#1 I have news from the home front. My younger bro teaches ESL in Bangkok, and say it is life as usual. There is no difference in day to day activities there .

#2 The protests had been winding or slowing down already - personally, I'm intrepreting this action by Thailand's army as a covert "safe" response to the still-escalating China-vs-Vietnam-n-PHIL brouhaha occurring over in the South China Sea.

Tailand doesn't need these mass proests to be taking place at the same time a major shooting war breaks out in the SCS.
