[FOX] U.S. lawmakers are reportedly questioning California Sen. Dianne Feinstein's capacity to do her job at her age.
Senators and other officials are reportedly concerned that Diane Feinstein, 88, is no longer mentally competent enough to do her job as a lawmaker, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Feinstein's critics, however, have declined to speak on the record and asked to have their names withheld.
"I have worked with her for a long time and long enough to know what she was like just a few years ago: always in command, always in charge, on top of the details, basically couldn’t resist a conversation where she was driving some bill or some idea. All of that is gone," an anonymous lawmaker told the Chronicle.
"She was an intellectual and political force not that long ago,
...political, yes. But intellectual is not a word I ever thought to see attached to her name...
and that’s why my encounter with her was so jarring. Because there was just no trace of that," the lawmaker allegedly continued.
"It’s bad, and it’s getting worse," a Democratic senator reportedly told the Chronicle.
Sources speaking to the Chronicle about the issue remained anonymous.
In particular, Feinstein has defended any perceived distractions as a consequence of her husband's tragic death due to cancer earlier this year.
"The last year has been extremely painful and distracting for me, flying back and forth to visit my dying husband who passed just a few weeks ago," Feinstein's office told Fox News Digital in a statement. "But there’s no question I’m still serving and delivering for the people of California, and I’ll put my record up against anyone’s."

[FOX] A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers flew to Taiwan for an official visit Thursday, defying threats from the Chinese government.
Lawmakers from both the House and Senate landed in the country Wednesday morning to a warm welcome from Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen. The Chinese government soon released a statement condemning the visit.
The lawmakers visiting were Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Richard Burr of North Carolina, and Rob Portman of Ohio, Republican Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, and Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez.

To compensate for rising fuel costs, Amazon will charge sellers a 5% fuel and inflation fee that will go into effect on April 28, according to Bloomberg, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The surcharge will apply to sellers who use Amazon's massive network of fulfillment centers across the US to sell goods. Fulfillment centers handle the logistics of getting goods to consumers' doorstep but take a massive network of fuel-guzzling planes, trains, trucks, and vans for the e-commerce company to deliver on its two-day promise.

Because climate change is driving more of these events to happen, experts predict that the amount of air pollution will only increase in the years to come, implying a dramatic shift in respiratory health for many individuals. Even the current rates of air pollution are causing problems, as a recent study from the Hospital del Mar Research Institute (IMIM) found a significant link between air pollution and rates of strokes.
BACKGROUND WHAT MAKES UP AIR POLLUTION?
There are many chemicals that make up pollution, but the most harmful ones include carbon monoxide (CO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). In order to study how these molecules affect individuals, the researchers at IMIM studied NO2 and soot exposure specifically, looking at emissions of these chemicals via car traffic in Catalonia, Spain. The researchers took into account individuals who had had a stroke before the study and how close individuals lived to green spaces (which intrinsically have less air pollution).
ANALYSIS: MORE POLLUTION EQUALS A HIGHER RISK OF STROKE
From their analysis, the scientists found a correlation between levels of NO2 in the atmosphere and the risk of stroke. Their data showed that for each increase of 10 micrograms per cubic meter of NO2, the risk of a stroke increases by 4%. According to Cathryn Tonne, a researcher, and author of the study: "It should be borne in mind that, unlike other air pollutants, which have various sources, NO2 is mainly caused by road traffic. Therefore, if we want to reduce the multiple risks that this pollutant poses to people’s health, we need to implement bold measures to reduce car use."
The study also found that the risk of stroke increases by 5% for every 1 microgram per cubic meter of soot particles in the atmosphere. For those living closer to a green space, the risk of stroke significantly decreased by up to 16% in some areas. "People who are surrounded by greater levels of greenery at their place of residence are protected against the onset of stroke," said Dr. Carla Avellaneda, one of the main authors of this study that the researchers published in Environment International.
OUTLOOK: A BIGGER TREND FOR AIR POLLUTION CAPS
From their study, the researchers are hopeful that policymakers can use their data to adjust the current levels of pollution that are considered safe for individuals. According to the lead author of the study, Dr. Rosa Maria Vivanco: "Despite compliance with the levels set by the European Union, we are faced with the paradox that there is still a health risk, such as the one we identified in this study, where there is a direct relationship between exposure to pollutants in an environment and the risk of suffering a stroke." As rates of air pollution are predicted to rise, researchers like Vivanco are worried regulations may be overlooked until it’s too late. "The danger is still present and many more measures need to be taken," Vivanco said.

[NYPOST] Virginia’s Loudoun County School Board, which was accused of covering up the sexual assault of a high school girl last year, could be voted out of office en masse in November if Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin gets his way.
According to a bill amendment backed by Youngkin, all nine board members would be up for re-election this year, 12 months earlier than previously scheduled, according to ABC7.
Following that election, five members would be up for re-election two years down the line while the other four would not face the voters again until 2026.
The proposal will need to be approved by Virginia’s legislature to go into effect.
Youngkin’s amendment follows his day-one order for the commonwealth’s attorney general to investigate potential wrongdoing by board members and the school district regarding the sexual assaults.
The attacks made national news after Virginia parent Scott Smith was arrested during a June 22 school district meeting as he confronted officials over an attack on his daughter in a bathroom at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn on May 28. Smith claimed at the meeting that his daughter had been accosted by a "boy in a skirt."
A 15-year-old boy was later charged in that assault as well as an Oct. 6 attack at nearby Broad Run High School. He was later found guilty in both attacks and sentenced to supervised probation in a residential treatment facility until the age of 18

The Snake Island ship was Vasily Bykov, a large patrol corvette. I noticed when the stamp first came out, the pictured ship was *not* Vasily Bykov, but of a different class.
Vasily Bykov pic - note the deck gun and lack of missile tubes that Moskva, being a missile cruiser has.

The mine is more likely to snap the keel with an underwater blast. I have seen two ship fires, it would be hard to believe that the ship was evacuated for towing without a bunch of dead guys. She is gas turbine powered so it is possible to turn the key off and leave. Not sure why you would abandon ship unless she was actively afire. If she is actively burning and loaded with ammo, I wouldn’t want to be the tow truck.

Certainly good for a laugh. But when has Ivan been concerned about casualties or losses of equipment? In WWII they had NKVD battalions following forward troops and if they didn't keep the time table it was curtains. In WWI Imperial Russian officers were forbidden by custom and law to take cover under fire.
Look what the Finns did to them and on the cheap at that. I don't know, perhaps Borodino? or maybe not. The way they think seems to be the essence of it's not over until it's over.

A scary ship in its day. Those missile launchers were huge and intimidating. Evidently they were also very flammable. The above the superstructure looked to be burning like the sun throughout the night vision video that I saw. I have no idea how they could have evacuated other than diving over the side.
