[IsraelTimes] Homes in Avnei Hefetz slightly damaged; military launches hunt for Paleostinian gunman after troops find 30 shell casings nearby
A suspected Paleostinian gunman shot up the settlement of Avnei Hefetz in the northern West Bank late Monday, causing damage to several buildings, according to the military.
The town ordered residents to stay indoors as heavy gunfire was heard near the town.
Local security sources said the gunman arrived in a vehicle, opened fire, and expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.
Troops found some 30 shell casings nearby, as well as bullet holes in several homes. No injuries were caused.
The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday that it had launched a manhunt for the alleged gunman.
The shooting came amid heightened tensions following several deadly terror attacks in Israeli cities, as well as shootouts with terror group members in the West Bank.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that security officials are currently "operating in a very aggressive manner. So far, the IDF, the Shin Bet, and the Israel Police have foiled more than 15 serious attacks that were planned by terrorist elements in the West Bank and the rest of Israel."
He said that more than 200 suspects have already been arrested and dozens of raids have been carried out, and more than 400 individuals with connections to Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. "Russia has been using hunger against our people since the first days of the war. The worst is in Mariupol. This half-million city was completely blocked by Russian troops more than a month ago. They blocked access from both land and sea. Any access," he said.
"They are blocking humanitarian goods, do not allow to bring anything — food, water, medicine. When there was snow, people could melt at least the snow to get water, but now there is none."
"Why are they doing this? Because they also consider hunger as their weapon. Weapon against us, ordinary people. As a tool to dominate."

Bala, a former Moslem and the president of the Humanist Association of Nigeria, was arrested in April 2020 for what authorities said were social media posts blasphemous toward Islam.
"The Humanist community in Nigeria is utterly shocked by the sentencing of Mubarak Bala for 'blasphemy.' It is utterly disgraceful that a court in this 21st century could convict an individual for making innocuous posts on Facebook," wrote Leo Igwe, a board member of the organization Humanists International.
"Today is a sad day for humanism, human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... and freedom in Nigeria. The sentencing of Mubarak Bala is a stark violation of the rights to freedom of expression and freedom of religion or belief. We urge the authorities in Nigeria to ensure that this judicial charade does not stand," Igwe added.
The supposed crime of blasphemy typically involves the perceived insult of a deity or deities. Its place in Nigeria's legal code, as in multiple countries around the world, dates back to British imperial rule.
BALA COULD HAVE FACED EXECUTION AT SHARIA COURT
Prosecutors in the West African country's predominantly Moslem northern state of Kano said Bala had insulted the Prophet Muhammad and Islam in Facebook posts which they claimed sought to, "cause a breach of the public peace."
Bala had long maintained his innocence but surprised his legal team Tuesday by pleading guilty to 18 charges of blasphemy.
The presiding judge halted the trial to grant counsel the opportunity to speak to Bala to "be sure he was under no influence or intimidation" and understood "the implication of his plea."
Bala told the court he was "pleading for mercy and leniency," adding: "The intention of the posts was not to cause violence but I have realized they are capable of causing violence. I will take care in the future."
Supporters fear he was coerced by Nigerian authorities and questioned the state's motives, raising issues of a flawed process.
During his nearly two years in detention, Bala was reportedly put in solitary confinement where he was denied health care and forced to "worship in the Moslem way," according to his lawyer.
Authorities in Kano insist the trial was fair, stating that Bala is welcome to appeal its decision.
The trial was conducted in a secular court. Had he been tried in one of Nigeria's Islamic Sharia courts he could have faced the death penalty .
'A DAY OF SHAME' FOR NIGERIAN AUTHORITIES SAY HUMANISTS

The Indians could have stopped the European invasion if they had united to do so but each tribe thought to use the Europeans as allies against their other Indian opponents. [ZERO] Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Mark Milley in Tuesday testimony before the House Armed Services Committee told Congressional leaders that the US should establish permanent military bases in Eastern Europe in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
He cited that allies Romania, Poland and Baltic countries remain "very willing" to host US bases, and that "they'll build them, they'll pay for them." He testified alongside Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin. "My advice would be to create permanent bases, but don’t permanently station," Milley said.
He explained that this wouldn't necessitate permanently deployed forces, but with the same benefits: "You get the effect of permanence by rotational forces," the top general said.

The Chinese stopped exporting fertilizer to the US in December (Belarus and Russia continued until February). Prices have doubled in the US - ask any farmer you know. Big switch to planting beans instead of corn due to lower fertilizer requirements. And BTW tractors run on diesel not gasoline. Going to be a very interesting year for our agriculture sector

What we have seen here in Middle Easter GA. is lots of farm acreage planted in 2021 in WHEAT and harvested last week. The farmers are were collecting the straw until the rains hit us.
BTW: The Fields planted in Wheat this time, have usually been Soybean, or Corn for farm feed or cotton. Wheat was a new thing and not common in this neck of the woods.

Big switch to planting beans instead of corn due to lower fertilizer requirements.
It would be nice if this switch could be made permanent. King Corn and putting HFCS into every other packaged food and beverage are probably the biggest causes of the obesity epidemic. It would save us billions in wasted subsidies as well.
Also less US corn production would help small Mexican farmers and reduce economic pressures on Mexicans, which would reduce illegal immigration. Less corn is a good thing.

Adding up the energy costs of corn production and its conversion to ethanol. Multiple sources tell us that 131,000 BTUs are used to make 1 gallon of ethanol which treats 10 gallons of Gasoline. One gallon of 90/10 Gas/Ethanol treated fuel has an energy value of around 76,300 BTU's. or
While conventional untreated Regular gasoline has an energy content of about 116,090 Btu's per gallon.
So not only are we wasting food to feed people. We are wasting close to as much energy in doing so.

Dems claim to be moving away from Iowa caucuses. We'll see. Meanwhile, the screeching about Russia / Ukraine collapsing the fertilizer market, the wheat market, and so on should mean even spoiled corn will be sold for the foreseeable future here in the US.
ZH had an article the other day that corn farmers are switching to soybeans because they need less fertilizer.

Almost entirely Covid Protocol fallout. Go back three years, and a war like this has no real noticeable worldwide effect. Regionally served shortages could be alleviated by markets further away.

It will be interesting to see how much more traffic the lines can support: a back of the envelope math problem showed me last year it would require 100+ trains of >100 cars to equal daily Keystone output, but somehow i think any train count >25 daily is a pipedream, at least in short term. Even longer PSR driven trains. Siding length and single track will be limiting factors.

Locust Grove GA. regularly has 25-30 trains a day. Many with 100+ rail cars, being pulled by 3 or 4 engines. We have counted 110+ on many occasions. The reason is it is the many rail line coming up from GA and Fla. Harbor or taking WV coal to the Southern Company Power plants still burning it further south.

[ZERO] Various health problems reported by people after receiving one of the COVID-19 vaccine shots are more likely caused by the vaccines than being merely coincidental, according to an analysis of data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). "It's just a harmless jungle defoliant, you'll see."
VAERS has been flooded with more than a million reports of various health problems and more than 21,000 death reports since the introduction of the vaccines in late 2020. Some experts and public officials have downplayed the significance of the reports, noting that just because a health problem occurs after getting the shot, it doesn’t mean it was caused by it.
A deeper analysis of the data, however, indicates that many of the adverse effects are more than just a coincidence, according to Jessica Rose, a computational biologist who’s been studying the data for at least nine months.
"The safety signals being thrown off in VAERS now are off the charts across the board," she told The Epoch Times.
There are multiple ways to parse the data in order to flush out whether the causal link between an adverse event and the vaccination is real or illusory. For example, the vaccines usually come in two doses. A random adverse event unrelated to the vaccine should be dose agnostic. A stroke randomly coinciding with a vaccination shouldn’t be picky about which dose it was. In the VAERS data, however, a number of the reported problems are dose-dependent. Myocarditis in teenagers, for example, is reported several times more often after the second dose than after the first one. Following a booster shot, in contrast, the frequency is significantly lower than after the first dose, Rose found.
While we are out and abound meeting people again & sharing C-19 stories. Some are telling us they got VAX'd/Boostered and still got the C-19. A few that got VAX'd, still ended up in the Hospital.
A few tell us that they have had younger VAX'd family members that had adverse reactions ranging from ongoing head & body aches, brain fog, clots and other things they did not have before.
I honestly don't think we will ever be told the whole truth about the VAX, or even the real cause, or C-19 numbers.

/\ Here's some truth. I'll never get another gov't recommended JAB. Lost a friend a couple of months ago. He was in good shape, not obese, was active, Viet Vet, hiker for Vet causes, comfortably retired, but on hypertension meds. Fell ill and died within a hour or so. Very suspicious.

I won't get any boosters. I've never tested positive. I only got the initial jab because the lockdown scenario at the time seemed to demand it. Now we know it's another lame gummint program. The vaxxes do. not. work. The claim you will be "less sick" if you are vaccinated cannot ever be clinically proven.
People who live in fear of COVID will always be with us. I cannot let their fears run my life.

When a new vaccine goes through clinical trials they test it on x number of people and expect a certain percentage of side effects based on unexpected variables. If a side effect is lethal the program is cancelled.
When x number of people includes millions and millions of people the variables have got to be crazy in numbers and cancellation is unlikely as the powers that be can't admit mistakes.

In our case we ( wife & I) never have been VAX'd.
We caught it likely from extended family member, an RN, who visited us, who had been VAX'd, who then came down with a "mild flu" a few days later and several days before we did.
But we were out living a normal life for almost 2 years before be hospitalized for 2 weeks and We still would not get the VAX.

[Breitbart] El Paso Sector Border Patrol officials report a trend where adult migrants attempt to pass themselves off as unaccompanied minors. The agents uncovered 23 such attempts so far this fiscal year.
El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez tweeted a report revealing an encounter with a male Guatemalan migrant. Chavez said the adult migrant attempted to pass himself off as a 17-year-old boy, presumably to take advantage of Biden Administration policies for unaccompanied minors.
The chief reported that agents in this sector uncovered 23 such fraudulent immigration attempts since the beginning of Fiscal Year ’22, which began on October 1, 2021.
Elsewhere in the El Paso Sector, a private citizen reported seeing a group of people being loaded into the rear of a tractor-trailer. El Paso Station agents responded to the area and located the rig. [Washington Examiner] The Democratic cybersecurity lawyer charged by special counsel John Durham with lying to the FBI about working for the Clinton campaign doesn’t want British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s dossier brought up at the trial following indications from the special counsel that it will be.
Michael Sussmann was indicted last year on charges of concealing his clients, Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and "tech executive" Rodney Joffe, from FBI general counsel James Baker when he pushed since-debunked claims of a secret backchannel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank. He has pleaded not guilty.
Steele created his now-discredited dossier after being hired by opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which was itself hired by Perkins Coie and Marc Elias, the general counsel for Clinton’s campaign.
Durham appears to be building a case that many collusion claims can be sourced back to Democratic operatives or linked to the Clinton campaign.
Sussmann’s lawyers asked a federal judge on Monday to preclude three categories of evidence: the gathering of domain name system data by Joffe and others; the accuracy of that data and conclusions based on it; and "Christopher Steele and information he separately provided to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (including the so-called ’Steele Dossier’)."
The defense team argued: "The single false statement charge brought against Mr. Sussmann surely does not flow from the gathering of data, the accuracy of that data, the accuracy of the conclusions based on that data, or any information Mr. Steele may have provided to the FBI."
The lawyers argued Sussmann did not have "any awareness" that Steele was "separately providing information to the FBI."
"The Special Counsel has not charged a substantive scheme to defraud the government, nor has he charged a conspiracy to defraud the government," Sussmann's lawyers argued. "The manner in which the data was gathered, the objective strength and reliability of that data and/or conclusions drawn from the data, and the information that Christopher Steele separately provided to the FBI all have no bearing on the only crime the Special Counsel chose to charge."
Sussmann’s lawyers said that during a phone conference last month, Durham indicated that "he intends to introduce evidence and argument pertaining to reports and information" that Steele provided to the FBI, adding that Durham "presumably" intends to call Steele as a witness.

Omomolet Phutch9064, you weren’t to know, but Ha’aretz has all the problems, or faults of character if you will, of the New York Times. While their journalists (no mere reporters, they) demonstrate strong writing skills, their reporting is blindered by the stereotypical narratives common to the left around the world, which drives them to miss or ignore important stories and ditto important details of the stories they do report. If Hebrew is not one of your languages, I can recommend the Jerusalem Post, The Times of Israel, or Ynet as English languages Israeli news sites. I seem to recall the in Times of Israel also has a Russian language version — the other two might also, so that’s something to look into is your Russian is better than your English.

Goodness knows that’s true. But on this case President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been throwing spaghetti at the wall in the hope that at least one of his arguments will stick, getting help for his beleaguered country. I don’t blame him for using an argument few other national leaders can.
How does he spell his name? It seems different every time.
Transliterations from another alphabet generally depend on what the transcriber hears — hence the variations until the news services settle on one of them. We see that all the time in reports from Israel — The Times of Israel and the Jerusalem Post have different style books for place and Arabic names. Ditto the several sites we use for reports on Iraq and Syria, making archives searches a bit more challenging.

Why mention emulating Israel, which brings to mind decades of war with crazy neighbors? I would've said Switzerland which is famously neutral and at peace even with the Nazi's (I would say Sweden but their neutrality is looking shakier these days).

The existence of the text message between Sussmann and then-FBI General Counsel James Baker was revealed in a court filing late Monday night by Durham's team. "In fact, the defendant had assembled and conveyed the allegations to the FBI on behalf of at least two specific clients, including (i) a technology executive ("Tech Executive-1") at a U.S.-based Internet company ("Internet Company-1"), and (ii) the Clinton Campaign."
The prosecutor noted that in House testimony a year later Sussmann admitted he made the FBI approach at the instruction of his client.
"We had a conversation, as lawyers do with their clients, about client 1 needs and objectives and the best course to take for a client," Sussmann testified in a deposition taken by then-House Intelligence Committee Republican investigative counsel Kash Patel. "And so it may have been a decision that we came to together. I mean, I don't want to imply that I was sort of directed to do something against my better judgment, or that we were in any sort of conflict."
Durham also told the court he plans to present evidence that Sussmann worked with the Clinton campaign, tech executive Rodney Joffe, identified as Tech Executive-1, and others in a "joint venture" to promote a now-disproven story that Donald Trump had a secret computer channel at the Moscow-based Alfa Bank with the Kremlin to hijack the election.

Do you even know anything about the origin of the term denazification? We created it during WWII. It was conscious US and Allied policy from 1943 onward. Wiki has a good overview: "an Allied initiative to rid German and Austrian society, culture, press, economy, judiciary, and politics of the Nazi ideology following the Second World War. It was carried out by removing those who had been Nazi Party or SS members from positions of power and influence and by disbanding or rendering impotent the organizations associated with Nazism."

When a nation attacks another nation, it usually vilifies the victim and portrays itself as a hero. Attackers will even sometimes fake an attack to justify starting a war.
To justify the usual massive numbers of the victim nation's civilian deaths, attackers will claim items from a typical political excuse list.

We did in fact kill lots of German civilians in Operation Gomorrah in July 1943, the firebombing of Hamburg that incinerated 37,000 German civilians. But no rational person would call that "genocide" or confuse that military action with our denazification policy.

[ABC.AU] Four ADF Bushmaster vehicles have been hastily repainted and modified so they can be flown to Europe within days of a direct public request from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During Thursday's historic address to parliament the Ukrainian leader caught Defence by surprise when he nominated the troop carriers as a practical example of what Australia could provide his nation as it fights a Russian invasion.
Immediately following President Zelenskyy's historic address the Defence department scrambled to work out how best to get the Bendigo-built armoured vehicles to the war-torn nation in Eastern Europe quickly.
Now the ABC can reveal the first four troop carriers were repainted and refitted in Brisbane over the weekend ahead of their delivery to RAAF Base Amberley, where they are expected to be loaded onto a C-17 Globemaster before being flown to Europe.
A RAAF Globemaster can carry up to four Bushmasters on board at any one time, but it is understood the ADF is also examining whether some of the vehicles used by the Dutch military could be given to the Ukrainians as well.
During the Afghanistan war the Bushmaster was credited for saving the lives of Australian soldiers, with the Dutch government buying more than 100 of them.
The UK Defence Force is believed to operate around 20 of the vehicles.
Last week Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared Australia would meet President Zelenskyy's request, by "not just sending our prayers … we're going to be sending our armoured vehicles, our bushmasters as well, and we'll be flying them over on our C-17s".

Nice, but not just a single tank. The first hit partially pins the column, which is then attacked with indirect fire - note the impact spots around the dead vehicle at the end. There might also be another UA vehicle offscreen bottom at the start, note the RU tracer fire going in that direction.

Yeah, Joe will try for Zimbob level inflation, but I suspect the guys and gals over at the Fed aren't as afraid of Joe as their counterparts were of Mugabe.

^ It's not that simple. Yellen and Powell are hearing daily from their counterparts around the world. The rest of the world's debt problems come back to the US's debt problems. They are all riding on top of a volcano, but they aren't dumb enough collectively to imagine saying "Putin's fault" will solve their problems.

^ True. They won't get away with it but that won't stop a hack like Yellen from trying. She was the one who kept mouthing the "temporary inflation" line last year. Guess the brutal recession that's coming will be shrugged off as "temporary" as well
