when their name is searched online.
It said, however, that a search engine operator must put measures in place to discourage internet users from going outside the EU to find that information.
The case involving the US tech company and La Belle France’s data privacy regulator highlights the need to balance data privacy and protection concerns against the public’s right to information. It also raises questions about how to enforce differing jurisdictions when it comes to the borderless internet.
The case stems from the EU court’s 2014 ruling that people have the right to control what appears when their name is searched online. That decision forced Google to delete links to outdated or embarrassing personal information that popped up in searches within the 28-nation bloc.
One year later, the French privacy watchdog wanted Google to remove results on all its search engines on request, and not just European country sites like www.google.fr.

[BREITBART] The Maryknoll liberation theologists missionaries have thrown their support behind 16-year-old climate activist Greta "Pippi" Thunberg ...an autistic sixteen year old Swedish expert on climate change... , comparing her to the Virgin Mary. I don't think she's gonna spawn a messiah.
"Christians getting their knickers all in a twist over the passionate, articulate & knowledgeable witness of Greta Thunberg because of her age seem to overlook the age of the Virgin Mary at the time of the Annunciation," the group wrote on Twitter. The Virgin Mary didn't know anything about climate change.
"Young women can & have changed the world," they concluded. They set fire to Joan of Arc. Valeria Messalina got a really short haircut when Claudius discovered he had a husband-in-law. Cleopatra dropped an asp into her cleavage.
The tweet was sent Tuesday from the official Twitter account of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, whose registered name is the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, founded in 1911. They've been junior commies since I was in short pants.
"We follow Jesus in serving the poor and others in need in 22 countries, including the U.S." states the group, which emphasizes its work in promoting social justice. I already said that.
In her address to the United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... Monday, Ms. Thunberg said that that world leaders "have stolen my dreams, my childhood, with your empty words and yet I’m one of the lucky ones." Greta's never had to practice getting under her desk in case of nuclear attack. Which of us has had it tougher? Neither of us had it as tough as the kids in Germany who were rounded up, put on a train with all their families, and shipped off to Majdenek or some garden spot like that. Just ask Anne Frank how tough she had it. Nor has Saint Greta ever had to pay a Hutu to shoot her instead of hacking her Tutsi ass to death. Ptui.

[IsraelTimes] A new UN report on combating anti-Semitism has warned that the phenomenon is on the rise in the world, particularly among white supremacists and Islamists, and is "toxic" to societies in which it allowed to proliferate. It urged governments to act to curb hatred through outreach and education.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon on Monday praised the report, and particularly what he said was its "determination" that the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) "encourages anti-Semitism" ‐ though the document actually made no such claim.
The report by the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Ahmed Shaheed, said that anti-Semitic incidents were on the rise in several countries that follow such trends, creating "a climate of fear among a substantial number of Jews, impairing their right to manifest their religion."
It warned that "anti-Semitism, if left unchecked by governments, poses risks not only to Jews, but also to members of other minority communities" because it is "toxic to democracy... and threatens all societies in which it goes unchallenged."
The report also said the issue has received "scant attention as a human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. issue" and noted that "in many states anti-Semitic harassment is significantly under-reported."
It urged nations to "identify, document, and prohibit" incidents of anti-Semitic hate crimes, to grow government outreach to Jewish communities and to work on education and awareness programs to stop the spread of hateful views.
As for the causes behind the rise in anti-Semitism, the rapporteur cited growing use of anti-Semitic tropes by white supremacists, neo-Nazi ...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both.... s and radical Islamists; and it took note of reports "left-wing anti-Semitism" in various countries, "in which individuals claiming to hold anti-racist and anti-imperialist views employ anti-Semitic narratives or tropes in the course of expressing anger at policies or practices of the Government of Israel."
The report went on to say it "notes claims that the objectives, activities and effects of the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement are fundamentally antisemitic." However it went on to note that "these allegations are rejected by the BDS movement."
Possibly misreading this statement, Israel’s mission to the UN said the report "stresses" that the BDS movement is one of the chief causes of rising anti-Semitism and is "fundamentally anti-Semitic."
Israeli envoy Danon said in a statement: "We welcome the publication of an unprecedented report on behalf of world nations against the phenomenon of anti-Semitism. The report is another example of the change in the UN [attitude] towards Israel and the determination that the BDS movement encourages anti-Semitism is an important statement by the UN."
He added: "Anti-Semitism has no place in our society, and must be denunciated everywhere."
In late August the UN’s anti-racism committee criticized Paleostinian authorities, calling on them to act against "racist hate speech and hate crimes," including incitement to violence against Israelis and Jews.
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in a report on the Paleostinians said it was concerned about "hate speech in certain media outlets, especially those controlled by Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,, social media, public officials’ statements and school curricula and textbooks, which fuels hatred and may incite violence, particularly hate speech against Israelis, which at times also fuels anti-Semitism."
The report marked the first time the panel had criticized Paleostinian officials, according to UN Watch, a Geneva-based organization that addressed the session leading to the report.
Earlier in the month during a review of the "State of Paleostine," some delegates at the committee referred to examples of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish content in Paleostinian textbooks and state-owned media outlets.
[DAWN] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. In his address at the UN General Assembly session in New York, Erdogan criticised the international community for failing to pay attention to the Kashmir conflict, which, he said, awaits solution for 72 years.
The president said the stability and prosperity of South Asia cannot be separated from the Kashmir issue.
"In order for the Kashmiri people to look at a safe future together with their Pak and Indian neighbors, it is imperative to solve the problem through dialogue and on the basis of justice and equity, but not through collision," said Erdogan.
"Despite the resolutions adopted, [India-occupied] Kahsmir is still besieged and eight million people are stuck in Kashmir," he said.
"The invasions, conflicts and terrorist activities for almost four decades in Afghanistan have led to instability in the region," he said while talking about the region.

From September 9 to 21, new access roads were created, buildings were completed and additional construction equipment was brought in to the base.
Work has also continued on two border crossings on either side of the Syria-Iraq border. An official Iraqi-controlled crossing is not yet active, but could be made operational shortly.
The second crossing, which is believed to be controlled by Iran through Shiite militias, is under "intense construction," according to ImageSat.
This can be seen in the large amount of construction equipment visible at the site.

Mr. Erdogan then told the media that Su-35s or Su-57s could replace Lockheed’s F-35s after their delivery was blocked by Washington following Turkey’s decision to purchase Russia’s S-400 air defence system.
Earlier this year, the US kicked Turkey off its F-35 programme after Ankara bought S-400s from Russia. The US claimed that S-400 batteries could pose a security and intelligence threat to the F-35.
Turkey slammed the US decision as unlawful. Some US politicians even urged President Trump to impose sanctions on Turkey over its S-400 deal with Russia.

[DAWN] National Disaster Management Authority Chairman Lt Gen Mohammad Afzal held a presser on Tuesday evening to brief the media regarding the damages suffered and rescue operations underway in the wake of a 5.8-magnitude earthquake which hit the northern parts of the country.
"Right now, I can confirm the death of 10 people. Some reports have placed the figure at 17 and some at 15, but I can only confirm 10," said Lt Gen Afzal.
"Approximately 100 are injured. Some reports say 300 are injured. Some of the injured only suffered minor injuries, so if I were to count those with serious injuries, the figure is around 100," he added.
"In Mirpur, besides the city, a small qasba Jatla, and two small villages Manda and Afzalpur were among the areas hit the worst," he said, adding, "Even in these areas, the most damage was to the infrastructure there."
Besides this, some far-flung villages in Bhimber have reported injuries to people as well as small structural damages.
Speaking of infrastructural damage, Lt Gen Afzal said that the main road going from Mangla to Jatla, which runs alongside a river, has suffered major damage.
He said that three major bridges had also been damaged, along with people's residences.

[ToloNews] The Afghan Ministry of Public Health verified over 14,600 maimed for the same period.
New figures by the Ministry of Public Health showed that conflict-related violence in the past 12 months has left more than 3,300 civilians dead and over 14,600 others maimed.
The time period measured is from September 16, 2018, to September 10, 2019.
"Our system is active in all 34 provinces and we collect data...and when the numbers are verified we enter them into the system," said Mir Lais Mustafa, head of the Incident Response Department of the Command and Control Center.
The report does not make claims about which military or group is to blame, although it measures those killed in suicide kabooms, which is 460 killed, and 1,200 maimed.
And while bully boy groups are responsible for a high number of civilian casualties, those monitoring the human cost of the war say that all sides in the fighting are responsible.
The Independent Human Rights Commission has raised concerns over civilian casualties due to Afghan and foreign forces’ operations and Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s in the country.
"Unfortunately, we have witnessed civilian casualties from the security forces operations in the Sayed Abad district of central Wardak province and Khogyani district of Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province," said Abdul Shakur Mashkur, a commissioner at the Independent Human Rights Commission.
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior state that they have made efforts to prevent civilian casualties during military operations.
"Security forces are trying hard to take care of civilians’ lives and not harm them," said Rohullah Ahmadzai, a front man for the Ministry of Defense.
"Whenever civilians are harmed by a mistake of the security forces, we investigate the incident and those who have been negligent face serious punishment," says Nusrat Rahimi, a front man for the Ministry of Interior.
But Selab Ghorzand, a civil society activist, asks: "Why do they operate this way and kill civilians? We think that they [security forces] have kangaroo courts like the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and the ISIS ...embracing their inner Islamic Brute... , which is wrong."
In its latest report, the United Nations ...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense... also expressed concern over civilian casualties in the Afghan war and called on the parties involved in the war to take measures to reduce civilian’s casualties.
According to this latest measurement by the Command and Control Center, Baghlan, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... , and Kunar are the provinces with highest civilians’ casualties and Bamyan, Daikondi, Paktia and Balkh have the lowest civilian casualties.

Civilian deaths were about 6500 in 2018 in Syria. They have been much higher and in 2019 will probably be a bit lower.
Civilian deaths in Iraq were about 3300 in 2018 but were far higher in the years when ISIS had territory.
Civilian deaths in the Algerian Civil war between various Islamist groups and the govt also had years with 20,000 civilian deaths and years with deaths about 2000.

This is interesting - I was just thinking about this sort of thing last night. I was wondering just how overt certain elements of people in this country would become in their disdain (to put it mildly) of the USA. Guess I have part of my answer now.

The man takes apart their coverage and clearly shows what's wrong with it. How do you get from there to "showing disdain for America"?

To quote the great modern philosopher John McEnroe, 'you cannot be serious'. A group of US reporters and TV talking heads, one of who was described as a 'bought & paid for fucking tool' pushing Iranian propaganda, is somehow rooting for our side?
You may or may have not noticed my qualifier of the use of the word 'disdain'. If you did notice the qualifier, you would have not needed to make your comment.

Not to stir things up, but Herb IMO adds plenty of valuable commentary here.
At the same time, disagrees strongly about US military interventionism, and says some things that annoy me -- just as I'm sure any of us annoys others from time to time.
I don't often agree with him on that issue, but it's a legitimate view that is shared by some of our wisest political scientists, notably John Mearsheimer of U. Chicago, and wise and patriotic senior military officers who study the matter, such as Col. Andrew Bacevic of Boston U.
Bacevic lost a son in the Iraq War. I don't agree with him on everything, but he's a good man.
I have no reason to assume that Herb is arguing in other than good faith. Maybe they're weak arguments, maybe they're just rants, but -- hey, it's Rantburg, Jake.

[ToloNews] More Afghans than ever would like to leave their country permanently if possible, survey reveals.
As Afghanistan prepares for its third presidential election since the fall of the Taliban ...Arabic for students... regime in 2001, a new survey by US analytics and advisory company Gallup reports that a record number of Afghans -- including nearly half of the Afghan women -- would rather be someplace else, leaving their war-torn country permanently if they could.
The survey shows that life in Afghanistan in 2018 was, on many levels, worse than at any point in the past decade. Afghans felt less safe, struggled more to find work and afford the basics, and rated their lives worse than anyone else on the planet.
All about feelings, not physical reality.
Underscoring their desperation in this environment, more Afghans than ever also said they would like to leave their country permanently if they could -- and join the mass exodus that has taken place in the country since 2015, according to the survey.
In the midst of the deadliest year for Afghan civilians since the United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... began documenting casualties--and as millions of Afghans also grappled with food insecurity--a record-high 41% of Afghans said they would move to another country permanently if they could.
Afghans’ desire to migrate has increased in every region of the country within the past two years, but it is highest in South-Western Afghanistan, where the Taliban have retaken control and where severe drought has driven many Afghans deeper into poverty and food insecurity, the survey says, adding that a slim majority in the South-Western region (52%) said they would like to move away permanently if they could.
According to the survey, the percentage of Afghan women who say they would like to move has nearly tripled since 2016, and for the first time, significantly more women (47%) than men (35%) want to leave.
The survey reveals that Afghans who say they would like to move to another country are most likely to name Germany (19%) and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... (19%), the two countries where Afghan refugees make up the second-largest refugee populations after Syrians, as their preferred destination.
Moreover, it shows that the US, which is often the No. 1 desired destination for most of the world’s potential migrants colonists, is the next-most mentioned after the first two, with 12% saying they would like to move there.

[ToloNews] Prime Minister Khan has spoken to Trump, Khalilzad about Afghan grinding of the peace processor.
Pakistain’s Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five... in an interview at the Council on Foreign Relations In New York on Monday admitted that Pakistain’s Inter-Services Intelligence ...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir... (ISI) trained al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups to fight in Afghanistan.
...and they are still doing so.
Although it is common knowledge that the Pak military, with the support of the United States, trained the so-called mujahedeen who fought Soviet troops in Afghanistan, it is the first time that any Pak leader has directly confirmed publicly that al-Qaeda was among those groups.
"The Pak Army, ISI, trained al-Qaeda and all these groups to fight in Afghanistan. There were always links--there had to be links, because they trained them," said the prime minister in a candid conversation in which he offered a historical context for the regional culture, and conflict.
"The resistance was organized by Pak ISI training these krazed killers, who were invited from all over the Moslem world to do jihad against the Soviet Union. And so we created these krazed killer groups to fight the Soviets," Khan said, continuing: "They were indoctrinated that fighting foreign occupation is jihad. But now, when the US arrived in Afghanistan, it was supposed to be terrorism. So Pakistain took a real battering in this."
But despite the battering, the ISI kept standing up units, training them, supplying them, paying them, and giving them orders to attack thus and such targets in India and Afghanistan. The confession does not end on with 9/11, dude.
Khan offered to get involved with the political solution for peace in Afghanistan after the US-Taliban ...Arabic for students... talks broke down in early September.
A political solution can only follow when the fighters are no longer supported in their fighting...
"There’s not going to be a military solution. For nineteen years if you have not been able to succeed, you’re not going to be able to succeed in another nineteen years." Khan said, adding: "there needs to be some sort of a peace deal. There has to be a political settlement."
“Pay us off, then go away, leaving us to enjoy our Afghan hinterland in case we actually lose our ongoing war against Hinjoo India,” Khan added. “Then you will no longer be attacked by our sock puppets on our orders. Should they choose to go rogue like Al Qaeda did on 9/11, however, that cannot possibly be our fault.”
Khan said that for the nearly 13 months that he has been prime minister, he has sought peace with Afghanistan.
He sought a very special kind of Afghan peace, though, the kind where peace means “Surrender, infidel!”
On US and Taliban peace talks, Khan lamented the last-minute scuttling of the deal by US President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... , and wished Pakistain had been consulted; however, the Trump Administration has been responsive to Khan’s recent overtures. The US’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, met with Khan Sunday to brief him on the details of the nine rounds of US-Taliban peace talks in Doha, and the US White House reported that President Donald Trump also had a meeting with Khan on Monday to discuss Afghanistan.
“Nice country ya got there, Khanny baby — be a shame if something happened to it...”
The Israeli perspective on the speech can be seen here, along with a video of the entire thing.
[DAWN] US President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... on Tuesday denounced Iran's "blood lust" and called on other nations to join the United States to pressure Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. "We want partners, not adversaries," Trump said in an address to the United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... General Assembly annual gathering of world leaders.
In his third annual appearance at the United Nations, Trump offered a more subdued tone compared to the bombast of his previous speeches to the UN in 2017 and 2018, looking to convey a more reassuring presence as he asks Americans for a second term next year despite a fresh push for his impeachment among some Democrats.
While offering his habitual defence of national illusory sovereignty, Trump tempered his language toward Iran, stressing the US desire for peaceful relations with all and calling for collective, rather than unilateral, action. "America's knows that while anyone can make war, only the most courageous can choose peace," he said.
The September 14 attacks in Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... have rattled the Middle East and raised concerns about a broader war. Trump has shown restraint in the crisis, holding back from military retaliation despite pressure from conservative hawks, at least for now.
