[Daily Caller] President Donald Trump reversed course on his previous call for the Manhattan terrorist to be transported to Guantanamo Bay, pointing out in a Thursday tweet that a trial in New York will lead to a quicker resolution.
The tweets come one day after Trump said he "would consider" sending Sayfullo Saipov, who killed eight and wounded 11 Monday, to Guantanamo Bay during a broadcasted cabinet meeting.
Trump went on to criticize the diversity visa program, which Saipov used to enter the country from Uzbekistan in 2010.
"Diversity lottery ‐ sounds nice. It’s not nice," Trump told reporters. "It’s not good. It’s not good. It hasn’t been good. We’ve been against it."
The State Department program annually grants visas to 50,000 immigrants hailing from countries with historically low U.S. immigration.

I bet his lawyer will try.
Of course he will, but what constitutes a 'fair trial' when your client is caught in the act of the crime with all those witnesses and verifiable evidence. When you are guilty as hell, a fair trial is one for people not necessarily the accused.

This is one of those cases where Trump should have kept his mouth shut. OF COURSE Trump's comments will now poison the outcome. His comments will not prevent conviction - but they will affect the sentencing phase, and basically save this guy from the death penalty. Trump just cannot restrain himself. Stupid. And - I am nominally a Trump supporter.

The media and just about every pol not named Trump has convicted the Charlottesville guy, who was trying to avoid the fate of Reginald Denny - or worse - so turnabout is fair play.
[Chicago Sun Times] Former President Barack Obama and his vice president, Joe Biden, were both in Chicago on Wednesday, giving the day a feel for me of being in a bit of a time machine.
Obama wrapped up his inaugural Obama Summit on the sunny note of hope and change that propelled him into the White House for two terms, as if President Donald Trump wasn’t every day trying to dismantle his legacy.
Biden went after Trump at his speech before the Chicago Council of Global Affairs. He warned "silence is complicity" without using Trump’s name, but the message was pretty obvious.
- President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov was the 'primary contact' for 23 immigrants
- Saipov came into the U.S. on a 'diversity visa' lottery program
- The president called for an end to 'chain migration'
Current U.S. policy prioritizes factors such as reuniting families
- He said the current U.S. justice system was a 'joke and it's a laughingstock' And this is the only portion of his statement that you will hear from the MSM.
- He also called for 'quick justice' and treating the suspect as an enemy combatant
[MediaTrackers] Green Bay Mayor James Schmitt and City Attorney Vanessa Chavez are using the city’s official Facebook page to defend themselves against allegations of wrongdoing by five aldermen but are not letting the alders use the page to issue a statement of their own, according to one of the five. The City of Green Bay’s Facebook page currently has posted on it a document titled "Misrepresentations and Misunderstandings by Council Members." It’s a response to a complaint the five alders have submitted to the Brown County District Attorney’s alleging potential criminal wrongdoing by Schmitt and Chavez in connection with the stalled Hotel Northland project.
The five claim, among other things, that Schmitt and Chavez attempted to by developer Mike Frantz out of the deal with a $500,000 loan to be taken out by the city of Green Bay and misrepresented the purpose of the loan to the Redevelopment Authority and the City Council. Schmitt has claimed repeatedly that the loan was intended to keep the project afloat. Frantz has twice told Media Trackers and the Jerry Bader radio show that Schmitt’s and Chavez’s claims are false; that the loan was indeed intended to buy him out of the project in two $250,000 installments. Court documents also indicate the loan was intended to buy out Frantz.
Frantz says emails and court documents support his claims and says Schmitt and Chavez were involved in the effort and that he was approached by the city with the proposal. Despite all of that, Schmitt and Chavez insist the accusations are nothing more than unsubstantiated claims from a quintet of obstructionist aldermen. And they have used the city’s web page and Facebook page to make that claim, without affording their accusers use of the same platforms, according to one of the five, Alderman Chris Wery.
Wery says city’s statement of defense has been taken down from its web page but remains at its Facebook page, along with a defense from Chavez: Yaaah, hey dere! Looks like Packerville is learning from Da' Bears' hometown!
Guess who has a new book?! Yup! The Ever-So-Pure Donna Brazile!:
[Politico] Before I called Bernie Sanders, I lit a candle in my living room and put on some gospel music. I wanted to center myself for what I knew would be an emotional phone call.
I had promised Bernie when I took the helm of the Democratic National Committee after the convention that I would get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton’s team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested. I’d had my suspicions from the moment I walked in the door of the DNC a month or so earlier, based on the leaked emails. But who knew if some of them might have been forged? I needed to have solid proof, and so did Bernie.
...
Officials from Hillary’s campaign had taken a look at the DNC’s books. Obama left the party $24 million in debt‐$15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign and had been paying that off very slowly. Obama’s campaign was not scheduled to pay it off until 2016. Hillary for America (the campaign) and the Hillary Victory Fund (its joint fundraising vehicle with the DNC) had taken care of 80 percent of the remaining debt in 2016, about $10 million, and had placed the party on an allowance.
If I didn’t know about this, I assumed that none of the other officers knew about it, either. That was just Debbie’s way. In my experience she didn’t come to the officers of the DNC for advice and counsel. She seemed to make decisions on her own and let us know at the last minute what she had decided, as she had done when she told us about the hacking only minutes before the Washington Post broke the news.
...
The campaign had the DNC on life support, giving it money every month to meet its basic expenses, while the campaign was using the party as a fund-raising clearing house. Under FEC law, an individual can contribute a maximum of $2,700 directly to a presidential campaign. But the limits are much higher for contributions to state parties and a party’s national committee.
Individuals who had maxed out their $2,700 contribution limit to the campaign could write an additional check for $353,400 to the Hillary Victory Fund‐that figure represented $10,000 to each of the thirty-two states’ parties who were part of the Victory Fund agreement‐$320,000‐and $33,400 to the DNC. The money would be deposited in the states first, and transferred to the DNC shortly after that. Money in the battleground states usually stayed in that state, but all the other states funneled that money directly to the DNC, which quickly transferred the money to Brooklyn.
"Wait," I said. "That victory fund was supposed to be for whoever was the nominee, and the state party races. You’re telling me that Hillary has been controlling it since before she got the nomination?"
Gary said the campaign had to do it or the party would collapse.
"That was the deal that Robby struck with Debbie," he explained, referring to campaign manager Robby Mook. "It was to sustain the DNC. We sent the party nearly $20 million from September until the convention, and more to prepare for the election."
...
Right around the time of the convention the leaked emails revealed Hillary’s campaign was grabbing money from the state parties for its own purposes, leaving the states with very little to support down-ballot races. A Politico story published on May 2, 2016, described the big fund-raising vehicle she had launched through the states the summer before, quoting a vow she had made to rebuild "the party from the ground up ... when our state parties are strong, we win. That’s what will happen."
Yet the states kept less than half of 1 percent of the $82 million they had amassed from the extravagant fund-raisers Hillary’s campaign was holding, just as Gary had described to me when he and I talked in August. When the Politico story described this arrangement as "essentially ... money laundering" for the Clinton campaign, Hillary’s people were outraged at being accused of doing something shady. Bernie’s people were angry for their own reasons, saying this was part of a calculated strategy to throw the nomination to Hillary.
...
I had to keep my promise to Bernie. I was in agony as I dialed him. Keeping this secret was against everything that I stood for, all that I valued as a woman and as a public servant.
"Hello, senator. I’ve completed my review of the DNC and I did find the cancer," I said. "But I will not kill the patient."
...
I told Bernie I had found Hillary’s Joint Fundraising Agreement. I explained that the cancer was that she had exerted this control of the party long before she became its nominee. Had I known this, I never would have accepted the interim chair position, but here we were with only weeks before the election.
...
When I hung up the call to Bernie, I started to cry, not out of guilt, but out of anger. We would go forward. We had to. It appears that The Clintons™ will be bus suspension test-beds for a while yet.

[Free Beacon] Planned Parenthood tweeted on Tuesday about how it is safer for an African American woman to have an abortion than carry a fetus to term.
The country's largest abortion provider sent the tweet, apparently with the intention of getting into the "scary" Halloween spirit. "If you're a Black woman in America, it's statistically safer to have an abortion than to carry a pregnancy to term or give birth #ScaryStats," Planned Parenthood Black Community tweeted.
Planned Parenthood's work in cities and with African American women has been criticized over the years, especially due to criticism levied against Planned Parenthood's founder Margaret Sanger. She has been called a "eugenics enthusiast" who, critics argue, saw Planned Parenthood as a way to control the population.
Some in the African American community have criticized Planned Parenthood's advocacy for abortion access in cities as being "black genocide." "Some in the African American community" would be entirely correct.
Planned Parenthood and supporters have pushed back on the characterization of Sanger. They argue she may have supported some eugenicists' ideas, but her main argument for Planned Parenthood's services was not eugenics. Instead, they say her primary drive was that people should have the children they wanted.
Nevertheless, the backlash against Planned Parenthood on Twitter was swift.

This is not news.
You should see "She who must be obeyed" and our precious little darling Rat Terrier.
A woman only wants two things from a man:
DNA
Take out the trash
After you've given her the DNA for her 2.5 kids, all she wants is for you to take out the trash. That's where dogs fill in the gap. I can tell you that women most of all do not want a dog that can talk because of all of the stuff she tells the dog when you are not around.
Remember what Heinlein said:
Women and cats are going to do as they please and men and dogs are just going to have to get used to it.
I rank below the fish, only because the hermit crabs died.
And yeah, dog gets spoiled bigly. Knew that would happen, one of my conditions of concession was dog had to be a work dog. He loves it when I sneak him off to work/play.
Paid off. Wife and kids went fishing, suddenly found themselves surrounded by cattle with Big Poppy not happy about humans in his harem. Dog got the cattle gathered and went nose to hoof long enough for the family to egress.
Yes, I got crushed in the comments years ago at Notional Review for saying "The world is divided into two groups of people: Those who like something that eats its own shit licking their face and all the rest of us."
Reminds me of a particular scene in Kentucky Fried Movie.
[Jpost] On October 5 Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Army Col. Ryan Dillon tweeted that Iraqi forces had liberated Hawija, the last Islamic State pocket in northern Iraq. After the offensive, the Iraqi Army was expected to shift far to the west, to fight ISIS in Anbar.
Instead, it paused for 10 days and then rolled into Kirkuk, stripping the Kurdistan Regional Government of one of its largest cities, conquering oil fields the Kurds had been using, and beginning a massive and unprecedented crackdown on the Kurdistan region.
The extraordinary steps Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has taken to reverse decades of Kurdish gains in autonomy seem to have the United States’ stamp of approval and have been encouraged by Iran, both of which are key allies of Baghdad.
How did this happen, and why did it happen so quickly? Up until October 5, when the Hawija offensive ended, the Kurdish Peshmerga and Iraqi forces had all been fighting the same enemy, and both of them had US special forces and advisers close to their units. Both groups were being trained by parts of the 70-nation anti-ISIS coalition. Simple, because they don't (think they) need the Kurds anymore.

This may come back to haunt the US.
There was once this guy "Nguyễn Sinh Cung" in southeast Asia who was actively aiding US and British forces in defeating the Japanese in that area. He once upon a time in 1945, accompanied and encouraged by US OSS Agents, declared:
All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights; among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
This immortal statement was made in the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776. In a broader sense, this means: All the peoples on the earth are equal from birth, all the peoples have a right to live, to be happy and free.
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen of the French Revolution made in 1791 also states: All men are born free and with equal rights, and must always remain free and have equal rights.
Those are undeniable truths.
...
In the field of politics, they have deprived our people of every democratic liberty.
They have fettered public opinion; they have practiced obscurantism against our people.
In the field of economics, they have fleeced us to the backbone, impoverished our people and devastated our land.
They have robbed us of our rice fields, our mines, our forests, and our raw materials. They have monopolized the issuing of bank notes and the export trade.
They have invented numerous unjustifiable taxes and reduced our people, especially our peasantry, to a state of extreme poverty.
After the Japanese had surrendered to the Allies, our whole people rose to regain our national sovereignty...
We are convinced that the Allied nations, which at Tehran and San Francisco have acknowledged the principles of self-determination and equality of nations, will not refuse to acknowledge the independence.
A people who have courageously opposed domination for more than eighty years, a people who have fought side by side with the Allies against the fascists during these last years, such a people must be free and independent!
For these reasons, we, the members of the Provisional Government, solemnly declare to the world that:
[This Nation] has the right to be a free and independent country—and in fact it is so already. And thus the entire ... people are determined to mobilize all their physical and mental strength, to sacrifice their lives and property in order to safeguard their independence and liberty.
Some pretty strong echoes of the US Declaration of Independence in there. His Intel and Military associates from the US trained him well.
He was of course backstabbed by the US State Dept, which drove him away from the nascent respect for Western Democracy that had been planted by the US.
I think he changed his name somewhere along the way. They ended up calling him Ho Chi Minh.
[Independent] A former British spy was paid more than £125,000 to outline Russian financial and personal links to Donald Trump’s election campaign.
Fusion GP, a Washington DC based research firm, hired former MI6 officer Christopher Steele to collect information about the US President and his advisers.
A total of $168,000 (£126,000) was paid to Orbis Business Intelligence, Mr Steele’s company, to produce the "Trump dossier", Fusion GPS said in a statement.
Jumping down a bit to..... "national security concerns."
According to his court papers, Mr Steele decided to hand the dossier over "on a confidential basis in hard copy form" to the British intelligence services because it "had implications for the national security of the US and the UK", as well as being "of considerable importance in relation to alleged Russian interference in the US presidential election".
#1
But, but, but I thought Mr. Steele was "retired" from MI6? Did they too have a dog in the fight, or was this a 'back door' (cover for action) and plausible entry point for U.S. Intelligence agencies ?
Steele was familiar to the FBI, in part because the bureau had previously hired him to help a U.S. inquiry into alleged corruption in the world soccer organization FIFA. The FBI sometimes pays informants, sources and outside investigators to assist in its work. Steele was known for the quality of his past work and for the knowledge he had developed over nearly 20 years working on Russia-related issues for British intelligence. The Washington Post was not able to determine how much the FBI intended to pay Steele had their relationship remained intact.
Emphasis added
The FBI discovered Steele was connected to the DNC and did not wish to inhibit those ongoing efforts, knowing full well they'd soon receive info-copies ?
BLUF:
[Townhall] So, we have another admission that Democrats funded this effort, there is a paper trail, and there is a money trail to point to the possibility that the Democrats may have colluded with Russia to try and sink Trump with this dossier, which by the way no other outlet, save for Buzzfeed, published because there was no way to verify the contents. This whole affair involved a former British spy using foreign sources to collect information to try and sink the candidacy of Donald Trump subsidized by the Democrats. This isn’t stateside, nor was it from public sources.
The point is if the GOP actually did this, the Red Scare would erupt in the media. It’s par for the course concerning double standards, but there is more to suggest Hillary colluded with the Russians than Trump, which is ironic in the extreme. With Trump, it’s been months and there is still no solid evidence of collusion. With Clinton, there are records.

Alright so someone now please establish the link btwn the Dossier and FISA warrants, the electronic monitoring of the Donald Trump Campaign and the efforts of Robert Mueller.
Fruit of the Poisonous Tree The principle that prohibits the use of secondary evidence in trial that was culled directly from primary evidence derived from an illegal Search and Seizure.
The "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine is an offspring of the Exclusionary Rule. The exclusionary rule mandates that evidence obtained from an illegal arrest, unreasonable search, or coercive interrogation must be excluded from trial. Under the fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine, evidence is also excluded from trial if it was gained through evidence uncovered in an illegal arrest, unreasonable search, or coercive interrogation. Like the exclusionary rule, the fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine was established primarily to deter law enforcement from violating rights against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Hillary Clinton Defends Her Campaign Funding The Trump Dossier [VIDEO]
Clearly somebody did know. With all this sunshine illuminating previously dark corners, I have begun to wonder what the party that arises to replace the Democrats will be called.
[Free Beacon] The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is deciding whether to let Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo (Fla.) join, which has become a controversy within a caucus that is composed entirely of Democrats.
The House Administration Committee is expected to tell the caucus by Thursday's weekly meeting if they are required to let him join, CHC Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (D., N.M.) told Politico.
Last week, the CHC delayed dealing with the matter after many members of the caucus accused Curbelo of wanting to join as a political ploy for his reelection.
Curbelo's district is 70 percent Latino and is a prime pickup opportunity for Democrats. It has more Democrats than Republicans, and Hillary Clinton won it in the 2016 presidential election.
[Breitbart] Sen. Chuck Schumer’s long record of enthusiastic support for his diversity visa program is making it difficult for him to escape partial blame for the October 31 truck attack by a diversity-visa recipient who killed eight cyclists in Manhattan.
On May 24, 2006, for example, Schumer gave a floor speech in the Senate celebrating the diversity visa program:
This is an excellent program. Nobody has said it has done a bad job. It is small. There are only about 50,000 visas a year. It is really based on the idea of new seed ... So I plead with my colleagues, keep the diversity visa program ...
As I ride my bike around New York City on the weekends, I see what immigrants do for America. This program has dramatically helped. Neighborhoods such as Woodlawn and Greenpoint have been revitalized by new Irish and Polish immigrants. Neighborhoods such as East Flatbush and Harlem have been revitalized by West African immigrants. We don't have to stop this program.
Schumer ally Jeff Flake tweeted a defense of Schumer and his Diversity visa one day after a Muslim lottery winner aledgedly killed eight cyclists in New York.
I saw this on the local late night news; the usual suspects (read - idiots and liberals) were on as 'supporting diversity' and otherwise missing the point.
[DailyCaller] Unidentified individuals or groups posted stickers saying "it’s okay to be white" around Cambridge, Mass. Wednesday morning.
Police were sent to investigate the matter, and officials asked the Department of Public Works to remove the stickers. The stickers were posted "on light poles and electrical boxes around Cambridge Common and Harvard Square" in the heart of Cambridge, close to Harvard University, The Boston Globe reported.
One Cambridge public works employee told The Globe he had scraped off about 20 of the stickers, and the police said they "received a tip from a resident about ’a number of stickers’ in the Common."

[AlAhram] Egyptian security forces freed on Tuesday a police officer who was kidnapped during the deadly shootout earlier this month between coppers and turbans in Egypt’s Western Desert, Egypt's armed forces announced in a statement.
Police officer Mohammed El-Hayes was rescued in an operation by security forces near El-Wahat highway where a number of bad boyz were potted.
El-Hayes has been taken to a military hospital for treatment, the statement read.
The officer had gone missing during the 19 October incident, which killed 16 coppers as they executed a raid on a terrorist hideout in Bahariya Oasis about 135 kilometers (83 miles) southwest of Giza.
The Egyptian interior ministry has not yet released a statement on the rescue.
El-Hayes' brother, Atef, told al-Ahram Arabic news website that the family spoke to El-Hayes on the phone, and that he seemed in high spirits.
[AlAhram] Egypt's Armed Forces announced on Wednesday that the joint military-police operation targeting terrorist hideouts in the Western Desert continued for the second day in a row, the Egyptian army said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Egyptian air forces - supported by special army commandoes units (Sae'ka) and police - carried out airstrikes in southern Fayoum, killing all terrorist targets.
Security forces are currently combing the area for any terrorists who may have escaped.
The Armed Forces released a video of the airstrike, as well as photos showing the dead bodies of the terrorists and destroyed vehicles including a pickup truck fitted with machine guns.
The operation comes after the shootout on 19 October in the Western Desert between security forces and terrorists, where 16 policemen were killed and 13 were injured.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A massive new trove of documents from the the late Osama bin Laden ... who is no longer with us, and won't be again... files has been released to the public, BuzzFeed reported.
The files released more than six years after they were recovered in the US raid that killed the notorious al-Qaeda leader provide new insight into the man and into the workings of al-Qaeda.
They files also contain the first publicly available images of bin Laden’s son, Hamza, as a young man.
A report from the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point military college called the younger bin Laden, "Al-Qaeda’s leader in waiting."
The new files ‐ which contain the majority of those recovered during the raid ‐ number in the hundreds of thousands and include audio, video and text.
They have not yet been translated from Arabic according to BuzzFeed.
Research by Washington-based Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a think tank that was instrumental in pushing the US government to release the files, the documents include a video from Hamza bin Laden’s wedding, which the FDD believes took place in Iran, where Hamza spent years in a form of house arrest, it said.
Pages from bin Laden’s personal diary were made available as well as new information about al-Qaeda’s relationship with Iran, further insight into bin Laden’s relationship with al-Qaeda’s global networks and a deeper understanding of bin Laden’s leadership style.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Six long-range strategic bombers took off from their bases in Russia to hit Lion of Islam targets in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zor on Wednesday, Russian news agencies cited the Russian Defence Ministry as saying.
The Tu-22M3 planes flew over Iran and Iraq to hit the targets which included "terrorist" strongholds and depots with weapons and ammunition, TASS news agency reported.
The Russian Defense Ministry released footage on Wednesday of the Tu-22MZ bombers taking off and dropping bombs on ISIS group positions outside the Lion of Islam-held town of Boukamal (Abu Kamal) on the border with Iraq.
Syrian government forces are battling the murderous Moslems outside the town.
Russia has been providing air cover for the Syrian government’s operations against ISIS and rebels since 2015 but it has mostly used an airfield in Syria.
The Russian military said the Arclight airstrikes destroyed the Lion of Islams’ command posts and ammunition depots.

A bit more expensive, but likely safer parking. And good practice in case something big jumps off further down the road.
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Nine Iraqis were killed by the explosion of a bombs left over in their homes in western Mosul, an Iraqi news channel reported on Wednesday.
Al-Rafidain quoted a source at Nineveh police service saying that six refugees the same family were killed when a bomb left over by Islamic State militants went off at their home in al-Thawra neighborhood in western Mosul. They had just returned from refugee camps, according to the source.
Another lady and two of her children were also killed in a similar incident in Tammuz district, again upon their return from a refugee camp.
Explosives planted by Islamic State militants during their occupation of several Iraqi cities have occasionally killed civilians and security personnel as Iraqi forces began to retake those regions.
Iraqi troops, backed by a U.S.-led coalition, took over Mosul from Islamic State militants early July, ending more than eight months of operations. IS members have frequently been accused of booby-trapping civilians’ houses to hinder assaulting troops, and of using civilians as human shields.
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Mortar missiles have been shot against Iraqi federal troops in northwestern Nineveh regions, a military source said on Wednesday.
“The shelling first came from Peshmerga troops deployed in the vicinity of Rabia and Zummar, located northwest of Nineveh,” the source told Alghad Press.
“No casualties have been recorded among the Iraqi troops yet,” the source said, adding that troops did not respond to the sources, from which mortars came.
Earlier on the day, Peshmerga’s Zeravani troops gave orders earlier on the day to rally at the northern borders of Erbil.
Joint Operations Command had said that Kurdistan Region Government and its delegation stepped back from the draft agreement made with Baghdad. It added that Kurdish troops were building new defenses, while talks were ongoing.

[IsraelTimes] Michael Oreskes has resigned as chief of NPR’s newsroom following accusations of sexual harassment that dated back to the 1990s.
In a statement, Oreskes writes that he is deeply sorry to the people he hurt. “My behavior was wrong and inexcusable, and I accept full responsibility,” he says.
He says he told Jarl Mohn, president and CEO of NPR, on Wednesday morning that he would step down. Earlier, Oreskes had been placed on leave and Mohn appointed Chris Turpin as the temporary news chief.
Two women had accused Oreskes of suddenly kissing them when they were discussing job prospects with him in the 1990s, when he was Washington bureau chief of The New York Times.
On top of NBC’s Mark Halperin, Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi, and The New Republic’s Hamilton Fish and Leon Wieseltier, Oreskes is now the fifth member of the elite media in a month to be accused of sexual misconduct. Dropping like flies, so to speak. Whatever happened to: "Can I buy you a drink after work?"?

[DAWN] A day after politicians slammed US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... 's new South Asia policy,
...because that will assuredly change his mind...
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif assured the Senate that their concerns had been heard and Pakistain's foreign policy would be devised keeping their guidelines in mind.
Beginning his speech with an acknowledgement of Trump's assertion that "things have started getting better" in US-Pakistain relations, and thanking the American president for the endorsement, Asif reiterated that Pakistain wishes for a regional solution to the Afghan problem.
"The entire region has a role to play in the Afghan process, and Pakistain wishes for a regional solution to the security challenges faced by the country," he asserted.
"We will use the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) platform to Pakistain's benefit, and we have been very active there," he assured.
Agreeing to a politician's assertion that Pakistain put its own interests first, he assured the senators that any foreign policy will prioritise Pakistain's needs of the hour.
Rubbishing PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar's assertion that he had "unwittingly" criticised American generals for their failures in Afghanistan, Asif stated unequivocally that he firmly believes in the statement he made: that the new US policy is ineffective because it was influenced by generals who have been frustrated in the Afghan war.

[PRESSTV] A joint anti-extremist force linking countries in the Sahel began operations on Wednesday, the French military mission in the region, which is providing support, told AFP.
"The deployment of Malian, Nigerien and Burkinabe troops in the G5 Sahel force began this morning," said a colonel for La Belle France's Barkhane mission, speaking on condition that only his first name of Marc-Antoine was used.
Several hundred troops have been deployed in the initial operation, codenamed Hawbi, he said.
It will "provide a show of strength and demonstrate presence" in the Mali, Burkina and Niger border regions "and impede freedom of movement, which several gangs have enjoyed for months," Marc-Antoine said.
"The ultimate goal is to boost the power of the G5 Sahel force so that it can relocate by itself in cross-border zones," said Marc-Antoine.
The world's newest joint international force, the five-nation G5 Sahel plans to number up to 5,000 military, police and civilian troops by March 2018.
The 5,000 will comprise two battalions each from Mali and Niger and one each from Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. The force has been placed under the leadership of a Malian general, Didier Dacko, although for the time being the national contingents will not be integrated.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Iraqi army announced that Kurdistan region ignored security agreements that have been approved previously, giving the region a "final deadline" to implement the security pact.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Joint Operations Command in Iraq, the army confirmed that Kurdistan’s forces are structuring their defenses and moving forces throughout the negotiation period, adding that "this is a policy of stalling and treason to target our troops."
The Iraqi army stressed that the actions on Erbil’s side are unacceptable, contrary to set agreements and that they will secure the border areas with Kurdistan if Erbil doesn’t commit.
The Joint Operations Command praised the "high responsibility and wisdom" manifested by the Iraqi Prime Minister Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider Abadi, sending a high-level military technical delegation to hold a series of meetings with the security delegation of Erbil and give a deadline for several days to prevent bloodshed and to ensure the protection of citizens.
However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... according to the statement of the Iraqi army, Kurdistan leadership and its delegation rejected the draft agreed upon in negotiations by the federal envoy with Erbil.
The statement highlighted that it is clear that Erbil negotiators wasted time and pulled out at the last minute forcing negotiations back to square one.
"What they have (Erbil) submitted is absolutely unacceptable," the statement added.
The statement stressed that "the federal forces are required to secure areas and borders, protect the civilians and have strict instructions not to clash and prevent bloodshed, but if gangs associated with Erbil fired missiles or bombed at federal forces, killed members and intimidated the citizens, they will be pursued by the forces of the federal law and will not be safe."

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Libya's coastguard has rescued nearly 300 migrants colonists including dozens of women and kiddies from unseaworthy boats as they tried to reach Europe, a navy official said Wednesday.
The 299 migrants colonists, who included 40 women and 19 children, were picked up early Tuesday in Mediterranean waters off the western city of Zliten, navy front man General Ayub Kacem said.
The migrants colonists, of different African nationalities, were plucked from two rubber dinghies without engines and brought back to the Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... naval base, he said.
They were given food and medical attention before being transferred to a detention centre, Kacem added.
Since the 2011 uprising that toppled longtime dictator Moamer Qadaffy, chaos-hit Libya has become a key point of departure for migrants colonists heading to Europe.
Last month forces loyal to Libya's UN-backed unity government ousted a militia controlling the trafficking from the western city of Sabratha.
The United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... last month said Libyan authorities were holding more than 14,500 migrants colonists who had previously been kept captive by smugglers in farms, houses and warehouses in and around the coastal city.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... i emir has surprised me by what he said this week in interview with CBS. But, when it comes from Qatar then it is shouldn’t actually come as a surprise. Sheikh Tamim is trying to show the world that the boycotting countries do not want to begin dialogue because they only want a regime change. He tried to appear as if he is ready to have dialogue and make concessions. But what has Qatar done in the last five months to show this?
He continued giving hints about illusory sovereignty, claiming that the four countries seek to violate Qatari illusory sovereignty. As for their relations with the "honorable" Iran, the prince explained that this rapprochement is due to closed border with Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... and the boycott imposed on Qatar.
This is not really strange as two days earlier, we heard of former Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassem’s admiration of Israel. When he wanted to compare Arab countries with other countries, he did not choose Britannia, Finland, Singapore or South Korea, but he went directly to the Israeli model to show how he is impressed with it, saying that it is country that has no oil, but it has goals.
The appropriate response to all these Qatari official statements might be what Bahraini King Hamad ...King of Bahrain (since 14 February 2002), having previously been its emir (from 6 March 1999). He is a Sunni, while the rest of Bahrain is predominantly Shiite... bin Issa said yesterday, stressing that it is time to take firmer action against those ask the support of the other countries against neighboring countries. The king added that Qatar proved that it does not respect the agreements upon which the GCC was established. This has led to the king rethinking Bahrain’s participation in the upcoming GCC summit; he said: "Bahrain cannot attend any summit or meeting, attended by Qatar unless it reforms its approach, returns to its correct path and responds to the demands of the boycotting countries."
So all has became clear again, Doha has to stop this nonsense, media games and trivial campaigns. The statements from the Qatari officials are not showing responsibility and are not addressing the crisis. They are just maneuverings that have made Qatar fail to get out of the crisis in its early phases. Everyone should see the reality of this crisis and know that the four boycotting countries have approached Qatar for years to hash out differences, but Qatar instead insisted on escaping the many issues.

Hama (Syria News) Social media channels belonging to the Syrian regime published a video showing an air strike carried out by the Syrian Air Force on the headquarters of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), in the countryside of Hama.
The video footage showed the air strike that was conducted on the headquarters of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (Previously Jabhat al-Nusra), in the countryside of Hama, destroying a number of military vehicles belonging to the militia.
The air strike was carried out using drones, leaving several casualties among Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants.
It is noteworthy that the eastern countryside of Hama is witnessing violent battles between HTS and the Syrian army troops that attempt to recapture the area.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Israel’s air force bombed a weapons depot in Syria’s Homs province on Wednesday, adding to a series of strikes in recent weeks, according to a monitoring group.
The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was still unclear whether the depot belonged to the Syrian government or its Lebanese ally Hezbollah.
"Israeli planes fired rockets at an arms depot in the industrial zone of Hisyah, south of the city of Homs, the observatory’s director, Rami Abdel Rahman, told AFP.
Syrian television reported "an aggression" by Israel in the region, adding that the national army had "responded".
The Israeli army refused to comment on the report.
Israel has acknowledged carrying out Arclight airstrikes in Syria since the outbreak of the bloody war in the country six years ago to stop arms deliveries to Hezbollah forces.
The Syria observatory said Israel had also struck an arms depot near the Damascus airport on September 22, and this month targeted a jihadist faction linked to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. Israel said last month it had attacked Syrian government artillery after fire from across the armistice line hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, and warned it would step up such retaliation in the future.
The factory that was attacked was allegedly affiliated with Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah, according to Russian broadcasting channel RT Arabic, formerly known as Rusiya Al-Yaum.
The Lebanese-based, Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen television network additionally stated that there were "unconfirmed reports that Israel attacked a facility in an industrial area in the suburbs of Homs, and that the Syrian anti-aircraft systems responded" to the Israeli attack.
Al Mayadeen also noted that the Syrian army responded by firing a surface-to-air missile from the base of the Syrian army's 72nd Brigade.
The strike took place as Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Tehran and met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei earlier in the day, in an effort to strengthen the Russia-Iran-Syria alliance.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Uzbek immigrant suspected of killing eight people in New York City by plowing a truck into cyclists and pedestrians on a bike path was charged in federal court on Wednesday with acting on behalf of the hard boy group ISIS.
The suspect, Saifullah Saipov, 29, who was hospitalized after a police officer shot and jugged Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! him, ending Tuesday’s rampage, confessed to authorities while in jug that he began planning the attack a year ago, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.
The 10-page complaint said Saipov waived his rights to remain silent and avoid self-incrimination in agreeing to speak to Sherlocks without an attorney present from his Bellvue Hospital Center bed in Manhattan.
In the course of that interview, the complaint said, Saipov told Sherlocks he was inspired by ISIS videos he had watched on his cellphone, chose Halloween for the attack because he believed more people would be on the streets, and had originally planned to strike the Brooklyn Bridge as well as the bike path.
The complaint also said Saipov had requested permission to display ISIS’ flag in his hospital room and said he felt good about what he had done.
Meanwhile, ...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia... the Federal Bureau of Investigation posted an online wanted poster of a second Uzbekistan-born man, named Mukhammadzoir Kadirov, 32, who was described as being sought for questioning in connection with the attack along the Hudson River in lower Manhattan.
Saipov was charged with one count of providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization, designated in the complaint as ISIS, and one count of violence and destruction of motor vehicles.
[NBCNewYork] FBI interviewing acquaintance, wife of NYC terror suspect.
Law enforcement officials said that the man is known to have been in contact with Sayfullo Saipov, the man charged in Tuesday's attack. It's not clear if Kadirov knew about Saipov's plans, but they said there is nothing that indicates he may have been involved in the attack.
Federal agents are also interviewing Saipov's wife, but they said the woman has been cooperating with the investigation.

Saipov came into the U.S. on a 'diversity visa' lottery program
The president called for an end to 'chain migration'
Current U.S. policy prioritizes factors such as reuniting families
He said the current U.S. justice system was a 'joke and it's a laughingstock'
He also called for 'quick justice' and treating the suspect as an enemy combatant
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Carlos Batista, 23, of Paterson, NJ told DailyMail.com he recognized Sayfullo Saipov as his neighbor and recalled him driving around in a Home Depot truck with two male friends

[ConservativeDailyPress] A Muslim leader who calls himself "reformed" and the "Imam of peace" took to social media last night to blast liberal New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. Imam Tawhidi
Imam Tawhidi's website can be seen here. He followed his father into the profession of Shiite imaming after having trained in his father's imam school in Qom, then returned to Australia to do Allah's work. That work apparently involves a great deal of talking at home and around the world, not to mention on television, the internet, and Twitter -- he openly rejects Muslim terrorism, at least of the ISIS sort, and likes to upbraid his fellow imams, most of whom are Sunni, when they do not join him. How he feels about Iran-sponsored terrorism is less clear.
(Imam’s are religious leaders in the Muslim religion) stated that he warned the mayor that New York was becoming a dangerous place well before yesterday’s terror attack in the city. Tawhidi calls out de Blasio, clearly stating, "He did nothing."
His tirade against Mayor de Blasio and liberals, in general, began with three tweets shortly after the attack by Sayfullo Saipov. [Series of Tweets]
They did not end there, however. The Muslim man went on to include many in his condemnation. He appears to believe that liberals who deny the existence of terrorism by Muslims are putting the entire world in danger. [Another Tweet]
He called out Hillary Clinton for her silence on the New York attack, reminding the public of earlier comments she has made. [HRC Vid and Another Tweet]
It is clear that Tawhidi is upset and many understand why. Terror attacks continue to happen while liberals are still denying that jihadists even exist. The Imam points out that everyone who shuts down conversation about the topic is only contributing to the problem. [Another Tweet]
As Conservative Daily Post reported just yesterday, universities are going to great lengths in order censor free speech. From Diversity Peer Educators, Inclusive Language Campaign, and safe spaces, institutions have become more about protecting feelings than learning.
Although it appears that Mayor de Blasio has finally admitted to this attack being terror, as Imam Tawhidi notes, it is too little too late. If the mayor had someone who was willing to discuss this possibility a year ago, why did he not jump at the chance? Likely for the same reason that many of the terrorists who attack in Europe were "on the radar." Liberals have made it common practice to be blind to anything that does not fit their agenda. Muslim terrorists are one of those subjects and in this case, the blood of 8 people may rest in de Blasio’s hands.
[Ynet] The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... (PIJ) suffered a major blow Monday, when a tunnel carrying its operatives‐including senior commanders‐exploded by the IDF, killing nine Death Eaters with five Jihad terrorists still considered missing, possibly within Israeli territory.
The IDF considers the incident to still be ongoing, with the Gazoo Division remaining on high alert in fear of PIJ retaliatory measures following the tunnel's detonation, with the army saying it was merely 200 ‐ 300 meters from one of its outposts in the Kissufim sector. A shaft exiting into Israeli territory was not yet excavated, the army added.
The tunnel detonated Monday was considered unique due to the organization that excavated it‐the Islamic Jihad‐which thus far concentrated on developing advanced rocket capabilities, occasionally better than Hamas's. The PIJ has some 10,000 fighters in the strip and has equipped itself with hundreds of medium-range rockets, reaching up to 40 kilometers, and several dozen relatively new short-range rockets, only capable of reaching the area surrounding Gazoo but carrying a payload of hundreds of kilograms of explosives. The latter rockets are equivalent to Hezbollah's Burqan rockets in their destructive potential.
The organization coordinates with Hamas but is considered independent, and its stance on the reconciliation agreement has yet to become known.
Due to heightened tensions, work on the underground anti-tunnel barrier wall was partially halted in light of daily status evaluations and the danger snipers pose to the project's employees and the forces acting as their security.
The IDF also has not ruled out the possibility Iran, the organization's chief financier, will consider the new situation an opportunity to hamstring the newly-found reconciliation, brokered by Egypt, and urge PIJ to retaliate in order to create escalation within the entire strip.
"The Islamic Jihad's headquarters are in Syria, where decisions are made in coordination with Iran," the Israeli officer explained.
New discoveries regarding the detonated tunnel
New details regarding the IDF campaign against terror tunnels in the Gazoo Strip came to light Wednesday, as it was discovered the Gazoo Division has been operating a group of experts‐dubbed "the brain" by the senior officer‐for about a year, tasked with locating and destroying tunnels.
The lab, which is overseen by an officer affiliated with the division, has engineers, geologists, engineering officers and intelligence personnel all working in tandem to interpret data received by the technological systems deployed in the field, including the sensor array that picked up the tunnel this week.
The tunnel exploded as part of an operation that mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers, and the tunnel's detonation was precise thanks to the experts' efforts. The operational also entailed preliminary deployment in the sector, strengthening defenses near the border and isolating the space around the tunnel.
The laboratory was designed to operate not merely against tunnels penetrating into Israeli territory, but to also translate its innovative capabilities for the forces maneuvering around the strip during the next conflagration.
The information gleaned by "the brain" will assist soldiers in handling Hamas's many upgraded offensive tunnels, through which the organization attained one of its greatest achievement during Operation Protective Edge: kidnapping the bodies of Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin.
Islamic Jihad excavators worked on the tunnel for about a year, and five of them were performing digs while it exploded, which may mean the organization was unaware its tunnel was discovered and signaled for demolition by the IDF.

She'll never run for office again, and they both have lost access to people with power and influence. No doubt donations to the foundation and invitations to either of them to speak for fabulous fees have fallen off dramatically, with the bottom not yet in sight. Even if she never is tried for anything she's done, let alone convicted, she is enjoying the process of being harshly judged in the court of opinion.

[AnNahar] Bosnia has extradited to the United States a Kosovo jihadist whom Washington suspects of links to jihadist groups, four months after his arrest in Sarajevo, prosecutors said Tuesday.

No more details were available due to "sensitivity of the case," it added.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The recently released CIA bin Laden files provide new details concerning al Qaeda’s relationship with Iran.
One never-before-seen 19-page document contains a senior holy warrior’s assessment of the group’s relationship with Iran, the Foundation for Defense of Democracy’s Long War Journal reported.
The author explains that Iran offered some "Saudi brothers" in al Qaeda "everything they needed," including "money, arms" and "training in Hezbollah camps in Leb, in exchange for striking American interests in Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... and the Gulf."
Iranian intelligence facilitated the travel of some operatives with visas, while sheltering others.
Abu Hafs al-Mauritani, an influential ideologue prior to 9/11, helped negotiate a safe haven for his jihadi comrades inside Iran. But the author of the file, who is clearly well-connected, indicates that al Qaeda’s men violated the terms of the agreement and Iran eventually cracked down on the Sunni jihadists’ network, detaining some personnel.
Still, the author explains that al-Qaeda is not at war with Iran and some of their "interests intersect," especially when it comes to being an "enemy of America."
Bin Laden’s files show the two sides have had heated disagreements. There has been hostility between the two. al-Qaeda even penned a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei demanding the release of family members held in Iranian custody.
Other files show that al-Qaeda kidnapped an Iranian diplomat to exchange for its men and women. Bin Laden himself considered plans to counter Iran’s influence throughout the Middle East, which he viewed as pernicious.
However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... bin Laden urged caution when it came to threatening Iran. In a previously released letter, bin Laden described Iran as al-Qaeda’s "main artery for funds, personnel, and communication." And despite their differences, Iran continued to provide crucial support for al-Qaeda’s operations.
In a series of designations and other official statements issued since July 2011, the US Treasury and State Departments have repeatedly targeted al-Qaeda’s "core facilitation pipeline" inside Iran.
Sources familiar with the intelligence used to justify those designations say they are based, in part, on the Abbottabad ... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden.... files. It is likely that still more revelations concerning al-Qaeda’s relationship with Iran remain to be found in the cache made available today the FDD stated.

No!!! How can it be?
p.s. When will CIA find/reveal the evidence that ISIS is another Iranian puppet?
The United States has been illegally training, arming, and funding Iranian-controlled militant forces in Iraq, according to a delegation of lawmakers who accused the Trump administration on Wednesday of violating a law barring such activity.
Information provided to lawmakers and viewed by the Free Beacon appears to show Iranian-controlled militants in Iraq using American-provided weaponry, including M1 Abrams tanks, which would require specific training from U.S. forces.
[DAILYCALLER] A jarring political advertisement has left Ed Gillespie’s family "infuriated" and brought a rapid infusion of cash to his campaign.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller Tuesday, Gillespie said his wife and children were "disgusted" by the ad, which showed a white man driving a Ford F-250 ‐ complete with a Gillespie bumper sticker and "Don’t Tread On Me" license plates ‐ directly at a group of fleeing minority children.
"They are infuriated," the Virginia gubernatorial candidate said of his family’s reaction to the ad, which was produced by Latino Victory Fund. "And they’re disgusted. And I understand that. I think it’s always harder on the family than on the candidate himself or herself, but it’s not pleasant, and it’s the kind of thing that makes good people not want to run for public office."
"But it’s not going to dissuade me, because this race is not about me. This race is about the future of the commonwealth I love and my fellow Virginians."
Gillespie also said the shocking nature of the ad ‐ which brazenly connected the Republican to white supremacist marchers in Charlottesville, Virginia ‐ has led to a sudden cash infusion for the final week of the campaign.
"Yeah, in fact, actually online, our fundraising has tripled from people who are just disgusted by this and feel that they’re under attack, which they are," Gillespie told TheDC. "But, again, it’s not just my supporters who are under attack here. It’s all those good, decent Virginians who may not agree with me, but understand that this is not good for the commonwealth of Virginia and that this kind of political attack and these smear campaigns are not good for the country and they’re not good for the commonwealth."

Make this a black man with a big afro and BLM stickers on the truck, running down white middle class looking children, and there would be an uproar. Why are these racists Latinos given a free pass by the media?

The ad is basically a childs nightmare. A child who's head is filled with nonsense by his liberal parents to believe fellow American's are crazy psychos and anti-government overreach must mean pure hatred for everything not white.

Make this a bearded man with a big beard and ISIS stickers on the truck, running down white middle class looking children while yelling something that sounds like "Alan Arkin", and there would be... no known motive.
[NYPOST] Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager for President Trump, owns several US passports, used a phone and email account registered under a fake name and provided varying estimates of his wealth, federal investigators said in court documents to show he is a flight risk.
Manafort and his longtime business associate Rick Gates surrendered Monday after they were hit with a 12-count indictment that includes charges of conspiracy against the United States, tax fraud and money laundering stemming from their work for a Ukrainian politician who had close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The court filings from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team of investigators probing Moscow meddling in the 2016 election reveal that Manafort, 68, had three passports and had submitted applications for 10 more over the last few years.

Still wondering what all this has to do with Trump and 'Russian collusion'.

Funny how with the left you barely ever hear the details in the charges, but you hear the "disproving" info in the news. Quite the opposite with someone in the hate-scope of the left.
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians taken in for questioning over Reuven Schmerling's killing; security forces find illegal weapons in overnight sweeps, including a pistol in a plush toy
Security forces operating in the West Bank overnight Tuesday tossed in the slammer Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! suspected accomplices in the deadly stabbing earlier this month of an Israeli man in the Arab Israeli town of Kafr Qassem, the military said.
A joint IDF and Border Police operation nabbed the suspects in the town of Qabatiya, home to the two Paleostinian men indicted for the slaying of Reuven Schmerling, the IDF said in a statement Wednesday morning. The army did not say how many suspects it detained in connection with the murder.
On Sunday, Youssef Khaled Mustafa Kamil, 20, and Muhammad Ziad Abu al-Rub, 19, were indicted for premeditated murder and entering Israel illegally in a Central District court for the killing.
Schmerling’s body was discovered by police on October 4 near his coal storage unit in Kafr Qassem’s industrial zone. He had been stabbed dozens of times.
It was initially unclear if the murder was a terror attack, but in the days that followed the Shin Bet announced that it was believed to have been nationalistically motivated. According to the indictment, the suspects told interrogators they had carried out the murder to "avenge" their friend, who had been killed while attempting to carry out a stabbing attack in 2015.
In all, security forces arrested 17 suspects in the West Bank overnight, the IDF statement said. Thirteen are suspected of involvement in "popular terrorism," a catchall term used by the military to denote rock and Molotov cocktail attacks and violent rioting.
In the al-Am’ari refugee camp, soldiers arrested three suspected Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", operatives and confiscated NIS 50,000 ($14,200) it said was intended to fund terrorism in the West Bank.
During a search for illegal weapons in the villages of Umm Salamuna, south of Jerusalem, and Shuweika, in the northern West Bank, an improvised weapon was found, as well as a small pistol hidden inside a plush dog.
Security forces also escorted some 1,000 Jewish worshipers to the Joseph’s Tomb in the city of Nablus for prayers, the statement said.
On an almost monthly basis, the army escorts Jewish, and occasionally Christian, worshipers to the shrine. Israelis are forbidden from visiting the site without the military’s permission. In the past, Nablus residents have attacked the groups visiting the site with rocks, Molotov cocktails and rifle fire.
In October 2015, Paleostinian rioters set fire to the holy site. It was restored and reopened a few weeks later.
[TheSun] President Donald Trump sent a nuclear-capable B-2 stealth bomber from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on a long-range mission to the Pacific this weekend.
And the Russian Defence Ministry today announced that US and Japanese jets escorted Russia’s missile-carrying Tupolev-95MS strategic bombers during flights over the Sea of Japan and the Pacific.
A spokesman said: "Two strategic bombers Tupolev-95MS of Russia’s Aerospace Force have carried out routine flights over international waters of the Sea of Japan and the western part of the Pacific Ocean.
"At certain sections of the route the Tupolev-95MS crews were accompanied by a pair of F-18 fighters (of the US Air Force), and a pair of F-15, F-4 and F-2A fighters (of the Japanese Air Force)."
Mattis made his remarks as he accused the North’s leader Kim Jong-un of "illegal and unnecessary missile and nuclear programmes".
Speaking in Seoul alongside South Korean defence minister Song Young-moo, he warned: "North Korea has accelerated the threat that it poses to its neighbours and the world."
Because of this, he said, military collaboration between the US and South Korea had taken on "a new urgency".
Mattis added: "Any use of nuclear weapons by the North will be met with a massive military response."
The news came shortly before reports emerged of a tunnel collapse at an underground nuclear test site, prompting fears of a radioactive leak.
The North says it needs nuclear weapons to counter US efforts to strangle its economy and overthrow the Kim government.
Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg called North Korea a "global threat" today and said he backed tighter sanctions against it during a visit to Japan, which has been targeted by Pyongyang’s provocations.
Stoltenberg is in Tokyo to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and other senior officials including defence minister Itsunori Onodera later in the day.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon resigned on Wednesday following a highly-publicized allegation of sexual harassment, the defense ministry said according to AFP.
Fallon had previously apologized for putting his hand on a political journalist’s knee in 2002.
Rooters reported that Fallon said his past conduct had fallen below the high standard required in his position on Wednesday in a resignation letter to Prime Minister Theresa May.
"A number of allegations have surfaced about MPs (Members of Parliament) in recent days, including some about my previous conduct. Many of these have been false but I accept that in the past I have fallen below the high standard we require of the Armed Forces that I have the honor to represent," Fallon said in the letter published by May’s office.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A hardline Islamist stabbed two Tunisian coppers on Wednesday in front of parliament, gravely wounding one of them, the interior ministry said.
"A Salafist attacked two coppers with a knife. One was struck on the forehead, and the other stabbed in the neck and is in intensive care," ministry front man Yasser Mesbah said.
Outside one of the entrances to parliament, bloodstains were visible at the site of the attack, which was cordoned off by police.
The ministry in a statement said that the assailant was tossed in the slammer ... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not... and confessed to having adopted three years ago an hard boy line of thought that views members of the security forces as "tyrants".
"Killing them, he believes, is a form of jihad," it said.
An official at the cop shoppe where the man was taken after being detained said the attacker was in his 20s and appeared "very aware of what he did".
"He spoke calmly and showed no remorse," the official said, asking to remain anonymous.
"He told us: 'This morning, I prayed and I decided to do something for jihad. I saw the policeman in front of me. To me, he's a 'tyrant'. And I did what I did,'" the official quoted the detained assailant as allegedly saying.
Walid Hkima, a front man for the national security forces, told state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
the attack happened at around 8am (0700 GMT) and the assailant was quickly arrested.
Since its 2011 revolution, which sparked the Arab Spring, Tunisia has faced a series of jihadist attacks that have claimed the lives of more than 100 soldiers and police.
In 2015, the North African country was the target of several attacks claimed by the ISIS group that killed 72 people -- 59 of them foreign tourists.
The country has been under a state of emergency since November 2015, after one of those attacks killed 12 presidential guards in the heart of the capital.
In June 2015, 38 foreign tourists, including 30 from Britannia, bit the dust in an ISIS attack on a coastal holiday resort south of Tunis.
In March the same year, another ISIS attack at the National Bardo Museum in Tunis killed 21 foreign tourists and a policeman.
The Bardo museum is located in the same complex as the parliament.
A Tunisian police officer who was stabbed by a suspected Islamist died of his wounds on Thursday, a national security spokesman said.
The suspect, named as Zied Gharbi, was arrested on Wednesday after two policemen were wounded with a knife near the parliament. He shouted "Allahu Akbar" - God is greatest - as he stabbed the policeman in the neck, witness and officials said.
"Our colleague Riadh Barrouta died Thursday after the terrorist attack in Bardo yesterday," Walid Hkima, a national security spokesman, said.
The attacker was 25 and from Ettadamen, one of the largest, poorest suburbs of Tunis.
The Interior Ministry said Wednesday's attacker had confessed that "he had adopted Takfiri thought three years ago and believes that killing security forces is a form of jihad".
Zied Gharbi has no ties with Islamist groups, but he had been influenced by hard-line ideology on the Internet, officials said.

It seemed pretty obvious to me that on the Fitzgerald the OOD was going to be at fault. The other ship was approaching from the starboard (right) side, so she had the right of way. Also, the OOD did not call the captain to the bridge. Yes, it was the middle of the night, but when I stood deck watches, it was standard procedure to call the captain at any time there was a serious impeding problem.

A Libyan armed group will not extradite the brother of the Manchester suicide bomber who killed 22 people in an attack on a pop concert in Manchester in May to Britain, its spokesman said on Thursday.
On Wednesday British police said they had issued an arrest warrant for Hashem Abedi and prosecutors asked Libya to extradite him.
"We will not extradite Hashem Abedi to UK authorities," said Ahmad Ben Salim, spokesman of the Deterrence Force, a counter-terrorism group allied to the U.N.-backed government in Tripoli, which is holding him.
He said there was no legal agreement between Britain and his group for this case to allow an extradition.

As many as 29 civilians have been killed and several others injured as Saudi warplanes dropped bombs on Yemen’s extreme northwest.
One of the strikes hit a marketplace in Sahaar District of the province of Saada in the early hours of Wednesday, killing 27 people and injuring nine others, the al-Masirah television network reported.
The death toll is expected to rise as a search operation is still underway at the site of the attack.
A vehicle was also targeted by Saudi fighter jets in the province’s al-Dhaher District, killing two more civilians.
Over the weekend, 10 Yemeni civilians lost their lives in Saada and the province of Taiz during similar air raids
[PRESSTV] Protests in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... , have left at least 28 killed as people have reportedly become discontented with a government decision to take over control of an Islamic school.
Eh? Since when have the youth of Eritrea been permitted to have opinions other than those printed on the signs the government representative handed to them?
Reports on Wednesday said some 100 people had also been injured in the protest, which began earlier Monday and escalated on Tuesday.
Nasredin Ali, a front man for the Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization, a group based in neighboring Æthiopia, said festivities began after people resisted to hand over to government forces control of a Moslem community school in Asmara.
"Following the refusal to hand over the school, some 40 people were tossed in the clink Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! and this led to the massive protests," he said, adding that a tense atmosphere continued to dominate Asmara on Wednesday as people gathered to hold a funeral ceremony for those slain in the festivities. Ali even said that the Eritrean army was deploying troops to the city.
Authorities denied there were fatalities with Information Minister Yemane Meskel saying police had managed to disperse without any casualty the "small demonstration by one school in Asmara."

Imagine how many a well done protests will cost.
At least 15 people were killed, including women and children, in airstrikes on the eastern Libyan city of Derna late on Monday night, said a medical source.
The National Libyan Army has been besieging the city for months and has carried out intermittent airstrikes against it.
Military officials refused to comment on the latest strikes.
A resident of the city said that the shelling last about an hour and that they targeted the al-Dhahr al-Hamr neighborhood in southern Derna and the mountainous al-Fatayeh region, 20 kms away from the city.
The medical source said that at least 17 people were wounding in the strikes, adding that so far all victims were civilians.
The coastal city of Derna lies 265 kms away from the Egyptian border in the west. It is currently under the control of an alliance of extremists and former members of the “Shura Council of the Derna Mujahideen”.
The ISIS terrorist group captured ISIS in late 2014, but the Council managed to expel it in the following year.

Syaputra reportedly attempted to evade authorities by swimming across Lake Lanao to a town adjacent to Marawi.

John Guyguyon, chief of police in Lanao del Sur, where Marawi is located, said Syaputra told Sherlocks he is from northern Sumatra in Indonesia, and he came to the Philippines as early as November 2016 to take part in the planned Marawi siege.
Police seized from the suspect a .45 calibre handgun, some Indonesian passports, different currencies and jewellery.
During the interrogation, Syaputra also reportedly claimed to have played a role in the 2016 attacks in Jakarta's central business district, which left seven people dead, including attackers.
Syaputra was reportedly among the dozens of imported muscle from neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as from Arab countries, who came to Marawi to join the fight. The number of fighters, however, remains unclear.
In recent weeks, police also killed the suspected "financier" of the siege, Mahmud Ahmad, a doctor and a Malaysian national.

[PRESSTV] The Palestinian resistance Movement Hamas has ceded control of the Gaza crossings to the Palestinian Authority. Ceding the crossings to the Palestinian Authority came under a preliminary reconciliation deal between rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, last month in a bid to end the decade-long Palestinian rift.
Ministers from the Abbas-backed government of national consensus have begun gradually to assume their duties in Gaza in past weeks and on Tuesday took over the revenue accounts of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, officials said.
Hamas had used those revenues—taxes and fees collected from merchants and passengers—as part of its Gaza budget, to pay salaries of the 40,000 to 50,000 employees it has hired since 2007. Those wages will now be paid by the PA, under the Cairo agreement.
The Palestinian Authority will begin operating the Erez and Kerem Shalom crossings immediately, officials said, while in Rafah the operation will await further security arrangements such as deploying a force from Abbas's presidential guards and Cairo completing innovations on its side of the facility.
