#2 U.S. is not so much an empire as the head of a disturbed household - with a bunch of rebellious teenagers raving about 11 p.m. deadlines and parental "oppression" - but who still manage shock and disbelief when you cut off their money supply.I don't envy you.

#7 To ensure continued operation of my Sympathy Meter, I installed a digital upgrade to replace the mechanical, dial-based readout of the last one.

I'll have to reread the manual, however, since for this story, the display is showing a negative value that is dropping faster than my 409K.
