42 Percent of Last Week's Known Border Crossers in One Texas Sector Got Away
[Breitbart]

These are in addition to the 293,993 known gotaways reported by Fox News on January 28. Border Patrol agents told the news network that there have been 1.2 million gotaways since Joe Biden became president two years ago.

During the past two weeks, Owens reported the apprehension of 12,355 migrants and 8,569 known gotaways. Included in the apprehensions were the arrest of 52 criminal aliens and eight sex offenders.

The number of large migrant group crossings appears to have decreased significantly. During the past two weeks, Del Rio Sector agents encountered only eight large groups.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief February 4, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • RUMOR OF BAN ON SUNNI-SHIITE MARRIAGES IN BADAKHSHAN DENIED – Early reports had suggested the District Governor in Nasi had issued a proclamation banning marriages between Sunni and Shiite Muslims. The Taliban head of Information and Culture said the ban was fake and that a letter circulating on social media was a forgery.

  • TALIBAN SUPPORTER ATTACKED IN TURKEY BY ENRAGED AFGHAN REFUGEES – Dr. Harif Mokhtar, a prominent supporter of the Taliban regime, was reputedly attacked and beaten by a group of Afghan refugees. Mokhtar’s son confirmed the attack and posted on his personal Twitter account that the attack was carried out by supporters of the Resistance. It is believed the attack took place in Istanbul but efforts are being made to find out additional information.

  • PAKISTANI TROOPS CONDUCT RAID IN NORTH WAZIRISTAN, KILL TWO MILITANTS – The Pakistani Army conducted the raid on a suspected militant hideout in the district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday. The ensuing shootout was short and the 2 militants were killed by gunfire. While the Pakistani forces have not released the identities of the militants and did not say which terror group with which they were affiliated, they did say the two were implicated in previous attacks against security forces. The incident took place very close to the Afghanistan border. No additional information was available.

  • KABUL-GHOR HIGHWAY CLOSED DUE TO SNOW – Travelers have been stopped from both directions as work crews attempt to clear heavy snow from the route. Some reports indicate that as many as 25 vehicles were stranded along the route when the conditions reduced visibility and the vehicles drove off the road into deeper snow. Rescue crews have been on-site to assist.

  • ISIS-K REMAINS INACTIVE IN AFGHANISTAN – The ISIS propaganda weekly, Al-Naba, published its most recent addition on ISIS social media outlets, and for the third week, no actions were proclaimed in Afghanistan. The lack of activity has security officials fretting that a major attack is in the works while Taliban leaders continue to say the threat from ISIS-K has been eliminated in some areas and will soon be eradicated throughout the country.

  • SUPREME LEADER SAYS INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE A MINOR NUISANCE AND WILL NOT FORCE DEVIATION FROM HIS POLICIES FOR FEMALES – In a meeting with military commanders in Kandahar on Friday, Hibatullah Akhunzada said he remains resolute in adhering to his Deobandi beliefs and that global pressures would not force a change. He went on to say that trust between his regime and the world had decreased significantly. Sources say the Minister of Defense was notably absent from the meeting.

  • HEKMATYAR UNDER THREAT FROM THE TALIBAN – It has been reported that the political party of Golbaduddin Hekmatyar, Hizb-e-Islami has been banned by the Taliban. It is not clear if the ban is a temporary measure, for security reasons, or a permanent ban. It has been rumored for some time that Hekmatyar had fallen out of favor and many viewed his increasingly critical sermons against the Taliban as seditious.

NEXT 24 HOURS
HOUSE SEARCHES LIKELY TO BEGIN AGAIN IN KABUL – As previously reported, Taliban security forces stood down their search efforts on Friday in observance of prayers. However, operations are expected to pick back up today with a focus on completing ongoing searches in Police Districts 11 and 15. Other Districts may also see activity today. At-risk Afghans are reminded to try and remain calm should a search party arrive at their residence and keep documents and money hidden while also ensuring any items that may be evidence of links to the former regime are not on open display in their homes.

ALERT
Alert 032, 3 Feb 2023 — (SECURITY THREAT) Several reports have come in over the previous 24 hours of searches being conducted in Islamabad, Pakistan. Local sources say that Pakistani police have come to apartment buildings and dwellings where Afghan refugees reside and have reputedly taken the male head of household away with them. The men were taken to local police stations and held until a bribe was paid, at which time [the men] were released. So far, twenty cases had been reported and the epicenter of the searches was in the Barakahu area of Islamabad (Northeast side of the city). However, it could be taking place elsewhere. Of the twenty cases reported, all had valid passports and visas as this was made known to the Police who had come to the apartments. We assess this situation is likely a localized incident and involves an illicit scheme to collect bribes. Several media outlets in Pakistan have picked up on the story and it is running rampant on social media. Some of the men were released without a bribe being paid and the timing of their release we did seemed to coincide with the media uproar. To our knowledge, this did not result in any legitimate arrests and we have heard that all those who were picked up have been released. However, we have only had contact with those involved in the twenty cases. (TAD STAFF)

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court sentenced a resident of the Rostov region to ten years in prison, finding him guilty of trying to join the Islamic State* militants in Syria.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a resident of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, finding him guilty of attempting to join the Islamic State* terrorist organization banned in Russia.

According to the version of the prosecution and the court, the man, under the influence of radical ideas, wanted to get through Turkey to Syria in order to join the militants there.

"In August 2021, he went to his associates in Karachay-Cherkessia, after which a few days later he was detained at the Mineralnye Vody airport while trying to fly to Istanbul," Interfax-South quoted the press service of the court on February 2 as saying.

The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with the first three years in prison, the remaining seven in a strict regime colony. In addition, the sentence provides for one year of restriction of liberty.

The man was found guilty under articles on involvement in a terrorist organization (205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code) and on participation in an armed conflict or military operations for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation (Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code). Under both articles, the Donetsk resident was only charged with preparing for a crime.

According to the card file of the Southern District Military Court, the sentence under these articles was handed down to Sergei Semin, whose case has been heard since August 2022. The federal list of terrorists and extremists on the Rosfinmonitoring website includes a 29-year-old native of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky with that name.

Aslambek Ezhaev sentenced to 17 years in prison
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Moscow sentenced Chechen book publisher Aslambek Ezhaev to 17 years in prison, finding him guilty of financing terrorism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow has scheduled for today the sentencing of book publisher Aslambek Ezhaev, who was charged under an article on assisting terrorists. The prosecutor demanded 18 years in prison for Ezhaev.

The investigation considers Ezhaev involved in organizing the financing of the terrorist community for 34 million rubles, he was charged under the article on promoting terrorist activities (part 4 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Sixty-year-old Aslambek Ezhaev was sentenced to 17 years in prison and a subsequent year of restriction of freedom on charges of transferring money to the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia by a court, Sota reports.

The head of the Islamic publishing house "Umma"
...the name itself should be a red flag...
himself categorically denies his connection with IS and any support for terrorism. "At the trial, he swore by Allah that he had nothing to do with this, and said that such a sentence for him would be life. He bequeathed to his sons to protect his honest name," the publication says.

In the case card on the website of the court, information about the results of the meeting, as of 14.00 Moscow time, was not published. Politician Maxim Shevchenko, citing lawyer Murad Musaev, confirmed the information about the verdict, Mediazona writes**.

Recall that Aslambek Ezhaev, a native of Chechnya, has been under arrest in Moscow since April 2021, and since April 2022 his case has been considered in court . During the search of his apartment, law enforcement officers used disproportionate force, members of the Freedom of Conscience committee said. Representatives of the Islamic community of Russia linked the persecution of Ezhaev with his professional activities.
Regnum adds:
The court found that not later than 2012, the defendant, who was an adherent of the idea of radical Islam, organized the financing of the terrorist activities of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation).

The case file states that since 2012, the person involved has met with contractors more than once, from whom he received money intended to finance this organization.

“Further on, he transferred over 34 million rubles to persons who are wanted on the territory of Russia for committing crimes of a terrorist nature ,” the message says.

It is specified that the defendant is the founder and owner of the Umma publishing house, which was also used to collect and transfer money.

“The books of this publishing house were recognized by the expert opinion as extremist, but the man formally changed the title of the works and republished them again. These books were also distributed among the prisoners ,” the press service reports.

According to these facts, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of organizing the financing of terrorist activities.

It is noted that the investigators conducted searches in the apartments and country houses of the person involved in the criminal case, as a result, technical means of transmitting information, bank cards used to finance terrorism, banned literature, and other paraphernalia of an extremist orientation were found.

Italy Arrests Five Migrant Smugglers
[LibyaReview] Five migrant smugglers in Libya, including three Bangladeshi and two Sudanese nationals who recently landed in Lampedusa in December, were arrested by the Italian police on Monday for criminal conspiracy.

According to judicial sources, the five are accused of aiding and abetting aggravated illegal immigration, criminal association, torture, and kidnapping for extortion.

The arrests, after warrants were issued by the anti-mafia authorities in Palermo, were carried out on Tuesday and approved by a preliminary investigations judge (GIP) in Agrigento, who ordered that the five be taken to prison.

Some migrants colonists claimed that they were abused during their time in a Libyan safe house, right until they departed for Sicily.

An investigation was launched by police, and coordinated by prosecutors in Palermo, after two migrant landings in Lampedusa on 26 December 2022.

There are two flow lines from Libya: the Tripoli region in the West, where 33,000 migrants departed, and the Cyrenaica region in the East, where 20,000 migrants departed. As well as 17,000 migrants coming via the eastern Mediterranean route (Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria).
Specialized officers were informed about the existence of an alleged human trafficking ring, mainly of Bangladeshi nationals, investigative sources said.

Subsequent investigations showed that the alleged trafficking victims, were detained inside ’centers’ until they paid more money for the crossing to Italia.

Investigations revealed "a criminal network of an international nature" and that "the five identified suspects — three Bangladeshis and two Sudanese — reached Lampedusa last December 26 together with their victims".

The State attorney’s office in Palermo stressed that the arrest warrants took into account evidence against the suspects whose "criminal responsibility will be defined in the subsequent phases of a trial, according to the constitutional principle of the presumption of innocence."

Earlier this month, an Italian Coast Guard official stated that 53,000 migrants colonists arrived in Italia by sea, from Libya in 2022. This is an increase of 70% compared to 2021, according to the AKI news agency.

This was stated by Admiral Giuseppe Aulicino, Head of the Plans and Operations Department of the General Command of the Italian Coast Guard. He told a hearing of the Constitutional Affairs and Transport Committees that NGO ships operating on the Cyrenaica-Lampedusa line had rescued more than 11,000 people, 34% of whom departed from western Libya.

He noted that a total of 105,000 migrants colonists arrived by sea in 2022, an increase of 56% over the previous year. 1,401 of them departed from Algeria, and 32,000 from Tunisia, an increase of 60% compared to 2021.

According to the official, there are two flow lines from Libya: the Tripoli

Turkey deports 1.325 Syrians in one month
[NPASyria] On Friday, management of Bab al-Hawa border crossing with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
revealed that the number of Syrian refugees whom Ottoman Turkish authorities had deported in January reached 1.325.

The Bab al-Hawa management said in a statement the Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 1.325 Syrians to their homeland from Turkey in January.

The crossing management unveiled early this year that in December of 2022 Turkey deported 1.504 Syrian refugees and 1.167 in November.

The toll of the Syrian refugees deported from Turkey through Bab al-Hawa border crossing from early 2022 to October reached 16.173, according to statistics North Press obtained by the border’s management.

The toll of travellers from and to Turkey in January reached 15.736, including 2.185 women and 13.551 men, according to the border’s management.

On Jan. 27, sources told North Press that the Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 50 Syrians to areas held by Turkey and its affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Amy (SNA), in northwest Syria, through Bab al-Salameh border crossing near the city of Azaz north of Aleppo.

Many reports reveal that Turkey carries out periodic deportations against Syrians under the pretexts of committing violations and lacking documentations, and it organizes reports to deport them.

US Court Files Indictment Against ISIS ‘Sniper’ In US
[NPASyria] A US citizen in a New York jail is charged with serving as a sniper and weapons trainer for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in Syria.

Born in Kazakhstan, Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, was brought to the US in 2019 following the fall of the self-proclaimed Islamic caliphate in Syria and Iraq. He was arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and turned over to the FBI
...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time...
The 46-year-old man from Brooklyn flew to Istanbul in December 2013 and from there he made his way to Syria to join ISIS. He rose through the group’s ranks and eventually became an "emir" who taught other members to use weapons.

In post-arrest videos shown at his trial, he gives his occupation as "a sniper" to FBI agents and readily tells them that he provided instruction in everything from rifle maintenance to ballistics to adjusting for weather effects — and, of course, "how to actually pull the trigger."

One of Asainov’s lawyers, Susan Kellman, said he went to Syria because he wanted to live under Islamic law. He has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
— a plea that Kellman entered on his behalf because, she said, he did not abide by the American legal system.

During the ISIS rule, as many as 40.000 people from 120 countries showed up to join in, according to the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
. There is no comprehensive US statistic on Americans among those imported muscle; a 2018 report by George Washington University’s Program on Extremism found at least 64 who had joined "jihadist fighting" in Iraq and Syria since 2011, the AP reported.

Since ISIS defeat, some foreign members and their families have been detained in prisons and camps in northeastern Syria run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the SDF.

Ruslan Asainov faces charges that include providing material support to ISIS, a US-designated foreign terrorist organization. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

2 terrorists killed during exchange of fire in North Waziristan: ISPR
[Dawn] Two bad boyz were potted during an exchange of fire between Death Eaters and security forces in the Esham area of the North Wazoo district, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

Following the "intense exchange of fire", weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, the ISPR added.

It further said the Death Eaters had remained "actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces".

The ISPR added: "The incident re-vindicates [the] Pakistain Army’s resolve to have zero tolerance for terrorism in Pakistain and reaffirms its determination to take on any and all entities that resort to violence."

The exchange of fire comes after a surge in terrorist activities in the country, especially in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan

] Perfume IED is first of its kind after sticky bombs, special team to check its impact'

Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in January 21 Narwal, Jammu blast case by arresting a Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
krazed killer, who is also a government employee, from whose possession a "perfume IED", first of its kind, was recovered.

Addressing a presser in Jammu, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh, as reported by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that after 11 days of hardwork of the Jammu police, a major success was achieved in the form of arrest of one Arif Ahmed, a resident of Reasi district of Jammu.

"Arif is a government employee and is an active krazed killer of Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit. He was working at the behest of Qasim, a Reasi resident and his uncle Qamardin, also a Reasi resident, presently in Pakistain, who are part of LeT," the DGP said. He said Arif was involved in three IED blast incidents—Shahstri Nagar, Katra and January 21 incident of Narwal, Jammu.

"So far we had seen IED with kabooms, sticky bombs and timer fitted IEDs but a new type of IED was recovered from Arif which is Perfume IED. This IED is in a bottle form and seems like a perfume bottle but contains kaboom," the DGP said, adding that "since the IED is new to us, experts will see how harmful and how powerful it can be. We have not touched it so far."

He said that the main aim of these IEDs is to target innocent people and to trigger communal hatred in the Jammu region. "Arif will not only lose his job but a strong dossier will be prepared against him. He was a very clever operative. He had burnt all the evidence be that his clothes, shoes and that he even set ablaze his mobile phone as well. But police worked hard on even small inputs and leads that led to the arrest of Arif," he said.

Police: Palestinian arrested on suspicion of planning major terror attack
[IsraelTimes] Undercover Border Police troops detain a wanted Paleostinian in the West Bank city of Jenin Thursday morning who is suspected of planning to commit a major terror attack in Israel, a law enforcement official says.

According to a police front man, 22-year-old Amir Karoui was detained in the Jenin refugee camp by the undercover forces, without any festivities.

The forces "operated covertly to arrest the terror operative. The arrest ended quietly without shots being fired and without casualties to our forces," the front man says.

The arrest was made following intelligence given to the forces by the Shin Bet security agency, which warned that Karoui was seeking to carry out an attack in Israeli territory.

Karoui has been transferred to the Shin Bet for further questioning.

Shin Bet says it foiled election day bomb plot by 2 Arab men enlisted by Hamas
[IsraelTimes] Agency alleges pair from Mu’awiya later planned shooting attack on soldiers after disagreeing with Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
-ruling terror group about civilian target.

The Shin Bet security agency on Friday said it foiled an attempt by the Gaza-ruling Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, terror group to carry out a bombing attack on the day of Israel’s recent elections using two Arab Israeli men.

Several weeks ago Mohammed Amin Muslah, 24, and Mohammed Faid Mahmeed, 28, both residents of the northern village of Mu’awiya, were detained over their involvement in the plot.

According to the Shin Bet, Muslah was recruited by the military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, to carry out a bombing against civilians when Israelis went to the polls on November 1.

Muslah then recruited his friend Mahmeed to carry out the attack, but at some point, the pair cut ties with Hamas over disagreements regarding the target, the agency said.

The Shin Bet said Hamas was adamant that they target civilians, but the two men wanted to attack soldiers.

Muslah and Mahmeed then allegedly worked to carry out a shooting attack against soldiers, including snatching soldiers’ guns to continue a deadly attack.

The pair conducted surveillance operations at several bus stops frequented by soldiers between the town of Binyamina-Giv’at Ada and Kafr Qara, practiced with a makeshift "Carlo" submachine gun, and sought to find a stolen car for the attack, according to the Shin Bet.

Ultimately, the pair picked a bus stop outside the Golani training base, near Kafr Qara, as their target, "since this stop is packed with IDF soldiers mainly on Thursdays," the security agency said.

Indictments filed against the pair on Friday charged them with contact with a foreign agent, providing services or means to a terror organization, conspiracy to commit a terrorist act of murder under aggravated circumstances, weapons offenses, and using a firearm, among other charges.

The agency warned that Hamas was increasingly trying to carry out attacks in the West Bank and Israel.

"The investigation of the affair reveals once again the fact that Hamas in the Gaza Strip exploits the Arab citizens of Israel and recruits them for the purpose of promoting terror activities in Israeli territory while harming the fabric of their lives in Israeli society," the Shin Bet said.

Unarmed Palestinian who allegedly lunged at troops shot dead in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] IDF says soldiers fired into air first, used deadly force after suspect refused to halt; suicide note found on his body; separately, Israeli driver comes under fire

A Paleostinian man was rubbed out after allegedly lunging at Israeli soldiers near the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Friday afternoon, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the Paleostinian suspect exited a vehicle that had arrived from Nablus, walked toward soldiers stationed near a bus stop, and allegedly lunged at them.

The troops first shot into the air, and after the suspect continued to refuse calls to halt, they fired directly at him, killing him, the IDF said. A military source said a suicide note was found on his body. The man was not armed.

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry named him as 26-year-old Abdullah Samih Ahmed Qalalwa.

No Israeli soldiers were hurt in the incident, the IDF said.

Separately on Friday, an Israeli driver came under fire near the West Bank city of Rawabi. The IDF said several bullet holes were identified on the car, and shell casings were found nearby.

Iran security forces targeting eyes of protesters: Rights group
[AlAhram] Iranian security forces have been systematically targeting the eyes of demonstrators in their crackdown on the protests that have swept the country since September, a human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
group said Friday.

Norway-based Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
Human Rights said initial data indicated young women were disproportionately represented among people who had sustained such wounds.

A Tehran newspaper earlier this week asked a top police commander if security forces had been targeting the eyes and other sensitive areas. He insisted on their good conduct.

IHR said protesters had been shot in the head and the face, leading "to many, including a significant number of young women, being blinded."

It said this "inhumane and unlawful act" had been "carried out systematically to crush protests."

IHR said it had documented 22 cases of people being blinded in one eye as a result of fire from the security forces, nine of them women.

The youngest person maimed -- Bonita Kiani Falavarjani, aged just six, from the city of Isfahan -- was shot and blinded in one eye while standing on her grandfather's balcony, it said.

In a high-profile case, Kosar Khoshnoudikia, a member of Iran's national archery team, was blinded in one eye after a protest in December in the city of Kermanshah.

"We don't have enough data yet, but I have the impression that maiden of tender yearss are over-represented among those whose eyes are targeted," said IHR director Mahmood Amiry Moghaddam.

Asked if security forces were targeting eyes, the commander of the special police, Hassan Karami, told the Hamshahri newspaper that "not harming the protesting population" was a priority for the police forces.

"I have so much faith in the ability of the special police units that I have said many times that I will offer a reward to anyone who can prove that someone was killed as a result of a mistake by our staff," he said.

According to IHR, security forces have killed at least 488 people during the crackdown on the protests which erupted in September following the death of the Mahsa Amini, 22, who had been arrested for allegedly violating the country's dress code for women.
