[Daily Mail] Donald Trump unveils Middle East 'peace deal' with Israel gaining diplomatic relations with UAE in return for abandoning Jared Kushner's 'deal of the century' and not annexing swathes of West Bank

#1  Trump isn't afraid to abandon ideas or policies that aren't valid or to get a better deal. He ditched the "deal of the century", which was kinda crummy to get real results from established nations.

Good on everyone involved to agree to this.

I also want to thank Iran for helping this come to pass with their aggression toward the UAE and Saudi.

#4  I am reminded of a play I saw with my school class, back before the internet.

I can't remember its name, but it was memorable for a couple reasons. First, my first experience with the Phelps Gangs.

OK, set in the future, stage is a multi-person dwelling. There is some sort of a babysitter, not sure if was like HAL or from control room. Resident were told that the outside was deadly, I forget if it was disease or radiation, considering the era probably nuclear fallout or such. Any rate, the residents were just kind of going through their daily motions, kind of ho humm, until one gets tired of it and finds a way to escape.

He gets outside, and the world is lush and beautiful. He finds a critter, and after a bit of acting the audience realizes he found a bunny and didn't know what it was.

This is the second reason it was memorable. My class thought this was the stupidest thing ever. We were kids, when we weren't in school or bed we were outside. Never heard of a rabbit, what a bunch of bull.

Back to the story, roommate catches him sneaking back in, confronts him over a very serious no-no. He gives 'its a wonderful world out there' speech. Well, she is intrigued enough she sneaks out, brings a flower back in to show all the roommates.

Well, she makes a mistake and the authorities find the flower, now they are in real trouble. The all escape, but the rabbit guy gets killed.

The play's dilemma was that although rabbit man died, they didn't realize how miserable their past existence was and how much happier they are now.

How ridiculous! Absurd! Unpossible!

Except here we are, cheering it on, and the actors in the play are today's children.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Diplomatic relations between Israel and UAE
[APNEWS] President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
said on Thursday that the United Arab Emirates and Israel have agreed to establish full diplomatic ties as part of a deal to halt the annexation of occupied land sought by the Paleostinians for their future state.

The announcement makes the UAE the first Gulf Arab state to do so and only the third Arab nation to have active diplomatic ties to Israel.

Trump tweeted a statement from the countries, acknowledging the deal. He then told news hounds in the Oval Office that it was "a truly historic moment."

"Now that the ice has been broken I expect more Arab and Moslem countries will follow the United Arab Emirates," he said.

The recognition grants a rare diplomatic win to Trump ahead of the November election as his efforts to see an end to the war in Afghanistan have yet to come to fruition while efforts to bring peace between Israel and the Paleostinians have made no headway.

For Israel, the announcement comes after years of boasting by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his government enjoys closer ties to Arab nations than publicly acknowledged. Netanyahu has sought to build settlements on lands sought by the Paleostinians and embraced a Trump proposal that would allow him to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank while granting Paleostinians limited autonomy in other areas.

For the UAE, home to skyscraper-studded Dubai and the rolling, oil-rich sand dunes of Abu Dhabi, it further burnishes its international campaign to be seen as a beacon of tolerance in the Middle East despite being governed by autocratic rulers. It also puts the UAE out first in a regional recognition race among neighboring Gulf Arab states.

And for the Paleostinians, who long have relied on Arab backing in their struggle for independence, the announcement marked both a win and setback. While Thursday’s deal halts Israeli annexation plans, the Paleostinians have repeatedly urged Arab governments not to normalize relations with Israel until a peace agreement establishing an independent Paleostinian state is reached.

A joint statement from the U.S., the UAE and Israel was issued immediately after Trump’s tweet. It said delegations would meet in the coming weeks to sign deals on direct flights, security, telecommunications, energy, tourism and health care. The two countries also will partner on fighting the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

"Opening direct ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economics will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation and forging closer people-to-people relations," said the statement by Trump, Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the day-to-day ruler of the UAE. It said the leaders had a three-way call discussing the deal.

#5  They're not a huge player. But they're not the smallest player, either, and hopefully this will lead others to the table. Bringing even one or two more Arab countries to full recognition of Israel will being to completely, finally, destroy the Palestinian "cause".

Congressional Candidate Takes on Soros
[News with Views] Multiple media outlets attacked Marjorie Taylor Greene, a successful Republican congressional candidate in Georgia.
By successful they mean she won the Republican primary...
Why? As "a conservative wife, mother, and businesswoman who stands with President Trump and against the left-wing socialists who want to wreck our country,"she dared to call billionaire left-wing money bags George Soros the "enemy of the people."

In addition to financing Democratic Party politicians and left-wing organizations such as the ACLU, Soros has subsidized a wide array of liberal causes, ranging from abortion rights to gay rights to legalization of dangerous drugs. Even former members of the terrorist Weather Underground, such as Bernardine Dohrn and Linda Evans, have appeared at functions sponsored by his so-called Open Society Institute or accepted its grants.

But Google the name of Marjorie Taylor Greene and you will be bombarded with stories designed to create the impression this Christian woman is a crazy conspiracy theorist. During the campaign, Tucker Carlson highlighted how one of her campaign ads was taken down by YouTube. Nevertheless, she won the nomination with over 57 percent of the vote and received President Trump’s enthusiastic endorsement. She got the support of the people.

One typical charge from an AP story in the New York Post said she "pushes an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, collaborated with the Nazis."

Many "conservatives" in and out of Congress are scared by these charges and shy away from making them. But as Rep. Louis Gohmert discovered, when he consulted the actual interview and went to the videotape, the theory is not anti-Semitic but true. Soros told the "60 Minutes" show, as Gohmert noted, that, "he had no sense of guilt about the role he played in Nazis’ confiscation of property from the Jewish people during the Holocaust."

In addition to the usual and expected charges of racism, the media said Marjorie Taylor Greene either backed or believed in something called the QAnon "conspiracy theory," which apparently has something to do with the idea that sex predators and perhaps Satanists operate at high-levels in American society and the world.

Regarding the latter, the Satanic Temple, an actual organization, is currently offering a "Satanic abortion ritual." The evil of abortion is considered by many Christians not a "choice" but a modern form of paganistic child sacrifice.

In the matter of child predators, haven’t we learned about Jeffrey Epstein? Or what about:

Victor Davis Hanson: US Constitution and traditions are under attack by Democrats
[FOX] Democrats are waging war against traditions and the Constitution.

Several of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary candidates favored the abolishment of the Electoral College. Or, as once-confident candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren put it, "I plan to be the last American president to be elected by the Electoral College."

Furor over the Electoral College among the left arose from the 2000 and 2016 elections. Al Gore and Hillary Clinton, respectively, won the popular votes. But, like three earlier presidents, they lost the Electoral College voting — and with it the presidency.

The Founding Fathers saw a purpose in the Electoral College. It ensured that small, rural states would retain importance in national elections.

Update - Man shot by Secret Service near White House is former boxer with rap sheet
[WAPO via New York Post] The 51-year-old man whose shooting by the Secret Service disrupted President Trump’s press conference is a 6-foot-3 former licensed boxer who was previously charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to a report.

Myron Berryman has been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer after allegedly approaching a Secret Service agent Monday evening while claiming to have a weapon.

The officer shot Berryman in the torso when he "crouched into a shooter’s stance as if about to fire a weapon," officials said.

Berryman, who has lived in Dayton, Ohio, Forrestville, Maryland, and, more recently, Wheeling, West Virginia, was charged in 2012 with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in Prince George’s County, the Washington Post reported.

Chainsaw-wielding men covered in blood terrorize Toronto beachgoers
[New York Post] It wasn’t a Toronto Chain Saw Massacre — but two blood-covered, chainsaw-wielding men terrorized beachgoers in Toronto over the weekend, according to videos and local reports.

The slasher-film-seeming footage, which was posted on Facebook, shows the duo, blood dripping down their shirtless torsos, pointing power tools toward a crowd at Cherry Beach on Sunday morning.

Schweizer: Harris Engaged in ‘a Massive Cover-Up' of Alleged Clergy Sex Abuse
[Breitbart] On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Breitbart News senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer stated that 2020 Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) engaged in a "massive cover-up" of alleged sexual abuse against Catholic priests.

He explained that many "law firms and lawyers and people connected to the church hierarchy" financed the Harris campaign.

Schweizer said Harris did "not well at all, particularly on very sensitive, explosive cases, including child sexual abuse."

"Tucker, from 2004 to 2011, she was San Francisco attorney general," he continued. "She did not prosecute a single case of sexual abuse involving Catholic Church priests. To put that in context, of the 50 largest cities in America, all 50 of them prosecuted at least one case during that time period, except for Kamala Harris. And in addition to that, she inherited, from her predecessor, Terence Hallinan, hundreds of pages of internal Catholic documents that included the names of 40 current or recent priests who had been charged by parishioners with molestation."

"Hallinan was using those documents to build criminal cases, and he was also planning to release them after redacting the names of victims," Schweizer added. "Kamala Harris actually deep-sixed that document and froze those documents, and those documents disappeared, much to the chagrin of victims’ groups. So, it’s a massive cover-up. And a lot of the people that financed her campaign to beat Hallinan were law firms and lawyers and people connected to the church hierarchy, who did not want that — those documents to come out."

Stop Trying To Make ‘Herd Immunity' Happen: Sweden's Attempt At Covid-19 Herd Immunity Failed
[Forbes] - While most countries went into lockdown as Covid-19 spread rapidly across the world, Sweden took a different approach and allowed the controlled spread of coronavirus among the population in attempts to achieve herd immunity.

They relied on individuals to responsibly social distance and slow the spread of the disease, but, according to a new study published by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0141076820945282,
this decision has been a failure.

"It is clear that not only are the rates of viral infection, hospitalisation and mortality (per million population) much higher than those seen in neighbouring Scandinavian countries, but also that the time-course of the epidemic in Sweden is different, with continued persistence of higher infection and mortality well beyond the few critical weeks period seen in Denmark, Finland and Norway," said, lead author Professor David Goldsmith.

Herd immunity is when enough people are immune to a disease, like Covid-19, that the disease can’t be transmitted as easily and thus provides indirect protection

It can be achieved either through vaccination or if enough people catch the disease and develop immunity.

Health authorities predicted that 40% of the Stockholm population would have had the disease and acquired antibodies by May 2020. According to the study, the actual prevalence figure is only around 15%.
And, as we know today, there may not be acquired immunity to Covid 19.
...Many experts point out, it’s still too early to tell which pandemic strategy will be best in the long-term.

The authors note it likely won’t be until as many as two years after the pandemic that we will be able to objectively say which method was most effective.

But new evidence continues to emerge that herd immunity may be more difficult to achieve than thought.

For example, clinical and research findings suggest, only severely infected Covid-19 patients acquire antibodies in the immediate and early recovery phase of their illness.

Early research has shown that immunity, even in those who were severely infected, can fade after a few weeks and there have been anecdotal examples of reinfection, but more research needs to be done.
Given the numbers of research groups* that look for immune memory (acquired immunity to Covid 19), if there were such - we'd seen reports** by now.
*Real researchers, not people like Ioannidis or Scott Atlas.
** Since Covid 19 research can be pre-published without pear review.

So what was the purpose of the article, again? Point fingers? Shame Sweden?

It is likely that some of this inter-Scandinavian difference in mortality outcomes might have also have arisen from a failure to shield the most vulnerable Swedes from viral infections (40%–50% of their cases have been in the elderly nursing home resident population).

So maybe the moral of the story is to protect the elderly and vulnerable?

#18  Does percentages of immigrants in Sweden versus neighbors correlate at all to infection rates?

Norway 16.8% of population (2017)
Sweden 24.1% of population (2017)
Finland 7.3% of population (2018)
Iceland 14.1% of population (2019)

Also where those immigrants are from may make a difference (immigrants from other nordic countries would likely have similar living habits to the locals).

Just throwing the idea out there. I don't really know if 24% vs 16.8% is much of a big deal when it comes to transmission rates in a city or not bu tit sounds like it should be.

#19  #17 Not true. Compare Sweden, and say Denmark on worldometer. The reason you think Sweden finished because at their max they had 102+ deaths per day and now they have 1 or 2 (so you can't see it without placing the arrow). Whereas Danes' max was 20+ and now they've 1 or 2.
So they have the same death rates today. However, 621 Danes died in total vs. 5,770 Swedes.

#20  Going back to school in these parts.

For math sake, rounding numbers, so say population Kansas is 3,000,000.

32,000 confirmed cases over 6 months. No data on how many tests performed, or a false-positive rate.

800 deaths chalked up to China Flu. No data on how many of them were compromised health wise. People are not in nursing homes on their own accord.

That is a 1% got infected rate.

Of those who tested positive, there was a 2.5% attributed mortality rate.

Finding the percentage of lost population puts the handy calculator into scientific notation.

Living wise, we are opposite of the NYC butthole lickers; free range if you will, but not as much as our neighbors to the south, Oklahoma.

So I ask again, how much more time do the models need so the data fits?

My short answer is one week, when the media makes every single kid who shows up at school and measures a higher than normal temperature gets considered a COVID casualty and the teacher union howls about possible mass casualty events.

How early? I thought I recalled something about impacts of exposure to the SARS virus (now SARS-1 because COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-2 virus) so I looked, and here is something about a small scale study (each leg <50) published in Nature a month ago:

Scientists Uncover Evidence That a Level of Pre-Existing COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2 Immunity Is Present in the General Population

[scitechdaily] Singapore scientists uncover SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell immunity in recovered COVID-19 and SARS patients, and in uninfected individuals.

  • Singapore study shows that SARS-CoV-2-specific T cells are present in all recovered COVID-19 patients.

  • These T cells were also found in all subjects who recovered from SARS 17 years ago, and in over 50% of both SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 uninfected individuals tested, suggesting that a level of pre-existing SARS-CoV-2 immunity is present in the general population.

  • Infection and exposure to coronaviruses induces long-lasting memory T cells, which could help in the management of the current pandemic.

This might disappoint the Paleostinian leadership, which hopes that Biden, if elected, will change American policies favoring Israel. Yet when reached by The Media Line, several high-ranking Paleostinian officials declined to comment on Harris’s candidacy.

Prof. Dalal Iriqat, an expert on diplomacy, conflict resolution and strategic planning at the Arab American University in Jenin and a columnist at the al-Quds newspaper, believes it understandable that Paleostinians evaluate matters based on their interests.

"We shouldn’t be upset by the decision or judge it now, as our top priority is to get rid of [President Donald] Trump," she told The Media Line. "Therefore, we have to accept any alternative."

Iriqat says that in terms of American politics and increasing Biden’s chances of winning, his choice was wise and strategic "given the Black Lives Matter campaign going on in the US, and other movements."

She stresses that for Paleostinians, Trump is the main issue. Since December 2017, when he announced US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the Paleostinian leadership has been boycotting his administration.

"I think we need Trump to go, as there won’t be anyone worse than him," she said.

Immunity to Covid-19 could be lost in months, UK study suggests
[The Guardian] - People who have recovered from Covid-19 may lose their immunity to the disease within months, according to research suggesting the virus could reinfect people year after year, like common colds.

In the first longitudinal study of its kind, scientists analysed the immune response of more than 90 patients and healthcare workers at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS foundation trust and found levels of antibodies that can destroy the virus peaked about three weeks after the onset of symptoms then swiftly declined.

Just like in regular coronaviruses: c.f. The time course of the immune response to experimental coronavirus infection of man (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2271881/pdf/epidinfect00023-0213.pdf)

The helium balloons were found in two containers of old clothing items that were headed for Gaza during a customs and security risk assessment operation carried out by the Ashdod customs house in order to prevent the smuggling of weapons and dual-use goods into the Gaza Strip, according to a blurb by the Tax Authority.

The issue was handed over to security officials for further handling. The Tax Authority in Ashdod deals with 90% of the imports into the Gaza Strip and is making efforts to stop the import of balloons in order to prevent the balloon terror from the Strip.

Michelle Obama: Coronavirus an Opportunity to Change ‘How Wealth Is Distributed'
[Breitbart] Wednesday on her new podcast, former first lady Michelle Obama called coronavirus an opportunity to think about "how wealth is distributed" to lower-income essential workers.
Learning about communist redistribution from the late South African president Madiba.
Obama noted the "power" that would enable what "we" could do to allow such actions.
"As long as I get to dip my dick beak in the distribution flow"
Journalist Michele Norris said, "There’s kind of a new COVID vocabulary, isn’t it. There are also words that have always had some meaning, but that take on different meaning now, the word hero, the word essential."

She continued, "I think we will forever think about the word ’essential’ in a different way. And, when we were told to stay home, they got up, got dressed, and went out into the world, risking their lives, to drive garbage trucks, to work in warehouses, to work in grocery stores, to work in hospitals. Often doing invisible, but yes, essential work, and I struggle with it because I’m not sure that we treat them like they’re essential."

Obama replied, "And that’s something that we need to, that’s a part of that reflection, that we need to do, you know. With ourselves, and, and as a community. And we have to think about that, in terms of how wealth is distributed. You know, how, how these essential people are supported. And what does that mean? A lot of these people are broke. They don’t have health insurance. That it, if they were to get sick, as essential as they are, we have not, as a society, deemed it essential to make sure that they can go to the doctor and get the care that they need. And even if they can get COVID care, even if they can get tested, to keep working and doing our stuff, after the effects of the virus have worn off, and they are dealing with some lung issue, or some breathing issue, or asthma, that they don’t have to wait, in a, an emergency room, for hours on end, and then worry, that they can even, afford the prescription medication that they need to survive, I mean we have to think about this. We have to think about the people who are not from this country, who are essential workers. A lot of those folks are still out in the fields picking our corn, and making sure that that food is in our grocery stores, and working in these meatpacking plants, to ensure that the, that the cow that was slaughtered, gets into our bellies."

Bill de Blasio: 'Fair-weather friends' who fled NYC 'will be replaced'
Yes, but will they be anywhere near as rich?
[WASHINGTONTIMES] New York City Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
broke with Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo on trying to lure wealthy New Yorkers back to the city, saying he’s confident that "fair-weather" residents will be replaced by others.

"There’s been an uptick in crime, but it is a problem directly related to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
," Mr. de Blasio said at a press briefing Thursday. "I think you’ll see a certain number of people who leave and after an appropriate time, after there’s a vaccine, will come back. I think you’ll see some people who maybe decide they want a different kind of lifestyle. I think a lot of those people will be replaced by other people coming in.

"For decades now, as people have left New York City they’ve been replaced, and then some, by more and more people coming in. So, I think that pattern will start again over the next couple of years," he said.

The mayor’s comments came after the governor revealed he was personally pleading with rich New Yorkers to return to their homes in Manhattan.

"I literally talk to people all day long who are now in their Hamptons house who also lived here, or in their Hudson Valley house, or in their Connecticut weekend house, and I say, ’You got to come back! When you coming back? We’ll go to dinner! I’ll buy you a drink! Come over, I’ll cook!’" Mr. Cuomo said.

Mr. de Blasio and Democratic state politicians want to raise taxes on the wealthy to help offset the state’s $30 billion coronavirus-related deficit, but Mr. Cuomo claimed that could cause the wealthy residents who fled to never return.

Mr. de Blasio said he isn’t interested in making "decisions based on the wealthy few."

"I was troubled to hear this concept that because wealthy people have a set of concerns about the city that we should accommodate them, that we should build our policies and approaches around them," he said. "That’s not how it works around here anymore. This city is for New Yorkers. This city is for people who live here, work here, fight to make this place better, fight through this crisis. So, there’s a lot of New Yorkers who are wealthy, who are true believers in New York City and will stand and fight with us. And there are some who may be fair-weather friends, but they will be replaced by others. But we must build our policies around working people.”

Senator Ron Johnson grilled over hesitance to subpoena James Comey and others in 'Russiagate' investigation
[WashingtonExaminer] A top GOP senator faced a grilling from a conservative radio show host over not yet subpoenaing ex-officials, such as fired FBI Director James Comey, in his inquiry into the "Russiagate" controversy.

Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, was pressed by Hugh Hewitt during his radio show on Wednesday morning. The conservative commentator said Republican voters are frustrated that Johnson and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham have not called in Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, or fired FBI special agent Peter Strzok to testify under oath about what the host called “an attempted coup” against President Trump.

“Well, first of all, I need approval of my committee members,” Johnson said. He added that “it was tough enough” getting subpoenas approved against Blue Star Strategies in his inquiry into the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy and allegations of corruption related to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The Wisconsin Republican also said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had assigned Graham “to really investigate that portion of the corruption.” Johnson emphasized how, with his committee being made up of eight Republicans and six Democrats, “if I lose one, I lose the vote … I had a devil of a time just getting the subpoena authority that I got.”

But in June, Johnson's committee voted to give him the authority to subpoena Comey, Brennan, Strzok, and numerous others, including former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Thus far, Johnson has not subpoenaed any of those people to testify.

"Chairman Johnson is committed to running a thorough investigation into abuses by the Obama administration toward the Trump campaign,” a spokesperson for Johnson told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday. “Committee members want Chairman Johnson to attempt to get voluntary compliance, and also to be fully prepared for interviews by obtaining necessary documents, before compelling testimony. Chairman Johnson has been working for months to gather documents and information from witnesses on a voluntary basis but will subpoena witnesses when necessary. And as he has mentioned, his patience is wearing thin."

Hewitt told Johnson, “The election is here, and whether it’s you or Lindsey, we’re out of time. You guys have blown the time … We’ve waited three years for someone to put Comey under oath — you or Lindsey — I’ll blame you both.”

When asked if he would publicly commit to bringing a subpoena for Comey up for a vote during the next committee hearing, Johnson said, “Not on a radio show, Hugh.”

Johnson said he was pursuing documents to assist with future questioning, calling Comey “a slippery character, so you need documents to effectively question him.” The Senate chairman emphasized that he had subpoenaed current FBI Director Christopher Wray for a host of documents related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation just a few days ago. He also pointed to the revelations from a newly declassified document from Sunday that showed that the FBI apparently misled the Senate Intelligence Committee in early 2018 about the reliability of British ex-spy Christopher Steele's anti-Trump dossier.

But when pressed by Hewitt about “which Republican doesn’t want to get to the bottom of this” Trump-Russia controversy, Johnson said, “We had a number of my committee members that were highly concerned about how this looks politically.” The radio show host asked for the identity of the “screw-up” on the committee blocking subpoenas, but the Republican senator declined and said, “I’m just not going to be naming names that way."

“I have had it with Republicans in the Senate not calling up anyone that we want to hear from,” Hewitt retorted. “I had the president on yesterday, and he says it goes far beyond the FBI into the intelligence community … Documents don’t matter. Videotape and witnesses matter.”
    Gateway Pundit adds:
According to Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, Johnson's committee now says no one is blocking any subpoenas for Comey/Brennan, rather there's just a desire to exhaust all options to get them to testify voluntarily.

Black community blaming 'racism' for police chief's departure
[KIRO7] Some members of the African American community say racism prompted Seattle's first Black female police chief to retire.

They are blaming one of Seattle's most diverse city councils ever. They point out there are no Black people on the City Council for the first time since the 1960s. And they believe racism forced Carmen Best to leave her job as the city's top cop.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best wouldn't call out the Seattle City Council.

"Yeah, I'm not using that harsh word," she said.

Neither would Mayor Jenny Summer of Love Durkan
...Democrat Maress of Seattle, who allowed a chunk of the downtown of her city to be turned into an autonomous combat zone...
    , her boss.

"They wanted to micromanage and play mini-police chief," was all Durkan would say. "It showed a complete of respect."
    Lack of a "lack"?
"This is an anti-Blackness issue at the highest level," declared police accountability activist Harriett Walden.

Unlike Best and Durkan, Walden did not hesitate to blame racism among the city's diverse City Council for forcing Best out.

"So people of color, at the end of the day, they don't always stand for us," she said.

Walden says she sees the "anti-Blackness" on the current council.

"That's right," she said. "I see it on this council. Because they wouldn't have done it against O'Toole. I don't care how many people was in the streets marching. There's no way they would have defunded the police department with a white lady."

It was largely due to Walden's strong advocacy that Best was sworn in to the top job almost two years ago.

She replaced Kathleen O'Toole, the city's first female police chief.

But activists said then Best's nearly three decades with SPD would likely not produce radical change.

Rev. Kenneth Ransfer, pastor of the Greater Mount Baker Missionary Baptist Church and among Best's most steadfast supporters, believes she was ultimately wronged by a council led by people of color.

"We have colorism within our own community," said Ransfer. "So I mean the move, to me, was an attack upon a Black woman, one of our first Black police chief(s)."

Reverend Walden says she now wants an initiative to change back to city wide voting for the City Council.

She believes that it will create a more diverse body that cares about the entire city.

Who Owned the Chemicals that Blew Up Beirut? No One Will Say
[gCaptain] In the murky story of how a cache of highly explosive ammonium nitrate ended up on the Beirut waterfront, one thing is clear — no one has ever publicly come forward to claim it.

There are many unanswered questions surrounding last week’s huge, deadly blast in the Lebanese capital, but ownership should be among the easiest to resolve.

Clear identification of ownership, especially of a cargo as dangerous as that carried by the Moldovan-flagged Rhosus when it sailed into Beirut seven years ago, is fundamental to shipping, the key to insuring it and settling disputes that often arise.

Security forces foil escape attempt at al-Hol camp
[Rudaw] Security forces (Asayish) caught four Russian female Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) prisoners in a failed escape attempt from al-Hol camp on Tuesday, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

"Four Russian women with four of their sons were attempting to escape from al-Hol camp," SOHR reported.

According to SOHR, the female prisoners coordinated their escape with a water tanker driver working for the Syrian Red Islamic Thingy.

Several women have attempted to escape in a similar manner, with the North Press Agency obtaining footage of women hiding in a water tanker in June before being apprehended by authorities.

This is the second escape attempt at the camp in less than a week.

Five women were caught attempting to escape with seven of their children but were also stopped by Asayish, according to SOHR.

Located in northeast Syria’s Hasaka province, approximately 68,000 people live in al-Hol camp. 90 percent are women and kiddies.

Most residents are Iraqis and Syrians, half of whom are believed to have links to the terror group, after they were arrested during the liberation of ISIS territories during the campaign to oust the group from its last holdout in the Syrian town of Baghouz in March 2019.

About 10,000 ISIS-related suspects in the camp are foreign nationals, according to data published by Rojava Information Center.

At least six killed, dozens injured in family feud in Egypt's Fayoum
[Al Ahram] At least six people were killed and 35 injured in a fight over a plot of farmland in the Egyptian governorate of Fayoum, south of Cairo, in the early hours of Wednesday, al-Ahram Arabic news website and other local news outlets reported.

Initial investigations revealed the brawl in the Agmeen village took place between a group of 19 cousins over a piece of land. The squabble soon escalated into a clash with firearms that lasted for several hours.

Fayoum security directorate dispatched anti-riot forces to stop the fight and police cordoned off the crime site.

The victims were transferred to a hospital and prosecutors are currently investigating the incident.

At least four people have been arrested as authorities continue to search for some of the suspects on the lam.

Weapons used in feuds are often unlicensed and smuggled into the country illegally. The government proposed several initiatives in the past years to encourage people to hand over their illegal weapons since 2011 without legal accountability.

UK reels from biggest Covid hit of ANY major economy with GDP slumping a FIFTH as the country officially plunges into recession and Rishi Sunak warns of jobs bloodbath - but glimmer of hope as growth rebounded by 8.7% in June
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
    • The UK economy has officially entered recession after figures showed a second quarter of contraction
That’s what happens when you lock everyone down. It reverses when its opened up again, people being what they are.
    • GDP was down a shocking 20.4 per cent in the three month to June at height of the coronavirus crisis
Not shocking at all, under the circumstances.
    • UK's hit in the first six months of 2020 was the worst in the G7 with slump set to be the biggest in 100 years
Never before has much of the world deliberately closed up shop for the duration. In 1918-1920 the Spanish flu rampaged round the world in four waves, infecting 500 million and killing 17-50 million. Current COVID-19 world statistics are 20.8 million infections and 747,258 deaths since January, where the death rate started flattening in April.
    • The economy did recover to an extent in the month of June with the ONS finding 8.7 per cent growth

Odd that they'd have some form of 'abolish police' protest there as the officers and deputies are integral to the area and mostly relatives of the other community folks.

No, Kamala Harris Isn't A ‘Moderate' ‐ She's A Radical Threat To America
[Federalist] Once Joe Biden named Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate for the upcoming 2020 election, it didn’t take long for the media to begin its latest attempt to gaslight Americans.

In the Associated Press announcement of Biden’s choice, AP writers Kathleen Ronayne and Will Weissert write approvingly of Harris’s "centrist record" as a contributing factor in the decision. Longtime political analyst and lobbyist Doug Schoen praised Biden’s pick while arguing Harris "could help Biden solidify his position among centrist voters and even moderate Republican voters."

Not to be outdone, The New York Times characterized Harris as a "pragmatic moderate." In an additional Harris announcement for the Times, Jonathan Martin and Astead W. Herndon refer to Harris and Biden as "two moderates" who share "center-left politics."

Yet an analysis of Harris’s voting record in the U.S. Senate, as well as policies she has proposed, reveal quite a different story. Her positions form an agenda nearly entirely in lock-step with the radical leftist ideology that has taken over the Democratic Party. Indeed, if Biden wins the 2020 race for the White House, Sen. Harris (D-Calif.) will find herself in a unique position to pose a genuine threat to the values that built the United States of America.

According to a detailed assessment by Voteview, Harris holds a voting record farther left than 97 percent of Democrats in the 116th Senate, and more liberal than 99 percent of the Senate as a whole. Of current members of the U.S. Senate, Harris ranks more liberal than Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) while placing as the Democrat with the most liberal voting record in the chamber aside from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

Harris has stated that illegal immigrants in the United States are not criminals — which defines both logic and traditional definitions of standard English words like "illegal" and "criminal" — and once likened U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to members of the Ku Klux Klan for having the temerity to enforce the law.

#6  What I love about Kamala is they chose her thinking she was a prosecutor when younger so tough on crime will like her, and she was progressive as a senator so progressives will like her...

But the reality Progressives hate her tough on crime years and anyone that likes Law Enforcement hates her progressive years. Then her attacks on civil liberties and her immigration and not really black American history chases off pretty much everyone else in the big Democrat tent.

Worst choice possible if they want to unite their party. Of course if they want to hide bodies that are nearly uncovered, well she might be a good choice in that case.

Kamala Harris Takes Aim At Gun Owners
[Newsmax] Anyone who believes in the Second Amendment should be wary if Sen. Kamala Harris becomes the next vice president of the United States, sitting a heartbeat away from the White House.

Harris is no better than Beto "hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15s" O'Rourke on the issue of gun control, which should also incentivize Republicans to drive down to the polls and vote in person.

One year ago, Harris tweeted that she would "take executive action to:

"Revoke the licenses of gun manufacturers & dealers that break the law.
"Require anyone who sells more than 5 guns/yr to run a background check on all gun sales.
"Ban the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons."

On May 20 of this year, Harris said she would also ban states from enacting "stand your ground" laws, which permit armed homeowners to defend themselves against the threat of murder, rape, kidnapping or bodily harm rather than retreat.

Speaking to the Michael Bloomberg-founded Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control advocacy nonprofit, Harris called such laws "racist" because they often target people of color.

"@KamalaHarris gets it," Everytown reported. "She knows that racist Stand Your Ground laws make communities less safe and that solving America's gun violence crisis requires common-sense, proven solutions. We can't wait to elect her as our next vice president!"

Eliminating "stand your ground" laws would mean that any intended victim would have to retreat from the danger rather than defend his life and that of his loved ones.

Biden's vice presidential pick hasn't escaped the notice of the National Rifle Association. It observed that Biden and Harris were practically Siamese twins when it came to scrapping gun rights.

"Biden Chooses 2nd Amendment-Hating @KamalaHarris as his VP," the NRA tweeted.

"Harris's presidential campaign died soon after announcing extreme gun control agendas. Her plan was to ignore democratic processes & enact gun control by executive order. Biden & Harris will dismantle the 2nd Amendment."

    And that's not necessarily hyperbole.

Biden would, according to his campaign website, promote a sweeping gun control program that would include:

Support for a ban on assault weapons, which he mischaracterizes as "weapons of war."
Hold gun manufacturers liable for acts of gun violence.
Restrict the number of firearms a person may possess.
Incentivize states to enact "red flag" laws and gun registries.

When New York Attorney General Letitia James sued the NRA to have the gun rights organization dissolved, Harris sent her congratulations.

"The @NRA bought the president and promotes members of Congress that turn a blind eye to the gun violence epidemic," she tweeted.

"It takes leaders with courage to stand up to them—thank you, @TishJames."

300 yards - 5 rounds sitting, slow-fire, 5 rounds kneeling, slow- fire, cuff sling
10 rounds, rapid-fire, prone, cuff sling

    500 yards - 10 rounds, slow-fire, prone, cuff sling

As I recall, the slow-fire strings were 10 minutes each and the rapid-fire were 20 seconds with a mandatory reload. All bulls-eye targets. 50 rounds total, possible score 250. 190 for Marksman, 210 for Sharpshooter and 220 for Expert.

Digital ID, Bill Gates vaccine record, and payments system combo to be trialed in Africa

[ReclaimTheNet.org] A potential to raise eyebrows for privacy and civil liberty concerns.

Africa is now becoming the testing ground for a biometric digital identity platform developed in a partnership between Mastercard, Trust Stamp, and Bill Gates’ GAVI Vaccine Alliance. While Trust Stamp provides identification authentication through AI, GAVI is an international organization created by tech mogul Bill Gates for supposedly helping underprivileged children access new as well as "under-used" vaccines.

The digital identity platform was first launched in 2018 and is now going to be implemented in the "remote" and "low-income" communities in West Africa. GAVI and Mastercard have created a digital vaccination record known as "Wellness Pass". Now the platform will be integrated with this Wellness Pass.

The biometric digital identity platform will have the vaccination records from GAVI, a payment system through Mastercard, and AI-based identity authentication via Trust Stamp. As of now, the whole project has been funded via donor funds to GAVI, which amount to nearly four million dollars, and a similar donation amount from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

With the COVID-19 saga in full swing, Trust Stamp’s authentication system is integrated with Wellness Pass. Once the vaccine for coronavirus is made available, it will be integrated into the whole system to keep track of the vaccinations in West Africa. It is worth noting that the whole biometric digital identity platform is launched with a motivation to bolster the markets for vaccines.

Mastercard, which is also in the alliance, says that it is working for fulfilling its vision of a "World Beyond Cash" that it outlined a few years ago.

What’s more, Trust Stamp, the organization providing AI-based authentication, is also looking to commercialize its proprietary technologies.

Mastercard say that Trust Stamp is looking to partner with "correctional systems" to provide authentication services to individuals on parole, without the need for ankle bracelets. What seems to be an effort to improve immunization measures can also be an experiment for fine-tuning the technologies involved before they’re made available for widespread global use.

[Concealed Carry.com] As I sit back and try to not consume any news because it's utterly depressing, I realize that it's my job to do just that and deliver at least some of it to you a couple of times per week. Over the weekend, Riley posted a screenshot in our company chat of an incident that took place on the Indiana streets that has me scratching my head.

The above picture was not a part of what he posted but is from the incident itself. I thought this particular scene was important from the video because it shows two guys with guns in their hands, stopping traffic under threat of force.

Most of the people talking about it don't seem to notice the second guy, only the first.

I had to do some digging to find out what happened, which brought me to the cesspool that is Twitter.

Sudan to send police to Red Sea State amid deadly tribal clashes
[Al Ahram] The Sudanese government on Wednesday announced its decision to send police forces to the Red Sea State in eastern Sudan which is witnessing tribal festivities, Sudan's council of ministers said.

"Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok on Wednesday issued instructions to enhance the security presence by sending central reserve forces to the Red Sea State with the stress on the decision by the local authorities to impose full curfew in the state's capital city of Port Sudan," said the council in a statement.

Hamdok urged all social and civil components in eastern Sudan to abide by peacefulness and avoid escalation, according to the statement.

Since Sunday, Port Sudan has been witnessing armed festivities between members of Bani Amer and al-Nuba tribes, which reportedly left at least 25 people dead, according to unofficial statistics.

Fulton County (Atlanta) DA Trounced In Runoff Election 3 To 1
(CNN) ‐ Paul Howard, who handled Atlanta school cheating scandal, the Ray Lewis murder case and the police killing of Rayshard Brooks during his lengthy tenure, lost the runoff election as Fulton County’s top prosecutor.

Opponent Fani Willis, who prosecuted cases for years in the county district attorney’s office, outpaced her old boss in June’s Democratic primary, but neither contestant received 50% of the vote, spurring Tuesday’s runoff.

Willis trounced the incumbent Howard on Tuesday by a 3-to-1 margin, according to county election results. With almost 91% of precincts reporting, Willis had more than 43,000 votes, about 73% of the tally, to Howard’s 15,800.

There were no Republican candidates on the ballot during the June primary.

Alleged Gang Rape on Kabul-Kandahar Highway Investigated
[ToloNews] In response to reports of an incident involving armed robbery followed by a gang rape of a girl on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, local officials in Ghazni province have said that an investigation has been launched. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night in Mullah Noh area of Ghazni’s Andar district.

Pictures shared on social media show that passenger vehicles were stopped by the gunnies, and their belongings were stolen and then a maiden of tender years was raped by the armed thieves.

"One of them asked the passengers to come down, based on the reports, and unfortunately the rape also happened," said Naseer Ahmad Faqeeri, the head of Ghazni's provincial council.

"Our security and intelligence agencies are trying to find out the identity of these thieves," said Wahidullah Jumazada, a front man for the Ghazni governor.

Until now there has been no information about the identity of the victim and also police in Ghazni have said that no one has so far registered any complaint about such an incident.

"This is an unforgivable crime, it is an inhuman and un-Islamic crime, the perpetrators behind the crime should be referred to the law as soon as possible," said Sima Samar, adviser to the president on human rights

#2  Until now there has been no information about the identity of the victim and also police in Ghazni have said that no one has so far registered any complaint about such an incident.

No victim, no crime. Next case!

Portland's new DA drops charges against HUNDREDS arrested over 76 nights of riots and won't prosecute future 'non-deliberate' acts including criminal trespass, harassment and disorderly conduct
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
    • Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced a policy change on Tuesday saying they won't prosecute non-violent misdemeanor charges

    • It includes interfering with police, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, escape or harassment

    • Allegations will be dropped if they don’t involve 'deliberate' property damage, theft or force against another person or threats of force

    • It doesn't affect federal charges, of which there are dozens, including arson

    • The DA acknowledged those caught in situations where they have been tear gassed while exercising their First Amendment right

    • About 550 charges have been referred to the DA since May 29 and they include 140 felonies, 45 of which are currently being pursued by authorities

    • DA said the majority of those arrested amid racial injustice protests are white

#2  Time to start doing what she refuses to prosecute outside her house.

Just like the dems refused to prosecute the KKK, the dems refuse to prosecute their new armed wing, antifa.

    #3  This isn't anarchy.

This is the imposition of a new order and authority on the populace.

    IOW anarcho-tyranny.

#5  I don't see what incentive the police have to get involved against the rioters, but they have to know the DA will be rabid to prosecute any "white-supremacist vigilantes," and you know there are some cops who would like to make that pinch.

What book influenced or inspired you the most

Until We Reckon: Violence, Mass Incarceration, and a Road to Repair by Danielle Sered. This is one of the best books on restorative justice that I’ve come across, about doing things differently in the criminal justice system. Danielle Sered writes beautifully about a system that centers what a victim truly needs to heal, and what holding someone accountable for actions that harm others can look like. Her work shows that we can get better public safety outcomes and serve victims of crime better by moving away from an overly punitive paradigm, and incorporating restorative practices and philosophy into our criminal justice system.

#9  Schmidt was elected in May.

His predecessor, Rod Underhill, retired about six months before the end of his term, but the fact is that Multinomah County voted Schmidt in, and he would doing what he's doing sooner or later.

May they get it good and hard.
