China Is Holding One Million Muslims in 'Re-Education Camps'
[PJ] UN Human rights officials are saying that there is evidence that China is holding one million Muslim Uighurs in "re-education" camps in the western part of the country.

Bloomberg reports that Gay McDougall, a member of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, "cited 'credible reports' that China had turned the western region into 'something resembling a massive internment camp, shrouded in secrecy.'"
Xinjiang, a Chinese region the size of Alaska, has become one of the world’s most heavily policed places. Bloomberg reported in January on government experiments with facial recognition systems that alert authorities when targeted people venture more than 300 meters (1,000 feet) beyond designated "safe areas."

Local governments have also ordered residents to install satellite-tracking systems in their cars, while people must submit to facial scans to enter markets, buy fuel or visit places such as the capital Urumqi’s main bus terminal.

China’s President Xi Jinping said the country should "strike first" against Islamist extremism after deadly attacks involving Uighurs in 2013 and 2014, as well as reports of some fighting in Syria.

Asked about the re-education camps in a regular briefing on July 27, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said: "The Chinese government fully respects people’s religious freedom, and we guarantee that in accordance with law. All ethnic groups and the people in all regions in China enjoy full freedom of religious belief."
Oh, really? I guess there's "freedom of religion" and then there's the Chinese version of it.

Hungary's populist government abolishes gender studies courses
[FOX] Hungary’s populist government is stopping universities from offering courses in gender studies, saying there is no need for graduates in the labor market and they take taxpayer money away from other programs.

The move, announced this week, comes after Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government won a comfortable majority in April after an election focused primarily on immigration. Since then his Fidesz Party has been implementing key parts of its election manifesto.

In a statement, Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said that there is "no demonstrable demand for graduates of ’social gender studies’ in the Hungarian labor market.

"There is no economic rationale for studies such as these, and so we have reason to presume that it was not created in response to labor market needs, and equally not to furnish students with skills that can be readily and directly converted on the labor market," he said. It is also questionable to what extent studies with admittedly such low student numbers are economical and sustainable."
Hungary’s HVG said that it would only affect two of the country’s universities, but also that such courses had been in the government’s crosshairs for a while.

Crime and Lack of Punishment in California
[OpsLens] Proposition 47, issued in 2014 in California, lowered criminal sentences for drug possession, theft, shoplifting, identity theft, receiving stolen property, writing bad checks, and check forgery from felony charges that can bring prison terms to misdemeanors that usually come with minimal jail sentences, if any. Since that time, the Public Policy Institute says that larcenies increased by 9 percent, and thefts from vehicles had a three-quarters increase.

Overcrowded prison systems and a seemingly racist or unfair targeting of minorities created calls for reforms, especially on nonviolent crimes like stealing and drug possession. But even the noblest of intentions have unintended consequences. The consequences from this action weren’t very hard to foresee though. In economics, when something is more expensive you get less of it and when something is cheaper you buy more of it. There is never a shopping frenzy on Black Friday because of higher prices. Human behavior is the same way; when you lower penalties for crime, you get more of it.

Moreover, these types of crimes tend to be connected and sometimes light sentences make them worse. While it is not the most effective method, drug addicts who are usually convicted for drug possession or for stealing to support their habit, often receive treatment in jail. The lack of jail time for these crimes means there is less chance of addicts receiving the help that solves the addiction, which is the root cause of their criminal behavior. Instead, the San Louis Obispo County chief probation officer reports that drug users are fueling the rise in crime, especially car thefts, to support their drug habits.

#1  My state is doing what other states seem to be doing. The warehousing of so many carries a tremendous cost. Staffing is cut to the bone. Pay overtime rather than hire new staff. Pull people in from other departments to show coverage. Now with the cutbacks in pain management what is a person to do?. Suicide and the drug of choice Heroin. Cheap and available. Maryland; my state, they hope for a new administration. Problem here is law enforcement is not supported. Costs alone are their primary concern. In Baltimore they wanted to bring in the Feds but they are controlled more than the state enforcement people. Juvenile justice is suffering here also. The prisoners are out of control because of the limits placed on officers. Living near these places gives a person a sense of disquiet.

More than 100 newspapers will publish editorials decrying Trump's anti-press rhetoric
[CNN by Brian "Tater" Stelter] THIS is why the media is hated and their papers are going the way of the dinosaur
"The dirty war on the free press must end."
"WE should be the only ones to guide the narrative!"
That's the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America.

The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a "coordinated response" to President Trump's escalating "enemy of the people" rhetoric.

"We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration's assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date," The Globe said in its pitch to fellow papers.

The effort began just a few days ago.

As of Saturday, "we have more than 100 publications signed up, and I expect that number to grow in the coming days," Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe's deputy editorial page editor, told CNN.

The American Society of News Editors, the New England Newspaper and Press Association and other groups have helped her spread the word.

"The response has been overwhelming," Pritchard said. "We have some big newspapers, but the majority are from smaller markets, all enthusiastic about standing up to Trump's assault on journalism."

Instead of printing the exact same message, each publication will write its own editorial, Pritchard said.

That was a key part of her pitch: "The impact of Trump's assault on journalism looks different in Boise than it does in Boston," she wrote. "Our words will differ. But at least we can agree that such attacks are alarming."

Journalists have noticed an uptick in Trump's attacks against the news media in recent weeks. He has been using dehumanizing language like "enemy of the people" more often. He has also been speaking to reporters less often, limiting the chances for questions to be asked.

With Trump's words and deeds as the backdrop, some media critics have urged the White House press corps to engage in acts of solidarity. There were cheers last month when reporters in the briefing room deferred to rivals who were trying to ask follow-up questions, and when numerous outlets stood up for CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins after Collins was told she could not attend a Trump event.

The coordinated editorials may be another example of unity across the news business.

Although there's a longstanding debate about the effectiveness of newspaper editorials, there is certainly strength in numbers -- the greater the number of participants, the more readers will see the message.

Pritchard said she expects differing views from the editorials, "but the same sentiment: The importance of a free and independent press."
Totes different, but expect anyone deviating from the party line to be banned

President Trump is about to sign the new National Defense Authorization Act, which will prohibit funding to Chinese-run Confucius Institutes on American campuses.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz added the key amendment to "The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019," which also restricts funding to universities that host Confucius Institutes and requires them to provide a public record of any agreements or contracts they have with the program, which has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

#2  I took 3 semesters of Mandarin under CI-sponsorship. Instructors were the most highly motivated, hardest working language instructors I ever met, and I have met about a dozen in my academic career. Mandarin instructors were rather few & far between in the USA before CI came on the scene. I am sure their supervisors kept a close eye on them - now & then the head of the institute would sit in on classes. That never happened with any other language courses I ever took. If this was indoctrination, I wasn't aware of it. There was a pipeline linking students to travel to mainland China for summer studies, and quite a few took advantage of it. I might have done the same, but I am too old to risk my health that way. A local infectious disease specialist (through the grapevine) says, "Don't go there" - and he's been to China many times on business.

Elizabeth Warren Called Out at Town Hall for Calling Justice System ‘Racist'
[Daily Caller via Western Journal] Sen. Elizabeth Warren was called out at a town hall on Thursday for labeling America’s justice system racist.

Earlier this month, the Massachusetts Democrat trashed the justice system, according to The Guardian.

"Let’s just start with the hard truth about our criminal justice system: it’s racist," she said, adding that the justice system was flawed "all the way, front to back."

"Our prison system is something that America should be ashamed of. What we do to other human beings is fundamentally wrong," she added during the question and answer session at Dillard University in New Orleans. The session was hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

That slam at the justice system did not go over well with one constituent who spoke up Thursday during a town hall in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, according to The Daily Caller.

Earth Liberation Front Fugitive Arrested In Cuba After 12 Years On The Run
[Hot Air] Joseph Mahmoud Dibee has been on the run for 12 years but now he’s facing justice after he was captured in Cuba boarding a plane for Russia and extradited to the U.S. for trial. Dibee is allegedly a member of the Earth Liberation Front which was involved in a string of arson and vandalism attacks in the late 90s. From KGW8:

It’s hardly ever mentioned now but ELF, ALF, and other eco-terrorists have carried out over 1,000 attacks causing more than $100 million in damage since the 90s. Many of those responsible have never been caught. The FBI considered the groups the number one domestic terrorist threat.

Eco-extremism is far from being a thing of the past. Last year I wrote about another eco-extremist group called Deep Green Resistance which filed a lawsuit demanding that the Colorado River be legally recognized as a person. On its website, the group envisions a campaign of sabotage which could eventually end modern civilization.

As this 60 Minutes report from 2005 demonstrates, some ELF proponents at the time were not content to limit themselves to arson and vandalism. Some were working themselves up to justifying the murder of researchers and ranchers:

Wisconsin May Cut Income Tax Rates to Offset Rise in Online Sales Tax Revenues
[Free Beacon] Income tax filers in Wisconsin may soon reap benefits from a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring that more out-of-state online retailers collect and remit sales taxes on purchases.

Remote sellers that conduct at least 200 annual transactions ‐ or annual sales topping $100,000 ‐ in Wisconsin will have to collect state sales taxes, the court ruled recently in South Dakota v. Wayfair Inc. The ruling in June overturned a previous high court decision that said such taxes need not be collected by online retailers unless they had a physical presence in the state where they were doing business.

In a report sent to members of the state legislature, the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau pointed out that current state law may require the additional sales tax revenues received as a result of the court decision be used to reduce income tax rates. Under that scenario, the average Wisconsin income tax filer would see a tax reduction of $52 annually, according to the bureau’s report.

That idea now has the endorsement of Gov. Scott Walker.

"Gov. Walker wants to return any additional revenues to the hardworking taxpayers," the governor’s spokeswoman, Amy Hasenberg, told Watchdog.org in an email.

Whether income tax rates would be reduced to compensate for the anticipated rise in sales tax revenues, however, is still under review, according to Patricia Mayers, spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. The state will not need to pass additional legislation to begin collecting the additional revenues from online retailers, Mayers said.

"Wisconsin will require collection beginning on Oct. 1, 2018, consistent with existing Wisconsin statutes, which require all sellers to collect sales or use tax unless limited by federal law," she said in an email to Watchdog.org.

Senior Pentagon Official Says U.S. Navy Will Keep Challenging China in South China Sea
[Breitbart] Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs Randall Schriver said earlier this week at a think-tank event that the United States Navy will continue to challenge China’s claims over the South China Sea, which are disputed by six other nations in the region.
He said the U.S. will continue "freedom of navigation" operations that include sailing U.S. Navy ships through the South China Sea, and raised the prospect of other countries joining in on "presence activities."

"I think what you’ll see is certainly a continuation of freedom of navigation. I think you’ll see perhaps more countries joining in presence activities ‐ which if not a 12-nautical mile challenge presence in the South China Sea ‐ is important because China claims the whole thing through the 9-dash line," Schriver told an audience at the American Enterprise Institute on Tuesday.

Freedom of navigation operations involve U.S. Navy ships sailing through the South China Sea within 12-nautical miles of territory claimed by China, to illustrate that the waters remain open to international passage.

Typically, countries consider waters within 12-nautical miles to be their territorial waters, and by sailing through it, the U.S. Navy exhibits they are not Chinese territory. The "9-dash line" refers to an area marked with nine dashes that China claims, that encompasses the entire South China Sea.

China's language and cultural centers are growing faster across Africa than we thought
[Quartz] Government-funded public institutes teaching Chinese language and culture are popping up across the globe as part of a stated push to improve the country’s cultural influence with a focus on "soft power".

Since 2004 the number of Confucius Institutes in Africa has jumped from zero to 48, according to the international consulting firm Development Reimagined.

Confucius Institutes are modeled on western cultural institutes such as France’s Institut Francais, Germany’s Goethe Institute or the UK’s British Council. Such bodies have operated in Africa since the late 19th and early 20th century . The Alliance Francais was established in 1883, the British Council was established in 1934. Despite entering 100 years late in the game, China is now also only second to France when it comes to the number cultural institutes worldwide.

Confucius Institutes are set up through partnerships between a Chinese university, a host country university and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), a language and culture promotion organization under China’s ministry of education. Hanban sends a Chinese director and language and culture instructors.

#3  The Chinese marry into the local populations so they have blood in the game. No limit on children. They prefer areas where they don't have to compete with fellow countrymen. Their bond with China is forever strong. Foods, traditional ways are all maintained as if still living in China. They are required to help family still living in China (elders). Seems like they follow the Muslim ways of conquest. Social interactions with indigenous peoples otherwise are very limited. Offspring will tell the tale as they will be conflicted.

Britain
Ten people shot in rampage at Manchester street party – gunman on the run
But, but, guns are prohibited in Ol' Blighty!
Police were alerted to the shooting at about 2.30am on Sunday morning after shots were heard on Claremont Road.

A "large number" of armed and unarmed officers raced to the street where they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. It happened after the popular Caribbean Carnival of Manchester took place on Saturday. Paramedics took the victims ‐ including two children ‐ to a nearby hospital where they are being treated for minor and critical injuries.

Police confirmed they have not been made any arrests and are still trying to catch the shooter.

The Deep State's Authorship and Publication of the Dossier
The Internet is full of information, some of it not well researched or considered, but every now and then a star appears on the horizon. To my mind the new star is Yaacov Apelbaum, who, using his considerable technical skills, has produced a masterpiece of well-documented analysis underscoring the nonsensical and partisan nature of the Mueller operation. He compares this effort by the anti-Trumpers to the plot line of the Dreyfus affair, where falsified evidence and suppressed evidence led to Captain Alfred Dreyfus’s conviction for treason.

It’s lengthy and detailed and on a lovely Sunday in summer you may not want to study it completely, but if this subject is of interest to you, I strongly suggest you bookmark the article and study it at your leisure. I cannot do it justice in any summary, but I’ll try to hit the main points.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan's Turkey Continues Its Economic Death Spiral And President Trump Just Tossed Him An Anvil
[RedState] Turkey, a member of NATO, a one-time candidate for EU membership, and a budding Islamist dictatorship, is on the verge of a full-bore meltdown of its financial market. The Turkish lira has been staggering toward crisis for several months as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan implement the much the same decisions that one would have expected if he’d used Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a financial advisor. Turkey had an unmanageable debt-to-GDP ratio, inflation was beginning to kick in, and Erdogan thinks raising interest rates to control inflation is the spawn of Satan. This is something they apparently teach instead of economics wherever it was that Erdogan and his lackeys went to school.

The proximate cause of the Ferrari-like acceleration of the current crisis into something that Erdogan may not be able to survive is pretty easy to understand. Erdogan blames a Turkish preacher, Fethullah Gulen, who lives in the US for a coup attempt against him in 2016. He has demanded extradition of this man and been rebuffed. To improve his bargaining position, Erdogan’s regime did what any Turkish whoremonger would have done, they arrested an American pastor, Andrew Brunson, and charged him with terrorism. Presumably, if we sent their pastor back, they will send ours home. At the NATO summit, Erdogan and Trump reached an agreement. Brunson would be sent home and Trump would prevail upon Israel to release a Turkish terrorist. Trump and Israel did their part. Erdogan reneged.

...Washington has generally tried to calm global markets in such moments, especially when investors are gripped by fear of contagion. Mr. Trump instead squeezed Ankara further, raising tariffs on Turkish steel imports to 50% and aluminum to 20%, which deepened the Turkish lira’s drop and worsened market fears that its banks could be shaken.

...Erdogan’s Turkey has virtually declared a cultural war on Europe both facilitating the flow of "refugees" from camps in Turkey into Europe and encouraging Turks in Europe to outbreed natives of their host countries. As late as the autumn of 2017, Erdogan and his henchmen were talking smack about how they didn’t give a f*** about a US alliance anyway

...Since the fall of the USSR and the rise of Erdogan, Turkey’s strategic position has become much less useful and its bad behavior much more of an issue. At present, having Turkey as an ally is presenting many more problems than opportunities.
And anyways, what NATO does nowadays except encouraging certain East European countries to poke sticks at the Bear?
...One has to suspect that sanctioning two Turkish thugs and increasing tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminum is only the beginning of the process. The next weeks will see massive capital flight out of Turkey as people fearing both potential sanctions and economic collapse. Nothing the Turkish government is doing is building confidence. Erdogan’s call on Friday for Turks, in a show of patriotism, to sell gold and real currency in order to buy Turkish lira was seen more as a move born of desperation than a real strategy.
Recep goes full Alexandria?
...Odds are that Turkey experiences a fiscal meltdown. Between Erdogan’s fiscal policies, a lack of confidence in the ability of his government to do squat, and the fact that the US government isn’t going to help him out, it is hard to see how this doesn’t go full-metal Argentina before it is all over.
I expect Turkey to go to war

Government
California Wildfires Caused By Radical Environmentalists, Not Climate Change
h/t Gates of Vienna
The United States Forest Service was originally founded to protect forests from the ravages of fire to preserve it for future generations. That thinking was abandoned in favor of the flawed "no-use movement," or the "rewilding" theory, which blames humans for the "degradation of our planet." "Rewilding the land can repair damage we’ve caused and reconnect us to the natural world," National Geographic claims.

For decades, traditional forest management was scientific and successful ‐ that is until ideological, preservationist zealots wormed their way into government and began the 40-year overhaul of sound federal forest management through abuse of the Endangered Species Act and the no-use movement.

Traditional forest management had simple guidelines: thin the forest when it becomes too difficult to walk through; too many trees in the woods will compete with one another, because the best trees will grow at a slower rate.

...In 2012, the Obama administration issued a major rewrite of all of the country’s forest rules and guidelines, adding so many rules, regulations and layers of bureaucracy, grounding all forest management to a halt. McClintock said that to even cut one tree down in the national forest, forest managers were forced to apply to the federal government for a study. The other big problem is these burdensome regulatory requirements greatly inflate the cost of forest management, McClintock said. "Between the studies and litigation, the process was endless," McClintock added.

When forest managers attempted to address public lands ravaged by disease, beetles or fires, they were met with a wall of bureaucracy. "Public lands take years’ worth of environmental review for studies," McClintock said. "By then, the timber has lost most of its commercial value. Essentially, the public land is abandoned. The laws make it cost prohibitive to salvage."

...We are now living with the result of radical environmentalism ideology ‐ that we should abandon our public lands to overpopulation, overgrowth, and in essence, benign neglect, McClintock said. "Forest fires, fueled by decades of pent up overgrowth are now increasing in their frequency and intensity and destruction."

He added, "excess timber WILL come out of the forest in one of only two ways. It is either carried out or it burns out."

#3  I recall talking with a fellow with the U.S. Forest Service about the 2012 about the fires in Plumas Co., Ca. 2 dead, 18 wounded in Chicago shootings: 'Even I'm scared to walk to the corner store'
[Chicago Tribune] The two cousins had planned to settle in for a night of playing video games, but first, the boys, 15 and 17, wanted to walk to the nearby gas station for something to eat.

"Probably junk food," said Genice Hines, the mother of the 15-year-old, with an eye roll and a smile.

It felt like a normal Friday night, until Hines received a call as she left work. Her son and nephew, two close friends, had been shot.

The boys were standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Independence Boulevard in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood when they heard gunfire, police said. They were about a block from the gas station at Roosevelt Road and Independence.

The 15-year-old was grazed in the head, and the 17-year-old was shot in the abdomen. They took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital where they were both in good condition.

"Chicago is a scary place to be," Hines said. "Even I’m scared to walk to the corner store."

The boys were among 20 people shot Friday and early Saturday, two of them fatally. Three other juveniles were wounded in attacks in the city, including a 12-year-old girl.

The shootings come as the department adds 600 officers to patrol the streets this weekend in the districts most affected by gun violence following the city’s most violent weekend in more than two years.

Girl drugged, raped by 'friend' at farmhouse in Karachi: police
[DAWN] A girl was drugged, raped and subjected to attempted murder at a farmhouse near the Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, said police officials on Friday.

The victim, a resident of Landhi, had reportedly been upset with her family and went to the farmhouse with her friends, SSP Malir Munir Sheikh Abbasi said.

There, the SSP said, the girl was offered a drugged cold drink, which put her to sleep. She was then raped and, when met with resistance, the alleged rapist tried to strangle her to death.

The police officer said that others who were present at the scene of the crime tried to stop the assailant, which led to a verbal spat.

Thinking that the girl had died, the assailant expeditiously departed at a goodly pace fearing arrest, said SSP Abbasi. He further said that police arrived at the farmhouse and took into custody a trio of the accused's friends who were still there, although the girl later told the police that they were innocent.

The girl was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where her medical examination confirmed her ordeal.

Sindh Inspector General Amjad Javed Salimi, following media reports of the incident, took notice and directed the SSP Malir to furnish a detailed report.

Scores Of Registered Voters Over 116 Years Old Found In Ohio’s 12th District
[DAILYWIRE] A new report alleges that there are scores of registered voters who are over 116 years old in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, where Republican Troy Balderson is currently hanging onto a narrow lead over Democrat Danny O’Connor in Tuesday's special election.

Eric Eggers, the research director at the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), reports that GAI accessed voter rolls in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District last August and found "170 registered voters listed as being over 116 years old [that] still existed on the [voter] rolls."

Eggers notes that leftist billionaire and Democratic mega-donor George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
pledged millions of dollars to fight against voter ID laws in Ohio before the 2016 elections.

While there is no indication that any fraudulent votes were cast in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District's special election, it is important to note that Balderson's narrow 1,564 vote lead highlights the importance of voter ID laws to protect the integrity of elections in the United States.

The Daily Wire reported on Wednesday that "twice as many ballots as the number of registered voters were cast in a northeastern Georgia precinct during the state's primary elections in May."

Last May, Ohio election officials referred more than 50 potential cases of voter fraud from the 2016 elections for further investigation or criminal prosecution, according to cleveland.com.

An article by The Washington Times from January 2017 reported that political experts at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia conducted a national survey that estimated of the believed 20 million non-citizen adults living in the U.S., approximately 6.4% illegally voted in 2016, which equates to more than 1.2 million illegally cast votes.

Mohaqiq slams government’s leadership after Taliban attack on Ghazni city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Second Deputy Chief Executive of the Unity Government Mohammad Mohaqiq slammed the government’s leadership after the coordinated Taliban
...Arabic for students...
attack on Ghazni city.

Moahqiq in a statement said the Talibs managed to destroy almost all government compounds and kill several security personnel in less than 24 hours after launching the attack.

He said the government arrived very late to rescue the city from the Talibs despite the historic provincial capital was under constant threat of the Taliban attack.

Mohaqiq claims that the government leadership failed to take offensive actions against the Taliban threats due to the false pride and ignoring the demands and calls of the people and instead the government leaders kept themselves busy with orchestrating vote rigging for the upcoming elections.

The deputy chief executive also criticized the government for having a political will to transfer the surrendered ISIS bully boyz but remaining reckless regarding the casualties of the Afghan armed forces.

Evidence Emerges Of Ocasio-Cortez 'Catcalling' Her Democrat Opponent
[DAILYWIRE] One day after she compared an "unsolicited request" for debate to "catcalling," a photo of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez emerged Friday that showed her going to the offices of Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in May of this year in an attempt to shame him into debating her.

The photo was posted by Ocasio-Cortez to her Twitter account where she complained that Crowley was "avoiding a debate" and wasn't "acknowledging" her:

This discovery comes a day after Ocasio-Cortez compared Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro's invitation to debate him to a man "catcalling" a woman and feeling "entitled" to a response. Shapiro offered to make a $10,000 donation to her campaign if she agreed to a debate or discussion on his "Sunday Special" ‐ or, if she preferred, to use the debate to raise money for charity.

MoI confirms ongoing sporadic clashes in Ghazni city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials confirm that sporadic festivities continue between the Afghan forces and the Talibs in southeastern Ghazni city.

MoI front man Najib Danish said the Talibs have a presence in the western parts of the city and additional forces have been deployed to clear the city from the presence of the Lion of Islams.

He ruled out that the presence of the Death Eaters in the outskirts of the city could pose serious threats to the capital provincial.

According to Danish, the security forces are busy conducting clearance operations and the city will likely be fully cleared until this evening or tonight.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
he said the operations are slowly being conducted as the Death Eaters have taken position inside the civilian houses.

There are no reports available regarding the latest casualties toll inflicted upon the security forces and the Talibs.

Provincial security Chief Farid Ahmad Mashal had earlier said the dead bodies of at least 39 Death Eaters are left in the eastern parts of the city.

Provincial public health directorate officials had also said earlier the bodies of at least 16 people including two civilians have been shifted to the hospital along with at least 30 others who have sustained injuries.

According to the officials, at least 26 security personnel are among those maimed during the festivities.

Russian military creates 8 outposts along Golan Heights border
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian military police will create eight outposts near the demilitarized zone at the Golan Heights on the Syrian-Israeli border, a deputy commander of the Russian forces in Syria in charge of of military police, Viktor Zaytsev, said.

According to the official, the first permanent observation post of the Russian military police has already been set up.

"Seven more will be created in the future. They will serve as a security guarantee for civilians of the Quneitra governorate," he said.

Another deputy commander of the Russian forces in Syria, Sergei Kuralenko, said the outposts will be created near the demilitarized zone, controlled by UN forces.

"I would like to stress that there will be no Russian military police posts in the demilitarized zone," he said.

Golan Heights
The Golan Heights had been part of Syria since 1944, but the territory was seized by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War. In 1981, the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, passed a law on the Golan Heights, which unilaterally proclaimed Israel’s illusory sovereignty over that territory. The annexation was deemed illegal under UN Security Council Resolution 497 of December 17, 1981.

Later, a part of the territory and the town of Quneitra were returned to Syria on the condition that the territory will be demilitarized and a UN mission will be deployed there.

According to earlier reports, a UN mission, accompanied by the Russian military police, has for the first time ever entered the region from the territory of Syria since the start of the Syrian conflict. Prior to that, UN forces headquartered in the capital Damascus, had to enter the area via the Lebanese border, because the Syrian part of the demilitarized zone was held by hard boys.

Pres. Trump threatens to 'get involved' in fight to obtain McCabe text messages
[FOX] President Trump on Saturday threatened to "get involved" in the fight by a conservative watchdog to obtain text messages by fired deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe related to his wife’s 2015 state senate campaign.

"Why isn’t the FBI giving Andrew McCabe text messages to Judicial Watch or appropriate governmental authorities," he tweeted.

"FBI said they won’t give up even one (I may have to get involved, DO NOT DESTROY). What are they hiding? McCabe wife took big campaign dollars from Hillary people....."

Judicial Watch has been fighting to gain access to McCabe’s messages related to his wife Jill’s 2015 Virginia state senate campaign. The Wall Street Journal first reported in October 2016 that Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s political action committee , gave nearly $467,500 to her campaign. The Virginia Democratic Party spent an addition $207,788 on the campaign.

The revelation raised concerns that the substantial donation biased the former deputy director and had an impact on the investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server. In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Jill McCabe responded to the claims, noting that her husband’s involvement in the Clinton probe came after the race was over.

"Now that I can speak on my own behalf, I want people to know that the whole story that everything is based on is just false and utterly absurd," she said.

#4  Jill McCabe responded to the claims, noting that her husband’s involvement in the Clinton probe came after the race was over.

July 10, 2015 -- The FBI opened a criminal investigation, code-named "Midyear Exam," into Hillary Clinton's handling of classified information while secretary of state.

Jill McCabe's state office run was in 2015. The DOJ IG had an ongoing investigation prior to 7/15/15. It's not like there wasn't prior interest in HRC's mishandling of classified info. In an article dated July 1, 2015 by the Washington Examiner it reported that Hillary Clinton had already lied before Congress regarding her emails. So what Dr. McCabe said about the impossibility of a quid pro quo arrangement with these McAuliffe/state Dem funds does't hold water. Also what she said does not preclude WH prior involvement in these HRC investigations.

6-year-old girl 'gang-raped' in Sukkur
[DAWN] A six-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in Sukkur's suburban area of Kandhra reportedly by two young men who kidnapped her when she was playing in the nearby fields, police said on Friday after arresting the suspects.

According to Sukkur Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Maroof Usman, the suspects took the victim into the fields where they tied her with ropes and raped her.

The accused were about to flee when they were caught by the minor girl's parents who had come to the fields while looking for her.

The girl was taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital and the two men ‐ believed to be 18-year-olds from the same family ‐ were handed over to the police by the girl's family.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered by the police against the two accused under Section 376 (ii) of the Pakistain Penal Code which states: "When rape is committed by two or more persons in furtherance of common intention of all, each of such persons shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life."

The medical report of the girl will be issued in two days time, ASP Usman said.

11-year-old boy raped allegedly by three men in Taxila
[DAWN] An 11-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by three young men in Moslem Colony area of Taxila, police said on Friday.

The three alleged suspects were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
during raids conducted at their homes, and cases were subsequently registered against them on a complaint by the victim's father, Station House Officer (SHO) Taxila Chaudhry Riaz told DawnNewsTV.

A medical examination of the six-grade student showed that he was subjected to rape, the SHO revealed.

The victim's father in his complaint to the police said that his 11-year-old son had gone to a nearby mosque to recite the Holy Koran on Thursday afternoon. As he was leaving the mosque after finishing his lesson, three young men forced him onto a cycle of violence and took him to a drawing room of one of the accused and took turns to rape him, the father alleged.

According to the father, the men allegedly threatened his son to kill him if he informed anyone about the assault, before letting him go home.

SHO Riaz said the three suspects do not have any jobs and are usually seen roaming the streets in the area. He said a medical examination would be performed on the three men and they will be presented in the court of the area magistrate tomorrow.

The victim's father while speaking to DawnNewsTV said his son appeared very frightened when he returned home but he eventually told him about the ordeal he suffered following which he had the first information report (FIR) registered.

Air strikes kill 14 civilians in northern Syria
[DAWN] Air strikes killed at least 14 civilians and maimed dozens more on Friday in a rebel-held town in northern Syria, a war monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights could not say whether the raids on Orum al-Kubra in Aleppo province were carried out by regime or allied Russian aircraft.

"A series of air strikes on the town killed 14 civilians, including three children, and left dozens of people injured," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

"The toll may rise... because people are trapped under the rubble," Abdel Rahman said.

The strikes came as heavy bombardment slammed into the neighbouring province of Idlib, held by jihadists and rebels.

At least nine non-combatants were killed on Friday in that shelling, said Abdel Rahman.

Morrocan blamed for bloody Basilan bombing
[Gulf Today] A senior Philippine cabinet official said that intelligence agents “are 80 percent sure” that a Moroccan national with links to the ISIS-inspired Abu Sayyaf terrorists was responsible for the deadly bomb explosion that killed 11 people including himself on the island province of Basilan on July 31. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana cited the testimonies of two witnesses as well as militiamen who told investigators that the driver of the van packed with improvised explosives was “foreign looking” and could not speak the local language.

Lorenzana also said that intelligence agents secured a photo of a “foreign-looking” person believed to be a Moroccan national from their sources in Basilan’s neighboring island of Sulu where the Abu Sayyaf operates, who was labelled as a “martyr” with his head encircled. But he insisted that Abu Sayyaf militants were behind the attack and were targeting about 4,000 schoolchildren who were to participate in a parade in Lamitan City on July 31.

He said, “We suspect that the guy was trying to bring his van to a plaza in Lamitan where about 4,000 schoolchildren were to participate in a parade after completing a nutrition program sponsored by the Department of Education.”

Based on intelligence reports, Lorenzana added that the Moroccan, he did not identify, tried but failed to recruit Moro youths willing to undertake “suicide-bombing missions” for the Abu Sayyaf, who gained notority for a spate of kidnap-for-ransom cases that been marred by the beheading of their foreign and Filipino hostages.

Lorenzana said the Moroccan was driving a passenger van when it developed engine trouble before reaching a checkpoint manned by soldiers and militiamen in a village in Lamitan. The driver used sign language in seeking help to move the van because he apparently did not speak the local language. Several militiamen, who responded to his call for help became suspicious when they saw “containers with wirings” inside the van and reported this to the soldiers, he said.

The Election Commission of Pakistain on Saturday distributed the reserved seats among the parties as per the quotas that their respective electoral performances commanded.

As expected, the PTI emerged as the biggest beneficiary after the distribution, thanks to the 116 seats its candidates had won themselves and the nine independents whom it had later recruited.

United Russia candidate expected to win Krasnoyarsk governors seat easily
Direct via Google Translate

Tatyana Ivashchenko , August 9, 2018 , 14:15 - REGNUM

Exactly in a month - September 9, 2018 - in the Krasnoyarsk Territory will be the election of the governor. It is known that they will be attended by three candidates: the regional head of the region Alexander Uss , the deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly Yegor Bondarenko (LDPR), the assistant to the deputy of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Lympio ("Fair Russia"). And now we can say that there is no need to expect any intrigues in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections, which will cost the regional budget hundreds of millions of rubles.

Communists "for ours"

Perhaps, some surprises during the election campaign in the Krasnoyarsk Territory did happen. One of them is the refusal of the Communists to nominate their candidate and their statement of support for the United Russia nominated Alexander Uss. And they explained their decision with patriotic motives:

"Unfortunately, in recent years people of the foreign countries who came to the helm of the largest and richest region of the country (Krasnoyarsk Territory - IA REGNUM ) were people who had little interest in the development of the region, who did little to improve the well-being of the Krasnoyarsk people: Lebed, Khloponin, Kuznetsov, Tolokonsky. That is why the position of the Communists reflects the opinion of the majority: we are for ours, for Krasnoyarsk, for the patriot of our native land. "

And, it would seem, this "sacrifice" of Krasnoyarsk Communists in the name of patriotic motives deserves respect. However, given that the Communists from other regions (Novosibirsk, Omsk Regions, Altai Territory - BakuToday) have also refused to participate in the gubernatorial elections , are there any contractual moments here? It seems that yes.

Michael Brown's mom running for Ferguson City Council
[NY Post] 15 minutes are up, hon
ST. LOUIS ‐ The Missouri governor’s office said Friday it doesn’t have the authority to appoint a special prosecutor reinvestigate the 2014 fatal police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, despite pressure from Brown’s mother to do so.

Lezley McSpadden said earlier in the day that she’d launched an online petition seeking a new investigation into her 18-year-old son’s death, a case that sparked months of protests and helped fuel the Black Lives Matter movement nationally. McSpadden also announced that she planned to run for a seat on the Ferguson City Council in April.

A spokeswoman for Republican Gov. Mike. Parson said his office "has no legal authority to appoint a special prosecutor in any case." In Missouri, judges can appoint special prosecutors, often at the request of prosecutors who seek to avoid conflicts of interest.

McSpadden has been an activist since her son’s death but has never held public office. On Friday, she said had been surrounded by people who provided her with support and motivation, and they "knew what happened was wrong and didn’t give up the fight."

"I learned to walk again," she said. "And this is one of my first steps: running for Ferguson City Council."

For years, Simone Zimmerman has protested Israel’s actions from the left. She’s led activist groups, organized protests and gone on camera. But she never worried that her activism would get her barred from entering the country ‐ until this week.

Zimmerman, who is Jewish and lives in Israel on a work visa, was returning from a vacation in the Sinai Peninsula on Aug. 5 when she found herself held up at the passport check. What was usually a routine two-minute interaction turned into an hour of answering personal questions and waiting.

Saudi Coalition unlikely to launch Hodeidah offensive again
[ALMASDARNEWS] Yemen’s government troops, which do not control a sizable part of that country’s territory, will hardly storm the biggest port city of Hodeidah held by Houthi

rebels, Russian Ambassador to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
Vladimir Dedushkin told TASS.

The diplomat noted that, although Yemeni politicians and military officials often make statements on the upcoming assault on Hodeidah, there is a huge distance between public promises and specific actions on the ground. "Sober-minded politicians, both Yemeni and foreign, do not believe in a massive assault on Hodeidah," the ambassador went on to say. "Military experts tend to believe that the Houthis can only be fully driven out the city at the cost of its complete destruction."

Dedushkin noted that by now the fighting for Hodeidah had become a trench warfare despite air support for the Arab coalition. It takes place on the city’s fringes, about 15-20 kilometers away from its borders. "The assault would inevitably lead to the destruction of the biggest and only deep-sea Red Sea port, which receives 80% of cargo, including humanitarian, for the majority of the population," he added.

According to the UN, there are about 350,000 refugees in Hodeidah, so the assault on the city would be a humanitarian disaster, the ambassador stressed.

"Turning one of the most beautiful cities of Yemen and the Red Sea into ruins similar to Stalingrad or Raqqa and djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
would be lunacy," he pointed out. "The press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian representatives to the UN Security Council have stated that on numerous occasions."

"I would like to hope that a step towards a peaceful solution on Hodeidah will be taken at the intra-Yemeni consultations brokered by UN secretary-general’s special envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths scheduled to be held in Geneva in September," Dedushkin noted.

Since January 2018: No conviction in 141 child rape cases reported in Lahore so far
[DAWN] Minor children -- both girls and boys -- are falling prey to paedophiles in the quiet provincial capital as the incidents of child sexual abuse continue to surface here and most of such criminals escape conviction because of poor investigation by police and flawed prosecution.

Such crimes are on the rise despite Chief Justice of Pakistain Justice Saqib Nisar taking suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
notice of Kasur rape cases.

The alarmingly high official figures of cases of sexual assault on minors in Lahore show that such crimes have not been a priority for the police high-ups.

Details of these show that minors are mostly targeted by paedophiles in playgrounds, streets, markets and shops in congested localities.

According to psychiatrists, the effects of sexual abuse in childhood keep haunting the victims throughout their life, adversely impacting their physical and mental health.

A majority of them, they say, suffer from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and other psychological issues. Many victims prefer to spend life in isolation, avoiding contact with relatives, friends and class fellows, the experts say. Some of the victims themselves become abusers when they grow up, they add.

According to official data, total 77 cases of rape of minor girls were reported in the quiet provincial capital from January 2018 to the first week of August this year.

Most of such cases surfaced in the Cantonment Division of the city, where 31 minor girls were subjected to rape, followed by Model Town and city divisions where 16 and 12 cases were reported, respectively.

Similarly, 11 such cases were lodged in Saddar, five in Civil Lines and two cases in Iqbal Town division, the data showed.

Out of the total 77 cases, the police quashed eight because of "lack of evidence", while the remaining were pending in courts.

The situation is also equally abysmal in the cases where the minor boys were subjected to criminal assault.

According to the police data, total 79 boys suffered sexual assault in various parts of the city during the same period. In most of the cases, the boys were kidnapped when they were playing in the street or going to local shops in residential areas.

Jihadist rebels attack Shiite towns in northern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels in northern Aleppo, Friday, carried out an attack on the two Shiite towns located north of the quiet provincial capital.

The turbans heavily shelled the towns of Nubl and al-Zahraa on Friday night, killing at least two people and wounding three others.

Both of the casualties were children that were inside their homes when the jihadist rebels in nearby Anadan began their attack on al-Zahraa and Nubl.

In retaliation, the Syrian Arab Army began heavily shelling the jihadist-held towns of Haritan, Anadan, and Hayyan in northwest Aleppo.

Tonight’s attack by the jihadist rebels marks the first time this month that they have struck the government-held towns in northern Aleppo.

Antifa to Protest ‘Alt-Right’ in D.C.: Abolish ICE, No Borders, Close Prisons
[BREITBART] Law enforcement and city officials are preparing for protesters and counter-protesters to descend on Washington, DC, this weekend.

According to the shutitdowndc.org website, the Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
side of the equation has purposes far beyond responding to the Unite the Right 2 demonstration set to take place on the Charlottesville, Va. rally anniversary on Sunday at Lafayette Park across from the White House.

The National Park Service has issued a permit to Jason Kessler for his Unite the Right 2 rally from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the park and its website has a list of instructions, including warning people not to bring weapons and to resist taunts from "provocateurs."

The permit states that as many as 400 people may show up for the event, which has a stated purpose, according to the permit, of promoting "white civil rights."

The Antifa counter-protest website, calling the event "Shut It Down DC" and "Trans and Queer #ResistDance Against White Supremacy," states a much broader purpose and is supported by a long list of left-wing organizations, including Black Lives Matter, Anarchist Agency, Fredrick Socialists, D.C. Antifascist
...anybody not a leftist...
Collective, Millenials for Revolution, Occupy Wall Street, and Philly Antifa.

The website calls for a "mass mobilization" in Washington, DC, from Friday through Sunday with the group assembling at Freedom Plaza ‐ just blocks from the Unite the Right 2 location.

The website states its broader goals, including honoring the woman who died in Charlottesville last year when she was struck by a car driven by a protester.

"This is for Heather Heyer, ICE abolition, open borders, dismantling the prison industrial complex, and ending the settler colonial system," the website states. "We will confront fascism
...a political system developed in Italy, symbolized by the Roman fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. Its distinguishing philosophical feature is the Corporate State. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
, antisemitism, Islamaphobia, white supremacy, and state violence on August 10-12."

"Now the white supremacists want to come back," a video on the website states. "On August 12, 2018, the Alt-Right will hold ’Unite the Right 2’ in Washington, DC, in front of the White House at Lafayette Square. Jason Kessler, Richard Spencer, and the Trump administration are all implicated in the murder of Heather Heyer."

"The Alt-Right relentlessly harass and threaten people of color, women, sex workers, trans and non-binary people, and the undocumented," the video states. "Their rallies are all public displays of violence and calls for genocide."

"They are Brian Trainer and every killer cop," the video states. "They are the ICE agents. They are the prison system that breaks up families."

"We will be in the streets on August 10-12, and we intend to win," the video concludes.

The website also has a list of "Other Calls to Action," including a gathering planned in Charlottesville on Saturday and Sunday where a state of emergency has been declared by Gov. Ralph Northam, and the United States National Guard is on standby.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia’s air defense system Tor-E2 can be interfaced with NATO air defense standards
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russia will soon offer its foreign customers the newest air defense system Tor-E2 which can be integrated with NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
standards-based air defenses, Russia’s arms exporter Rosoboronexport (an affiliate of Rostec) told the media on Thursday.

"The possibility of interfacing Tor-E2 with any of the existing air defense systems, including those based on NATO standards, will considerably expand its export potential. A battery of four combat vehicles will have an attached command center responsible for control and coordination of Tor combat vehicles and their interaction with the control system of the customer’s air defenses," Rosoboronexport said.

Tor-E2, developed and produced by the air and space defense corporation Almaz-Antey, has retained the best qualities possessed by the Tor family and has become a still more powerful weapon providing protection from any modern air attack means.

"It is not accidental that many foreign customers in different parts of the world have taken interest in it. Its unique combat capabilities and technical parameters are superior to those of a majority counterparts on the world market. In terms of mobility and endurance it has no equals," the company’s CEO Alexander Mikheyev said. "Rosoboronexport is prepared for considering requests for these systems from its partners."

Tor-E2 is capable of destroying planes, helicopters and cruise and anti-radar and other guided missiles. Also, it effectively eliminates the combat elements of smart weapons, such as glide and guided air bombs as well as drones. It operates amid intensive fire and radio-electronic countermeasures in any weather round the clock. Each combat vehicle is armed with 16 missiles, twice as many as the previous version of the Tor system.
It can also make toast, improve your economy, and cure psoriasis. It's Shimmer: a floor wax AND a dessert topping!

CTD claims arresting two accomplices of Mastung bomber
[DAWN] The Sindh police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday claimed to have locked away

the father and brother of Mastung bomber and on their pointation two more suspects, stated to be aides of the bomber, were also apprehended.

Separately, the CTD also arrested three suspects including two alleged ’hit-men’ reportedly belonging to Lyari
...one of the eighteen constituent towns of the city of Karachi. It is the smallest town by area in the city but also the most densely populated. Lyari has few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. It is a stronghold of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
’s London faction.

Talking to media persons, CTD SSP retired Captain Parvez Ahmed Chandio said police acted on a tip-off and arrested Muhammad Nawaz and Haq Nawaz from Banaras area, who, according to police, were planning to flee to Afghanistan.

After the deadly suicide kaboom at an election rally in Mastung, Balochistan...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, on July 13 in which over 150 people including election candidate Siraj Raisani were killed, both the suspects went in hiding.

Muhammad Nawaz is the father of bomber Hafeez Nawaz, while Haq Nawaz is his brother.

During the initial probe, Muhammad Nawaz told police that his three sons including the bomber, his wife and four daughters had moved to Afghanistan on May 29.

He told the police that initially his ’bomber’ son was associated with TTP’s Fazlullah group, but later on he joined ’Daud Mehsud group.’

On pointation of the arrested father and son of the bomber, the police conducted raids in Manghopir area and Old Subzi Mandi and arrested two suspects, Sheeraz alias Saifullah and Wali Ahmed alias Abu Ubaid.

"They are accomplices of the jacket wallah," claimed the CTD official.

They belonged to Jaishul Adl outfit based in Afghanistan.

"They got training from Panjgur in Balochistan and Afghanistan on different occasions," believed Chandio. The held suspects also studied at the same seminary where the suicide bomber studied.

Besides, CTD SSP Naveed Ahmed Khowaja said that another team of the CTD arrested Syed Muhammad Zohaib alias Zohaib Pathan who was associated with Shahid Bikak group linked with Lyari gang-war elements.

During the initial probe, the held suspects ’confessed’ to killing 19 people in the metropolis. Sindh government has announced Rs2 million head money on his arrest.

Moreover, the CTD arrested another suspect Shakir alias Bunti who was associated with MQM’s London faction.

He had killed assistant sub-inspector Gohar Abbas in 2012.

Separately, the police arrested two suspects, Abdul Waheed and Muhammad Amin who were involved in looting people who drew cash from ATMs in the city, said Khowaja.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Horizon Air worker takes plane from Sea-Tac Airport, crashes on island in south Puget Sound
[SEATTLETIMES] A Horizon Air worker took off Friday night in one of the airline’s Q400 turboprops at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and crashed on an island in south Puget Sound after being coaxed by air-traffic control to try to land and trailed by two fighter jets, officials said.
"Can you fly a plane, Rich?"
"I dunno. I never tried."

The plane was taken by a 29-year-old Sumner man about 8 p.m. and crashed on Ketron Island, near Steilacoom, about 90 minutes later, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. No passengers or crew appeared to be aboard the 76-seat plane.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the mechanic speaking. I''m going to take her up and do some loop de loops, so either fasten yer seatbelts or bail now!"
The Sheriff’s Department said it was “not a terrorist incident.” The plane crashed either while the man was doing stunts or because of a lack of flying skills, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Or both. You be de judge.
“A joyride gone terribly wrong,” Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor said during a news conference in Steilacoom, which is about 3 miles from the island.
Joy rides often do.
No injuries were reported on the ground, Pastor said, as the plane crashed and started an intense fire on the wooded, 230-acre island, which has a population of 20. He said it appeared the man who took the plane died.
Whatcha got there, Herb? Strawberry jam?
Pilot, I think.
That his lung?
I think so.
Didn't smoke, did he?
"Not tobacco, he didn't."

Horizon Air COO Constance von Muehlen said in a late-night video that “our hearts are with the family of the individual onboard as well as all our Alaska Air and Horizon Air employees.”
What's she gonna say? "Great job?"
On a live air-traffic control feed, the person flying the plane could be heard talking with an air-traffic controller who addressed him as Rich and Richard. Rich seemed excited as he spoke, though also carefree and wild.
"Whoo hoo! I got this baby in the air!"
"Now y'gotta get it back on the ground, Rich! Landing's always the hard part!"

At one point he explained he had put some gas in the plane “to go check out the Olympics… and uh, yeah.”
Stuff like this is why they used to give drug tests.
Later, he began to worry about his fuel. “I’m down to 2,100 (pounds),” he told the ATC. “I started at 30 something. … I don’t know what the burnage is like on takeoff, but it burned quite a bit faster than I expected.”
One gallon of jet fuel at 60 degrees Fahrenheit = 6.7 pounds. 3000 pounds of jet fuel = 447.75 gallons. Jet A costs about $5.71 a gallon, meaning Rich would have had $2556.72 coming out of his pay check for this little jaunt.
The air-traffic controller responded calmly, seeming not to want to upset Rich as the conversation continued and he tried to coax Rich into landing somewhere. “There is the runway just off to your right side in about a mile,” the controller told him. “That’s McChord” (meaning the military airfield at Joint Base Lewis-McChord).
"Unidentified aircraft! Stop immediately and state your business! I repeat: Stop or we'll shoot!"
“Oh man,” Rich immediately responded, “Those guys will rough me up if I try and land there. I think I might mess something up there too. I wouldn’t want to do that. They probably have anti-aircraft.”
"I'm so confused! Who're you? Where am I? Are you from Noo Joisey? I'm from Noo Joisey!"
"Captain! I think he's losing it!"
"Not on my runway, he's not! It's just been washed! You in the aircraft! This is Captain Vader! [Dum dum dum de dum!] Stop the plane and come out with yore hands up!"

“They don’t have any of that stuff,” the air-traffic controller said.
"I sense a lack of faith!" [Dum dum dum de dum!]"
"Gug gug gug gug!"

“We’re just trying to find a place for you to land safely.”
"What'd he mean when he said 'Stop the plane?'"
“I’m not quite ready to bring it down just yet,” Rich said. “But holy smokes, I got to stop looking at the fuel, because it’s going down quick.”
"If I don't look at it, it don't burn, right?"
“Could you start a left turn and we’ll take you down to the SE, please,” the air-traffic controller then asked.
"You're trying to kill me, aren't you?"
"There are rebel aircraft approaching the area!"
[Single sideband:] "Red Leader One, enemy aircraft at 3110, doing barrel rolls!"
[Single sideband:] "Blue Leader One, I'm on him!... Almost there!... Almost there?... Almost there... [KABOOM!]"
[Single sideband:] "Red Leader Two, Again?"

“This is probably jail time for life, huh?” said Rich. “I would hope it is for a guy like me.”
"Don't worry about it! It's only $2556.72 for the jet fuel. And $32.2 million for the plane..."
At another point, Rich said, “I’ve got a lot of people that care about me. It’s going to disappoint them to hear that I did this. I would like to apologize to each and every one of them. Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess. Never really knew it, until now.”
"Do you know where the parachute is on this thing?... A sign! I see a sign!"
"What's it say, Rich?"
"Area 52. Do not enter under penalty of... I can't make it out!"
"You're not low enough!"

An exchange between Rich and the controller not long before the plane crashed, perhaps the final exchange, was recorded by Aviation journalist Jon Ostrower at 8:47 p.m. and posted to his Air Current website. “I feel like one of my engines is going out or something,” Rich says.
"Why do you think that?"
"It's not moving!"

“OK, Rich,” the controller responded. “If you could, you just want to keep that plane right over the water. Keep the aircraft nice and low.”
"Not that low... Oh, the hell with it!"

Iranian ballistic missile flew over Strait of Hormuz during recent drill
[ALMASDARNEWS] When Iranian naval forces trained for an operation to potentially shut down the strategic Strait of Hormuz last week, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps quietly tested a ballistic missile over the same strait, according US spy satellites.

Fox News reported Friday that Iranian forces launched the Fateh-110 Mod 3 missile during Iran’s large-scale naval exercises to practice shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, citing information from a US surveillance satellite and three officials familiar with the matter. It appears to be Tehran’s first missile test of 2018.

The missile took off from Bandar-e-Jask, Hormozgan Province, in southeast Iran, US officials told Fox, and traveled approximately 100 miles over the Strait of Hormuz before landing in a desert on Iranian territory. The flight path was "shore-to-shore," one of the officials said.

The Pentagon acknowledged Iran’s naval exercises but declined the opportunity to comment on the missile launch.

"It’s pretty clear to us that they were trying to use that exercise to send a message to us that as we approach this period of the sanctions, they had some capabilities," US Gen. Joseph Votel, head of US Central Command, told news hounds Wednesday at the Pentagon. Iran, however, regularly conducts naval drills near the strait, and the missile test was done in what amounts to Iran’s territorial waters, a US official confirming the test said, Rooters reported.

Any disruption in the strait’s security would instantly spur chaos in energy markets and could have devastating impacts on national economies across the globe. Data from Lloyd’s List Intelligence suggest some 80 percent of crude oil flowing out of the Persian Gulf through the strait is destined for China, Japan, India, South Korea, Singapore and other Asian markets.

"The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most important oil chokepoint because its daily oil flow of about 17 million barrels per day in 2015 accounted for 30 percent of all seaborne-traded crude oil and other liquids. The volume that traveled through this vital choke point increased to 18.5 million b/d in 2016," the US Energy Information Agency reports.

The Islamabad police had jugged

four men suspected to have been involved in raping a woman in the park, two of whom were CDA/ Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) guards and the other two were guards of a private security company.

"We will not compromise on principles and there is no room for such people in the department," MCI Chief Metropolitan Officer Syed Najaf Iqbal said.

He said MCI will also write to the private security company for taking action against their guards.

The two CDA/MCI officials were working on daily wages and on a temporary basis.

According to the police, one of the gardeners of the civic agency had raped the woman while the three others had facilitated him.

After they recorded confessional statements, the four accused were sent to Adiala Jail where their identification parade will be held, the police said.

The victim is said to have been walking in the park with a male friend when the guards directed them to leave the park via separate gates. When her friend left, the guards directed the woman to use a second gate, where one of them raped her.

Russian Navy pursued Ohio class submarine in the Med
The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that one of its missile frigates located and pursued a US nuclear submarine for two hours last April, according to a Russian language news account.

The ship, the RFMSL Admiral Essen located the submarine during the escalation which saw US naval vessels, deployed to the eastern Mediterranean Sea launch missiles against targets in Syria.

The Russian MoD claimed that the Admiral Essen escorted the submarine, said to be an Ohio class ballistic missile carrier, presumably away from its area of operation.

#6  The Med has so many choke points due to geography and the shallowness of the sea that it is easy for a surface ship to lay doggo and wait for any submarine to pass by. Then the boat (if it existed) made for the nearest freighter lane and hid in the noise.

Russian forces attack west Aleppo for first time in months
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a powerful attack against the jihadist rebels in the western countryside of Aleppo on Friday.

According to a military communique, the Russian Aerospace Forces strategically bombed a weapons depot and headquarters belonging to the Ottoman Turkish-backed Jabhat Tahrir Souriya group inside the west Aleppo town of Urum Kubra.

The communique added that the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed both the jihadist weapons depot and headquarters on Friday, causing a massive kaboom that could be heard from several kilomters away.

This strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces marks the first time in several months that they have targeted the jihadist rebels in west Aleppo.

The reason for the absence of Russian jets in west Aleppo is due to the large presence of Ottoman Turkish Army soldiers near the strategic Aleppo-Damascus Highway.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
when the Russian forces receive direct coordinates of a jihadist site, they will attack their positions.

Abbasi, Sattar among former MNAs evicted from Parliament Lodges
[DAWN] Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad police on Saturday launched an operation to free Parliament Lodges from former members of the parliament who were illegally dwelling in the government-owned facility, DawnNewsTV reported.

According to the authorities' list, 119 ex-politicians were illegally occupying the lodges, of which 30 have been evicted.

CDA today managed to free up the lodges allotted to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former MQM-P convener Farooq Sattar, former federal minister Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao as well as Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai.

Malik Asad Sikandar, Bilal Virk, Raza Hayat Hiraj and Syed Ali Hasan Gilani's governmental residences have also been evicted.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
Tallal Chaudhry and Abid Sher Ali ‐ both PML-N politicians who lost their seats in last month's polls ‐ have not yet vacated the lodges that were allotted to them when they were still members of the parliament.

Protests after seven-year-old raped in Delhi
[DAWN] Scores of angry parents protested outside a government-run school in New Delhi on Friday after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an electrician on its premises, police said.

The incident comes on the heels of sex-abuse scandals at two children’s homes that have sparked widespread outrage.

The latest case came to light after the family noticed the child bleeding and lodged a police complaint on Thursday.

"A medical examination of the victim has been conducted. The results reveal a clear indication of sexual assault," Madhur Verma, a front man for Delhi Police, said.

The 37-year-old electrician was enjugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
after being identified by the victim, Verma added.

Local media reports said the suspect, who had been hired by the school just a month ago, pulled the girl into a secluded water-pump room just as she was leaving to go home.
