In the US, well - marching around and making fools of themselves is an "art form". They don't really want to go to places which have no Michelin rating...

I think we should assign this story to ~~Daniel Pearl~~ Maureen Dowd. She's always moping about the lack of love in her life. Okay, Dowdy, maximum care and love coming right up.

#5 Nope. It won't work. It will be 2012 at the earliest. And that will occur ONLY if Pakistan starts on a fast-track program of outhouse building. And if they get that done by 2010, and a publicity campaign is successful, it still will not matter because the End Times tour packages will take all the potential tourists away. All the Paks have left is corruption and seething. Better hold on to what you have.

#9 Under other circumstances, I'd love to see the high mountains in Pakistan/Afghanistan. Hindu Kush and all that.

I'm a little less clear on the cultural attractions, though.

3) Visit a church or synagogue

Their first schedueled IS visitors are detachments from the 5th and 10th Special Forces Groups, and some CIA guys "on holiday".

#23 Lonely Planet has a video that includes Pakistan and (I think) parts of Afghanistan and Iran. Our intrepid traveler managed to arrive at a Shiite city on one of the Death of Hussein bloodletting festivals, and cut his visit short. He was obviously queasy.
