[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man who allegedly hurled stones at Israeli vehicles near the West Bank settlement of Neria was shot by Israeli soldiers.
According to the Rescuers Without Borders emergency service, the suspect was taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek hospital in moderate condition. "Target practice time!"
At least one car was damaged by a stone allegedly hurled by Paleostinians in the area, according to local authorities.
The Israel Defense Forces says troops are searching for a second suspect who expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

The Democrats have seen a similar surge. In 2022, there have been 337,245 early votes and 31,704 absentee votes, compared with only 134,542 early votes and 13,051 absentee votes in 2018.
The early vote among minorities in particular is up markedly.

I visit Tom's Hardware (the link above) every day. It's one of the more reputable tech sites in the sense that it leans towards actual tech as opposed to press-release fanboi stenography.
That said, all the tech sites are hopelessly infested with left wing politics and rooting for China is a common thing.
When I want to cause some agita, I drop a comment on such sites to the effect that "I don't go to knitting sites for recipes and I don't come to tech sites for politics." And the wailing begins.
On some tech sites, pretty much every comment thread is hijacked into politics within the first ten comments.
Tech people are sure that their narrow area of expertise (or interest, there are plenty of non-experts anxious to posture that they actually are experts) makes them smart in every other area of human endeavor. This gets you Bill Gates playing doctor and similar.
Consume their non-tech nonsense at your own risk.

Whiskey Mike, I regularly have two (2) counts of my postings for my 'nym ('magpie') when I clear my cookies -- one (the smaller) for when I reestablish my 'nym and the second (the larger) when it settles down and recognizes that the 'nym has been used for years... Which, it appears, they have. The team there has just published a paper (hat-tip National Pulse): Combined insertion of basic and non-basic amino acids at the hemagglutinin cleavage site of highly pathogenic H7N9 virus promotes replication and pathogenicity in chickens and mice.
The paper was published in Virologica Sinica, the journal put out by the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Its editor-in-chief is Zheng-Li Shi. That name should be familiar to those of you who have been following the covid story, as she is the infamous "Bat Lady" of Wuhan.

The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... party, said the police operation began just after midnight and officers were still raiding the houses of supporters late in the day.
Khan took to Twitter, condemning the arrests of his supporters.
No government official was immediately available for comment.
The development came two days after Khan urged his supporters to gather in Islamabad on Wednesday for a demonstration that he said would continuuntil the government announced a date for snap elections.
Khan, who served as prime minister for over three and half years, was ousted by a no-confidence vote in parliament in April. He was replaced as prime minister by Shahbaz Sharif ...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab... Khan contends his removal was the result of a U.S.-organized plot. Washington has denied the claim, and Sharif calls it a pack of lies.
Imran asks 'neutrals', judges to do the right thing
[Dawn] PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday lashed out at the government for trying to stop the party's long march to Islamabad, asking the country's judiciary and 'neutrals' to "do the right thing".
He expressed these views while addressing a news conference in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire... , in which he pilloried the government and described its recent moves as "akin to what dictators do".
His speech came a day after a police crackdown on his party workers, in which a number of workers were allegedly rounded up. A policeman was also martyred the same night in an operation in Lahore. The government and the PTI blame each other for the killing.

PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan, in a tweet early on Tuesday morning, called the "brutal" crackdown the "fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... nature of PML-N when in power". Peaceful protest was the right of the citizens, he said, adding that the crackdown raised serious questions about the "handlers".
The former premier recalled that during his tenure PPP, PML-N and JUI-F's anti-government marches were never stopped nor did the PTI government carry out any crackdown on their workers.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the Punjab police raided nearly 1,100 houses last night, while over 400 PTI leaders, both men and women, had been arrested.
In a video message, former Sindh governor Imran Ismail claimed that PTI workers in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... were "harassed" and taken into custody as well.
Columnist Huma Yusuf posted a video of retired Justice Nasira Iqbal, mother of PTI senator Walid Iqbal, who was woken up at 2am after the Punjab police "roughed up the night staff and left".
Barrister Asad Rahim Khan, meanwhile, noted that raiding Hammad Azhar's house without a single charge two days after former human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... minister Shireen Mazari's arrest showed the "lawless, countrywide sweep against innocent political opponents".
Note that originally — at the bottom of the article — there was the promise to allow the march, then suddenly the decision was made to arrest everyone.
[Dawn] Federal ministers and PTI leaders blamed each other on Tuesday in the aftermath of the killing of a policeman who was shot full of holes during a raid in Lahore against people "taking the law into their own hands" last night.
Kamal Ahmad, a police constable, was killed during an operation in Lahore's Model Town locality last night after an unidentified person opened fire on him, Lahore DIG Operations Sohail Chaudhry told news hounds outside a hospital.
The raid coincided with the post-midnight police crackdown on PTI leaders' residences, ahead of the party's planned long march to Islamabad on May 25 (tomorrow).
DIG Chaudhry, without naming any political party, said the police was cracking down on activists who were "taking the law into their own hands and doing hooliganism".
When the police party reached the home of an activist — Sajid Hussain, against whom the police filed an FIR afterwards — an unidentified person opened fire from its rooftop, the DIG said.
"A bullet hit the upper part of the constable's chest, which is a very critical area. A lot of effort was made [to save him] but when we reached here (the hospital), he had become frail."
The policeman later succumbed to his wounds, DIG Chaudhry said. He vowed that the person responsible for the firing would not be able to escape and raids were being conducted to arrest him.
FIR FILED
A first information report (FIR) filed later notably does not mention the police operation was linked to the raids on PTI leaders, but does identify the alleged shooter.
The FIR stated that a police party, during a search operation in Model Town, rang the doorbell of Hussain's house at 1:40am. Shortly afterwards, two "armed people", identified as Sajid Hussain and Akrama Bukhari, appeared on the terrace and Hussain asked in a "threatening tone" why they (police) had come to his house late at night, it said.
The police party responded that they were conducting a search operation regarding tenancy, according to the FIR. However Hussain and his son became angry and started "threatening the officials with dire consequences".
"Hussain asked his son Bukhari to fire straight at the police party. Bukhari, with the intention of killing, fired straight at the police party. A bullet struck the chest of Constable Kamal Ahmad, who was standing outside the house."
Hussain also fired at the police party and a bullet hit the government vehicle, the FIR stated. The constable went titzup, it added.
The FIR was registered under Sections 302 (murder), 34 (common intention), 324 (attempt to murder), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 427 (causing damage) of the Pakistain Penal Code, and Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act.
Both Hussain and his son Bukhari were arrested later, police said.
There were reports of late-night police action at the homes of former federal minister Hammad Azhar in Lahore, while the Lal Haveli residence of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed as well as the homes of Fayyazul Hasan Chohan and Ijaz Khan Jazi in Rawalpindi were also purportedly raided.
In addition, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry also claimed in a tweet that his home in Islamabad was under observation, which was why he had left for Jhelum.
Videos circulating on social media purportedly showed police raiding the homes of other Punjab-based PTI leaders, including Usman Dar, Malik Waqar Ahmed, Engineer Kashif Kharal, Mazhar Iqbal Gujjar and others.
GOVT, PTI TRADE BLAME
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah termed the policeman's killing "proof that [former prime minister and PTI Chairman] Imran Khan is a terrorist".
"Kamal Ahmad's killers are Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid and their followers," he claimed and vowed to hold the planners of the "khooni (bloody) march" accountable.
The interior minister also claimed that Imran wanted to start a civil war in the country in the guise of the long march.
"We will prevent civil war, chaos and disorder in the country through the law," he stressed.
Meanwhile, ...back at the revival hall, the SWAT team had finally arrived... former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that police officials had "misbehaved" with women and kiddies and "tortured" people. Over 450 workers, including women, were taken into custody, he claimed.
"Ex-servicemen and people who are retired from civil institutions were also targeted. According to the reports, the family of a retired major shot up forced entry into their home after midnight believing they were robbers."
As a result, the policeman lost his life, he added and claimed that Sanaullah and Hamza were responsible for the incident.
Fawad said the police had conducted raids on 1,100 homes last night and entered people's houses without any warrants.
SECTION 144 IMPOSED IN PUNJAB
Later in the day, PML-N Deputy Secretary General Attaullah Tarar told a presser in Lahore that Section 144 was being imposed in the province, adding that the government had taken the decision after consulting with its allies.
He came down hard on the PTI, saying that they wanted to disrupt peace and spread anarchy in the province. "What was Constable Kamal Ahmad's fault? [...] What answer will you give to the five children he has left behind? Have you lost all of your humanity?" he asked.
The PML-N leader maintained that the official was merely performing his duty when PTI workers opened fire on him from the roof. He also called out the PTI chairman for "hiding" in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and alleged that he had directed party workers to collect weapons in an effort to disrupt peace in the province.
LATE-NIGHT CRACKDOWN
The opposition party's fears were realised late on Monday night, when despite assurances that their leaders will not be targeted or arrested ahead of the planned march on the capital, police raided the residences of several key PTI figures.
PTI chairman Imran had, on Sunday, announced the PTI's plans to hold an 'Azadi March' on Islamabad on May 25 (tomorrow), reportedly after talks with the establishment over early polls fell flat.
The police action was in stark contrast to the resolve expressed by PM Shehbaz’s spokesperson, who had claimed earlier in the day it had been decided not to arrest any PTI worker ahead of the long march.
Even Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal had made the same commitment when he said that the "coalition government believes in democracy and respects the right to protest". He claimed that as long as whatever Imran Khan does is within the boundaries of the law and Constitution, it would be accepted while the government will deal with protesters if there is any violation.
However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... Hammad Azhar tweeted just before midnight that police had raided his house to arrest him, but that he managed to evade capture. Talking to news hounds, his mother claimed that a heavy police contingent had first knocked at their door before entering to search for her son.
After the incident, former Punjab health minister Yasmeen Rashid reached Azhar's residence and started a sit-in to protest the police action. Footage circulating on social media showed the former Punjab health minister, a cancer survivor, seated on the pavement as police vehicles were visible in the background.

[Green Jihad] Rising gas prices are only getting worse and a German farmer’s recent decision is an indication of this. From the Associated Press:
Stephanie Kirchner’s journey to work has got longer but, she says, cheaper: she has left her SUV at home and switched to real horse power.
Stud farm owner and horse trainer Kirchner, 33, says she decided "it can’t go on like this" after fuel prices jumped following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "Since I also suspected hay harvesting and everything else will become much, much more expensive, we said, ’we have to save a little money,’" she says.
So she has switched to traveling the roughly 6 kilometers (3 1/2 miles) from her home in western Germany by horse-drawn carriage. That turns a one-way trip from 10-15 minutes to as much as an hour.
The AP states Kirchner can save about $250 a month making this switch, provided a horse and carriage is used daily. This is what environmentalists want, a return to primitivism and now the left’s new normal is beginning to be realized thanks to the environmentalist’s war on fossil fuels.
The AP might have also published this as a way to try to help deflect for Joe Biden by ensuring that Kirchner’s claim that the Ukraine conflict is to blame for rising fuel prices was included as a cynical way to keep that talking point alive. But gas price increases are mostly Joe Biden’s fault and no doubt environmentalists are gleeful due to the pain people are feeling at the pump.

U.S. gasoline and diesel prices are soaring to record highs nearly every day these days, as crude oil prices hold above $110 a barrel, the Russian invasion of Ukraine upends global crude and refined product trade flows, and refinery capacity globally is now lower than before the pandemic after some refineries—including in the United States—closed permanently after COVID crippled fuel demand in early 2020. There isn’t a quick fix for all-time high fuel prices in America— or elsewhere — analysts say. The quickest fix is actually not one American consumers would want — a recession that would lead to job losses.
Despite the Biden Administration’s months-long efforts to lower gasoline prices — including massive releases of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) and blaming oil companies for price gouging — U.S. refineries cannot catch up with demand.
Not that demand has soared so much. It’s the capacity for supply, globally and in the U.S, that is now a few million barrels per day lower than it was before the pandemic.

In the latest revelation to emerge from Sussmann’s trial in DC federal court on a count of lying to the FBI, special counsel John Durham’s prosecutors revealed that investigators had received an electronic communication citing a referral from the DOJ "on or about" Sept. 19, 2016, the same day Sussmann met with James Baker, then the FBI’s top lawyer. No need to vet Mike's sources, he's one of us. We'll throw a DOJ blanket over it and keep it internal.
The document, a record of the investigation being opened by agents Curtis Heide and Allison Sands and dated Sept. 23, 2016, did not mention Sussmann as the source of the allegations.
"In that referral, the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE provided the FBI with a white paper that was produced by an anonymous third party," the communication said, before adding: "According to the white paper, a U.S.-based server that is owned by the TRUMP ORGANIZATION has been communicating with the Russian-based ALFA BANK organization in Moscow, Russia."
The document was circulated to several top FBI officials — including Peter Strzok, who oversaw the probe of Clinton’s email server as well as the Trump-Russia investigation, and was famously fired from the bureau in 2018 after the emergence of text messages he sent to his colleague and mistress Lisa Page in which he vowed to help "stop" Trump from winning the White House.

[Townhall] Last week, Judge Elizabeth Gleicher ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood with regards to Michigan's state abortion ban, which would go back into effect should the U.S. Supreme Court rule to overturn Roe v. Wade. Judge Gleicher's decision comes not only as the Supreme Court does indeed look to be going in that direction, but after she had previously represented the abortion provider and continues to make donations. Dave Boucher, who has covered the case for Detroit Free Press, noted that Gleicher was "randomly" assigned the case.
The law, from 1931, would ban abortions in Michigan, except to save the life of the mother.
According to the injunction issued last Tuesday by Judge Gleicher, Planned Parenthood is likely to prevail in arguing that the abortion ban violates the state constitution.

[ZERO] The average age of vehicles on US highways rose for the fifth consecutive year and to a record high, as supply-chain disruptions and inventory challenges prompt owners to hold on to their cars and trucks longer, according to research from S&P Global Mobility.
Semiconductor shortages and inventory challenges were the top drivers in pushing US average vehicle age to 12.2 years, another all-time high.
Chip supply constraints have caused continued parts shortages for carmakers, who have been forced to cut production. The constrained supply of new cars and light trucks, amid a strong demand for personal transportation, could have influenced consumers to continue operating their existing vehicles longer, as inventory levels for both new and used vehicles were depleted across the industry. - S&P Global Mobility
The finding reflects that used car life cycles are being extended because new vehicle supplies are tight. Kelley Blue Book recorded average new car prices at $46,526 in April, another obstacle for prospective buyers. Despite used car prices reversing from lofty levels, they remain out of reach for many, thus consumers are holding on to their vehicles longer.
About a decade ago, a used vehicle with over 100,000 miles would've been deemed a lemon by a consumer, though now, it's common to see multiple owners for one with 200,000 miles.
The increasing average vehicle age and higher mileage point to a "notable increase in repair revenue in the coming year," Todd Campau, associate director of aftermarket solutions at S&P Global Mobility, told Bloomberg.
There's reason to believe the average age of vehicles on US highways will continue marching higher as tight supplies of new and used cars have sparked an unaffordability crisis.

The emergence of high quality used car merchants in the US began about 15 years ago.
It was enabled by the fact that cars were better than they were 20 or 30 years ago.
This is one reason, maybe the most important reason for the phenomenon cited.

If it wasn't for the Gas Crisis of the 70s, American's by and large would never have had the experience of Japanese cars which strangely enough were build right to begin with, engineered well to last an owner, and came without a piece of MSRP paper dangling half way down the door from the window with all the $$ extras. In order to survive, American manufactures had to make a half way decent effort (beyond lobbying for import quotas) to make their products survive more than a model year or two down the road.

Because there was a huge kill-off of older cars, called "cash for clunkers" that artificially reduced the average age of cars. Now things are returning towards normal.

The "Car Allowance Rebate System" was a federal program active in 2009. About 700k cars were turned in.
It was part of the "help car companies' effort that year.
A lot of States had their own version of this.

Vehicles are getting better. It's the rust here in New England that finally gets them. My last car had 250K and the engine and drive train were fine, but the body was badly rusted and finally the gas tank needed replacing, which was a big deal, along with about $3K of "deferred maintenance". [AnNahar] A British-Iranian charity worker who was detained in Tehran for almost six years says she was forced by Iranian officials to sign a false confession to spying before she was freed two months ago.
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe said British government officials were present at Tehran airport when "under duress" she signed the false admission to spying. She said she was told by Iranian officials that "you won't be able to get on the plane" unless she signed.
"The whole thing of me signing the forced confession was filmed," Zaghari-Ratcliffe told the BBC in an interview broadcast Monday. "It's a tool. So I'm sure they will show that some day."
Opposition Labour Party politician Tulip Siddiq, who represents Zaghari-Ratcliffe's home district in London, said the revelation raised "serious questions" for the British government. She said Foreign Secretary Liz Truss "must set out in Parliament what she knew about this shocking revelation and what consequences it could have for my constituent."

Iraq announced victory against IS in late 2017 after three years of ferocious fighting backed by paramilitary forces and the US-led air coalition.

"Exploiting the mostly non-existent border" between Iraq and Syria, the jihadist group still has "between 6,000 and 10,000 fighters across both countries, where it is forming cells and training operatives to launch attacks".
Cells "remain active in desert and rural territories, and the group uses urban areas to expand its clandestine networks", it added.
In April, two soldiers were killed by a jacket wallah during a counter-terrorism operation in an area north of the capital Baghdad.

[NYPost] The city’s vaccine mandate has been put on “pause” for the NYPD so the force can avoid losing nearly 5,000 cops and employees as the weather — and crime — heats up, The Post has learned.
Currently, 91 percent of the NYPD’s uniformed cops and other personnel are vaccinated, City Hall says. That leaves an estimated 4,659 NYPD employees unvaccinated despite a deadline to get the shots by Oct. 29.
“In a nutshell, no decisions will be made, no further members will be forced to leave until further notice,” said a veteran NYPD sergeant, explaining the unwritten rule. “There hasn’t been any memo, just basically keep everything status quo and if issues arise we will revisit it down the road.”
Last month, an undisclosed number of officers received final notices rejecting their requests for religious or medical exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for municipal employees.
But an unspecified number of requests remain pending, letting cops and others in a state of limbo keep working.
Currently, 91 percent of the NYPD’s uniformed cops and other personnel are vaccinated.
One veteran NYPD cop who works in Brooklyn said he was forced to get the vax last month after his appeal for a religious exemption was denied. “I got an email saying if I didn’t get the shot I would be placed on leave without pay and face termination.”
But he added that he knew cops who called the personnel bureau “after the newest denials came down this week.” They were told “the NYPD is not taking any action against anyone who is not vaccinated at this point.”
Said the officer: “For anyone who has been fighting up until this point I am happy there seems to be a pause and hopefully it’s permanent. I can’t undo having to get the shot.”
City Hall denied a slowdown in enforcement.

I think Ukraine gets to decide when the war ends. Pulling western support will not end the war. Ukraine will resort to low level attacks and gorilla type actions.
If the West capitulates and ends support for Ukraine, there is no guarantee Putin will lift his sanctions. Were I he, I would not.

Macron is urging an end to the war based on trading land for peace. So is Draghi. So is US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who is encouraging a ceasefire in calls to his counterpart.
Kissinger is stating the obvious. Eloquently and shrewdly as always, but everyone with a cool eye and a sound mind can see that there is no alternative to a peace settlement that requires Ukraine to give up Crimea and the Donbas.

Kissinger's family was from Furth, Germany. They had no connection at all to either Antwerp or the diamond trade. His father, Louis Kissinger, was a teacher who was forced out of his position by the Nazis in 1938. The family left for England and then made their way to New York where his father took up employment in a brush factory and the Son excelled in US public schools. He served honorably in the Army and wrote movingly (essay, "The Eternal Jew") about his encounters with Nazi concentration camps.

That would be quite difficult. His logic is compelling. Especially this:
“I hope the Ukrainians will match the heroism they have shown with wisdom,” Kissinger said, adding with his famous sense of realpolitik that the proper role for the country is to be a neutral buffer state rather than the frontier of Europe.
This is exactly correct. There can be no peace or security in Europe until Ukraine becomes a neutral buffer state. It cannot be a fault line without causing endless wars.
Kissinger is also persuasive in his critique of the futile and self-destructive attempts to isolate a nation as large and important as Russia.
Kissinger told the World Economic Forum that Russia had been an essential part of Europe for 400 years and had been the guarantor of the European balance of power structure at critical times. European leaders should not lose sight of the longer term relationship, and nor should they risk pushing Russia into a permanent alliance with China.
Kissinger, the master of triangulation, understands this danger better than anyone. This is a far greater danger to the West than the threat of Russian aggression.
The comments came amid growing signs that the Western coalition against Vladimir Putin is fraying badly as the food and energy crisis deepens, and that sanctions may have reached their limits.
It's clear to everyone that now is the time to cut our losses and settle. To join wisdom to heroism, as Kissinger says.

The arguments, if that's what they are, being put forth here are incoherent.
One angry riposte is that Kissinger caused the war in Vietnam, when it was Kennedy who inherited it from Eisenhower who inherited it from the French. Kissinger and Nixon extricated the US from the labyrinth that their Democratic predecessors had plunged into.
Also, the "globalist" slur is very strange in view of the opposition to the war from American anti-globalists such as Senators Rand Paul and Joshua Hawley.
Also, the bizarre comment implying that Ukrainians alone should be allowed to determine the outcome of a war that is destroying the global economy and threatening to make the West significantly weaker and poorer.
The South Vietnamese did not negotiate with the Viet Cong; the US president and his Secretary of State did. The Ukrainian president must have a voice but not the determining one. The world has too much at stake for our interests to be defined solely in terms of our client state's immediate desires.

Look I understand you. Three principles of human behavior - hierarchical, tribal, and territorial. Your loyalty is to your tribe, rationalize it as much as you want. It's easiest to interpret the trolls and other peddlers of the Moscow line as being Putin's wish fulfillment, telling us what he would like to happen. Public opinion in Europe and the United States is turning against the war. The West simply doesn't have the resources to rebuild Ukraine. Trying to do so during a time of hyperinflation and fuel and even food scarcity will send the West into a downward spiral.
The leadership recognises this, which is why we're hearing so many calls for peace now. The Western economies cannot afford for the war to continue more than another month or two at most.

Kissinger's role in the American relationship with China is suspect to say the least. If he wants an end to the war in Ukraine it's most likely because he thinks it's bad for business...his business, that is. He doesn't care about yours.
That said, Crimea was never Ukrainian until Khrushchev made it so in 1954 when, after all, it was all part of the USSR so it didn't matter. As for the rest of the border between Ukraine and Russia, and the ethnic composition of those border regions, the disputes have likely gone on for centuries or even millennia. It was always either the Russian Empire or the Soviet Union that kept things from boiling over. Now that Ukraine is independent, which it never was until the Soviet Union collapsed, these disputes would be ideally settled peacefully by elections. But fat chance of that.
Whatever. Ukraine is not Poland, Lithuania, Finland or even Kazakhstan.
And then there's NATO. Some of you discount Putin's paranoia about NATO/Biden/Deep State intentions. But do you really trust Biden when he says his intentions are strictly peaceful? Can you not understand why Putin doesn't trust him? Do you believe that the State Department and CIA were not involved in the Maidan Coup or do you not care? I would wager that at this very moment a group of Deep State and/or State Department wonks are studying a map of Eastern Europe as if it is a geopolitical chess board...and they don't mean Putin any good. If it wasn't so, Biden wouldn't have been so insistent about NATO expanding into Ukraine. Biden wants this war because he thinks Ukraine can win. He'd be calling for negotiations if he didn't.
And, exactly, what do we gain by Ukraine's membership in NATO? Honestly, I can't think of anything unless it has something to do with the enrichment of the Biden family.
Further, we have the question of what happens in Russia when they lose big time and the oligarchs decide it's time for a putsch? Who knows the answer to this question? Will it be like Poland or will it be like Libya with nukes and Biden standing aside wringing his hands? Kissinger, whatever his faults, has a point about the danger of destabilizing Russia.
Ukraine is outside of the traditional American sphere of influence but well within Russia's. I think very few Americans, and certainly not Biden, know much of anything about the history of that part of the world. And why should we any more than we knew about Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq or Vietnam? All messes, all made worse by American intervention.
It's none of our business and we should stay out of it.
