Information endangering National Security
h/t Instapundit

Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, who was fired for lying under oath, spent $70,000 in taxpayer dollars on a conference table. The FBI also redacted the conference table’s steep price tag from documents that members of the Senate Judiciary Committee requested, in an apparent attempt to hide it from Congress.

Naked is the Best Disguise: the Bipartisan Deep State
h/t Instapundit
One of the mysteries of the deep state is just how deep it is. Like the Kryptos sculpture in the courtyard of the Central Intelligence Agency, it has proven remarkably resistant to decoding since its emergence in the aftermath of World War II, after the creation of the CIA. It is, in a very real sense, its own cipher, hiding in plain sight all along and just daring the civilians to call it by its name: the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Party.

As it happens, the leaders of the PBFP sat for a group portrait the other day. The occasion was the funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush, wife of George Herbert Walker "Poppy" Bush and mother of George Walker Bush, American presidents 41 and 43, respectively. Also in the photograph was the man who beat Poppy, William Jefferson Blythe III, more commonly known as Bill Clinton; and Barack Hussein Obama II, also known as Barry Soetoro, the man who succeeded George W. Bush. And their wives, of course, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, former senator from New York, former secretary of state in the Obama Administration, and the defeated candidate in the 2016 presidential election.

...The picture is less evocative of a group portrait of past presidents as it is of a family, in this case the Kennedys, with Poppy sitting in for old Joe, the crippled paterfamilias, surrounded by the offspring who went on to wreak so much havoc upon the American body politic. For, like some Biblical genealogy, Bush I begat Clinton who begat Bush II, who would have begotten Clinton II were in not for Obama, who might have begotten either Clinton II redux or Bush III (Jeb!) were it not for Trump.

If it all sounds rather incestuous, that’s because it is.

Europe
The Great German Meltdown
h/t Instapundit
Every 20 to 50 years in Germany, things start unraveling. Germans feel aggrieved. Ideas and movements gyrate wildly between far left and far right extremes. And the Germans finally find consensus in a sense of victimhood paradoxically expressed as national chauvinism. Germany’s neighbors in 1870, 1914, 1939‐and increasingly in the present‐usually bear the brunt of this national meltdown.

Germany is supposed to be the economic powerhouse of Europe, its financial leader, and its trusted and responsible political center. Often it plays those roles superbly. But recently, it’s been cracking up‐in a way that is hauntingly familiar to its European neighbors. On mass immigration, it is beginning to terrify the nearby nations of Eastern Europe. On Brexit, it bullies the British. On finance, it alienates the southern Europeans. On Russia, it irks the Baltic States and makes the Scandinavians uneasy by doing business with the Russian energy interests. And on all matters American, it increasingly seems incensed.

#4  On finance, it alienates the southern Europeans.

Here I disagree. The Euro was imposed on Germany by France after reunification.

The Maastricht treaty turned out to be a scheme for enabling southern European loan fraud on a gigantic scale. When the fraud was exposed it turned into an economic suicide pact.

#5  The article has its bizarre moments. Treating Germany as a monolithic entity, homogeneous from top to bottom. A Bavarian is a Brandenburger is a Silesian.
Another problem can be the result of "No consensus" in a Parliamentary country. The country wanders rudderless because to make a ruling coalition the deals must be struck and lesser, radical groups demand a hand at the helm. The Greens want "No Nukes', for example, and to the Inner Circle it is a price easier to pay than exile to minority status...

Shaheen Corps confirm Afghan army casualties in Faryab attack
[Khaama Press] The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North has confirmed the casualties of the Afghan armed forces in an overnight attack by the Talibs in northern Faryabn province.

The Shaheen Corps in a statement confirmed that the Taliban

murderous Moslems launched a coordinated attack on Gulzar and Gulzar-1 check posts in Sherin Tagab district late on Wednesday night.

The source further added that the Afghan forces responded to the Taliban attack but three soldiers bit the dust during the clash and at least five others were maimed.

According to Shaheen, at least three M16 rifles and a check post have fallen into the hands of the Taliban myrmidons.

In the meantime, the Shaheen Corps says at least five Taliban murderous Moslems were also killed and seven others were maimed during the festivities.

The Shaheen Corps says additional forces have been deployed in the area to suppress the Taliban myrmidons.

On the other hand, reports emerging from the area suggest that 12 Afghan soldiers have bit the dust during the clash and a number of others have sustained injuries.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups including Talibs have not commented regarding the report so far.

Al-Shabaab Attacks Separate Military Bases In Lower Shabelle Region
[RADIOSHABELLE] The Al Qaeda-allied al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
bully boyz have launched well-organized overnight attacks on several Somali military bases in the country’s southern volatile Lower Shabelle region.

The first attack took place in Bula-Mareer village after the armed fighters raided a key army outpost, sparking a heavy shootout that raged on for several hours during the night.

Similarly, the bully boyz staged another assault against Somali government troops manning a base in Km-50 area in the same region. It’s not clear the figures of the casualties yet.

Since the holy month of Ramadan started last week, Al-Shabaab has intensified attacks in the country, mainly in Mogadishu and nearby areas to topple the UN-backed government.

AU Confirms ISIS Infiltration In Countries, Including Somalia
[RADIOSHABELLE] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
has come to be known as the most dangerous jihadist groups, after making gains in Syria and Iraq in the recent past.

The group, initially known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), was formed in April 2013, growing out of AL-Qaeda.

Although the group has been disowned by AL-Qaeda, It remains the main jihadist groups fighting government forces in Iraq and Syria, from where it draws a name ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).

The African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...

Speaking to journalist at the 5th head of intelligence and Security services of member States of IGAD and EAC meeting in Entebbe, Fransisco Madeira, a special representative of the African Union chairperson in Somalia said, the threat of the ISIS in Eastern Africa and Africa is real.

Madeira says, given that the ISIS is being expelled from the Gulf, they are taking advantage of the Indian Ocean coastline to infiltrate but also activate sleeper terror cells. So far, there is 100 percent evidence of ISIS operations in Somalia’s Puntland

and have since extended towards Mogadishu.

The Director-General Internal Security Organizations Col Kaka Bagyenda says there is proof that ISIS has collaboration with the Allied Democratic Front (ADF) which has its operation base in DRC.

The group is said to be led by His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...

At the beginning of this year, three Ugandans were reportedly locked away

Currently, the known terrorist organizations operating in Africa include; ADF, Alshabaab and Boko Haram

Jihadist rebels attack Aleppo city for second time today
[ALMASDARNEWS] For the second time today, the jihadist rebels have launched a powerful attack on the bustling provincial capital of Aleppo.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
fired missiles and artillery shells towards the Mogambo neighborhood and al-Zahra’a Association Quarter in northwest Aleppo.

No details have been released regarding the casualties.

Earlier today, the jihadist rebels attacked the al-Zahra’a Quarter, prompting the Syrian Army to respond with a powerful counter-assault on al-Layraoun and Kafr Hamra.

In the coming weeks, the Syrian Army is expected to kickoff their offensive to clear these last suburbs under the control of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in Aleppo.

No Russian air defense missile systems crossed Russia-Ukraine border - top brass
[ALMASDARNEWS] None of the Russian Army’s air defense missile systems ever crossed the border between Russia and Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Thursday, commenting on the findings released by the Joint Investigation Team on the MH17 crash in Donbass in 2014.

"We got acquainted with the statements made at today’s presser by representatives of the international investigation team on probing the crash of the Malaysian MH17 Boeing over Ukraine on July 17, 2014," the defense ministry stated.

"None of the Russian Army’s air defense missile systems ever crossed the Russia-Ukraine border," the ministry said.

Moscow presented overwhelming evidence proving the use of Ukrainian Buk missile systems in downing flight MH17, the ministry said.

"While cooperating with Dutch law enforcement agencies, Russia presented overwhelming evidence proving that Ukrainian Buk missile systems had been used to down the flight en-route from the Netherlands," the statement reads.

"Moreover, all the primary data received by the Utyos-T radar station, which was operating in the [Russian] Rostov region on July 17, 2014, was passed to the international investigative group," the defense ministry added. "The radar station did not record any aerial objects approaching the Boeing from the east, particularly from the direction of the Snezhnoye and Pervomaiskoye settlements," the statement says.

"The Dutch investigation’s determination to justify its conclusions by using only graphically photos posted on social media causes concern," the statement reads.

"The most important thing that we would like to draw attention to is that Dutch Sherlocks rejected testimonies from eyewitnesses living in Ukrainian settlements close to the crash site, which mention a missile launch from an area controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces," the Russian Defense Ministry added.

Over 20 illegal immigrants wounded in human trafficker’s gunfire after mass escape
[Libya Observer] At least 20 illegal immigrants colonists were maimed on Wednesday in Bani Walid town, 170 southwest of Tripoli

and 11 from Somalia - tried to escape from a hiding place in a site called "factory 51" when the local trafficker holding them named "Musa Diyab" shot up them, leaving more than 20 maimed.

The immigrants colonists were taken to Bani Walid hospital. A doctor said the injuries vary from medium to severe.

There were no reports of deaths.

is trying to shake down Publix.
...which is a grocery chain...
The baby public face of the gun-control movement demanded one million dollars Thursday from the Florida-based grocery chain in a tweet, just one day after calling for a “die-in” protest at its stores.

Publix is being targeted by Mr. Hogg for its support of Adam Putnam, a Republican gubernatorial candidate who is now the state’s agricultural commissioner. The Tampa Bay Times reported earlier this week that Publix had given $670,000 during the last three years to Putnam campaigns.

Mr. Hogg not only sought atonement money
Cold, hard, virtue signaling...
from the grocery chain in Thursday’s tweet, he also demanded a pledge of ideological fealty to the gun-control movement.

“I call on @Publix to donate double the money they gave to Putman [sic] to the Stoneman Douglas Victims fund, $1,000,000. And never support an A rated NRA politician again,” he wrote.

And their ethnic selection in foods is rather good....I like their pickled Okra and their Indian Basmati Rice and their Spanish selection, the Jewish section is a little weird , I see its defines=d and I am not a big fan of Latke and Matzo myself, but I like to see its there.

And a big butt of Ham for just six dollars is nice and four Pork Chops for the same is good. And fresh baked Bread for sandwiches is nice every day. Five dollars for a big fresh Apple Pie is a treat. Lots of cheap PUBLIX brand names too...always like to get their own Raisan Bran.
Ham hocks are available if I ask....I like ham hocks to flavor my beans and cornbread.

faceless myrmidons suffered casualties during an overnight clash in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.

According to the local officials, the latest clash took place in the vicinity of Chora district and as a result at least sixteen gunnies were killed.

The officials are saying that the clash has also left at least eight security personnel martyred, including coppers and soldiers of the Afghan National Army.

The district administrative chief of Chora Amin Khaliqi confirmed the clash and the casualties toll of the Taliban and security forces.

Khaliqi further added that several Taliban faceless myrmidons have also sustained injuries during the clash which also left a number of security personnel maimed.

According to Khaliqi, the Talibs launched a coordinated attack late on Wednesday night to capture the district but faced a resistance from the security personnel.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups including Taliban faceless myrmidons have not commented regarding the report so far.

Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan where the Taliban faceless myrmidons are actively operating in some of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

US Airstrike In Against Al-Shabab Near Mogadishu Kills 10 Fighters
[RADIOSHABELLE] The U.S. military says it has carried out an Arclight airstrike outside Somalia’s capital that killed 10 al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
Death Eaters.

The U.S. Africa Command says it has carried out 14 such airstrikes so far this year against the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab myrmidon group, which continues to hold some rural areas of the Horn of Africa nation.

Dozens of U.S. airstrikes were carried out last year after the Trump administration approved expanded military operations against al-Shabaab, which was blamed for an October truck bombing in Mogadishu that killed more than 500 people.

The new statement says the U.S. military assesses that no non-combatants were killed in Wednesday’s strike about 15 miles southwest of Mogadishu.

The U.S. has faced accusations in recent months of killing civilians in joint operations with Somali forces against al-Shabaab.

Abducted UN staff member and her child released in Kabul
[Khaama Press] The United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan confirms that a UN employee who was kidnapped with her child has been released in Kabul.

"The United Nations in Afghanistan welcomes the release in Kabul of a colleague and her child held hostage since January, while expressing outrage at their abduction and the earlier murder of another colleague who was also seized during the same incident," UNAMA said in a statement.

The statement further adds that the release of the woman and her young son is of enormous relief to their loved ones, colleagues and to the entire UN family in Afghanistan.

"We condemn the shameful abduction and what appears to be the deliberate murder of one of our colleagues," said Ingrid Hayden, the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Acting Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). "Our thoughts are with the families most affected by this terrible crime and we urge authorities to do everything within their powers to bring the perpetrators to account."

According to UNAMA, the two kidnapped UN personnel, both Afghan citizens, worked in Kabul with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). They went missing on 22 January 2018 when their vehicle was halted by unknown assailants. The driver’s body was recovered in Kabul on 16 March.

"Throughout an extremely difficult period, the UN has worked with the relevant authorities to secure the release of all those kidnapped, and the UN expresses its appreciation to Afghan law enforcement agencies and all others who assisted in the release," UNAMA says.

According to UNAMA, Afghan nationals make up the vast majority of staff working with the United Nations in Afghanistan. Their professionalism, dedication and the sacrifices they make in the interests of development and security are critical to the building of peace in Afghanistan.

Iraq
Iraqi president condemns deadly suicide bomb attack near Baghdad park
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) ‐ Iraqi President Fuad Masum has condemned an overnight suicide kaboom near a park in the Iraqi capital Baghdad that left 14 people killed and maimed.

The attack took place around midnight Wednesday when a jacket wallah detonated his boom belt near an amusement park in al-Shula neighborhood in northwestern Baghdad.

There were children among the casualties.

This heinous crime shows how perpetrators of such terrorist attacks are coward and have no moral values, the Iraqi president said.

Masum called on Iraqi security forces to remain vigilant and bring all bully boyz on the lam to trial to be punished for their crimes.

He further offered condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

No group has so far grabbed credit for the attack, but the Islamic State

(IS) Death Eater group is believed to be behind the blast as it used to target areas where crowds of people gather, including markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.

5 Dead in Baghdad Cafe Suicide Bombing Claimed by IS

[AnNahar] At least five people were killed and several others maimed when a jacket wallah struck a cafe in Baghdad, police said Thursday, in a pre-dawn attack claimed by the Islamic State group.

"A suicide bomber blew up his boom belt while he was surrounded by police near a public garden in al-Shoala district," a mainly Shiite northern neighborhood of the capital, the statement by the security forces said.

IS grabbed credit for the attack and said it killed 15 people, while naming the bomber as Abu Umar al-Ansari.

"He entered into the crowd of apostates and detonated his boom belt, killing 15... and wounding over 19 others", it said in a statement.

A police source told AFP five people had been killed and 16 others maimed in the overnight bombing, which hit people who had gathered after breaking their daily Ramadan fast.

Those killed were a woman, a girl and three coppers, according to the source.

One of the dead coppers was named as Lieutenant Rami Dhaher, an intelligence officer, who was hailed as a "hero" in the media.

The dead officer's name was also cited in the IS statement claiming the attack.

The attack came on the seventh day of Ramadan fasting, a period regularly hit by bloody bully boy violence in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion that toppled dictator Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Cafes in Iraq are particularly busy at night during this Islamic holy month, with families and friends gathering to relax and eat before the fast re-starts at dawn.

Europe
The Euros, Iran, and things that make you go hmmmmmmm
[AFP] Deutsche Bank slashes over 7,000 jobs in major shake-up
Germany's largest lender Deutsche Bank said Thursday it will slash over 7,000 jobs and dramatically scale back its investment banking activities as it seeks to turn the page on years of losses.

The announcement came just hours before the bank's annual general meeting kicked off, where newly appointed chief executive Christian Sewing sought to reassure unhappy investors Deutsche is ready to do what it takes to return to profitability.

"We are not yet where we should be. Therefore we must act, and we must act swiftly and forcefully," Sewing told shareholders in Frankfurt.

In a statement, Deutsche said the number of full-time positions globally would fall from 97,000 "to well below 90,000". "The associated personnel reductions are underway," it added.

Deutsche did not mention which countries would be affected, but said a quarter of the jobs in its equities and sales trading business would be cut.

The jobs cull is the first big decision taken by Sewing, who unexpectedly replaced CEO John Cryan in early April.

Sewing had already signalled he was planning deep cuts at Deutsche's trouble-plagued investment banking arm, shifting the focus to more stable business activities such as retail banking, particularly in Europe.

"We remain committed to our corporate and investment bank and our international presence," Sewing said.

"We are Europe's alternative in the international financing and capital markets business. However, we must concentrate on what we truly do well."

As part of the revamp, Deutsche added that it will reduce the investment bank's exposures by over 100 billion euros, or around 10 percent.

Deutsche also said it would step up its cost-cutting drive, aiming to reduce adjusted costs to 22 billion euros ($26 billion) in 2019, compared with 23 billion this year.

"Overall, we see today's announcement as the right step," JPMorgan analysts said in a client note.

Investors appeared unimpressed however, with Deutsche shares slipping 1.10 percent to 10.78 by 0945 GMT, against a Dax index of leading German shares up 0.16 percent.

- Angry shareholders -
Thursday's shareholder gathering is likely to be a stormy one, with investors expected to vent their anger over the bank's disappointing stock performance, poor earnings results and last month's turbulent leadership reshuffle.

Former CEO Cryan was unceremoniously ousted after coming under growing pressure from leading shareholders and supervisory board chief Paul Achleitner, who accused the Briton of taking too long to get the financial giant back on track after it posted its third year of losses in 2017.

Sewing, a Deutsche veteran, has vowed to refocus Deutsche Bank on retail banking and asset management, seen as more stable sources of income, while slimming down its share trading and other investment banking activities.

In corporate banking, Deutsche plans to slash its commitment to the United States and Asia, and instead focus more on Germany and Europe.

Other items on Deutsche's restructuring to-do list include fully integrating subsidiary Postbank into its German retail banking operations and further reducing its massive holdings of financial derivatives.

A Gift That Keeps on Giving
A German bomb disposal team Thursday gave the all-clear after defusing an unexploded World War II bomb that forced a mass evacuation in the city of Dresden.

The operation had been complicated by a fire sparked when specialists blasted off the bomb's fuse, which had forced them to stay clear of the site for hours until the flames were extinguished.

Afghanistan
US blames Pakistan for the failures in Afghanistan, claims Hafiz Saeed
[Khaama Press] The leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
claims that the United States blames Pakistain for its failures in Afghanistan while accusing Washington of using ISIS as a weapon against the Moslem countries.

Saeed who is also the leader of Milli Moslem League has said that "ISIS is a dangerous weapon created by the US which it is using against the Islamic world."

He has also warned that if the Kashmire cause was abandoned, Pakistain would have to face increasingly difficult challenges, according to Pakistain Daily.

Saeed was designated by the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
under UNSCR 1267 in December 2008 following the November 2008 Mumbai attack in which 166 people, including six American citizens, were killed. LeT and several of its front organizations, leaders, and operatives remain under both State Department and Treasury Department sanctions.

Since 2012, the United States has offered a U.S. $10 million‎ reward for information that brings Saeed to justice.

Saeed was released on Friday morning from house arrest after a court rejected to extend his detention on Wednesday.

In reaction to his release, the White House said "Saeed’s release, after Pakistain’s failure to prosecute or charge him, sends a deeply troubling message about Pakistain’s commitment to combating international terrorism and belies Pak claims that it will not provide sanctuary for faceless myrmidons on its soil."

Enough that when I first hear of any "hate" incident my default, preliminary assumption, until I see more evidence, is that it's fake.

The number of real hate crimes has fallen so low that the Left has to manufacture fake ones to justify its continued existence.

FWIW, thanks to the #MeToo movement and the frequency of false rape accusations on college campuses, I make the same assumptions about "sexist" incidents as I do about "racist" ones.

US-backed forces arrest one of the ‘most dangerous’ European ISIS members
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Thursday that their intelligence forces locked away
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
one of the "most dangerous" European members of the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS).

According to a statement from the official SDF website, their intelligence units arrested the French terrorist Adrian Lionel Kayali (AKA "Abu Osama) on Sunday, May 19th.

The SDF claimed Kayali was arrested along with his wife after their intelligence units conducted a special operation to capture him.

Kayali was reportedly trying to escape to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
before he was apprehended by the US-backed forces this past weekend.

The ISIS terrorist was wanted by the European authorities for his connection to the 2016 Nice terrorist attack in La Belle France.
Al Ahram adds:
Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria on Thursday announced the capture of French jihadist Adrien Guihal, known as the voice that claimed 2016 attacks in La Belle France for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

"The SDF's intelligence services conducted an operation on May 19 that led to the capture of a group of IS jihadists led by Adrien Guihal, known as Abu Osama al-Faransi," the Syrian Democratic Forces said in a statement.

Guihal was thought to be among the most dangerous members of the large French contingent in the ranks of the Islamic State group, whose self-styled "caliphate" spanned huge swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria before collapsing last year.

The Kurdish forces controlling northeastern Syria have detained dozens of French IS members who have gone underground in recent months, including well-known figures such as Thomas Barnouin and Emilie Konig.

The SDF statement said Guihal was detained together with his wife, who was not identified, in the area of Raqa, IS's former Syrian "capital" which the US-backed SDF took last year.

He made headlines when he was recognised as the man behind the voice that grabbed credit for the July 2016 attack that killed 86 people in the French city of Nice.

He is a veteran member of La Belle France's jihadist networks however.

He converted to Islam while he was still in his teens and became acquainted with the brothers Fabien and Jean-Michel Clain, central figures in French jihadist circles, more than 10 years ago.

According to a profile in French daily Liberation, Guihal learnt Arabic in Cairo and became very active in online jihadist forums.

He was detained in La Belle France in 2008 on charges of planning an attack in La Belle France to protest against the French military presence in Afghanistan and was sentenced in 2012 to four years in prison.

He was released that same year.

According to Liberation, he immediately started forming another jihadist cell in the Gay Paree region and eventually managed to reach Syria in the spring of 2015.

Around 300 French jihadists, including at least 12 women, have been killed in Iraq and Syria, according to French security and other sources speaking to AFP in March this year.

Another 40 or more Frenchies are being held by held by the SDF and their fate is a controversial issue in La Belle France, whose authorities seem reluctant to bring them home for trial.

La Belle France argues that any adults among them should be tried where they are, so long as they face a "fair trial".

Rights groups and lawyers for the families of the jihadists say none of them are getting due process in the Kurdish-run part of Syria.

There is also some concern that the Kurds, who feel they have been abandoned by their erstwhile Western allies since the collapse of the IS "caliphate", might let dozens of dangerous loose if their home countries refuse to repatriate them.

Three Presumed Terrorists Killed in Ouagadougou Shootout
[All Africa] Three suspected jihadists and a gendarme were killed on Tuesday in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
's capital in a pre-dawn raid led by security forces on the suspects' house. Burkinabè officials say the Lions of Islam were linked to an attack in March against the army headquarters and the French embassy in Ouagadougou.

The night-time raid on the supects' house lasted about seven hours.

According to witnesses, the operation started around 1.30am and was carried out in several waves, with intense fexchanges of fire between the men inside and security forces alternating with lulls.

One gendarme died of his wounds and six other people, including two civilians, were maimed, while three suspected jihadists were killed and another captured.

Weapons and equipment seized

Inside the house, the security forces found six assault rifles, explosives and detonators, French and Burkinabé military uniforms, as well as mobile phones and Sim cards, according to Burkinabè Security Minister Clement Sawadogo.

He told the press that the allged jihadists had a connection to the 2 March Ougadougou attack, when the military headquarters and French embassy were targeted in a coordinated operation claimed by the so-called Group to Support Islam and Moslems, a jihadist coalition based in Mali.

"Since last March's attack, we have conducted several sweep operations based on intelligence information and tip-offs," the minister explained. "We've actually recently dismantled another terrorist cell in the same neighbourhood.

"Investigations and interrogations are still underway regarding the March attack and, thanks to the information gradually gathered, we have been able to identify these suspects, who are connected to the jihadists behind the March attack."

About 30 people enjugged
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!

The identity and nationality of the four men was not immediately known but Sawadogo said they were well equipped to carry out terrorist missions either in Burkina Faso or its neighbouring countries.

He added that police made about 30 arrests in a routine post-operation sweep.

Before the latest March attack, faceless myrmidons had already targeted a restaurant in Ougadougou in August 2017, killing 19 people, while in January 2016 30 people died in a jihadist assault against an hotel and a café.

Besides these attacks in the capital, numerous state officials, teachers and civilians have been killed, kidnapped or threatened in recent months in the northern regions of the country, near the Mali border.

Islamist rebels attack largest Christian town in Syria after failed offensive
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Salafist tough guys launched an attack on the largest Christian town in Syria this afternoon, following their failed offensive to capture al-Zalaqiyat in northern Hama.

According to a military source in Hama, the Salafist tough guys of Jaish al-Izza fired several grad missiles and artillery shells at Mhardeh, targeting the town’s large power plant and several residential neighborhoods.

The source added that several civilians were maimed as a result of this Islamist attack.

Since this attack violated the cessation of hostilities agreement, the Russian military is likely to issue a powerful response, despite the fact that the Ottoman Turkish troops are present in the area.

He was suspended for wearing a Trump t shirt, now he's suing his Oregon School District
[SacramentoBee] An Oregon high school student is suing his school, saying it violated his First Amendment rights when it suspended him for wearing a Trump T-shirt.

The student, 18-year-old Addison Barnes, told FOX 12 that he was asked to cover up a T-shirt he was wearing that said "Donald J. Trump Construction Co." on it, or leave school. The shirt also included a Trump quote: "The wall just got 10 feet taller."

According to KGW, Barnes wore the shirt to his People and Politics class at Liberty High School in Hillsboro in January, and he told the TV outlet he knew they'd be discussing immigration in class that day.

The school official who pulled Barnes out of class to ask him to cover the shirt also told him at least one student and one teacher had been offended by the shirt, The Associated Press reported.

Iraq
Iraq to prosecute people violating Ramadan fast in public
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi authorities will prosecute people violating the Moslem daytime fasting rituals.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Thursday it was "taking legal measures against people publicly breaking their fast (during day time) and refer them to the judiciary".

The Moslem holy fasting month of Ramadan began in Iraq and most Moslem countries on May 17th. The ritual involves abstaining from eating, drinking and sexual relationship from dawn till sunset throughout the month’s 29-30 days. Fasting is mandatory for adults but Islamic sharia makes exceptions for ailing persons, elders who cannot endure it and women who are either pregnant or going through their monthly period.

The ministry added it emphasized on closing alcoholics stores and restaurants during fasting times, with exceptions made for restaurants at factories, student hostels and tourist-class restaurants on highways.

The closures will cover coffee shops, and it is also "not allowed to run artistic shows or any activities that do not correspond to the sanctity of the holy month", according to the statement.

US imposes new sanctions targeting Iranian airlines, 4 Turkish companies
[ALMASDARNEWS] The United States imposed a new wave of sanctions on nine individuals and entities accused of skirting sanctions to secure equipment and parts for designated Iranian airlines, the Treasury Department said in a statement on Thursday.

"Today, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated nine individuals and entities procuring export-controlled, US-origin goods for sanctioned Iranian airlines," the statement said.

In addition, Washington also imposed sanctions on four Ottoman Turkish companies that it says are helping designated Iranian airlines acquire equipment and parts.

"The controllers designated by the Treasury today have been procuring parts and providing services for the fleets of sanctioned Iranian airlines, including Mahan Air, Caspian Air, Meraj Air, and Pouya Air," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in the statement.

Zimbabwe Govt Rebukes Minister, Dismisses as Unlawful His Remarks on Army Refusing to Endorse Opposition President
[All Africa] President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has clashed with a deputy minister captured in a video circulating on social media platforms saying the Zim-bob-we Defence Forces won’t allow MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa to rule Zim-bob-we if he defeats Zanu PF’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming poll.

According to the state-controlled Herald newspaper, acting Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Simon Khaya Moyo described Economic Development Deputy Minister Terrence Mukupe’s utterances that the army won’t even salute an opposition president as "unlawful and reckless".

Khaya Moyo said Mukupe’s remarks "flagrantly" ran against President Mnangagwa’s pledge to ensure that Zim-bob-we will this year hold free, fair and credible elections.

He is quoted by the newspaper as saying, "...such pronouncements have the negative effect of raising doubts on government’s commitment to a free, fair and non-violent plebiscite as well as to its readiness to respect and uphold the will of the people of Zim-bob-we as expressed through their electoral choices and decisions."

Khaya Moyo said Zanu PF candidate should not drag the Zim-bob-we Defence Forces into political issues as they meet the people ahead of the forthcoming crucial elections.

[KhaamaPress] At least fifteen bandidos forces of Evil were killed during the ongoing operations in Deh Yak district of southeastern Ghazni province, the 203rd Thunder Corps said Thursday.

The operations are being conducted as part of the Shaheen-1 operations which were launched in response to coordinated Taliban

attack.

According to Thunder Corps, the armed forces carried out artillery strikes and clearance operations against the bandidos forces of Evil in Deh Yak, leaving at least 15 dead and 4 others maimed.

The source further added that the security forces also confiscated a rocket launcher, 7 hand grenades, and 6 improvised bombs during the operations.

The Thunder Corps also added that the explosive ordnance disposal team also discovered and defused an improvised bomb planted on a roadside in Khwaja Omari district.

The anti-government armed bad boy groups including Taliban forces of Evil have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as festivities are underway between the security forces and Talibs in some districts of Ghazni after Taliban launched a coordinated attack on Deh Yak and some other districts earlier this week.

US must reject $1bn arms sales to Bahrain: HRW
[Al Jazeera] The United States must reject two planned arms sales totaling nearly $1bn to Bahrain in light of the Gulf country's "dismal record on human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
", a rights group said on Thursday.

The US approved a possible sale to Bahrain of 3,000 bomb bodies worth an estimated $45m last week. In April, the State Department approved a possible sale of attack helicopters worth an estimated $911m.

"These two weapons sales make clear that the Trump administration intends nothing short of a free pass on human rights for Bahrain," said Sarah Margon, Washington director at Human Rights Watch.

A close US and British ally, Sunni Moslem-ruled Bahrain has cracked down on the opposition, hailing mostly from the Shia Moslem majority, since it crushed pro-democracy demonstrations they led in 2011.

Rights groups have accused authorities of seeking to stamp out dissent.
