[Nat Review] The principal function of a federal grand jury is to investigate a suspected crime with an eye toward returning an indictment -- a formal accusation of felony misconduct. In the alternative, a grand jury may file a "no true bill," a formal finding that the prosecutor failed to show probable cause that the subject of the investigation committed a crime.
Sometimes, however, to vote yea or nay on a proposed indictment is not the grand jury’s only option. In certain situations, federal law authorizes a grand jury to file a report detailing its findings, even if criminal charges are not forthcoming. One such situation involves investigations of public officials. Instead of returning an indictment, a grand jury may issue a report that recommends an official’s removal from office.
These columns have lamented the Justice Department’s assignment of a prosecutor to investigate the president without specifying a crime or the factual basis for a criminal investigation.
We’ve also observed that no indictable crime is required to trigger impeachment proceedings. Neither, we now note, is a provable crime a prerequisite for the issuance of a grand-jury report. Thus, the question arises: Is Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s impaneling of a new grand jury in Washington step one in the impeachment of President Donald Trump?
#1
Mueller's grand jury soviet style investigation and prosecution is designed to personally destroy as many of President Trump's associates as possible with grand jury testimony, intimidation, and leaks. This will isolate the President and neutralize him politically, destroying the presidency.
This is a coup de'etat on the installment plan, and is treason. Watch the cast of players on the Mueller (Obama)team and you will identify the players. This is big leage $h!t.

Yes, the swamp creatures are fighting ferociously. Trump is the first president to challenge them in decades, possibly ever. Their very existence is at stake.
If nothing else, President Trump has revealed the meaninglessness of separate political parties as well as these evil, corrupt, parasitic beltway bastids for what they actually are.
#3
But think of the positive aspects Besoeker - Americans learn to focus on the real problem (the swamp), instead of concentrating on the meaningless sock puppets like Obama.

If I were Trump, I'd seriously consider pardoning everyone Mueller investigates. Like, immediately the second Mueller looks in their direction. Basically make his witch hunt as pointless in real life as it is legally.
Trump would catch hell for it, but that will happen anyway.

Are smartphones destroying our kids? That’s the premise of an extensive article in September’s The Atlantic
The author, Jean Twenge, has been researching generational differences for 25 years, starting when she was a 22-year-old doctoral student in psychology. In this article she describes how the use of smartphones is so prevalent among the teen population, the generation she calls iGens, and how profound of an effect smartphones are having on social behavior, friendships, sex and more.
Her premise, based on extensive research findings, is that this generation is more comfortable online than out partying, and while physically safer, they're on the brink of a mental health crisis.
She found that the iGens hang out much less with their friends most days, with the frequency dropping by more than 40 percent from 2000 to 2015. Teens are dating less, with just 56 percent of high school seniors going out on dates in 2015, down from 85 percent for the previous generations. And they have more leisure time but waste it, spending more time in their room alone, on their phones, often distressed.

Achievements: After weeks and months of fixating on tweets and Russia, someone in the press decided to have a look at what the Trump administration has been up to since January. Lo and behold, they discovered that it's getting a lot done.
"Trump Has Quietly Accomplished More Than It Appears" reads the headline in the Atlantic.
"With the Trump administration's chaos sucking up all the attention," the article begins, "it's been able to move forward on a range of its priorities.... It is remaking the justice system, rewriting environmental rules, overhauling public-lands administration, and greenlighting major infrastructure projects. It is appointing figures who will guarantee the triumph of its ideological vision for decades to come." A muleta is a stick with a red cloth hanging from it that is used in the final third (tercio de muleta or de muerte) of a bullfight.
The muleta obscures the sword, and as in his earlier work with the cape, the bullfighter uses it to attract the bull in a series of passes, demonstrating his control over it.
[Breitbart] Friday, ESPN "First Take" co-host Stephen A. Smith said NFL owners reluctant to sign the controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick because of the backlash that would come along with him are "soulless businessmen."
"The NFL owners who are reluctant to bring Colin Kaepernick on board are not cowards -- they’re soulless businessmen," argued Smith. "They’re scared of their bottom line being affected because they’re all about their dollars." Smith dog bites feeding hand.
You just noticed? Never had a problem with multi-millionaires getting taxpayers to fund their entrainment centers stadiums? It's not like they're hospitals, fire or police stations, schools, ect. That's right, you are parasite that rides the back of those soulless businessmen.

...Mr Smith does not seem to realize that the team owners - however liberal they may be in their personal politics - are remarkably hard-nosed businesspeople. They are NOT going to kill the goose, but they also have to take public opinion into account...which is why they let that nice Mr Kaepernick fella do what he wanted, and not incidentally have a lousy season or two in the process.
The fact is that Colin has let his politics run away with him (not a good idea but perfectly legal) and let his skills go in the process (a very bad idea). He has no one to blame for his current state of unemployment but himself.
Mike
PS - there's a school of thought among the media that after a few QBs go down with injuries, Kaepernick will suddenly be a hot commodity. I hope no one is betting their house payments on that.

Probably hard for Mr. Stephen A. Smith, but did he look at the viewership of NFL games, the attendance at the games where Colin Kaepernick played (or showed up)?
Does Mr. Stephen A. Smith even know the viewership and attendant revenue numbers for ESPN?

[Right Scoop] A new email dump from the FBI via a FOIA request by the ACLJ reveals what appears to be collusion between the media and the DOJ to squash the story about the 2016 meeting between Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton on the tarmac in Phoenix, AZ.
Also Comey reportedly said the FBI had no documents related to this meeting to fill a prior FOIA request. That apparently isn’t true, given this new email dump.

Much was redacted about the tarmac meeting between Lynch and WJC. [Town Hall] For the first time ever, the NAACP is warning others not to travel to an entire state. Missouri is not safe for minorities, leaders concluded this week.
NAACP leaders cited stalled discrimination lawsuits and racial disparity in traffic incidents in the states as major contributors to their decision. Missouri NAACP President Rod Chapel referenced a few particular incidents that he says proves the state is unfairly targeting minority drivers and students.
Chapel is referring to Senate Bill 43, legislation Greitens signed several weeks ago that mandates former employees must prove discrimination was the main reason for their firing and not just a contributing factor.
State Representative Brandon Ellington pushed back against the NAACP's narrative and advisory.
"People should be concerned that we have a national organization that is painting Missouri as a racist state," he responded.

[NYT] A propaganda video intended to show Turkmenistan’s president as a strong leader who knows his weapons instead became the butt of a global joke.
When the repressive regime exalted its president this week with footage portraying him as a military man of action, an exiled opposition publication created a new video by splicing in clips of Arnold Schwarzenegger suiting up in the 1985 action movie "Commando."
The publication’s parody video struck a nerve online, drawing widespread attention to the president, a former dentist named Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov (pronounced gur-BAHN-goo-lee bair-dee-mukh-ha-MAY-doff).
The official video showed Mr. Berdymukhammedov firing a rifle, throwing knives and calling in an airstrike. "The head of the government demonstrated his precise aim, itself a testament to his high level of military training," the government explained in a statement.
It said he also "demonstrated his mastery of target shooting using a pistol."
[American Thinker] As the tectonic plates shift in the global auto industry, jobs are being added under President Trump. He was elected promising to reverse the deindustrialization of America, and the announcement today from Toyota and Mazda [i] that they are jointly building a $1.6-billion assembly plant at an American site to be determined shows that he is delivering.
Jonathan Soble writes from Tokyo for the New York Times:
Toyota said on Friday that it was taking a 5 percent stake in Mazda, another Japanese automaker, adding that the companies would jointly build a new assembly plant in the United States and pool resources on new technologies. The factory's location has not been decided, but Toyota and Mazda said they hoped the first vehicles would roll off its production lines in 2021. The plant is expected to cost $1.6 billion and will employ about 4,000 workers, they said.

[Breibart] Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper admitted on CNN that he has unmasked Americans during his time under the Obama administration, and defended doing so.
"So I did unmaskings during my six-and-a-half years at DNI, Susan did as well, and it was not done for political purposes whatsoever," he said.
He also said National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster was "right" to approve Rice for a top secret security clearance in April, despite President Trump criticizing her for unmasking his campaign associates.
"Good on General McMaster, he’s a great soldier and he’s done exactly the right thing here," Clapper said. A Jim Clapper endorsement? I'll bet McMaster is cringing.
Clapper pointed out that "there’s no criminal activity connected with unmasking." Clapper did not address, however, how classified intelligence with unmasked Trump associates made its way to the press, which is illegal.
A conversation former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak was illegally leaked to the Washington Post in February.
Sally Yates, the former deputy attorney general under the Obama administration, admitted in May that Flynn was indeed unmasked, and said she discussed documents in which Flynn was unmasked with other members of the intelligence community.
Clapper further defended unmasking Americans swept up in foreign surveillance, even those their identities are shielded for moral, legal and privacy reasons.
"And I should explain that the nexus, the start of unmasking is a valid foreign intelligence target, and when that valid intelligence target is observed engaging with a U.S.person, it is perfectly appropriate, and in fact, I would argue irresponsible not to understand the significance and the context, and the only way you can do that is to know who it is," he said. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 ("FISA" Pub.L. 95–511, 92 Stat. 1783, 50 U.S.C. ch. 36) is a United States federal law which prescribes procedures for the physical and electronic surveillance and collection of "foreign intelligence information" between "foreign powers" and "agents of foreign powers" suspected of espionage or terrorism).[1] The Act created the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) to oversee requests for surveillance warrants by federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies. It has been repeatedly amended since the September 11 attacks.
Generally, the statute permits electronic surveillance in two different scenarios.
Electronic surveillance
Without a court order[edit]
The President may authorize, through the Attorney General, electronic surveillance without a court order for the period of one year, provided that it is only to acquire foreign intelligence information,[5] that it is solely directed at communications or property controlled exclusively by foreign powers,[6] that there is no substantial likelihood that it will acquire the contents of any communication to which a United States person is a party, and that it be conducted only in accordance with defined minimization procedures.[7]
The code defines "foreign intelligence information" to mean information necessary to protect the United States against actual or potential grave attack, sabotage or international terrorism.[5]
"Foreign powers" means a foreign government, any faction of a foreign nation not substantially composed of U.S. persons, and any entity directed or controlled by a foreign government.[8] The definition also includes groups engaged in international terrorism and foreign political organizations.[9] The sections of FISA authorizing electronic surveillance and physical searches without a court order specifically exclude their application to groups engaged in international terrorism.[10]
A "U.S. person" includes citizens, lawfully admitted permanent resident aliens, and corporations incorporated in the United States.
"Minimization procedures" limit the collection of information concerning United States persons by protecting their identities and requiring a court order to retain the communications for longer than 72 hours. The communications can be retained without court order if there is evidence of a crime. Identification of a US person, known as "unmasking", may also be authorized if an agency believes it is necessary in order to understand the intelligence or believes that the person was committing a crime.[11]
The Attorney General is required to make a certification of these conditions under seal to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court,[12] and report on their compliance to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.[13]
Since 50 U.S.C. § 1802(a)(1)(A) of this Act specifically limits warrantless surveillance to foreign powers as defined by 50 U.S.C. §1801(a) (1),(2), (3) and omits the definitions contained in 50 U.S.C. §1801(a) (4),(5),(6) the act does not authorize the use of warrantless surveillance on: groups engaged in international terrorism or activities in preparation thereof; foreign-based political organizations, not substantially composed of United States persons; or entities that are directed and controlled by a foreign government or governments.[14] Under the FISA act, anyone who engages in electronic surveillance except as authorized by statute is subject to both criminal penalties[15] and civil liabilities.[16]
Under 50 U.S.C. § 1811, the President may also authorize warrantless surveillance at the beginning of a war. Specifically, he may authorize such surveillance "for a period not to exceed fifteen calendar days following a declaration of war by the Congress".[17]
With a court order[edit]
Alternatively, the government may seek a court order permitting the surveillance using the FISA court.[18] Approval of a FISA application requires the court find probable cause that the target of the surveillance be a "foreign power" or an "agent of a foreign power", and that the places at which surveillance is requested is used or will be used by that foreign power or its agent.[2][19] In addition, the court must find that the proposed surveillance meet certain "minimization requirements" for information pertaining to U.S. persons.[20] Depending on the type of surveillance, approved orders or extensions of orders may be active for 90 days, 120 days, or a year.[21]

The High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) based the report, released on Friday, on interviews in June of 96 refugees who fled Congo's Kasai provinces into neighbouring Angola.
At least 17 cases were of mutilations and other injuries, nine victims of abductions, four victims of rape and one victim of arbitrary arrest.
The OHCHR also received reports of incidents of widespread looting and destruction or burning of property and parts of villages.
Based on accounts from people who fled between March and June, the report counted 251 killings, attributing 150 of them to the Bana Mura and another 79 to the Kamwina Nsapu.

"The Bana Mura militia were responsible for 171 victims [150 killed], the Kamuina Nsapu militia for 86 victims [79 killed] and FARDC soldiers for 25 victims [22 killed]," the report said.

[Al Jazeera] Rwandan President Paul Kagame looked set for a landslide victory as election results trickling in showed the incumbent with an average 98 percent of the vote in districts counted.
The electoral commission released 40 percent of results late on Friday, in which Kagame led his two little-known opponents with a whopping 99.38 percent.
The 59-year-old is expected to easily win a third seven-year term at the helm of the east African nation which he has ruled with an iron fist since the end of the 1994 genocide.
Voting closed at 13:00 GMT on Friday, but many Rwandans who had queued up before the deadline were also allowed to cast their ballots, Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb, reporting from Kigali, said.
Kagame has wielded wide-ranging powers since the end of the genocide and became president in 2000.
About seven million people were registered to vote in the polls to pick a president who will lead the country for the next seven years.
According to the Rwanda Electoral Commission, more than 80 percent of registered voters cast their ballots.

[NEWSINFO.INQUIRER.NET] President Duterte visited Marawi for the second time on Friday to boost the morale of troops who have been battling pro-Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. During the visit, Mr. Duterte lashed out at former president Benigno Aquino III once more as he talked about the illegal drug problem, which he believes to be one of the root causes of the Marawi conflict.
He earlier called Aquino a fool for questioning the effectiveness of the administration’s anti-drug campaign.
"That hurt," the President said, referring to Aquino’s comment.
"Many of my soldiers died, and my police were maimed... That’s insulting," he said.
He said he was "sensitive" about this issue because of the many members of the state forces who have died.
"So if you’re careless in saying nothing happened, I would really lose my cool," he said.
Mr. Duterte addressed the troops and posed for pictures with them, photos from Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go showed. He also visited the maimed.
Mr. Duterte first visit to Marawi since the fighting broke out took place late last month, and he had then thanked the troops for their heroism.
Government casualties in the fighting have risen to 119. Mr. Duterte has promised to provide for their families. Members of the private sector have also donated funds to help their kin.

[Daily Caller] Republican Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a bill Friday establishing August 4 as "Barack Obama Day."
The 44th president received the honor from his home state on his 56th birthday. The bill passed through both chambers of the state legislature without any dissenting votes.
"August 4th of each year is designated as Barack Obama Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor the 44th President of the United States of America who began his career serving the People of Illinois in both the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate, and dedicated his life to protecting the rights of Americans and building bridges across communities," the bill states.
Legislators tried to pass "Obama Day" back in March but the legislation failed by just six votes in the House. That particular bill would have made the day a legal holiday and cost Illinois taxpayers around $20 million in lost productivity, the Illinois Policy Institute reports,

In a statement through the Department of Justice (DOJ), Sessions said sanctuary cities would not be allowed to participate in the Public Safety Partnership program until they prove that they have properly dropped their status and made efforts to reduce violent crimes by illegal aliens.
"By protecting criminals from immigration enforcement, cities and states with so-called ’sanctuary’ policies make all of us less safe," Sessions said in the statement. "We saw that just last week, when an illegal alien who had been deported twenty times and was wanted by immigration authorities allegedly sexually assaulted an elderly woman in Portland, a city that refuses to cooperate with immigration enforcement."

Had we had an immigration policy over the years that made sense and was enforced, there would be no sanctuary cities. There are also too many people on the left who embrace Soros' "Open Society, Open Borders" policies. Look to Europe for what happens when open borders is actually implemented.

That's it, cut the revenue stream.
Then, if the cities in question are smart, they'll stop sending tax money up the line. Then we find out who's in control.

[BBC] Flats have been evacuated near to the ss Great Britain in Bristol following a "possible chemical incident", Avon and Somerset Police said.
A bomb disposal team has been deployed to Gas Ferry Road and a cordon has been put in place after the "discovery of items" in one of the flats.
One man has been detained in connection with the incident, police said.
Residents told the Bristol Post homes were evacuated at about 20:00 BST due to a "threat" to one of the buildings.
The ss Great Britain is moored in the city and a popular visitor attraction.
A Bristol City Council spokesman said people living in Kingdom House, Steamship House, Great Western House, Great Eastern House and Horsley House have been told to leave their homes.
A rest centre has been set up at the nearby Spike Island building in Cumberland Road.
The missile fast-attack craft and amphibious fleets of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy (PLAN) have undergone significant modernization over the past fifteen years. The capabilities of both categories of vessels have improved even if their actual numbers have not increased dramatically. Examined from the perspective of PLA doctrine and training, the missions of these forces represent the PLAN’s past, present,
and future.
Taken together, these two categories of ships and boats enhance China’s deterrence posture, help defend its coastal waters, warn Taiwan of the dangers of further moves toward independence, add to China’s long-range sealift capacity, and assist in the PLA’s ability to conduct nontraditional security tasks. In the newer ships entering the inventory, we see both capabilities to conduct the PLA’s traditional mission of defense of China’s 18,000-kilometer coastline and 6,500 islands and hints of the missions of the future.
These two fleets represent the yin and yang of the PLAN: its enduring “offshore operations” missions and its future “blue-water” or “far-seas” tasks. The US Navy is terrible about presenting these types of studies as news. Actual study is at the link (PDF)
[Guardian] National Intelligence Service says it mobilised cyberwarfare experts to ensure Park Geun-hye beat rival and now president Moon Jae-in.
South Korea’s spy agency has admitted it conducted an illicit campaign to influence the country’s 2012 presidential election, mobilising teams of experts in psychological warfare to ensure that the conservative candidate, Park Geun-hye, beat her liberal rival.
An internal investigation by the powerful National Intelligence Service also revealed attempts by its former director and other senior officials to influence voters during parliamentary elections under Park’s predecessor, the hardline rightwinger Lee Myung-bak.
Claims, now confirmed by the service, that it was behind an aggressive online campaign to sway voters is certain to add to public anger towards South Korea’s political system.

[Iraq News] Local authorities ran into a mass grave containing the relics of 40 persons in Anbar province, an official was quoted saying on Friday.
Ammar Nouri, head of the Anbar Province Martyrs Committee, said the grave was found at al-Tash region, south of the city of Ramadi.
"They were decomposed and bore signs of gunshots in the skulls," Nouri said in statements, adding that the victims had probably been executed in 2015.
IS had notoriously executed tens of civilians and security agents in Ramadi and Fallujah after they had refused to pay allegiance to the group.
Iraqi forces have occasionally discovered several mass graves of security members and civilians executed by IS since operations to liberate Lion of Islams-held regions were launched in October. Islamic State has held the towns of Annah, Rawa and Qaim since 2014, when they occupied a third of Iraq to proclaim an "Islamic Caliphate". So far, there has not been a wide-scale campaign to retake those regions, but occasional offensives managed to take over several surrounding villages.

[SUN-SENTINEL] Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz ...Congresswoman-for-Life from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish... defiantly stands by her decision to keep an information technology aide on her payroll for six months after he was banned from the House network and fired by other members of Congress.
"I believe that I did the right thing, and I would do it again," Wasserman Schultz said Thursday in an exclusive interview with the Sun Sentinel. "There are times when you can’t be afraid to stand alone, and you have to stand up for what’s right.
"It would have been easier for me to just fire him," she said.
The Weston Democrat did fire Imran Awan last week after he was locked away Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! on bank fraud charges at an airport while trying to leave the country.
As the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, Wasserman Schultz is the most prominent Democrat who employed Awan. Her decision to keep employing Awan has been under fire from her Democratic primary challenger, Republicans and multiple conservative websites. They’ve suggested Wasserman Schultz is hiding something and the Awan matter is much more serious than she’s letting on.
His arrest, the congresswoman said, had nothing to do with the months-long investigation of Awan as an IT worker for a variety of members of Congress. An FBI affidavit filed with the criminal complaint said Awan and his wife claimed a property used to secure a home equity line of credit was a "principal residence," when it was, in fact, a rental property. Wasserman Schultz said there still hasn’t been any evidence presented that he’s done anything wrong involving his work for Congress.
And, she said, she believes he may have been put under scrutiny because of his religious faith. Awan is Moslem.
Awan, his wife and brothers worked for years for various members of Congress, including Wasserman Schultz. He was a so-called shared employee, with each office paying a part-time salary.
In February, Wasserman Schultz said, chiefs of staffs for members of Congress were told that Awan was under investigation and his access to the House network was suspended. House payroll records show that multiple members of Congress terminated Awan quickly, early in February.
Instead of firing him, Wasserman Schultz said her office worked with the House chief administration officer to develop a job description that "would allow him to continue to do work ... until such time as there were other charges brought or we had some evidence that there was something that was produced that warranted further action."
Even without access to the IT network, Wasserman Schultz said, "there are plenty of technological issues that an IT person can assist with. He didn’t have access to the network, but he was able to give us guidance and advice and troubleshoot on a wide variety of other technological issues." IT isn’t limited to computer network issues, she said; it includes phones, printers, the website and helping people with software.
"I had grave concerns about his due process rights being violated," she said. "When their investigation was reviewed with me, I was presented with no evidence of anything that they were being investigated for. And so that, in me, gave me great concern that his due process rights were being violated. That there were racial and ethnic profiling concerns that I had," she said.
Wasserman Schultz said the chiefs of staff were told that Awan and his family members were having their access to the House IT network cut off because they were under investigation for "procurement violations and data transfer violations." Wasserman Schultz said from what she has been able to discern the data transfer issue doesn’t involve anything sinister.

Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... forces launched a powerful assault in the JIzan Region of Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Using their plethora of ATGMs, the Houthi forces rained missiles on several Saudi military posts in the Jizan Region, scoring a multitude of direct hits in the process.
In response to the Houthi attack, the Saudi-led Coalition launched several Arclight airstrikes over the Jizan Region and northern Yemen, targeting any potential threat near the border.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... Death Eaters group used Humvee type armored personnel carriers and Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) in their latest large scale attack in southern Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province of Afghanistan.
However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... the provincial government says the offensive by the Taliban Death Eaters was successfully repulsed by the Afghan cops, claiming that heavy casualties were incurred to the group during the festivities which still continue in some parts of Greshk district where festivities broke out late on Thursday night. Finally, someone has found a use for the Humvee.
A statement by Helmand governor’s office said the attack was repulsed by the security forces and heavy casualties have been inflicted to the myrmidons.
The statement further added that the Taliban Death Eaters were attempting to destroy the Yakhchal bridge in Greshk by launching a large scale attack despite the bride plays a key role and is considered an important route for the TAPI gas pipeline project.
The Afghan cops however had intelligence information available with them regarding the attack which helped them to repulse the offensive and prevent further destructive activities in the area.
According to the local officials, a Humvee vehicle of the Taliban, a heavy anti-aircraft machine, a PKM machine gun were left in the area after they were forced to retreat.
More than 40 Taliban Death Eaters have been killed including some of their key commanders and dozens more were maimed during the 12-hour clash, the statement said, adding that the area is totally under the control of the Afghan cops.

[BREITBART] An internal Department of Justice memorandum obtained by Breitbart News Friday indicates Attorney General Jeff Sessions is trying to get to the bottom of the DOJ "slush fund" for left-wing groups he dismantled in June.
The memo asks all components of the DOJ to recount the last ten years of payments made to non-governmental organizations as third parties in settlements and provide that information to Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, the number three Justice official. These "cy pres" payments were a long-standing policy of having mostly corporate defendants, for example in a civil rights suit, agree to pay into charities as part of their settlement with the government to avoid further prosecution.
In recent years, especially during the B.O. regime, the practice increasingly funneled funds to left-wing "community organizing" groups such as the now renamed National Council of La Raza, or "The Race," a Latino racial advocacy group that supports mass illegal immigration. Congressional Republicans and conservative groups decried the payments for years, often characterizing the system as a "slush fund" for leftists but, since they were made under the auspices of the Department of Justice using broad, decades-old legislation, it was difficult to rein in.
Attorney General Sessions, however, put a stop to the payments unilaterally in June, issuing a department-wide memo prohibiting all payments to third parties in settlements not under three narrow exceptions, for example, genuine victim compensation. The announcement was widely heralded as a victory by conservatives.
The new memo, dated July 28, goes further, commanding DOJ attorneys to look back into the history of these settlements and report back every payment that would not meet the new standards laid down in June. Payments agreed to but not yet paid out are also to be identified. Every component is to be reported to Associate Attorney General Brand by the end of the month.

Corporations were required to pay Jizya (slush fund) to the government for settlements (probably out-of-court) to make the allegations go away. The Jesse Jackson model writ large. That money was then doled out to leftwing and radical organizations such La Raza (and most likely Acorn) and others. "We the people" end up paying the freight in the way of higher prices and losses in jobs and lost commerce and lost representation. Is it time for the pitchforks yet?
[Al Jazeera] Pakistain's new prime minister has called for an investigation into allegations that opposition politician Imran Khan ... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... harassed a former female member of his political party.
Shahid Abbasi on Friday backed moves to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the matter after a group of politicians raised the allegations in the house.
The scandal erupted on Tuesday after Ayesha Gulalai, a National Assembly member from the conservative Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central... province, announced she was quitting Khan's Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... Khan, a former captain of Pakistain's national cricket team, has denied the allegations. No, no! Certainly not! and accused the ruling Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) of organising a smear campaign in the run-up to elections next year.
Gulalai announced in Islamabad that "Imran Khan's list of sins is very long" and that she decided to speak out because she does not want to compromise her integrity.
Gulalai has not released any of the alleged text messages.

[AlAhram] A Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... jacket wallah who struck a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... patrol in Afghanistan, killing a service member and two civilians, had concealed his explosives beneath the all-enveloping women's garment known as a burqa, a district governor said Friday.
The attack the previous evening hit the patrol near Qarabagh, barely 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of Kabul.
It was the second suicide kaboom in as many days that targeted NATO. On Wednesday, a suicide kaboomer hit a convoy on the edge of the southern city of Kandahar, killing two U.S. soldiers and wounding another four. Both attacks were claimed by the Taliban.
Abdul Sami Sharifi, the district governor in Qarabagh, said the attacker in Thursday's bombing was riding a cycle of violence and rammed the bike into a NATO patrol, setting off his explosives.
Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named over the phone on Friday that one of its fighters from Takhar province carried out the attack at 8 p.m. He claimed 11 Americans were killed, but the holy warriors routinely exaggerate their claims.
[AlAhram] The U.S. military on Friday confirmed it killed a high-level commander of the al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... myrmidon group with an Arclight airstrike in Somalia over the weekend, targeting a man blamed for planning deadly attacks in the capital of the Horn of Africa nation.
President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... earlier this year approved expanded military operations against the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab, including more aggressive Arclight airstrikes and considering parts of southern Somalia areas of active hostilities. al-Shabaab is the deadliest Islamic myrmidon group in Africa.
A U.S. Africa Command statement said the strike on July 30 killed Ali Mohammed Hussein, also known as Ali Jabal. The statement said he was "was responsible for leading al-Shabaab forces operating in the Mogadishu and Banadiir regions in planning and executing attacks against the capital of Mogadishu."
Ali also had served as the myrmidon group's shadow governor for Mogadishu and had been one of al-Shabaab's most outspoken officials.
The statement said the Arclight airstrike occurred near Tortoroow, an al-Shabaab stronghold in Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia "as a direct response to al-Shabaab actions, including recent attacks on Somali forces." It said no non-combatants were killed in the strike.
The U.S. Africa Command has told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named it was a dronezap.
The killing of Ali "disrupts al-Shabaab's ability to plan and conduct attacks in Mogadishu and coordinate efforts between al-Shabaab regional commanders," the U.S. statement said.
[AlAhram] Italy has warned NGOs operating migrant rescue boats in the Mediterranean they will not be allowed to continue if they do not sign up to new rules governing their operations.
Minniti's warning came a day after Italian authorities impounded a boat operated by German aid organisatiion Jugend Rettet on suspicion its crew effectively collaborated with people traffickers in a way that facilitated illegal immigration.
The aid organisation, which has only been operational for a year, declined to comment on the substance of detailed allegations made against it by Italian prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio.
Italian authorities had been monitoring Jugend Rettet's boat, the Iuventa, since October. Its crew is suspected to taking on board dinghy loads of migrants delivered directly to them by people traffickers and allowing the smugglers to make off with the vessels to be used again.
At least one such meeting allegedly took place only 1.3 miles off the Libyan coast, according to the prosecutor's file, the contents of which were published by Italian media.
Under the code of conduct, boats like the Iuventa would notably have to have an Italian police officer on board monitoring their activities.
Only three of the nine NGOs involved in search and rescue operations have so far agreed to abide by the code: Save The Children, Malta-based MOAS and Spain's Pro-Activa Open Arms.
Among those who have refused to sign is the Nobel Prize-winning organisation Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
Minniti meanwhile said a sharp fall over recent weeks in the number of migrants arriving in Italy following rescues was an indication that efforts to beef up the Libyan coastguard and cooperation with local mayors was bearing fruit.
"In recent days we have begun to see light at the end of the tunnel," the minister said. He revealed plans for further talks this month with Libyan mayors on economic development initiatives and with Chad, Niger and Mali on measures to reduce the number of migrants leaving those countries in the hope of reaching Europe.
Any bets on how long until Turkey opens its borders to allow migrants passage? And in the meantime, will the other "rescue" operations take their cargoes to Spain instead?
[Al Jazeera] Campaigning has ended in Mauritania, a day before voters head to the polls to decide on controversial constitutional reforms.
The referendum, called for by President Mohammed Ould Abdel Aziz, seeks to abolish the senate and change the country's flag, among other changes.
Aziz contends that the changes are needed to make the government stronger, but opposition parties argue that if implemented, the changes will give the president sweeping powers and the government will slide towards dictatorship.
"When a leader violates the contract he has with the people and he wants to stay against the will of the people, this opens the door for more disturbance," Mohammed Jamil Mansour, president of the coalition forum, told Al Jazeera's Rob Matheson.
The opposition fears that if the senate is disbanded, the president will try to remain in control for a third five-year term, which he cannot do under the current constitution.
"While he thinks of another term in office, there's a risk of disturbance," Mansour said.
But Aziz has said that extending his rule is not why he called for the referendum.
"Lots of lies have been told to you," he said at a rally of pro-reform supporters.
"You have been told that the president is doing this to stay in power for third team. All of this is lies. It's lies."

[SPECTATOR.ORG] It is impossible to overstate the partisan jackassery of CNN, which is at once a product of the cynical, ratings-driven scumbaggery of its head Jeff Zucker and the pretentious liberalism of its "news hounds," almost all of whom come from Democratic circles. What an astonishing collection of frauds. With their anchormanish baritones, they try to hoodwink viewers into thinking they are "serious" journalists. But they are all just liberal activists playing news hounds on TV. Jake Tapper was a Dem staffer. So was Jim Sciutto. Ace newshound Christiane Amanpour, last heard lecturing journalists on the need to drop "neutrality" in its coverage of Trump, is married to former Clinton staffer James Rubin. And the list goes on and on.
Out of this ethos came Jim Acosta, who, thanks to Trump, has justly become the face of fake news. Acosta’s hectoring of Stephen Miller on Wednesday -- behavior indistinguishable from a La Raza activist at a Trump rally -- confirms once again the journalistic bankruptcy of Jeff Zucker’s CNN. Acosta doesn’t need any encouragement to be a demagogic jerk, but Zucker has no doubt flashed that green light to him. (By the way, where are the successors to the Kalb brothers to tsk-tsk Zucker for his complete abandonment of "objective" journalistic conventions in pursuit of the cheapest of entertainment values? That even those old charades no longer occur is itself proof of the media’s status as an unapologetic opposition party.)
But conservatives should thank Acosta for pulling off CNN’s mask completely. It reveals the face of an exceedingly dumb and arrogant liberal. Poets, according to the windy adage, are the unacknowledged politicians of mankind. But Acosta on Wednesday was determined to turn Emma Lazarus into an acknowledged one. He demanded to know why the Trump administration wasn’t using her poem as the organizing principle of immigration policy.
Of course, he wasn’t literate enough to use her name. He had the "Statue of Liberty" voicing her poem. Miller had to point out to him that the poem wasn’t part of the original Statue of Liberty, a correction the media resented terribly (it spawned a spate of stories dunning Miller for his lack of appreciation for the poetry of Lazarus).
It became quickly apparent that Acosta was out of his depth, as Miller gave him a brief tutorial on the history of America’s immigration policy. My favorite moment came when Miller responded to the lazy retort of Acosta -- What policy am I advocating? -- by saying: "unfettered immigration." That’s exactly what he is demanding. Acosta in effect wants the Statue of Liberty renamed the Statue of Open Borders, with perhaps a worthy poetic successor to Emma Lazarus made head of the INS.
Acosta was too much of a dummy to grasp Miller’s point -- that liberty and open borders can’t coexist, with the loss of that liberty hitting the poorest, including legal immigrants colonists, the hardest.

It seems CNN is owned by Time Warner company which is soon to be merged with AT&T and that AT&T may sell CNN to CBS. IMHO, CBS does a better job of pretending to be objective but that only makes them more dangerous.

[Iraq News] Iraqi police potted thirteen Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Lions of Islam who were sneaking into a village south of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... as security forces continue to comb the recaptured city.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command, which had led the campaign against IS in Mosul, said IS had lost more than 25.000 of its fighters in more than eight months of fighting.
Cap. Amir Watheq, from Nineveh police service, told BasNews website that the Lions of Islam were sneaking into al-Houd village in Qayyara, south of Mosul, coming from the eastern side of the city of Shirqat, Salahuddin.
He said security forces exchanged fire with the Lions of Islam after they attacked the troops. Thirteen Lions of Islam weer killed and three coppers were maimed, he added.
Iraqi government forces continue to comb Mosul for hidden Islamic State cells since Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi officially declared that the city became under troops’ control early July. Islamic State members have launched intermittent attacks against security forces and civilians over the past few weeks.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command, which had led the campaign against IS in Mosul, said IS had lost more than 25.000 of its fighters in more than eight months of fighting. The government plans to launch further offensives to retake a few remaining havens in Nineveh, Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Anbar and Salahuddin provinces.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Lions of Islam placed in durance vile Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! a preacher in Nineveh who had questioned news about the death of the group’s supreme leader, His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us... A local source in the province said an elite squad from IS, dubbed "The Black Battalion", whose members dress in black Afghani costumes, invaded a mosque in Tal Afar and arrested a preacher who is also a member of the group.
According to the source, the preacher refuted news about Baghdadi’s demise, and also warned in his sermon of what he described as the appearance of "a new imposter who could split the mujahideen (fighters)".
Baghdadi’s only open appearance was in June 2014, when he ascended the pulpit of the Grand Nuri Mosque in western djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... ’s Old City to proclaim an "Islamic Caliphate" in Iraq and Syria. He disappeared later and never showed up again, with occasional reports making speculations about his survival and whereabouts.
Since Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition, launched offensives to clear IS havens, the group has reportedly been hit with divisions and power disputes as Baghdadi’s death rumors grew.
Early July, a local source said a preacher with the group, nicknamed Abu Qutaiba, was burned to death in Tal Afar, shortly after his arrest over charges of "stirring sedition" through a Friday prayer sermon in which he inadvertently suggested Baghdadi’s possible death.

[IsraelTimes] Non-resident ambassadors from Senegal and Guinea, which recently upgraded diplomatic ties, to present credentials to the president next week
Senegal ... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees... and Guinea are sending their first-ever ambassadors to Israel next week, as Israel continues to expand its outreach to Africa.

[DAWN] AS Pakistain’s only living ex-military dictator, retired Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf ... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ... has emerged as a front man for that small but significant club in the country’s history. Now, with the political downfall of Mr Musharraf’s bitter foe Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... , the former dictator has made one gleeful comment after another against civilian politicians in recent days. Much of it has been easy to ignore as the rantings of an individual who has failed to accept his present-day marginal political relevance. But in typical Musharrafian style, the former dictator has gone too far. In a shocking interview to BBC Urdu from his base in self-exile, Mr Musharraf has defended not just his record in office, but that of generals Zia and Ayub too. Mercifully, even for Mr Musharraf, a defence of Gen Yahya Khan’s record may have been a step too far. Still, the brazen defence of two extremely damaging military dictatorships in the country’s history and a sweeping denunciation of all civilian governments are extraordinary. Mr Musharraf may be unapologetic, but he is also terribly wrong.
The devastation wrought by military regimes can be gauged by a straightforward metric that even Mr Musharraf can understand: most have left office in humiliation and in the immediate aftermath of each dictatorship, there has been a consensus in the country that a return to civilian rule is necessary (in Gen Ayub’s case, the extraordinary political circumstances somewhat delayed the inevitable). In Mr Musharraf’s case, he has further humiliated himself by relying on his parent organization to save him from serious legal trouble and escaping the country on a medical pretext. With his nemesis out of political office, perhaps Mr Musharraf should test his own theory of the Pak people’s preference for military dictators over civilian leaders by returning to Pakistain and bravely facing whatever the courts have in store for him. Surely, the same courts that have delivered justice in the eyes of Mr Musharraf in the case of Mr Sharif will do what is right by a ruler who is loved by the people, as Mr Musharraf’s argument suggests.
The contrast between a former dictator’s cowardly words spoken from exile and the searing remarks by legendary pro-democracy advocate Asma Jahangir on Pak soil could not be more damning. Ms Jahangir, whose principled and outspoken stand on democratic values and principles have made her a national treasure, has once again publicly asked the kind of questions that few else dare. Her central question -- why do only civilian politicians face accountability in Pakistain? -- is answered by the arrogance and utter foolishness of Mr Musharraf’s remarks. Indeed, Mr Musharraf’s very freedom today is because of an ongoing distortion in the constitutional scheme of things. The selective and self-serving understanding of responsibilities under the Constitution is at the heart of those distortions. Perhaps the present military leadership ought to consider publicly distancing itself from Mr Musharraf’s remarks.

[Iraq News] Iraqi Shia holy man and political leader Moqtada Tater al-Sadr ... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah... has urged to subject paramilitary forces fighting the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... to state control, further adding to the uniqueness of his stances from mainstream Shia politicians.
Delivering a speech to hundreds of thousands of his followers at al-Tahrir Square in Baghdad, al-Sadr urged to incorporate the Popular Mobilization Forces within the official Iraqi army and ensure it operates under the state’s oversight. He stressed on the importance of "placing weapons within the state’s hands exclusively".
The Shia-led Popular Mobilization Forces were formed in 2014 as per an edict by Iraq’s top Shia clergy to combat IS hard boys. They won government recognition as a national force under the prime minister’s command, but have faced recurrent accusations of human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... breaches and stirred controversy over reports they crossed the borders into Syria to fight IS by the side of Syrian government troops.
The demonstrations on Friday were organized upon a call from al-Sadr to protest the electoral system designed for the local elections slated for early 2018, which he deems unfair. He had led protests over the past months condemning the formation of the panel tasked with supervising the elections. The demonstrations turned violent and left casualties at one occasion.

[RT] German authorities were allegedly aware of Ahmad A.’s extremist tendencies for at least a year and tried to recruit him as an informant before the 26-year-old refugee went on a supermarket stabbing spree in Hamburg last week, killing one and injuring several others. Bring me the Tsarnaev and Hasan files Della. I think we have a match.
In June 2016, the State Criminal Police Office (KLA) allegedly tried to recruit the 26-year-old as an informant.
A KLA officer visited the asylum shelter in Hamburg to talk about potential radicalization within the migrant community, De Spiegel reports. The head of the asylum shelter reportedly informed the officer of Ahmad’s odd and potentially dangerous behavior.
The officer allegedly tried to approach the 26-year-old to find out about the “Islamist situation” in Hamburg. However, the attempt proved futile as the man refused to become an informant.
Furthermore, after talking with Ahmad, staff members of the Legato advisory center, which deals with cases of “religious-based radicalization,” said they were “overburdened” with the Palestinian who was suffering from “psychological problems.”
Der Spiegel further revealed that in September 2016, city authorities received information that the suspect was trying to ascertain the best way to make it into Syria, where he allegedly wanted to join the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group. Following the tip, federal police and border police were alerted of Ahmad’s motives.
The publication also said the man did not follow Islam’s code of ethics, and was drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis. The attacker also allegedly told an employee of the local café that “terror will come here.”
On 28 July, Ahmad A. went to an Edeka supermarket in Hamburg. Having grabbed a 20cm-long kitchen knife at the store, he began stabbing people and shouting “Allahu Akbar.” One person was killed and at least six others injured, before the attacker was apprehended by police.

[Iraq News] A suicide bomber killed three Iraqi army members on Friday as operations continue to clear Islamic State remnant militants in western Mosul.
A security source told Shafaq News that the bomber, donning an explosive belt, invaded a makeshift headquarter belonging to the army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service in al-Aghawat neighborhood, west of the city. He blew himself up and killed three CTS members in an initial toll, said the website.

This would not have been possible under either President Obama or President Hillary Clinton.
[DW] Former Blackwater security contractor Nicholas Slatten has had his first-degree murder conviction overturned by a federal appeals court. Nicholas Slatten was involved in the 2007 slaying of 14 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad.
Four Blackwater security contractors sentenced for their part in a 2007 massacre in Baghdad will have their sentences revised, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled on Friday, while former guard Nicholas Slatten saw his life sentence overturned.
The federal appeals court found that Slatten should have been trialed separately from his three co-defendants in 2014. Prosecutors had maintained that Slatten had fired the first shots at a crowded traffic circle in the Iraqi capital, ultimately leading to the deaths of 14 unarmed civilians and a life sentence for his role in the killings.
However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... the appeals court ruled that Slatten should be able to present new evidence at a new trial that one of his colleagues had in fact opened fire.
The federal prosecution's case against Slatten "hinged on his having fired the first shots, his animosity toward the Iraqis having led him to target (their vehicle) unprovoked," the appeals court panel of judges said. However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... subsequent statements made by an unnamed co-defendant admitting that that he had fired the first shot "strike at the heart of that theory and instead point to the co-defendant, not Slatten."
New sentences for Blackwater co-defendants
The three other Blackwater contractors involved in the massacre - Paul Slough, Evan Liberty and Dustin Heard - will also receive new sentences. The court on Friday found that their mandatory 30-year sentences had violated the constitutional prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment. Federal prosecutors had charged the men with using military arms while committing another felony - a statute generally employed against gang members or bank robbers, which had never been used against government security contractors.
The court also dismissed Liberty's attempted manslaughter convictions. His attorney, Bill Coffield, said they would review the available options. "Obviously we're pleased with the court's decision in terms of the unconstitutionality of the sentence," he said.
Heard's attorney, David Schertler, said in a statement that his client was entitled to a new trial, writing that "we are gratified that the court recognized the gross injustice of the 30 year mandatory minimum sentences imposed in the unique war zone circumstances of this case."
A front man for the US attorney's office said it was still reviewing the decision and no immediate comment.
Unanswered questions
The four former Blackwater contractors were sentenced in 2014 following a weeks-long trial in which the prosecution and defense presented contrasting versions of what triggered the slaying.
Federal prosecutors presented the massacre as a one-sided ambush on a group of unarmed civilians, while the defense claimed that the guards only opened fire after a potential boom-mobile began speeding towards their convoy, which was trying to clear a path for US diplomats. After the shooting, no evidence of a boom-mobile was ever found.
The incident stood out for its brutality, even as Iraq found itself in the midst of a violent sectarian war. In the US, it sparked fierce debate over the role of private contractors in war zones.
Since the ruling, Blackwater has been sold and is now operating as Virginia-based Academi.
[HOTAIR] A new Harris Poll has revealed that Americans are growing pretty g***** tired of all this f****** cursing, at least those paying a nice chunk of change to be entertained in a movie theater. Yeah. I hate that f*****g s**t.
Scriptwriters typically intend bad words to emphasize a character’s emotional intensity, as do lazy speakers in private conversations. But those words have really become so common they strike many as mere verbal crutches for bad actors and a sign of their weak f****** vocabularies. It p****s me off in movies, and it p****s me off when I hear it in public. It's nothing but s****y behavior.
The most offensive swear words, the Hollywood Reporter reports, are taking the name of Jesus Christ in vain. A third of respondents said they’d completely avoid a movie if they knew that was in there. A close second was g****** with f*** right behind. That's because those dumb s**********s weren't raised right.
It’s no f****** surprise that Republicans are more repulsed by swearing than are Democrats; 45% of them dislike the f-word in movies against only 25% of D***. More women (37%) are bothered by that than men (26%). Being more conservative generally, Publicans tend to have better manners than Sinners. It's just another reason for Pharisees and Sadducees to dislike them.
Younger people seem less bothered by cinematic cursing than seniors. In fact, more than half of those over 72 would skip a film with f*** and g****** in it. I said, MORE THAN HALF OF THOSE OVER 72 WOULD SKIP A MOVIE WITH F*** OR G****** IN IT. I guess if you've grown up hearing Mom and Dad or Step-parent casually saying f**k and s**t you're used to it so you don't give a d**n when you hear it outside the home.
Evangelicals appear the most sensitive to movie cursing. Seventy-four percent would not pay to see a movie using f*** while 90% would avoid a film using Jesus Christ in vain. Evangelicals were also bothered by s***, d**n, h***, p*** and c**p. One of my personal least favorites is c**p, which is a synonym for s**t.
The poll was commissioned by filmmaker Spencer Folmar, director of “Generational Sins.” Folmar said the data helped him better understand the audience, adding, “We may create an alternate version for those who want to enjoy the story without all the language that comes naturally to our characters.” I watched a John Wayne movie -- McClintock -- last night. Nary a "d**n" to be heard. Lumpenintellectuals would have come down with the vapors when Maureen O'Hara got spanked.
That could create one version of “Generational Sins” with a PG-13 rating and another rated NFW (No F****** Way).
Since the inauguration, leading Democratic politicians have gone all in for strong language to show the intensity of their feelings. Congratulations on choosing yet another way to drive away former Democratic voters, guys -- this is how you get more Trump.

Hollywood has no ideas and so just turn out cap. I don't mind cursing, as I do it a lot myself, but when they just use it to replace dialog and acting it is very boring and kills the movie.

Check out the old movies on TV sometime. Recently I watched Them!, Dial M for Murder and Some Like it Hot. Can't remember a single curse word in any of them. But they were highly entertaining.
I think it was on TCM. No advertisements either. Some of the cable movie channels show good movies but interrupt them every ten minutes with five minutes of advertising. Who do they think is watching all those advertisements? I can't.

Yes. After at least 40 years of overuse, "f---" and "s---" are about as shocking as "the" and "and." But considerably more tiresome.
And, yes, I didn't spell them out because I was raised in the 1940-50s.

[DAWN] Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday called for the formation of a special committee to investigate the allegations of harassment levelled against Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan ... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems... by MNA Ayesha Gulalai.
The premier was addressing the National Assembly shortly after his cabinet took oath at a ceremony at the Presidency. Following the ceremony, Abbasi presided over a meeting of the newly formed cabinet.
Abbasi, in his address to politicians, called for the formation of a special committee to probe the allegations against Khan in-camera and suggested that the committee present a report before the House after its investigation so that the "matter can be closed". The assembly passed the motion and directed the committee to submit its report within a month.
He assured both the accused and the accuser they would be respected, adding that the PTI chief had the "right to defend himself".
Abbasi also promised round-the-clock protection for MNA Gulalai after she claimed on television that she was scared for her life.
While announcing her departure from PTI earlier this week, Gulalai had accused Khan and his "gang" of having an "immoral character".
The MNA from Wazoo alleged that Khan "would forward inappropriate and explicit text messages to party women", claiming that she received the first such message in 2013.

[ALMASDARNEWS] More footage has been leaked from the front-lines in southern Raqqa Governorate where the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) elite Tiger Forces, supported by pro-government tribal militias, are heavily engaged with ISIS Death Eaters.
The footage shows pro-government forces (both army troops and tribal fighters) embattled against ISIS in an unnamed town or village that straggles the western bank of the Euphrates River.
The Tiger Forces and tribal militias can be seen employing assault infantry, Toyota pickups armed with 23-mm ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns and battle tanks as they push their way through ISIS lines.

[War Zone] A very unique USAF surveillance aircraft has been flying highly defined circles over Seattle and its various suburbs for nine days now. Nobody at the DoD seems to know who the aircraft belongs to or what exactly it is doing flying so many missions over the Seattle area. But based on its visibly exotic configuration, and information collected by open source flight tracking websites, we can get a good idea of its capabilities and guess as to what it’s up to.
The aircraft, which goes by the callsign "SPUD21" and wears a nondescript flat gray paint job with the only visible markings being a USAF serial on its tail, is a CASA CN-235-300 transport aircraft that has been extensively modified for the surveillance mission. You can see more pictures of the aircraft here.

Probably a surprise to no one, but I checked a couple of aviation serial number links (civilian and military) and 66402 does not appear to be listed.
From the link: CN-235-300 CASA Modification of 200/220 series, with the Honeywell International Corp. avionics suite. Other features include improved pressurization and provision for optional twin-nosewheel installation.

Seafair used to be big thing in Seattle when I was growing up. But then they got rid of some of the more un-PC aspects like the SeaPirates. I remember the SeaPirates raiding Alki beach and making off with some of the fair ladies there. And the hydroplane races themselves have become far too 'corporate-professional'.
[AlAhram] Syrian opposition activists and state media say an kaboom has targeted an office of the al-Qaeda affiliate in northern Syria, inflicting casualties.
Syrian state TV did not provide further details in its report. The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the kaboom occurred near the office belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked Levant Liberation Committee on Friday.
The Observatory says two of the holy warrior group's fighters were killed and several others were maimed.
The Ibaa news agency, which is linked to al-Qaeda, says the blast in the village of Urum al-Kubra, west of the northern city of Aleppo, left "several deaders" and maimed people.
The kaboom comes amid rising tension in northern Syria between the al-Qaeda-linked group and other factions, including more moderate rebels.
[AlAhram] A policeman and a civilian were killed on Thursday night when gunnies in a vehicle shot up a security checkpoint in Upper Egypt’s Luxor governorate, a security source told state news agency MENA.
The attack started when police personnel manning the checkpoint, located in the Esna area, attempted to stop a passing car. Shots were then fired from within the car.
Security forces tossed in the clink Book 'im, Mahmoud! one of the assailants and found weapons and explosives in his possession, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Three civilians who happened to be in the area when the attack took place were also injured.
[LEGALINSURRECTION] Leak of full transcripts of presidential conversations with foreign leaders a milestone in effort to paralyze the Trump administration.

Once Flynn was replaced by McMaster, the battle was lost
#3
Coup against Trump? It started before he was elected. It is the tyranny of progressivism. You can't win at the ballot box, so you try to take down a Constitutionally elected POTUS subversively. Every American should be concerned!
#4
Trump is a threat to the beltway party. Among other changes, he wants to put a stop to 'Endless Wars' which appears to be the bread and butter of the Deep State. 'Regime change' has been brought home to us.
Yes. Because the cosmopolitan globalists aren't Americans. When you hear the phrase 'white nationalist' in a country that is 75 percent white, you know they have no tolerance of Americans or their Constitution.

The important thing here is the largest non-democracy party took power 8 years ago and were shocked to know they had not rigged the system sufficiently to retain power indefinitely during the last election.
The day will come when they get back into power when they will succeed, and it will be by far more brutal means.

McMaster is cleaning up the mess Flynn left. Flynn was an Obama appointee, remember? And he was part of the swamp, living off of beltway pull after he retired. His appointment was a mistake that Trump quickly fixed.
The infighting is nasty, with the Swamp aiding and abetting leakers and anyone else, including alt-right conspiracy nuts, in order to make Trump and his staff look bad.

Re #8 Yes, Flynn was not even one of DeGaulle's "indispensable men." Why Trump let the asshole Bannon talk him into Flynn is a mystery that won't be unraveled anytime soon.

Concur and a thousand thumbs up. Flynn was the classic sycophant and self promoter. Also the type to attempt to blow things up after he leaves to prove how "indispensable" he was.

This is nothing more than a coup attempt by the DC elites. Why are the republicans not striking out??? Why are they defending and siding with the Dems. Short answer is they are putting their political control of this nation above the peoples wishes. They do not serve We the people. They are attacking the very leader we elected. They are using a special council with a grand jury to isolate and destroy the president in the same fashion that was used in Columbia to capture Pablo Escobar. They will pull in every person that has ever done business with Trump into the grand jury. The antics will be public. They will make wild accusations and charges. A defense by the accused is not permitted, by law. Don't believe it? Look it up. They are going to turn honest men and women into scapegoats for crimes they did not commit. And why are they doing this? There has yet to be evidence of a crime? This is the systematic tearing apart of an individual in the hopes of finding some dirt. In the hopes of stopping the president from performing his duties. When you act like this its because you cant have an outright coup, so you bind him up in a legal fishing trip. Last question, how many of you that read this could stand this level of investigation, and the level of lies with zero ability to defend yourself????

the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has

Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
