West Point cadets overdosed from fentanyl-laced cocaine in Florida: Report
[Washington Examiner] A group of West Point cadets allegedly overdosed on fentanyl-laced cocaine while in Florida on spring break.

Wilton Manors Police and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials responded to a call Thursday evening, and seven people were hospitalized, according to WSVN, a local news outlet. The students were West Point cadets on the football team, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

A bit more and a few fotos at the NYP.

#5  ...Sadly, the Black Knights are every bit as dirty as any NCAA team, and have been for a long time. Annapolis too, and the only reason the USAFA Falcons aren't that bad is that they've never been able to recruit the talent.

The academies need to 86 their football programs. They do nothing but bring in more questionable cadets than good and turn out officers who have a difficult time with concepts like 'honor' and 'duty'.

Suspect nabbed in hammer attack on Asian man has 47 prior busts
[NYPOST] The suspect busted in the hate-fueled hammer attack on an Asian man in a Manhattan train station is a known "transit offender" with nearly four dozen prior arrests, cops and police sources said Thursday.

Christian Jeffers, 48, who identifies as a woman, was picked up shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday — about 17 hours after she allegedly attacked the 29-year-old male victim at the 14th Street 1/2/3 station Tuesday, police said.

Jeffers was charged with assault, aggravated harassment and menacing — all as hate crimes — and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said. Her arraignment was pending Thursday.

Prior to that bust, she was arrested 47 times, dating back to 2007, cops said.

She is a known "transit offender," police sources said.

'It's hilarious': Asst. principal stunned after he's booted for reading 'I Need a New Butt' to second-graders
[BIZPACREVIEW] Mississippi elementary school assistant principal Toby Price was shown the door last week after, in what the superintendent called "a lack of professionalism," he read a second-grade class a book called "I Need a New Butt."
The kiddies are in second grade. Shouldn't they be reading it themselves?
The book, written by Dawn McMillan, is a "silly" story about a young boy’s quest to find a new butt because his "has a huge crack."

"Will he choose an armor-plated butt?" the Amazon description asks. "A rocket butt? Find out in this quirky tale of a tail, which features hilarious rhymes and delightful illustrations."

In his termination letter, the superintendent accused Price of showing "impaired judgement" when he chose the "inappropriate" book, citing its use of words such as "butt" and "fart" and a cartoon illustration of a kid’s backside, according to NBC affiliate WLBT of Jackson.

Price only read to the students because he was told to after the principal failed to show up to a Zoom class.

"I text my boss," Price told NBC. "She said, ’Well go ahead and read.’ I wasn’t planning on reading, but I went ahead and grabbed one of my books that I had nearby. One of my favorites. I read it: ’I Need a New Butt!'"

"It’s hilarious," Price added.

Price, who served for three years as assistant principal at Gary Road Elementary School in Byram, MS, said he’s read the book to students at other schools without incident.

"I didn’t think twice about reading it because I’ve never had an issue with it before," Price told WLBT. "There are other books that have much more suggestive material that are much more widely accepted.”

Libyan Human Rights Commission Warns of Military Escalation in Tripoli

On Thursday, Libyan National Commission for Human Rights (NCHRL), expressed its deep concern about the military movements and the armed mobilization around Tripoli.

In a statement, the Commission warned of an escalation of violence and armed clashes, “which constitute a real threat to the country’s security, and the safety of civilians in the Libyan capital.”

It also called on all parties and armed entities to exercise restraint, and avoid further violence and fighting.

The NCHRL warned against, “all schemes seeking to drag the country into a new civil war and jeopardize Libya’s national, social, and geographical unity.”

As well as calling on the UN’s International Sanctions Committee to implement Resolutions No. 2174 and 2259. These are regarding the prosecution of anyone planning to or committing acts that violate international law, or human rights law in Libya.

Earlier today, the United Nations Support Mission to Libya (UNSMIL) voiced its concern over reports about the tense situation in Tripoli.

In a statement, UNSMIL stressed the importance of preserving calm and stability in the country

It also called on all Libyan parties to refrain from any action that could lead to clashes, and urged them to cooperate with the Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General on Libya (SASG), Stephanie Williams. This is to find a negotiated way out of the current political stalemate.

Libya faces a political crisis after the Parliament swore in a new government, last week. The incumbent administration has refused to cede power, amid the fallout from a failed attempt to hold national elections in December.

Each rival government has support among the armed factions based in Tripoli. The Parliament-backed Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha has said he intends to take over in the capital this week, raising fears of clashes.

Arabia
Magic Kingdom's 'chop-chop square' begins third shift production
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia on Saturday executed 81 people convicted of crimes ranging from killings to belonging to militant groups, the largest known mass execution carried out in the kingdom in its modern history.

The number of executed surpassed even the toll of a January 1980 mass execution for the 63 militants convicted of seizing the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979, the worst-ever militant attack to target the kingdom and Islam’s holiest site.

It wasn’t clear why the kingdom choose Saturday for the executions, though they came as much of the world’s attention remained focused on Russia’s war on Ukraine — and as the U.S. hopes to lower record-high gasoline prices as energy prices spike worldwide. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reportedly plans a trip to Saudi Arabia next week over oil prices as well.

The number of death penalty cases being carried out in Saudi Arabia had dropped during the coronavirus pandemic, though the kingdom continued to behead convicts under King Salman and his assertive son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency announced Saturday’s executions, saying they included those "convicted of various crimes, including the murdering of innocent men, women and children."

Croatia criticizes NATO after crash of Russian-made drone
[ABC] ZAGREB, Croatia -- Croatian officials criticized NATO on Saturday for what they said was its slow reaction to a military drone that apparently flew all the way from the Ukrainian war zone over several NATO member states, before crashing in an urban zone of the Croatian capital.

The Russian-made unmanned aircraft crossed Romania and Hungary before entering Croatia and slamming late Thursday into a field near a student dormitory. Some 40 parked cars were damaged but no one was injured after a loud blast.

NATO said the alliance’s integrated air and missile defense had tracked the object’s flight path. But the Croatian prime minister said the country’s authorities were not informed and that NATO reacted only after question were posed by journalists.

"We cannot tolerate this situation, nor should it have ever happened," Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said while visiting the crash site.

"This was a pure and clear threat and both NATO and the EU should have reacted," he said. "We will work to raise the readiness not only of us but of others as well. "

Plenkovic said a Soviet-era Tu-141 "Strizh" reconnaissance drone flew for over 40 minutes over Hungary and six to seven minutes over Croatia before crashing. Earlier, the Romanian defense authorities said the flying object was in Romania’s airspace for only three minutes after crossing from Ukraine, making it hard to intercept.

Invasion of the body snatchers: Russia is 'stockpiling Ukrainian soldiers' corpses' to use as evidence in 'false flag' Chernobyl nuclear 'terror attack', Kyiv claims as Putin's invaders close in on the capital
[dailymail] Russia is stockpiling the bodies of dead Ukrainians to stage a false flag attack at Chernobyl, releasing radioactive waste in a 'man-made catastrophe' that would amount to a 'terrorist attack', Ukraine has warned.

Vladimir Putin has ordered his troops to release radioactive waste at the nuclear site which he plans to blame on Ukrainian 'saboteurs' in order to justify further escalating his barbaric war against the ex-Soviet country, officials fear.

Kyiv's Military Intelligence Directorate said Kremlin forces have been collecting 'fake evidence' for the planned operation at the power plant which was captured by Russian forces on the first day of the invasion, and has since been manned by staffers at gunpoint.

They said in a statement: 'Russian car refrigerators collecting the bodies of dead Ukrainian defenders were spotted near the Antonov airport in Hostomel. There is a possibility that they will be presented as killed saboteurs in the Chernobyl zone.'

The disaster - which would almost certainly cause radioactive fallout to land on Russia - would be used to justify the use of further force against Ukraine and 'blackmail the global community' for sanctioning Russia and providing weapons to Ukraine.

But there are fears there could also be an accidental leak at the nuclear site because the Russians manning it have 'no clue about nuclear security protocols', the daughter of a overnight staffer warned.

Natalia Ruemmele said technicians who usually work 12 hour shifts have been maintaining the nuclear plant at gunpoint for more than two weeks.

It comes as shelling has continued overnight across the country with Mariupol's death toll rising to 1,600, as Russians inch towards Kyiv which is preparing for a brutal onslaught that could be Russia's new Stalingrad, a Ukrainian MP said.

Sviatoslav Yurah, Ukraine's youngest ever MP and a former adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme, referring to the bloody turning point of WWII: 'It's a massive town of millions and if the Russians try to come in they will have quite a fight on their hands - this will be their Stalingrad if they want to make it so.'

Air raid sirens continue to sound today in several cities, including the capital, Odessa, Dnipro and Kharkiv, as Ukraine expects a new wave of attacks after a slowdown in the offensive in recent days.

The Ukrainian military believes Russia is trying to take out Kyiv's defences to the north and west, where suburbs including Irpin and Bucha have already endured days of heavy bombardment.

Russian armoured vehicles are still slowly advancing on the capital's northeast after being stalled for days, and a military airfield south of the city in Vasylkiv has been hit by missiles, destroying the runway, a fuel depot and an ammunitions store.

The bulk of Russian ground forces are now around 15 miles from the city centre but elements of the large column have dispersed in a bid to encircle the city.

In besieged Mariupol, which has endured two weeks without food, power or water amid a brutal blockade, is facing continuing shelling as a mosque housing 80 civilians including children was targeted today, and barrages have thwarted attempts to bring supplies to the strategic port city.

A cancer hospital in Mykolaiv was also hit with hundreds of patients inside undergoing chemotherapy but no one was killed in the latest monstrous attack which comes after a maternity hospital and care home were destroyed.

A ceasefire should be in place today to allow trapped residents in Mariupol, Kyiv and Sumy evacuate through humanitarian corridors, but Russia has repeatedly failed to observe them, as Ukrainian officials pleaded with Russian forces to allow the citizens to escape.Meanwhile Zelensky slammed Moscow for 'torturing' civilians who have spent more than a week without vital supplies in besieged cities.

The Ukrainian premier accused Russia of refusing to allow evacuees to escape the city of Mariupol, which has been cut off from food, water and electricity, and defiantly insisted vital supplies would be delivered there tomorrow despite it being surrounded by Russian troops.

The Kremlin-owned Tass news agency painted a damning picture for those stuck in the city after quoting Russian Colonel Mikhail Mizintsev as saying all bridge into the city were destroyed and roads had been laid with mines.

'Russian troops have not let our aid into the city and continue to torture our people... tomorrow [Saturday] we will try again, try again to send food, water and medicine' Zelenskiy said.

Ukrainian officials revealed on Friday that Russian soldiers had kidnapped Melitopol's mayor Ivan Fedorov from the city's crisis centre after he 'refused to co-operate with the enemy'.

'This is obviously a sign of weakness of the invaders... They have moved to a new stage of terror in which they are trying to physically eliminate representatives of legitimate local Ukrainian authorities,' President Zelensky said.

'The capture of the mayor of Melitopol is therefore a crime, not only against a particular person, against a particular community, and not only against Ukraine. It is a crime against democracy itself... The acts of the Russian invaders will be regarded like those of Islamic State terrorists,' he said.

In hellish scenes not witnessed on the continent since the Second World War, residents have resorted to fighting one another for food and bodies are buried in mass graves as more than 1,500 people have now died in the city.

Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, tweeted: 'Besieged Mariupol is now the worst humanitarian catastrophe on the planet. 1,582 dead civilians in 12 days, even buried in mass graves. Unable to defeat the Ukrainian army, Putin bombs the unarmed, blocks humanitarian aid. We need planes to stop Russian war crimes!'

A total of 7,144 people escaped four Ukrainian cities on Friday using humanitarian corridors, President Zelensky said in a televised address, a sharply lower number than managed to leave in each of the two previous days.

It comes as Putin struck areas in central and western Ukraine, some hundreds of miles from the capital Kyiv and huge explosions illuminated the night sky in Dnipro and Lutsk as residents experienced Russian artillery attacks for the first time.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a triple strike hit at first light, said to be targeting an airfield on the edge of the city. Indiscriminate shelling at 4am UK time yesterday left tower blocks and a factory ablaze in Dnipro, killing a security guard.

Meanwhile, the 40-mile convoy of tanks, troops and artillery that had been bearing down on Kyiv in recent days is understood to have moved into strategic firing positions ahead of an all-out assault on the capital.

Fears have been mounting that Moscow could attempt a repeat at the barbaric bombing used on besieged cities such as Mariupol, with Russian troops now just nine miles from the city.

Satellite images showed howitzer weaponry and suspected rocket launchers being readied, prompting remaining Kyiv residents to take up arms and erect barricades. Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned Russia the city was a fortress.

It comes as military experts say they are baffled by the ineptitude of the tactics displayed by Russia's armies after drone footage yesterday showed a column of tanks getting picked off one-by-one in an ambush carried out by Ukraine's forces.

Analysts have said Russian tank commanders allowed the Ukrainians to ambush their unit by driving down the middle of a main road leading into Kyiv - and straight into a death trap. By multiple counts, President Vladimir Putin's forces have lost more tanks than are operational in the entire German army.As there were no Ukrainian military facilities in the Dnipro district, the local prosecutor opened an investigation into a possible war crime.

Residents and shop owners worked thoughout the day to clear up broken glass and board up the open window frames as snow fell and temperatures dipped below zero.

Svetlana Kalenecheko, who works in a clinic next door to the factory in Dnipro, said: 'We heard a loud explosion and the windows broke and bits of the ceiling started to fall.'

Dnipro had been considered a safe haven. Consequently, it has become a hub for the coordination of humanitarian aid and for those fleeing more severe fighting.

It was unclear last night what Putin thought he would achieve by bombing the city, as no invading troops were on the ground there yesterday. Other soft targets were hit, perhaps with the intention of spreading fear in areas previously unaffected by the invasion.

A psychiatric hospital in the eastern town of Izyum was bombed, causing 73 patients to be evacuated. Governor Oleg Sinegubov said the number of casualties was being established. He described it as 'a brutal attack on civilians'.

A care home for the disabled was also struck in the village of Oskil, eastern Ukraine. There were 330 people inside including ten who required wheelchairs and 50 with reduced mobility — but there were no casualties.

Ukrainian airstrips were targeted yesterday at Lutsk and Ivano-Frankivsk, which are 260 miles and 380 miles respectively from Kyiv.

Last night it was considered unlikely that attacks on airstrips so far from the capital city would provide Russian forces with a much-needed impetus.

Western officials said the invaders were making 'minimal ground' because of logistical issues and 'strong Ukrainian resistance'.

One said: 'Because of the challenges... they are reassessing how to prosecute military operations. Russia made assumptions [before the invasion] which led to tactical errors about moving forces and protecting forces.'

The failure to establish control of Kyiv could force Putin to negotiate a settlement sooner than expected.

Yesterday he said there had been 'positive changes' from the talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials as he welcomed Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko to Moscow.

It comes as Kyiv volunteers were seen digging trenches in the city outskirts to try to stop Russian troops.

Bracing themselves for a bloody fight, others joined soldiers in erecting makeshift barricades with old tyres and sandbags.

Around half of the city's 3.5million residents are thought to have fled but Mr Klitschko and his brother Wladimir — both former heavyweight boxing champions — said many were returning to defend their country.

Some Russian units are now just nine miles from the city.

There are fears they will attempt to repeat the barbaric tactics used on other cities including Mariupol, which is surrounded — with those inside suffering starvation and dehydration. Russian forces even bombed a maternity hospital there this week.

A convoy advancing through Brovary, a north-eastern suburb of Kyiv, was forced to retreat on Thursday after it became stuck in the town's streets and was ambushed by Ukrainian troops with anti-tank missiles.

At least two vehicles including a tank were destroyed and a Russian commanding officer, said to be Colonel Andrei Zakharov, an associate of Vladimir Putin, was killed.

Despite the setback, Russian forces continued to advance yesterday with armoured units seen in towns near the Antonov airport north of the city as well as in nearby forests.

The Ministry of Defence warned that Russia was looking to 'reset and reposture' its forces for 'renewed offensive activity'. But officials noted the troops had made limited progress.

'Logistical issues that have hampered the Russian advance persist, as does strong Ukrainian resistance,' a spokesman said. 'Russia is [probably] seeking to reset and reposture its forces for renewed offensive activity in the coming days. This will probably include operations against the capital Kyiv.'

Troops are approaching the capital from the north west and the east, engaging in firefights with Ukrainian soldiers in Kukhari — 56 miles from Kyiv — and Demydiv, 25 miles away.

The convoy initially stalled as it approached Kyiv amid reports of fuel and food shortages as well as resistance from the Ukrainian forces.

Speaking yesterday, Mayor Klitschko said his city had enough supplies to last a couple of weeks and had access to electricity, heating and gas.

Wladimir, who has enlisted in Ukraine's reserve army, said citizens were prepared to engage in battle. 'There are a lot of refugees who left west, but a lot are coming back,' he added.

'A lot of men and women ... coming back to defend the country. This is our home. We are staying here. We are not going anywhere.'

At least 564 civilians have died in Ukraine since Russia invaded on February 24. Ukraine's human rights ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova said at least 78 children were among the dead.

Defence specialists have repeatedly been stunned by Russia's 'bizarre' military tactics.

Franz-Stefan Gady - an analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies - said the 'fight shows the danger of not securing urban terrain with adequate infantry plus recon. assets when main elements of a force pass through urban terrain ideally suitable for ambushes.'

Rob Lee, a Senior Fellow and military expert at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, commented on the ambush, saying the Russian armoured force displayed 'very poor tactics'.

The Russian column was 'on an obvious avenue of approach, and they still decided to bunch up like this, leaving them more vulnerable to indirect fire,' he wrote on Twitter, while sharing drone footage of the strikes.

Of the Russian military activities in Ukraine, a former British army commander told The Daily Telegraph today: 'This is not the Russian army we trained to fight'.

Meanwhile, analysis by the Austrian military's R&D department demonstrated the column was part of a larger Russian Battle Tactical Group (BTG).

The analysis highlighted different companies within the BTG seen in the drone footage, as it came under Ukrainian heavy artillery guided by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The full scale of losses suffered by Putin's armies are unknown, but Ukraine has claimed it has destroyed over 12,000 troops, 350 tanks, 80 helicopters, 125 artillery units, 1,150 personnel carriers and almost 60 planes.

Figures based on visual confirmations by military tracking website Oryx suggest over 1,000 Russian vehicles have been destroyed, damaged, abandoned or captured in the war.

According to Oryx's figures as of March 11, Russia has lost 1,034 vehicles, of which 424 were destroyed, 13 were damaged, 159 were abandoned by Russian troops and 438 were captured by Ukraine's forces.

Is THIS proof that the Ghost of Kyiv is real? Ukraine's military posts image of pilot 'who has shot down 10 Russian jets during war' warning: 'Hello occupiers, I'm coming for your soul!'
A mysterious Ukrainian pilot who has shot down up to ten Russian jets had been thought to be a myth.

But now the general staff of the Ukrainian armed forces have released an image of the so-called Ghost of Kyiv, alongside his threat: 'Hello occupier, I'm coming for your soul!'.

The image simply shows a figure in the cockpit of an MiG-29 fighter jet, with his face hidden behind a black visor and oxygen mask.

The Ghost is fast becoming a symbol of resistance against the massive, but stalled, invasion.

While there is some discrepancy between figures detailing visually confirmed Russian vehicle losses released by Oryx and those released by Ukraine's defence officials, both paint a grim picture for Moscow's armies.

Oryx says its figures are based on 'photo or videographic evidence. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here.'

Tobias Schneider, a research fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin, said Russian losses visually confirmed by Oryx 'now amount to approximately one Bundeswehr' - the entire German army.

According to figures released by Germany, the country currently has 159 operational tanks in its entire military.

The drone footage posted online on Thursday captured the 'Battle of Brovary', named after the north-eastern Kyiv suburb in which it took place.

It showed explosions around the Russian tanks as they passed through the village of Skybyn, releasing plumes of black and grey smoke into the air, with suburban houses seen on either side of the road.

The column was shown in the footage driving down a main road into the Brovary suburb in a long line when it came under fire from artillery.

Explosion were seen both on the road and in the fields in the distance.

Two tanks were shown pulled up on the side of the road, while others further into the suburb were shown bunched together in a traffic jam, as artillery fire began to rain down from above.

Amongst the tanks, Russian troops can be seen frantically running between the vehicles, which start to turn around to escape the death trap.

Yesterday smouldering shells of Moscow's machinery sat abandoned by the road, after the survivors of the attack performed desperate U-turns to flee the deadly corridor and retreated back up the road.

In video released by Ukraine's military, a Russian soldier could be heard saying: 'Commander, the commander's dead!'. The second voice asked for the message to be repeated — to which the first voice shouted: 'He's dead! The commander's dead!'.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence named the dead Russian commander as Colonel Andrei Zakharov, of the 6th Tank Regiment of the 90th Tank Division, whom its statement describes as having been 'liquidated'.

In 2016, he was awarded the Order of Courage by Vladimir Putin, and the two stood shoulder-to-shoulder in photographs.

Zakharov's death, which could not immediately be verified, is another blow for Putin, as it follows those of Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, chief of staff of Russia's 41st Army, reportedly killed in fighting in Kharkiv on Monday, and Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky, the 41st Army's deputy commander, who perished early in the invasion.

'Medieval horrors' of Mariupol siege: Death toll passes 1,500 as deputy mayor says besieged Ukrainian port city is 'totally destroyed' by Russian shelling in hellish scenes

The crisis in Mariupol deepened yet further last night as the death toll passed 1,500 and the deputy mayor claimed his besieged city had been 'totally destroyed'.

In hellish scenes not witnessed on European soil since the Second World War, residents have resorted to fighting one another for food while bodies are being buried in trenches before they pile high in the streets.

With Russia laying ruthless siege to the city, thousands of its inhabitants remained without food, water, electricity or heat as relentless shelling continued to blast shops and residential apartments.

Such is their desperation, many trapped residents have resorted to looting to provide for their families.Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, tweeted: 'Besieged Mariupol is now the worst humanitarian catastrophe on the planet. 1,582 dead civilians in 12 days, even buried in mass graves. Unable to defeat the Ukrainian army, Putin bombs the unarmed, blocks humanitarian aid. We need planes to stop Russian war crimes!'

With temperatures dropping to -9C (15.8F), those who did not manage to escape before Russian troops encircled the perimeter run the risk of dying from thirst, starvation and the cold.

Mariupol has been a Russian target because of its port and strategic location on the Sea of Azov.

Last night all bridges and approaches to the city, in southern Ukraine, had been surrounded or destroyed.Eight trucks carrying humanitarian aid poised to enter are thought to have been stopped.

Stephen Cornish, from medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, said: 'Sieges are a medieval practice that have been outlawed by the modern rules of war for good reason.'

Sergei Orlov, Mariupol's deputy mayor, said there was 'no way out.' He told Irish broadcaster RTE: 'Russian troops do not allow us to leave our cities. We have no utilities, no electricity, no sanitary system.

'Without water we had the awful [situation] when a child died of dehydration. So people collect snow to melt it to water.

The city is totally destroyed by artillery and... aircraft bombing.' Mr Orlov said 50,000 children including 3,000 babies and toddlers remain in Mariupol.

He estimated that about 100,000 of its 450,000 citizens had managed to flee before the siege. He added: 'Unfortunately, we have no opportunity to bury [the dead] in private graves. That's why yesterday we buried 47 people in a mass grave.'

#1  Remember back when this was all getting teed up, and I made a joke about deploying a tik-tok video?

Yeah.

Russian car refrigerators collecting the bodies of dead Ukrainian defenders...

Hold up; these the refrigerator cars needed because all the dead Covids? I know its far too beneath the DM to hype a situation for their own advantage, so just curious.

#3  It comes as military experts say they are baffled by the ineptitude of the tactics displayed by Russia's armies after drone footage yesterday showed a column of tanks getting picked off one-by-one in an ambush carried out by Ukraine's forces.

Analysts have said Russian tank commanders allowed the Ukrainians to ambush their unit by driving down the middle of a main road leading into Kyiv - and straight into a death trap. By multiple counts, President Vladimir Putin's forces have lost more tanks than are operational in the entire German army.

Ouch.

#1  It was interesting note that in the '80s the Soviet army had no real NCO corps. Officers were doing what American NCOs did. So, I suppose these guys were doing things that battalion commanders would do in our forces. That or it may be Commissar kills, 'pour encourager les autres' which is also an old hold over from the Soviet army.

#2  Like that scene in "Enemy At The Gates" where Bob Hoskins invites an unsuccessful commander to "skip the paperwork"?

Or some combination of:
1- Senior officers going to the front because their comms are so fouled up that they're basically relying on word of mouth
2- Ukrainian penetration of of Russian "rear" areas.
3- The Ukrainians having very very good intel on who's where.

Russia Seeks to Seize Assets Left Behind by Foreign Companies Leaving
[Breitbart] Russia’s Economic Development Ministry prepared draft legislation that would potentially allow the Kremlin to nationalize the assets of foreign-owned businesses that leave the country, Russia’s Interfax News Agency reported Thursday.

The bill would "allow the state corporation VEB.RF and the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) to quickly take control of such companies, and then ’repack’ the business into a new organization and sell it at public auction. If there are no applicants, then the state will act as a buyer," according to Interfax.

"VEB.RF" refers to Vnesheconombank, which is a Russian state-owned development corporation.

Russia’s Economic Development Ministry drafted the legislation in response to a mass exodus of foreign businesses from Russia since February 24, when Moscow launched its latest military operation in Ukraine. United Russia, the nation’s ruling party, described the bill as "the first step towards the nationalization of the property of foreign organizations leaving the Russian market," according to the U.S. government-owned website currenttime.tv.

"United Russia added in a statement on the Telegram messaging app that the [Russian] commission on lawmaking activity had supported a bill allowing for firms more than 25% owned by foreigners from ’unfriendly states’ to be put into external administration," Reuters relayed on March 10.

#1  09:16 The Russian military dispersed a huge convoy of equipment in the Kiev region , the BBC reports, citing satellite images.

This seems significant:
They are able to move now.
Better hiding places.
Getting ready to go to work on investing Kiev? It is probably the right time in the negotiations to remind everyone what the stakes are.

00:05 Zelensky: "... No chemical or any other weapons of mass destruction have been developed on my land. "

I keep seeing the phrase "no chemical weapons". Sounds like a lawyerly denial, given the news about bio weapon labs. Which don't exist/Which *do* exist/Which are research facilities/Which belong to someone else.

#2  Doesn't dispersed into the forests mean that they are no longer available for military purposes. What will the crews of the vehicles do for food and fuel?
The way is now clear to create another such debacle. A blockage along the way caused succeeding vehicles to pile up behind them.

The insidious provocation was carried out in order to involve the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus in a military operation against Ukraine on the side of Russia.

No offensive by the occupiers was noted in the Polissya direction. The enemy continues to hold the border near the settlements of Poliske, Kukhari, Borodyanka, Andriyivka, Motyzhyn, Gorenychi, Bucha, and Demidov. Conducted measures to restore combat capability and regrouped troops.

In the South Bug direction, the enemy holds the previously captured frontier.

Some units of the enemy were established in the areas of n.p. Stepove, Scherbaki and continue to perform tasks in the area of n.p. Walk the Field.

Regarding the activities of the enemy's air component. Strategic bombers Tu-95MS PKS RF used cruise missiles air-based facilities on the territory of Ukraine in the cities of Lutsk, Dnieper, Ivano-Frankivsk. At least six Tu-95MS aircraft were involved in the missile strike, which launched at least 10 cruise missiles.

The enemy is trying unsuccessfully to restore the logistics of its units.

Anti-Russian rallies are taking place in the temporarily occupied territories.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, give a decent rebuff, inflicting losses on the Russian invaders in manpower and military equipment, which significantly reduces their will to further confrontation.

On the day of March 11, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out up to ten raids on columns of enemy equipment, during which they delivered powerful missile and bomb strikes on armored vehicles. This was reported in the command of the Armed Forces.

In addition, fighter aviation on Su-27 and MiG-29 aircraft, with a significant numerical advantage of the enemy, conducted up to ten air battles in several directions and returned without losses. Nine medium- and short-range air-to-air missiles were fired at Russian aircraft.

There is also information about the defeat of five enemy air targets from the Buk-M1 and S-300 anti-aircraft missile units: the Forpost unmanned aerial vehicle and four occupying helicopters. And in the Chernihiv region, a Su-34 fighter-bomber of the Russian army was destroyed by means of air defense.

"This day will be remembered for the daring provocation of the Russian fascists, who bombarded peaceful Belarusian villages from the territory of Ukraine with the aim of blaming the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for this. The goal is obvious!", summed up the command.

As reported, Ukrainian defenders destroyed the control center of the occupiers near the village of Makarov in the Kiev region with aviation forces.

The criminal was no longer found at the apartment, but they found personal belongings, documents, uniforms, weapons, including improvised explosive devices.

The tense situation persists in Volnovakha: the city has already come under the control of the defenders of the republic, but groups of militants who have refused to lay down their arms continue to hide in it.

13:03 Many residents of the Middle East are not indifferent to what is happening in the Donbass. Thus, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that about 16,000 volunteers expressed their desire to help the LPR and DPR liberate and protect their land.

12:32 Although Volnovakha has already come under the control of the People's Militia of the DPR, fighting continues in the village. Groups of militants who refused to lay down their arms still settled in it. Now the defenders of the republic are cleaning the city from them.

11:46 Residents of Gorlovka report shelling by Ukrainian Nazis. The civilian population is urged to hide in a shelter.

11:25 Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to transfer all captured MANPADS, ATGMs, tanks, small arms and Javelins to the forces of the People's Militia of the LPR and DPR. The President supported this idea.

11:06 The territories of the LPR liberated from the Ukrainian Nazis are returning to normal life and their historical names. The head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, ordered that all streets and other town-planning objects be returned to the names that they bore before the war in Donbass.

The militants opened fire on the Stakhanov Mechanical Repair Plant, which was damaged. The population of all settlements is provided with humanitarian and medical assistance.

The Nazis used 122 mm MLRS, 122 mm artillery, 120 and 82 mm mortars, and various grenade launchers. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population: eight people were injured, including two children. 20 houses and one car were also damaged.

10:25 The situation in Mariupol, occupied by the Ukrainian Nazis, is still tense. Fighting continues in the city, and the forces of the People's Militia of the DPR and Russian troops were able to advance another 800 meters into the depths of the settlement. The most violent clashes are taking place in the Left Bank region, where the allied forces have already entered the urban area.

10:25 Ukrainian Nazis continue to hold the residents of Mariupol hostage. Although humanitarian corridors should operate from the settlement, the militants again did not release any of the civilians. They shift the responsibility to the DPR and Russia, accusing them of allegedly attacking civilians and mining roads.

09:44 Units of the People's Militia of the Donetsk Republic continued to compress the encirclement in Mariupol, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. The total advance from the eastern, northern and western directions was up to 800 meters.

09:36 Ukrainian nationalists, while fleeing, abandoned Javelin anti-tank systems in the village of Anadol, which came under the control of the DPR with the support of the Russian military, a correspondent of the Zvezda TV channel reported.Video.

State TV DEFIES President Putin's propaganda edict and broadcasts criticism of the war in Ukraine - with guests describing the shambolic invasion as 'like Afghanistan, but even WORSE'
[Daily Mail UK]
  • Putin's war on freedom of expression in Russia appeared to be fraying at the edges on Thursday

  • Guests on Kremlin-backed television defied Moscow and openly criticised the ongoing war in Ukraine

  • Some said the invasion was worse than the Afghanistan operation in the 1980s which ended in failure

  • Putin has intensified a crackdown on media and individuals who fail to hew to the Kremlin line on the war

Russians were given a glimpse of the truth about the war on Ukraine last night as guests on one of the country's most-popular state TV broadcasts risked the wrath of Vladimir Putin to denounce the invasion as 'worse' than the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan which helped bring down the Soviet Union.

Semyond Bagdasarov, an academic, used an appearance on Russia 1's prime time talk show 'An Evening with Vladimir Soloviev' - a man referred to as Putin's propagandist-in-chief - to call on the Russian president to end the attack, while warning allies like China and India could soon turn their backs on Moscow.

'Do we need to get into another Afghanistan, but even worse? There are more people and they're more advanced in their weapon handling', he said, 'We don't need that. Enough already.'

He then added: 'If this picture starts to transform into an absolute humanitarian disaster, even our close allies like China and India will be forced to distance themselves from us. 'This public opinion, with which they're saturating the entire world, can play out badly for us... Ending this operation will stabilise things within the country.'

Karen Shakhnazarov, a filmmaker and state pundit, also sought to bust the Kremlin's narrative that it is conducting a limited 'special operation' in the Donbass region by referencing attacks on the capital of Kyiv - which is located hundreds of miles away.

'I have a hard time imagining taking cities such as Kyiv. I can't imagine how that would look,' he said, even as Putin's troops close in on the capital and launch attacks into the outskirts.

The pair spoke out despite the Russian government last week passing laws that threaten 15 years in jail for anyone publishing 'fake news' about the war - though the definition of 'fake' is set by the Russian government itself, meaning any an all criticism of the Kremlin's actions is likely to be classed as such.

Almost all independent media in Russia have closed down since the bill became law, fearing a crackdown on dissent. It means citizens looking for information on the war are forced to turn to state-controlled media, which has been pumping out disinformation about it being a 'special military operation' to 'de-Nazify' Ukraine.

It came as...

Russian troops in Ukraine have been issued gas masks as chemical warfare equipment is seized from captured troops amid warnings from the West that Putin will launch a gas attack

A 40-mile Russian 'death convoy' that had been stalled to the north of Kyiv has begun moving towards the capital, satellite images reveal, with rocket artillery taking up firing positions as what is sure to be a long and bloody battle for control of the city enters its early stages

The information war escalated on Thursday, with Moscow shifting its stance over the bombing of a hospital in the city of Mariupol with a mix of statements on Thursday that veered between aggressive denials and a call by the Kremlin to establish clear facts.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, asked for comment in the immediate aftermath, told Reuters on Wednesday: 'Russian forces do not fire on civilian targets.' On Thursday he said the Kremlin would look into the incident.

Other Russian officials took a more aggressive line, rejecting the hospital bombing as fake news. 'This is information terrorism,' foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

The Defence Ministry later denied having bombed the hospital, accusing Ukraine of staging the incident. It said Russian forces at the time had been respecting an agreement to hold fire to allow the evacuation of civilians.

Having looked at the provided photo of the massive lines of people. I come away asking myself...

Is the CCP's leadership's goal to infect as many as possible in the shortest period of time?

Or was the photo from some other event entirely.

BkGrd Data:
With each test taking from start to finish say 3 to 4 mins. (ID verification, -Paperwork, Admin Test and wait for results)... now multiple that by a few 100,000 jammed in line and the wait times. The lines will stretch over a mile.

Now consider P2P COVID-19/22 INFECTION PROCESS of simply a Cough/Sneeze or body fluid/touch. So say they test everyone and find just 4 in the 100,000++ in line that day.

Question: How many have those 4 infected, that will NOT test Positive yet for DAYS?

Real or Deflection for something else?

I ask because usually, the CCP is tight-lipped and sits on negative information.

eg. For the whole Pandemic the CCP has claimed only 113,528 Covid-19 infections for a population of 1,439,323,776.

Why the big change, if not for alternative reasons.

In case you missed it...

Cybercriminals are leveraging the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict to target Russian entities. They are tricking users into downloading malware that purports to be offensive cyber tools for targeting Russian organizations. In one such instance, a threat actor distributed a stealer malware in the form of a DDoS tool on Telegram that was supposed to be used against Russian websites. The capabilities of the stealer include pilfering credentials and cryptocurrency-related information.

Chinese-linked hackers target at least six US states: Mandiant
[AlAhram] At least six US states have been targeted by hackers linked to China who exploited vulnerabilities in web programs, cybersecurity company Mandiant said in a report.

Notorious Chinese hacking group APT41 has been targeting US states in a tenacious and adaptive campaign, according to Mandiant.

From last May to this February, the group compromised at least six state government networks by exploiting vulnerabilities in internet-facing programs including an animal health reporting app, the report said.

Victims and data targeted by hackers were "consistent with an espionage operation" Mandiant said, but did not rule out that the motive could have been money given the group's "history of moonlighting for personal financial gain."

According to Mandiant, APT41 quickly adapted attacks to take advantage of new computer vulnerabilities that were made public.

For example, within hours of Apache Foundation announcing a critical flaw, the hackers began taking advantage of it and compromised at least two US state governments "as well as their more traditional targets in the insurance and telecommunications industries," the Mandiant report said.

Mandiant researchers described APT41 as highly resourceful.

"APT41's recent activity against US state governments consists of significant new capabilities," the researchers said.

Beijing said that it "firmly opposes any form of hacking attacks and cracks down on them in accordance with the law."

Foreign ministry front man Zhao Lijian told a regular briefing that authorities would not "encourage, support or condone" such acts, while charging that the US has been spreading false information about China.

The global hacking collective has been accused by US authorities of targeting company servers for ransom, compromising government networks and spying on Hong Kong activists.

Seven members of the group -- including five Chinese nationals -- were charged by the US Department of Justice in late 2020 with being involved in hacking more than 100 companies around the world.

Targets included computer hardware manufacturers, telecommunications providers, social media firms, video game companies, non-profit organizations, universities, think tanks, foreign governments and pro-democracy politicians, according to justice officials.

"We assess that China presents the broadest, most active, and persistent cyber espionage threat to US government and private sector networks," said a threat assessment report released this week by the office of the US director of national intelligence.

Google announced Tuesday a deal to acquire Mandiant for about $5.4 billion, one of the tech giant's biggest purchases ever as it works to bolster its cloud computing offer.

Mandiant, which helps customers prepare for or deal with cyberattacks, is expected to join Google Cloud this year, if the acquisition is approved by regulators.

Diesel Soars to Record High, Impacting 3.5 Million American Truckers
[BREITBART] The national average price for diesel fuel on Wednesday reached an all-time record high, impacting 3.5 million American truckers throughout the nation.

Rising 84 cents in one week, Wednesday’s national average hit $4.883, up 13 cents overnight, according to AAA.

Diesel transports about 70 percent of the nation’s freight tonnage, as just about all highway trucks are fueled by diesel engines, according to Diesel Technology Forum. About 3.5 million truck drivers and 711,000 trucking companies rely on diesel.

The record-high diesel prices will likely increase the cost of everyday products, such as clothing, produce, paper products, building materials, and vehicles.

The impact on everyday items will also increase the record-high inflation. New inflationary numbers will be reported Thursday.

The BIG IMPACT will be the food and basic items costing more.

Diesel here in Mid-Eastern GA. went from about 3.97 a gallon last week to $5.49 last night.

The Biden handlers/idiot Tree Hugging/ECO/Mother Earth 1st/Climate??/etc. types don't understand the 1st thing about supply and demand and its relationship to prices vs Income.

But they will when their Veggies and other such PC items start costing 10x in a few months.

HINT: Buy your Wheelbarrow NOW before the price goes up.

You need it to haul the $$$$$ around to buy a loaf of bread. IF there is any available.

We stocked up here and there, over the last 2 years... We can likely manage for A GOOD WHILE ... if push comes to shove with many 2023 to 2025 canned and etc. food Best By dates.

But a few more items might be in order before the full impact of BIDEN's shutdown of the USA DRILLING is seen.

#8  All those work trucks too.

Funny you mention coffee; there was a meme back when gas started soaring, "Complaining about gas while drinking $5 coffee." Didn't last long, because the left can't meme, it was an own goal hitting the Starbucks type crown.

And because the left can't meme, they dusted it off, "All of you complaining about the price of gas after drinking $12 beers at the rodeo last night."

Of course, that was a $2 coffee and $5 beer last year. Whatever.

I'm sure you have come across the middle age wine ladies living off divorce money, "I'm doing my part" clear conscience episodes. A message so tin, you could can beans with it. More please.

"Just get an EV!" dorks; electricity is up too. And the stuff to make the batteries with.

The latest is a Well Ackshually piece about how drilling/harvesting energy domestically will not lower prices.

Guess next will be a tik tok dance 'For Ukraine" challenge where for every $10 you spend at the pump, can you do the dance continuously 1 minute. Bonus social credit points for doing the dance at a gas pump.

#12  Knew it. 100% wag the dog -- they're openly admitting it. They created hyperinflation last year, now they're launching a "financial war" that is sending inflation to the stratosphere, and now they're blaming someone else for what resulted from their own actions. What a disgusting crew.,

Biden, Democrats infuse Ukraine crisis into a recast election-year pitch to voters
In a string of political meetings over the past week, the president and his party made clear they hope to pin blame for rising gas prices and other issues on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

PHILADELPHIA — President Biden and his party have moved in recent days to reorient their election-year pitch to voters around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine — seeking to shift blame for struggles to tame rising prices onto Vladimir Putin ...

Democrats said they hope the message, which they honed in political meetings over the past week, will help address some of their biggest liabilities ahead of the November midterm elections. Chief among them are Biden’s low approval ratings and a widespread perception that Democrats are at fault for a sharp increase in inflation.

Russia Releases Alleged Captured Documents Of U.S. Biolabs In Ukraine As Evidence Before UN Security Council Meeting
[USASUPREME] The U.N. Security Council will hold an emergency meeting Friday on alleged manufacture of biological weapons in Ukraine at the request of Moscow, whose credibility on chemical weapons

was questioned during a session on Syria.

Russia on Thursday accused the United States of funding research into the development of biological weapons in Ukraine, which has faced an assault by tens of thousands of Russian troops since Feb. 24.

Both Washington and Kyiv have denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
with the United States saying they were a sign that Moscow could soon use the weapons itself.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Russia’s allegations in a video address on Thursday, saying, "No one is developing any chemical or any other weapons of mass destruction" in Ukraine.

Western states have charged that Russia is employing a ruse by accusing their opponents and the United states of developing biological and chemical weapons to lay the ground for their possible use in Ukraine — something Moscow has been accused of doing in Syria.

However Russian officials claim that they have evidence of the bio labs and the viruses that were produced in it.
