--Tech & Moderator Notes
Mild injection attack attempt
Last evening Rantburg.com under went what an only be called a rather inept DDOS and SQL injection/spamming attack:

The statistics:

The spamming attacks came from 21 unique IPs, from 11 unique netblocks. Most of the IPs were from European and Dutch netblocks. None of the messages were from residential netblocks, as far as can be detected.

The main concern is SQL injection attacks, and those really only affect the backup server. Fred's coding catches it and stuffs the data somewhere in a DB table until it can be examined. Dunno if it's by design or not, but it worked well that last time we had an attack.

It appears the backup server was not affected, since the normal database repopulation took place without any apparent problem.

The most interesting aspect of the attack was from this:

org-name: CIA TRIAD SECURITY LLC
org-type: OTHER
address: 2701 Centerville Road
address: New Castle County
address: Wilmington
address: Delaware 19808

Now, we all know the government would never do something as unseemly as participating in such an attack. If they wanted rantburg.com shut down, they'd just create a ticket, and the server is gone.

This is an indication of at least part of the participating servers.

Affected netblocks:

#5  A suite of internet privacy-enabling tools is at the center of a storm brewing in Germany over a controversial law enforcement investigation that’s already netted police mountains of personal and financial information on several different anti-censorship groups. These pro-online-anonymity, nonprofit organizations are now criticizing German police who, for their part, have mostly stayed silent on the operations.

On June 20, German police raided homes and offices for the group Zwiebelfreunde (translated as Onion Friends), an organization affiliated with the Torservers.net group which runs servers for the Tor anonymity network, German media reported. The raid came after the blog Krawalltouristen (translated as Riot Tourists) called for protests against right-wing German politicians. Police have been looking for the authors of this specific blog because they reportedly feared the protests could turn violent.

Police seized a trove of electronics and documents. But members of Zwiebelfreunde say they have no connection to the activist blog.

The reasoning for why police raided Zwiebelfreunde, even though the apparent target was Krawalltouristen, is unclear. The authorities remain silent, but the main links are that Zwiebelfreunde handles European donations for the privacy-minded email service RiseUp, which is also used by Krawalltouristen. It’s a link that’s been described as “tenuous” and “terrible” by critics.

(Zwiebelfreunde e.v. is associated with this attack using tor network that hides origins of users "in heavily censored and restricted countries". Apparently now being used to launch injection attacks on the internet.)

Start der Solikampagne „What the f*ck is Krawalltourismus“?

#10  Translation:

Solidarity campaign to fund an activist's legal costs. He is accused of having committed various crimes in August 2013 during an NPD rally as part of the racist mobilization in Berlin Hellersdorf.

Right at the beginning of the verdict of the first hearing, the judge depoliticized what was happening by describing the activist as a "riot tourist" who was neither concerned with a demonstration against neo-Nazis nor with the rights of refugees.

The term "riot tourism" is an attempt to depoliticize and criminalize left-wing activism. It is used in court processes and the media to devalue left-wing politics and the associated protest actions and to decouple them from their content.

There has also been conflicting information about the status of the crossing with some saying it is open to non-commercial traffic while others say it is closed to all traffic. Talks had reportedly begun shortly after the fighting to reopen the portal but a decision had yet to be announced.

  • PARWAN MEDIA OUTLETS MUST NOW CLEAR NEWS WITH TALIBAN MOUTHPIECE – Local provincial leaders have reputedly issued an order that all news content from the few remaining journalism outlets in the Province must be cleared through the Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency. Initially, the Iranian Foreign Ministry refused to accept Haqqani’s accreditation letter but told Soleimani recently that he should hand over the embassy to Haqqani on Sunday. Iran has yet to recognize the Taliban officially but has followed the precedent set by Russia, China, and Pakistan with regard to relations with Afghanistan.

Clashes Erupt on Durand Line at Torkham Gate
[ToloNews] Following the closure of Torkham gate, Islamic Emirate forces and Pak border guards engaged in a shootout, according to local officials.

There are currently no details available about casualties.

The gate was closed after Pakistain denied allowing the Afghan patients to cross the gate, according to the security officials in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province.

Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa suddenly spied Mr. Bartlett at the checkout counter. He was buying Grecian Formula!...
hundreds of people including patients have been stranded and the shops are closed.

"The fighting started in between two check posts on the top area. One of them belongs to Pakistain and another belongs to our Ministry of Defense," said Karimullah Agha, an intelligence officer at the gate.

The closure of the gate caused problems for many people needing medical care abroad and their accompanying relatives. They called on the two sides to reach an agreement over reopening the gate.

"There should be pressure on Pakistain to allow the patients. There are two to three people that are accompanying the patients. Pakistain is not treating us well," said Najibullah, a patient.

"Based on the agreement that is made between Afghanistan and Pakistain, between 100 to 150 people should be allowed to cross the gate," said Abdul Malik Samsor, a patient.

This comes as the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said that the closure of the gate affects the country.

"This issue damages both countries because we are transporting goods. We have trade with Pakistain," said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.

The truck drivers meanwhile said that they would suffer millions of Afs worth of damage if the gate is not reopened.

"If the gate of Torkham is not reopened, we will suffer between 500,000 to 600,000 Afs in transport services on a daily basis," said Ayoub Khan, a driver.

"You think of it, when the truck is loaded with vegetables and then the vegetables spoil on the way, the owner will heavily suffer from it," said Lala Mohammad Shah, a driver.

Recently there have been many festivities reported alongside the Durand Line between the Islamic Emirate forces and the Pakistain military.
a day before officials’ closing of Torkham gate, TTP warned Pakistan’s government of more attacks against police officers. The warning came after the attack on Karachi Police Chief Office which eight people were killed, including five terrorists and three police personnel and several others were injured.

As a result, Pakistan has tightened security measures and controls at the border crossing with Afghanistan due to security concerns and the movement of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other militants, according to officials.

On several occasions, Pakistani officials have accused Afghanistan’s current de facto government of not conducting operations against TTP sanctuaries.

However, the Taliban authorities refused the allegations and claimed they would not allow any group or individuals to use Afghanistan’s soil against Pakistan or other neighbouring nations.

During the past one and half years, there were several faceoffs between the Taliban and the Pakistani border troops in the two border crossings, Torkham and Chaman.

On the other hand, Pakistan is Afghanistan’s first trading partner since the Taliban took control of the country. At the same time, Afghanistan can play a bride role for Pakistan to reach Central Asian gas and oil-rich countries.

Car bomb wounds 1 person in Somali capital
Just a little pffffftt, then. Like Faisal the Fizzle-Bomber, the Pakistani MBA who didn’t realize one needs to master basic chemistry before blowing up Times Square.
[ShabelleMedia] At least one person was slightly maimed in a boom-mobileing in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Monday morning, during the rush hour.

Confirming the incident to Radio Shabelle,a witness said the blast has resulted from an bomb fitted to a luxury car that went off outside Aden Adden hospital.

The scene near Zoobe [K5] junction was sealed off by the police following the earth-shattering kaboom which caused the halt of the traffic and businesses along the street for about an hour.

The details about the prime target of the attack still remains murky with no immediate claim of responsibility. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
police said an investigation was underway at the time.

On Oct. 29 last year, the two boom-mobile blasts hit outside Somalia’s education ministry next to the K5 intersection, killing more that 100 people and maimed 300 others.

The attack which was claimed by al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
was the deadliest since a truck bomb went kaboom! at the same area in October 2017, leaving more than 587 people dead.

The K5 intersection normally teems with people buying and selling everything from food, clothing and water as well as foreign currency exchange and khat, a mild narcotic leaf.

Somalia: Curfew imposed in Harardhere amid Al-Shabaab threats
[Garowe] Security forces drawn from the Galmadug regional troops and the federal government of Somalia have imposed a curfew in on Haradhere District as a strategy to counter al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
, weeks after its capture.

Meetings held in the region concluded that a dusk-to-dawn curfew was to be implemented to prevent activities by the turbans. Military officers who are off duty, the report shows, will remain in barracks to avoid confusion as the country scales up operations in the region.

Al-Shabaab, the government said, ought to register cop shoppes as one of the measures to handle insecurity within the country.

The coastal city of Haradhere is one of the latest districts liberated from al-Shabaab.

The government has been penalizing people who have direct associations with al-Shabaab and last month, three clan elders were slapped with five-year prison terms after it was established that they visited al-Shabaab strongholds in Haradhere District.

Recently, the government forces with the help of the US Africa Command, the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] troops, and local militia managed to capture Haradhere from the turbans, who also lost Gal'ad town. The capture was termed the most "significant" gain this year by the forces.

Across the country, government troops have intensified attacks against the al-Shabaab, with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promising to ensure the country is fully liberated from the turbans. According to him, there were chances that al-Shabaab holy warriors will be completely quashed in Galmadug and HirShabelle.

The US Africa Command which resumed full operations in Somalia last year has been helping with aerial surveillance with the latest Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
coming last week which left five al-Shabaab holy warriors dead. The government of Somalia has appealed to members of the international community to assist it to contain the turbans.

51 Burkina troops killed by in ambush: New army toll
[AlAhram] At least 51 soldiers were killed in an ambush by suspected jihadists in northern Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, the army said on Monday, adding that 160 of the assailants died during counter-attacks.

The ambush took place on Friday in Oudalan province near the restive frontier with Mali and Burkina Faso.

By the end of Monday, "43 new bodies had been found, bringing the provisional corpse count to 51 soldiers", the army said in a statement.

Those fatalities were added to an earlier toll of eight soldiers, given by the army on Monday morning.

"Operations are continuing with an intensification of air actions that have made it possible to neutralise around 100 faceless myrmidons and destroy their equipment," the military added.

"This figure is in addition to the 60 or so faceless myrmidons neutralised since the beginning of the response," it added.

Burkina Faso is battling a jihadist insurgency that spread from neighbouring Mali in 2015.

The violence has led to more than 10,000 deaths, according to estimates by NGOs, and displaced some two million people.

Anger within the military at failures to stem the bloodshed led to two coups last year.

Attacks have mounted since the start of the year, claiming more than 100 lives in the last two weeks, according to an AFP count.

In its statement on Monday, the army called on the Burkinabe population "to unite around the defence and security forces in these difficult times".

In Friday's incident, a military patrol was the victim of a "complex" attack between Deou and Oursi in the Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
, bordering Mali and Niger.

"Intense fighting" ensued between members of the military unit that had been attacked and "an armed terrorist group," the army said.

Burkina Faso is one of the world's poorest nations and currently around 40 percent of the West African nation lies outside government control.

Last month its former colonial ruler La Belle France confirmed it would withdraw hundreds of troops stationed in Burkina Faso, after the junta ruling the Sahel country demanded the force's pull out within four weeks.

The request came days after Burkina's Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tembela declared Russia to be a "reasonable" choice of new partner in the anti-jihadist fight.

Nigerian Police Kill Three Suspected ESN Members, Lose Four Officers In Fresh Attacks In Anambra
[SAHARAREPORTERS] A combined unit of security personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command and Nigeria Army on Monday killed three suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement obtained by SaharaReporters, said that the combined security operatives also arrested two suspects, recovered three Kalashnikov rifles, one pump action gun, suspected stolen automobiles and other things.

According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred when button men attacked Awada Police Station in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State at about 2:20a.m with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

"In response to the attack, police operatives attached to Anambra State Command engaged the assailants jointly with troops from 302 Artillery Regiment of the Nigeria Army, in a gun duel and three members of the outlawed IPOB/ESN were fatally maimed while three Kalashnikov rifles and one Automatic Pump Action gun were recovered from them.

"Other items recovered from the assailants include a brown Lexus 330 with reg no. GWA 415BB ABJ, one unregistered KYMCO cycle of violence suspected to be stolen properties, charms and other incriminating items.

"During a mop-up operation by police/military operatives, two male suspects reasonably believed to have participated in the attack were apprehended.

"Regrettably, four police operatives paid the supreme price while a section of the station, one police patrol vehicle and three exhibit vehicles parked in the premises were set ablaze by petrol bombs thrown into the station by the assailants.

"Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory, Igor and Oleg were discussing what the quickest way might be to deal with the monster...

, amid an alarming rise in tribal feuds in the oil-rich province.

Tribal sources reported that festivities broke out between the button men of al-Farid and al-Yaslam tribes in al-Saeed district, which resulted in deaths and injuries on both sides.

According to the sources, the military and security forces in the area are observing the festivities without interfering.

As a result of the Saudi-led coalition feeding disputes in the occupied provinces, tribal Dire Revenge issues have recently returned to Shabwah in a worrisome manner.

Tribalists in Shabwah accused UAE-backed militias in the city of Ataq, the thriving provincial capital, of fomenting tribal conflicts among al-Awaleq tribes in order to undercut the influence of Sheikh Boubaker Farid, the director of al-Saeed district.

Large amounts of weapons and drugs being smuggled to Saudi forces in Yemeni city of Mocha
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Head of the National Team for Redeployment in Hodeidah province, Major General Ali Hamoud al-Mushki, warned on Monday of the flow of weapons and drugs to the Saudi-led coalition’s tools in Mocha city.

Major General al-Mushki confirmed, during his meeting today with the head of the United Nations

Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), General Michael Berry, and his team, that the flow of weapons and drugs to Mocha continues, and clearly, in addition to the continued coalition forces there will affect the maritime navigation.

"The movement of the coalition forces and the flow of weapons to them, as well as their undermining of maritime traffic, will make them a legitimate target in case of necessity," al-Mushki said. "We are trying to build confidence with the UN team, but we are surprised that it has rushed more than once to the other party that rejects peace."

Major General al-Mushki indicated that the United Nations did not provide anything to the Mine Action Center and did not provide any service for the citizens on the ground.

For his part, General Berry expressed his hope for assistance in order for security and stability to prevail and to address the mine problem.

India-Pakistan
Arrested ISIS Fighter is a Former Afghan Army Commando: Pakistan Police
[KhaamaPress] Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
police has announced that two ISIS fighters have been arrested during a special anti-terrorist search operation, and both suspects are Afghan nationals.

Pakistain’s Sahafat Daily reports that the accused suspects baring Afghan identities, one of whom was a commando and has experience fighting in the Afghan National Army.

Karachi police also said that during an anti-terrorist search operation, a number of Tehrik-e-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain (TTP) turbans have been arrested. The arrest was done following the terror attack on Police headquarters in Karachi which took place last week. The city’s security personnel are putting tremendous effort to find the hideouts of the bully boyz who launched the attack on the Karachi police headquarter on Friday.

Police officials claim that one of the attackers had recently entered Pakistain, possibly through illegal routes. The attacker belongs to the ’Tepu Gul’ branch of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain and has traveled to Afghanistan quite frequently.

Karachi police stated that the accused attackers have been arrested and thorough investigations are ongoing.

TTP issued a warning on Saturday, saying more attacks against law enforcement officials. This came after Friday’s attack on Karachi police headquarter in which four people were killed, and many other were maimed.

Terror activities and militancy have unprecedentedly increased in Pakistain over the past months. Since the outlawed TTP ended its unilateral ceasefire with the Pak government, the group has launched brutal attacks in major cities of Pakistain, mostly targeting coppers, army personnel, and Inter-Service Intelligence officials, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of innocent people.

Besides the security agencies of Pakistain have taken extra measures to crack down on TTP and other bad boy fighters lately, the brutal attacks continue across Pakistain.

‘Counterproductive:’ Swedish MEP slams Turkish demands for further NATO concessions
[Rudaw] A Swedish member of the European Parliament on Monday slammed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
’s foreign affairs minister for stating that more concessions are needed from Sweden in order to join NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
, labeling the remarks as "counterproductive."
Prob time for Sweden to take advantage of the overextended Turk.
Speaking to Rudaw’s Shahyan Tahseen, Swedish MEP Evin Incir said Ankara was holding both Sweden and Finland as "hostages" to gain leverage in the upcoming Ottoman Turkish elections.

In a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Ankara, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu said "Stockholm needs to do more" when asked whether Sweden’s ascension will be approved during the awaited NATO summit in Lithuania in July.

Incir criticized Cavusoglu’s remarks, adding that Turkey’s remarks are "counterproductive." She stressed that Turkey should understand the importance of Sweden joining NATO, describing it as a matter of safety and international law.

Blinken called for hastened action to be taken to include Sweden and Finland in the Nordic alliance.

Sweden and Finland’s bids to join NATO have been stalled by Turkey’s refusal to ratify them, accusing both countries, particularly Stockholm, of supporting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

"Finland and Sweden have already taken concrete steps to fulfill the commitments that they met under the trilateral memorandum of agreement that they signed," said Blinken.

Blinken stressed that the issue of joining NATO was not a bilateral one with Turkey.

Sweden and Finland submitted their applications to join NATO in May following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but their bid was hindered by Ankara. Joining the alliance requires approval from all member states.

In January, Turkey's President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
said that his country could ratify Helsinki's bid, but not Stockholm's.

Turkey is also interested in purchasing F-16 fighter jets from the US, a deal met with objections from the US congress unless Turkey green lights both countries' accession to the North Atlantic pact. Cavusoglu added that the matters are separate cases and should not be mixed.

Turkey has voiced its frustration at both issues being increasingly associated together. Ibrahim Kalin, Erdogan's foreign policy adviser, said last month that he hopes the F-16 case does not become a "hostage" to Sweden and Finland's membership in NATO.

IDF foils attempt to smuggle 4 handguns from Lebanon, arrests suspect

According to the Israel Defense Forces, soldiers monitoring surveillance cameras spotted a suspect hurling a package over the border to another suspect, near the Bedouin village of Aramsha.

The man on the Israeli side of the fence has been arrested by IDF troops dispatched to the scene, and the four handguns in his possession, worth an estimated NIS 150,000 ($42,000), are seized, the IDF says.

The suspect and the weapons are handed over to police for further investigation.

IDF: Man arrested after crossing from Syria involved in Hezbollah intel-gathering
[IsraelTimes] Military says investigation of Ghaith Abdullah uncovers other members of so-called ’Golan File,’ who are planning attacks against Israel
“He’s singing like a bird, Sgt. Avi. How he manages such beautiful three-part harmonies with only one mouth is beyond me.”
The Israel Defense Forces on Monday said a suspect who were tossed into the calaboose by troops after crossing the border from Syria into the Golan Heights last month was involved in efforts by the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group to gather intelligence on Israel for future attacks.

Ghaith Abdullah, according to the IDF, was part of the so-called "Golan File." He was detained alongside another man, who was apparently uninvolved in the Hezbollah efforts.
“I’m the native guide, Effendi, ‘cause I can see the border from my house.”
The military said Abdullah and the second man were detained by soldiers of the elite Egoz unit on the eastern side of the border fence — built in Israeli territory — near the Syrian village of al-Asbah on January 27, following "substantial intelligence efforts."

"During the questioning, Ghaith [Abdullah] provided information regarding additional terrorist operatives that promote terrorist activities in the area of the border," the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF said Abdullah was a squad commander involved in advancing attacks against Israel. The military named another operative in his squad, the leader of another squad, and a Syrian man involved in recruiting new members.

"The IDF will not tolerate any terrorist activity from southern Syria and will maintain the illusory sovereignty of the State of Israel," it added.

The Hezbollah plot — known within the organization as the Golan File — mostly involves collecting intelligence and recruiting operatives, but also has weaponry in its possession, namely explosives, light arms, machine guns, and antitank missiles, according to the IDF.
All the usual stuff, in fact. But it’s way more impressive when it has a code name.
While Israel’s military does not as a rule comment on specific strikes in Syria, it has admitted to conducting hundreds of sorties against Iran-backed groups attempting to gain a foothold in the country, over the last decade.

Many of the strikes have targeted the Golan File and other Iranian efforts to entrench themselves on Israel’s border with Syria, including one such strike in December.

The IDF says it also attacks arms shipments believed to be bound for those groups, chief among them Lebanon Hezbollahstan

Police arrest 5 settlers over clash with IDF soldiers, torching of Palestinian car
[IsraelTimes] Four suspects are residents of hardline Yizhar settlement; residents accuse military of using unnecessary force, claim men are innocent

Israel Police detained five Jewish West Bank settler activist muppets Monday on suspicion of involvement in the torching of a Paleostinian car and a subsequent violent mostly peaceful clash between settlers and IDF troops.

Two of the suspects were arrested and the other three were detained for questioning, police said in a statement. One of the suspects is believed to be the culprit in setting alight the vehicle near the Paleostinian village of Urif last week.

Soldiers involved in the clash had filed a police complaint against settlers they accused of assaulting them.

At least four of the suspects were men in their thirties from the hardline settlement of Yitzhar.

Local residents said dozens of police swooped in for an early morning raid and accused officers of brutal treatment of the suspects.

Residents also claimed that the arrest raid was only carried out to justify IDF accusations against the settlers and said the men were not involved in the torching or the clash.

Last week, the IDF said troops were physically and verbally assaulted by a group of settlers near Urif. The military said the incident began Wednesday after troops spotted a Paleostinian-owned car being set on fire in the area, close to Yitzhar, and began a pursuit after the suspects. An Israeli-owned vehicle in the area "drove wildly toward the forces" and Israeli civilians blocked IDF vehicles who were chasing the arson suspects, pushed the soldiers, and tried to break into a military vehicle, the IDF said.

The suspects were not immediately detained.

Footage from the incident showed a group of settlers confronting the soldiers in the area. A complaint was filed with police, which launched an investigation into the incident. No soldiers were reported to have been maimed.

Footage published by Paleostinian media on Wednesday showed the burning car allegedly targeted by settlers.

Incidents of vandalism against Paleostinians and Israeli security forces are commonly referred to as "price tag" attacks, with perpetrators claiming they are retaliation for Paleostinian violence or government policies seen as hostile to the settler movement.

Arrests of perpetrators are rare and rights groups lament that convictions are even more unusual, with the majority of charges in such cases being dropped.

Reports of nationalist crimes against Paleostinians in the West Bank surged in recent weeks, following several terror attacks.

Last year, there were several incidents of settlers assaulting soldiers who tried to prevent them from attacking Paleostinians.

The recent incident came at a time of rising violence in the region, with the Israeli military pressing on with an anti-terror offensive in the West Bank which has netted more than 2,500 arrests, left 171 Paleostinians dead in 2022, and another 48 since the beginning of the year.

Many of them were killed while carrying out attacks or during festivities with security forces, though some were uninvolved civilians.

The operation was launched to deal with a series of attacks that left 31 people in Israel dead in 2022, and 11 more since the beginning of this year

ISIS Claims Attack Against SDF Fighter In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor
[NPASyria] On Sunday, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), through close media outlets, grabbed credit for targeting a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency said in a statement that two days earlier the group’s forces of Evil shot at an SDF fighter in the town of Abu Hamam, 80 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor.

The attack caused the SDF fighter to sustain wounds, and he was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

A local source from the town told North Press that Ahmad al-Sodat was shot in the middle of al-Qahawi market in Abu Hamam, stressing that he trades in food products and has not joined any military or political parties.

Two civilians were maimed on two separate incidents on Feb. 17 by unknown button men, though likely affiliated with the ISIS, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

127th Russian-Turkish Joint Patrol Launched In Syria’s Kobani
[NPASyria] The Russian Military Police (MP) conducted on Monday a joint patrol with the Ottoman Turkish forces in the eastern countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.

This is the 127th patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement in northeast Syria.

In October 2019, following the so-called Ottoman Turkish military operation "Peace Spring" in areas of northeast Syria which resulted in the occupation of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) north of Hasakah, the Ottoman Turkish president signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The ceasefire agreements stipulating halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Ottoman Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrols with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.

The patrol, which consisted of seven Russian and Ottoman Turkish military vehicles set off from the village of Gharib, 15 km east of Kobani.

The patrol passed the villages of Karbanaf, Kosk, Alishar, Jom Ali, Kortek, Kobek, Satan, Teri, Tel Hajib, Qabajeq Saghir, Telk, Boztepe, Qaramogh and Jishan, reaching the village of Kharabisan Fouqani.

The Ottoman Turkish military vehicles returned to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
through the gate near Gharib, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin, south of Kobani.

On Feb. 13, the Russian and Ottoman Turkish forces conducted the 126th joint patrol in the western countryside of Kobani.
