Comey stands by decision not to charge HRC after review of additional emails
[New York Post] PHILADELPHIA -- FBI Director James Comey abruptly announced Sunday that a review of newly discovered emails sent or received by Hillary Clinton has not changed his conclusion that the Democrat should not face criminal charges. His announcement came in a letter to congressional lawmakers two days before Election Day.

Comey said the FBI has worked "around the clock to process and review a large number of emails" obtained from a device belonging to Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former congressman and estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. He said the review has not changed the bureau’s assessment from earlier this year that Clinton should not be prosecuted for her handling of classified information at the State Department.

The new review has roiled the presidential campaign in its final days, shattering what had appeared to be Clinton’s solid grip on the race and emboldening Republican Donald Trump. During a campaign stop earlier Sunday, Trump warned that Clinton would be under investigation as president, prompting an "unprecedented constitutional crisis."

#4  Unfortunately for Clinton, Comey's new letter only makes him look MORE guilty of protecting Hillary. If there's justice and he hangs for his treason, I hope instead of being offered a last chance to speak, the hangman simply says, "What difference will it make?" and yanks the lever.

#6  Comey escorted the Clinton's attorney, Mr. Kobayashi, somewhat brusquely to the front door and saw him out. Kobayashi ambled to the end of the block and disappeared around the corner.

The good Director slammed the door and stared at it for a moment. He knew what was in the manila envelope on the dining room table behind him. He sighed. "She's got my whole life in there."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
As an election Donald Trump could actually win looms, Madonna tells America: 'The world is laughing at us'
The nervousness building ahead of what will be one of the most polarising elections in recent history is palpable. Whereas only a few months ago celebrities were laughing at Donald Trump vying for the Republican nomination, with just two days to go, many are now pulling all the stops out to warn against the man who could actually be elected President of the United States.

In a damning summary of the series of events leading up to the situation America finds itself in now, Madonna says the joke is on the US. Her message is stark: "The whole world is laughing at us right now."
I don't really care about the opinion of a bunch of hopelessly clueless socialists.
After issuing calls for those on the fence to choose a Democrat and elect the first female President, this time the singer spoke directly to Trump supporters to warn them that while he may be entertaining, this is not television. This is real life, with potentially grave consequences.
Well, if you're so concerned, then you'd better get back on your knees. I see you have a runny nose, so you're probably full. Here's a bucket. Get to work.
Unlike many other celebratory endorsements issued by Lena Dunham, Katy Perry and Beyonce, Madonna's was grim. "All politicians lie," she wrote on Instagram. "All. Even our most beloved and esteemed."
Nothing gets past Madonna.
The undercurrent of 'choose the lesser of two evils' that has come to define this election continued with her imploring his supporters to ignore the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails and vote for her, "or we are all f**ked".
Yeah, instead of focusing on the emails maybe they can focus on Benghazi or CGI instead. Or her miserable trail of political choices. Or her trashing Bill's Bimbos and the women he raped.
"We do not want a wall built around the US paid for with our hard-earned money. All politicians lie. All!! Even our most beloved and esteemed. Can we please get off the email scenario and focus on the bigger picture? If Trump were elected we would be at war in no time at all. The whole world is laughing at us right now. I can only imagine what Trump writes in his e-mails.
What do you know about hard-earned money?
"Wake up people - this is not a reality show. I appreciate his charm and entertainment value but he is not qualified to be a head of state! Facts! Vote Clinton or we are all f**ked."
Facts? Like when you ignore the FBI and WikiLeaks?
The embattled Republican nominee has been hit by accusations of sexual assault from a number of women, which he has denied, and lewd comments unearthed from 11 years previously that shocked when many thought they couldn't be shocked by his actions anymore.
Snowflakes from an alternate reality where nobody has any fun. You'd make great Shakers.
But neither his accusers or his comments have derailed his campaign and Mr Trump's controversies have only seemed to bolster the support from his fans. That the US could wake up on 9 November with Donald Trump as the incumbent President is an outcome few had believed could be a reality. Now it is faced with an outcome that could radically shape the political landscape forever.
Couldn't be any worse than what 0bean has done to us in the name of rudderless transformation.

Drums Along the Potomac
[American Thinker] Watching the events of last week online I’m reminded of Drums Along the Mohawk a story about a couple in New York’s Mohawk Valley during the Revolutionary War. The New York frontier settlers fought off Tories, Indians, the British with a small militia, muskets, and grit until peace was restored and they could return to farming.

A revolutionary war is being fought again in New York and D.C., this time between the administration’s corrupted Department of Justice, the compliant press and the Democratic Party on one hand, and the New York Police Department, the U.S. Attorney Preet Bahara, and the FBI on the other. The issues at stake are not all that different: the right of free people to govern themselves. The weapons are not muskets, but the Internet.

Background: The Wheels Coming Off the Hillary Bus

We’re just 2 days away from the election and having worked at times in bureaucratic organizations I can imagine the turmoil in the vast Clinton machine. The constant releases of hacked emails by Wikileaks in such a top-down operation surely has hamstrung their work. People who work there are either searching frantically for their names in the emails, gossiping among each other about what is found there and worrying about what is to come. The head of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz was replaced, only to find the new head Donna Brazile was herself the subject of scandal -- leaking debate questions she learned were going to be asked of Hillary.

It’s not only Wikileaks -- Project Veritas’s exposure of the Creamer-headed vote-rigging and thuggery operation must have put a crimp in its 50-year-long Midwestern vote-stealing scheme. People who worked for him have to be unsure of their next steps and with the Wisconsin attorney general promising an investigation, it must be harder still to operate as usual.

Huma Abedin, Hillary’s right-hand gal of many hats, is on the sidelines as her husband’s computer with its 650 thousand emails is being examined by local cops and the FBI for evidence of child pornography and national security leaks. The Clinton Foundation slush fund is under scrutiny for pay-to-play corruption and tax fraud and their many employees, recipients, and donors must be scouring their records and getting unwelcome law enforcement inquiries.
Con't.

#1  Oh, "Drums Along the Mohawk" was just a movie. "Drums Along the Potomac" is yet to be made--the script is still being written. In the meantime for your watching, there is a Tom Cruise movie to be released in 2017 called "American Made;" otherwise referred to as Mena--something about Barry Seal, cocaine, "Slick" and a little town in Arkansas.

#3  Pretty comprehensive look at what is being described as a counter coup. Feldman doesn't take it into account, but maybe writer Matt Bracken has that there is a lot going on amongst Patriots who are watching this. Patriots considering doing Patriot stuff. As I have said before, repeatedly, regardless of who wins the White House we are looking at a nationwide sh*t show.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran commands 25,000 militants in Syria
[Wash Times] The former head of Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, Avi Dichter, says Iran now commands a force of 25,000 Shia militants in Syria, fighting against the Sunni opposition to the Iranian-backed, Shia government of Syrian President Assad. These fighters are mostly recruits from Afghanistan, Pakistan and are in addition to Hezbollah, the Iranian terrorist army based out of Lebanon.

Israel has long considered Iran its greatest threat in the region and fears Iran may turn these now battle-hardened militants against the Jewish State when the Syrian Civil War concludes, reports the Jerusalem Post. Dichter said 1,600 members of Hezbollah had been killed in the war.

"This is a foreign legion of some 25,000 militants, most of whom have come from Afghanistan and Pakistan," Dichter said during a briefing in Israel on Wednesday, according to details provided by his office. "They are fighting in Syria only against the rebels and not against ISIS."

"The Iranians enlisted Hezbollah ... to fight in Syria because the Iranian army is better suited to fight as an army against another army, while the Hezbollah militants are adept at fighting against terror groups," he said. "The fighting has made (Hezbollah) a better fighting force and more adept in conventional military warfare."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Clinton directed her maid to print out classified materials
As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton routinely asked her maid to print out sensitive government e-mails and documents ‐ including ones containing classified information ‐ from her house in Washington, DC, e-mails and FBI memos show. But the housekeeper lacked the security clearance to handle such material.

In fact, Marina Santos was called on so frequently to receive e-mails that she may hold the secrets to E-mailgate ‐ if only the FBI and Congress would subpoena her and the equipment she used.

Clinton entrusted far more than the care of her DC residence, known as Whitehaven, to Santos. She expected the Filipino immigrant to handle state secrets, further opening the Democratic presidential nominee to criticism that she played fast and loose with national security.

Clinton would first receive highly sensitive e-mails from top aides at the State Department and then request that they, in turn, forward the messages and any attached documents to Santos to print out for her at the home.

Among other things, Clinton requested Santos print out drafts of her speeches, confidential memos and "call sheets" ‐ background information and talking points prepared for the secretary of state in advance of a phone call with a foreign head of state.

"Pls ask Marina to print for me in am," Clinton e-mailed top aide Huma Abedin regarding a redacted 2011 message marked sensitive but unclassified.

In a classified 2012 e-mail dealing with the new president of Malawi, another Clinton aide, Monica Hanley, advised Clinton, "We can ask Marina to print this."

"Revisions to the Iran points" was the subject line of a classified April 2012 e-mail to Clinton from Hanley. In it, the text reads, "Marina is trying to print for you."

Both classified e-mails were marked "confidential," the tier below "secret" or "top secret."

Santos also had access to a highly secure room called an SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility) that diplomatic security agents set up at Whitehaven, according to FBI notes from an interview with Abedin.

From within the SCIF, Santos ‐ who had no clearance ‐ "collected documents from the secure facsimile machine for Clinton," the FBI notes revealed.

Just how sensitive were the papers Santos presumably handled? The FBI noted Clinton periodically received the Presidential Daily Brief ‐ a top-secret document prepared by the CIA and other US intelligence agencies ‐ via the secure fax.

A 2012 "sensitive" but unclassified e-mail from Hanley to Clinton refers to a fax the staff wanted Clinton "to see before your Netanyahu mtg. Marina will grab for you."

Yet it appears Clinton was never asked by the FBI in its yearlong investigation to turn over the iMac Santos used to receive the e-mails, or the printer she used to print out the documents, or the printouts themselves.

Reality is weirder than a 'Get Smart' episode.

Because vermin like your spawn exist
HT Insty
[TheLibertyZone] The parents of an armed robber shot by a Pizza Hut employee are asking "why?"

They're asking why their son was shot by a restaurant worker, rather than law enforcement.

They're asking why the employee had a gun.

They're asking why their son was shot in the head.

The answers are short and sweet:

1) The reason why their son was shot by a restaurant worker rather than law enforcement is because law enforcement wasn't on the scene.
2) The reason why the employee had a gun is because vermin like their spawn exists.
3) The reason he was shot in the head is because he was carrying a handgun during the commission of a crime (edited to add) which was recovered at the scene.

Mommy dearest claims the shooting was personal because Michael Grace, Jr. was shot in the head.

Why does it matter? This scum and two of his friends walked into a restaurant armed and tried to rob the place. Period. It doesn't matter if the shooting was personal or not. Had he not been in there waving around a pistol, the wouldn't have been shot. Not in the leg. Not in the head. Not anywhere.

Mommy dearest claims her spawn wouldn't have hurt anyone. The very fact that he had a gun negates that claim.

She claims he'd fallen on hard times and turned to crime to provide for his child. You know… As a kid, I remember my parents hunting through other people's trash for clothing, furniture, and other necessities. Not once did they grab a gun and try to rob a restaurant! I wonder why that is! Perhaps because despite our financial difficulties, my parents are decent people who would never dream of committing an act of violence against another human being or taking by force what was not theirs?

What did these parents teach their spawn?

That his "rights" included treating others as prey? That he was entitled to assets that did not belong to him? That his need and "desperation" were claim checks to other people's earnings?

Their son died as a predator. He walked into a peaceable establishment and tried to make prey out of the employees there. And unfortunately for him, one of his intended prey decided "Not today, motherfucker."

#1  Comment from the article: Apparently business establishments capable of being robbed by armed violent criminals should never allow their employees to be armed because it’s too dangerous for the armed violent criminals.

Most (if not all) large chain stores prohibit concealed carry. Many also refuse to allow employees to confront shoplifters. Others refuse to call the police or jot down license numbers.

No bad publicity desired. Consequently, cash paying shoppers pick up the shrinkage tab. If this sounds like Obamacare at the retail level, perhaps it is !

#7  I feel for the parents losing a son, but this is another episode of "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes". If their little knucklehead had been shot by the cops, at least they would have the comfort of the community rioting, burning and looting on their behalf.

As noted in #1, most stores have a policy against fighting back due to liability concerns over collateral damage. However, the problem for the employees is uncertainty. Is the robber a Willie Sutton type who will grab the money, tip his hat and walk out the door whistling OR is he some low-rent criminal genius who has decided to kill all the witnesses so he can make his getaway unobserved. The victims just don't know and the cost of guessing wrong is extremely high. tl;dr: better to shoot than to die.

As for the shot in the head part, the general rule is aim for the center of mass. Maybe the guy just missed a bit, so to speak.

Donald Trump's Optimism
h/t Instapundit
When Americans go to the polls November 8, The New York Sun urges a vote for Donald Trump and Mike Pence. The Republican nominee, his running mate, and their party offer more promising principles for economic growth -- and full employment -- after the long years of stagnation. The GOP nominees vow to reverse the decline of our defense budget and back a more straightforward, less multilateral approach to foreign affairs. They would embrace the can-do spirit of American free market capitalism just when we need it most.

We understand how mystifying this endorsement is to many of our friends. We have never been among the haters of Hillary Clinton (or her husband, for whom our editor twice voted for president). We thrill to the rise of women. We are among the most liberal voices in respect of immigration. We oppose protection. Among the reasons we picked up the flag of the Sun in the first place is that for nearly two centuries it has stood for abolition, against racism, for equality before the law of constitutional government, and for a common American culture.

Nothing in this campaign convinces us that these principles stand a better chance under Mrs. Clinton and the Democrats than they do under Mr. Trump and the GOP. We deplore Mrs. Clinton’s attempt to make this contest a question not of policy and principle but of personality and fitness. The circumstantial corruption of the Clinton Foundation has shocked the nation and turned the fitness question back on the Democratic nominee. Neither of the Clintons is in a position to lecture Americans on morals.

This election is about our national direction.

I went to a Trump rally and all I got was groped
[Vox] "I got groped at a Trump rally" are words I thought would never come out of my mouth, but it's 2016, so I guess it's official evidence nothing matters anymore.

In an attempt to understand the women who continue to support Donald Trump, despite him being accused of sexually harassing or assaulting 17 women and having a history of deep-seated sexism, I attended a rally in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, to hear from the female supporters still standing by him.

"Seven out of 10 women probably have an unfavorable view of a lot of men," one woman told me as I shared Trump's high unfavorable numbers with her. Although she didn't make excuses for his behavior, she said she was more interested in conversations about the candidate's "policies."
And as we all know, it's more important that any captain not named Hillary be pure than whether or not he can save the ship from going down in the middle of the Arctic ocean.
The handful of women (and men) I interviewed presented a wide variety of reasons they backed the republican nominee, ranging from the way he's raised powerful assertive daughters to the promotion of women within his businesses. Although they all had different reasons to support him, they all shared a certain nonchalance toward Trump's sexual assault accusations. Given that hostility toward women predicts support for Trump, perhaps it's unsurprising this wasn't an issue big enough to sway these voters away.

The Trump supporter who pinched my rump (she also did it to a random stranger and my camera operator) insisted that groping is "all in fun" and unfairly taken seriously when men are the perpetuators. "If I were a man, I would be in jail today," she explained. When I asked if the man she grabbed minded, he said he welcomed more women doing it. "That's my point," she smiled with satisfaction.

So what does justice look like under Trump's America? I guess one version is a country where men and women have an equal right to grope.

Clinton Foundation Is The ‘Largest Unprosecuted Charity Fraud Ever' [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] Wall Street investment analyst Charles Ortel called the Clinton Foundation "the largest unprosecuted charity fraud ever attempted" before all the newly-exposed emails from campaign chairman John Podesta’s account were released from WikiLeaks.

The leaks have fortified his findings. The Wall Street investment analyst, who retired at 46 and prides himself on researching complex problems like General Electric and the credit crisis, has been fly-specking
According to the internet, the second definition of fly-specking is: Slang. To examine closely or in minute detail; scrutinize.
the Clinton Foundation since the spring of 2015.

Ortel explains why he believes the Clinton Foundation is a "crooked charity cooking the books" with over $2 billion dollars in revenue, in this exclusive video interview for The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Clintons, according to Ortel, have figured out how to turn their public service into a business. This charity is "a perfect gathering place and a front" to act as if you are helping others, when in fact they bring powerful people together, concocting deals and making people rich, including the Clintons, Ortel says.

#3  I doubt ISIS has much of a preference in the US presidential election.

The doctrine which requires muslims living in infidel territory to refrain from support of the infidel state goes back centuries and has been reinforced many times by various fatwa.

In the case of an election for president, muslim voters are giving an infidel (Hillary or Donald) authority over muslims which, in almost all circumstances, is violation of a Koranic verse (4:141).

Putin Appears with Trump in Flurry of Swing-State Rallies
[NewYorker] Infused with a sense of urgency as Election Day nears, the Trump campaign has enlisted President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, to appear with the Republican nominee in a dizzying array of swing-state rallies over the weekend.

Putin will be the most visible Trump surrogate in the final weekend of the campaign, as he tries to fire up voters in Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and Nevada.

The Russian President seemed to relish the warm response he got at his first Trump rally, in Tampa, where he led the crowd in a raucous chant of "Lock her up."

Trump praised Putin's talent for politics by noting that he had won the Russian election in 2012 by a landslide. "He got sixty-four per cent of the vote, and no one else even came close," Trump said. "He's terrific."
Actually, she manages to maintain a one point lead somehow.
Putin, whose English is rudimentary at best, kept his remarks brief at the Tampa rally, but echoed Melania Trump's recent call for an end to bullying.

A Republican strategist, Harland Dorrinson, called the Trump campaign's use of Putin in crucial battleground states "very, very smart."

"At this point, you really couldn't ask for a more effective surrogate," he said. "You'd much rather see Trump up there with Putin than with, say, Chris Christie."

While some in the media criticized the Trump campaign for allowing Putin to influence the outcome of a U.S. election, the Republican nominee's campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, pushed back in an appearance on CNN.

"This is just another case of media bias against Donald Trump," she said. "Jay Z and Beyonce, who have no experience in government at all, are allowed to campaign for Hillary Clinton, but Vladimir Putin, who actually runs an entire country, can't appear with Donald Trump? Come on."
This story is true because I found it on the internet.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
First, The Good News: Chelsea Manning Makes Second Suicide Attempt In Us Prison . . .
Sigh. Well, third time's the charm . . . .
Imprisoned transgender US soldier Chelsea Manning tried to commit suicide last month while serving time in solitary confinement for a first attempt in July, her representatives said Friday.

Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst sentenced to 35 years in prison for handing classified documents to anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, tried to kill herself on October 4, according to a statement she dictated to supporters by phone 11 days later and released by The New York Times.

American Civil Liberties Union rights group attorney Chase Strangio confirmed the attempt on Twitter.

"After her July suicide attempt, I watched her begin to piece her life and spirit back together only to have that shattered by the disciplinary proceedings brought against her and then the unannounced initiation of her term of punishment last month," Strangio said.

Manning's four-page statement, addressed to the inspector general of the intelligence community, indicates she attempted to commit suicide on the evening she was placed in solitary without prior notice.

She was later placed on suicide watch in a special housing area.
Should have staffed it with narcoleptics.
Much of the statement described strange events that she said took place on the night of October 10, less than a week after the suicide attempt. These included a simulated attack on the prison and a mock rescue attempt, in which she refused to participate.

The events could not immediately be independently verified.
That's understandable. Lots of what he has to do with can't be independently verified.
Manning, 28, who was previously known as Bradley, was convicted in 2013.

Manning ended a five-day hunger strike in September after the Army agreed to provide surgery to treat her gender dysphoria.
Try that refeeding thing. It's supposed to work miracles.
She was arrested in 2010 while serving as an intelligence analyst at a US base near Baghdad after sending 700,000 documents -- military war logs and US diplomatic cables -- to WikiLeaks.

Manning has repeatedly decried her treatment at a men's military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
What? I would think she would have liked being around a bunch of manly men. Take the new 'nads out for a spin.
The soldier has been hailed by supporters as a hero for exposing what they see as US abuses in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but denounced by prosecutors as a traitor who put country and comrades at risk.

#2  Chelsea Manning is not the villain here

A government that acted in the best interests of Saudi Arabia and not of the citizens of the US thanks to large donations is the problem.

Had that foreign influence not been buying policy since the Bush era, then invasion of Iraq would not have happened, since the issue of the Saudis using oil money to spread Islamist theocratic fascism would have been dealt with.

When the cold war ended so too should our alliance with Saudi Arabia

the only ethical stance was not to make alliance in the first place with theocratic human-rights graveyards and that kingdom is run by sharia.

During the cold war it was necessary to ally against the greater evil as communism did pose an existential threat.

But so does theocratic Islamism.

If only the intel agencies looked at that ideology and saw as big a threat as China perhaps we would not have seen the dark days we have or the worse ones we undoubtedly will be forced to suffer in future

and the still the Saudi money pours in unchecked.

#3  Bzzzzt. Wrong. Manning is a traitor and a freak
Posted by: Frank G || 11/06/2016 8:17 Comments || Top||

#4  i can understand why you'd be angry with manning for releasing classified info

I think the trigger incident that led her to release information was telling, and she was motivated by empathy and the belief that she was trying to do the right thing.

She didn't do it for money or prestige. She was not selling her country out in order to hurt it or to be a traitor.

motivations aside though, far greater damage has been and is being done to the US by the influence that foreign money has been allowed to buy at the highest levels in Washington.

how many lives have been damaged and lost, money wasted in this exercise of never ending middle east adventurism, all of which has been and always was going to be futile.

When Islamists flew planes into buildings on 9/11 they did so because of Saudi oil money spreading their ideology around the world

Without the influence that Saudi money had bought perhaps we would never have been in Iraq in the first place.

The Islamist goal was to remove secular governments and replace with sharia.

The Saudis pretended to be our allies against "terrorists" that have "nothing to do with islam" though the most cursory glance at their society would easily show them to be otherwise.

They lied. They are not our allies. They are the source of the problem, and their money clouded our strategic thinking at the highest levels.

I get the logic of going into Iraq. If they could have pulled it off it would have been magic. It's a keystone state between Saudi and Iran, the two problem theocracies. If it had been made a prosperous democratic state, it would have solved the problem of backwards Islamism with the threat of a good example of how Muslims can prosper.

But that could never have worked and the reason is Islam.

Islam turns every democracy into either a secular dictatorship or a theocracy over time, because of the nature of the belief system.

But our policy makers and strategists were not allowed to consider this because the cult of "nothing to do with Islam" was promoted and opposition censored and crushed.

And why did that happen?

Saudi money

The reason we fail and have wasted so much for so long is Saudi influence

It is like those zombie ants you see with the fungus growing out of their heads. The fungus is now controlling the ants. Not good for the ants. Not good for us.

So I understand why you are angry at Chelsea manning

but she is not your real problem.

#8  Let's go back another step: Manning is not a female whose body needs to be adjusted to match. Manning is a fully adult male with a severe case of maltreated body dysmorphic disorder. The longitudinal studies Johns Hopkins scientists and others have done show that giving such people the sex change surgeries they demand does not make them happier for very long, and has no significant impact on their anxiety, depression, or rate of suicide attempts and completions.

#10  You are correct, trailing wife,re the treatment implications of Manning's post-modern problem. The NYT narrative suggests the release of classified info was an irrational act caused by sexual identify "stressors" feed by a homophobic military culture. It was in fact a carefully calculated action which required several steps that imply harmful intent. In addition, Manning was not sentenced to solitary confinement for a suicide attempt. He/she was placed in protective custody for observation and treatment in a single cell most likely on a behavioral management unit. This no doubt standard procedure.

Police said ’A’, a resident of Shehr Sultan, eloped with a man she allegedly had an affair with a few days ago. Rasool Bakhsh suspected his sister had facilitated her daughter’s elopement and he, along with others, tortured her with clubs and a sharp-edged weapon which resulted in fractures on her legs.

Police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against seven suspects on the complaint of another daughter of the woman and arrested Rasool Bakhsh. They said the absconders would be arrested at the earliest.

Countering violent extremism
[DAWN] POLITICAL turmoil is fast becoming a permanent feature of Pakistain’s state of affairs. While political opposition and dissent are generally deemed positive democratic norms, in Pakistain’s context, however, these are increasingly becoming non-events that merely consume the energies of the people, state institutions and policymakers.

Political turmoil also distracts us from other formidable issues. Iraq
Iraqi troops battle Islamic State for last town south of Mosul
Iraqi troops advancing towards Mosul battled on Saturday for the last town left between them and the Islamic State stronghold to the north, which is already under assault from special forces fighting inside the city's eastern districts, Reuters reported.

Saturday's attack on Hammam al-Alil, about 15 km (10 miles) south of Mosul, targeted a force of at least 70 Islamic State fighters in the Tigris river town, commander of the Mosul operations Major-General Najm al-Jabouri said. Jabouri said the assault began around 10 a.m. (0700 GMT) and some militants had tried to flee run away escape across the river, although others put up heavy resistance and the troops had thwarted three attempted suicide car bombings.

"(The battle) is very important - it's the last town for us before Mosul," Jabouri told reporters. Iraqi helicopters were supporting the army, he said, backed also by jets from a U.S.-led air coalition which had been hitting Islamic State targets in the town for several days.

A military statement said security forces had raised the Iraqi flag over a government building in the town, but did not say whether it was fully under their control.

The operation to regain control over Mosul began in the morning of Oct. 17. In addition to Iraq’s government forces, local Peshmerga paramilitaries participate in the operation. The operation is supported by international anti-terrorism coalition air force.

Vandals hit Donald Trump’s Denver campaign office
[DenverPost] A brick wall on the side of Donald Trump’s campaign office in Denver was vandalized late Thursday or early Friday by a perpetrator or perpetrators who wrote foul language and called the Republican presidential nominee a "thief" and "pervert" in big, block letters. The building’s windows were also defaced.

Sonny Jackson, Denver police front man, said a call was made at 7:20 a.m. about anti-Trump graffiti.

"It’s an anti message. We’ll investigate it using all the tools we have at our disposal including viewing (footage from security cameras) to determine who did this," Jackson said.

Later, at about 9 p.m. Friday, Trump staffers reported a rock tossed through a window of the same headquarters. Television footage from the scene showed a hole slightly bigger than a softball in the window.

This isn’t Denver’s first case of political graffiti this election season. Earlier this year, a mural portraying Democrat Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
in the city’s Five Points neighborhood was marked with the words "loser," "sellout" and "traitor" after he endorsed Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as Deplorable, Irredeemable and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Walter Q. Gresham ...

UN accuses Somali Govt of failing to pay soldiers’ salaries
A UN report criticized the Somali government for failing to pay soldiers’ salaries, which led to withdrawals from areas in the south and center of the country that allowed Shabaab forces to return. It cited continued corruption and a likely misappropriation of funds and supplies intended for soldiers, some of which came from outside countries.
And if there's anyone on the planet who knows about corruption and misappropriation of funds, it's the Clinton Foundation United Nations...
Attacks on AMISOM have continued, the report said, including a deadly twin truck bombing of a Kenyan military compound in January that left some 150 soldiers.

Allied to Al-Qaeda since 2012, the Shabaab controlled Mogadishu for several years until it was pushed out in 2011. But the extremist group continues to fight to overthrow the Western-backed government.

Z-man: Call me Swamp Thing
Way back in the Clinton Administration, I had the opportunity to socialize with Chris Mathews at a small dinner function. It was one of those charity deals where they have some important person give a little speech and chit-chat with the attendees. This was before Mathews had his mental breakdown so he was good fun, despite being a Lefty. People forget that he was not great fan of the Clintons, even though he was always a loyal party man.

This was the mid-90’s and the Drudge Report had just gone up as a website. Americans were flocking to computer stores to buy modems so they could use that AOL disk they got in the mail. I forget what we were discussing, but at some point I got the impression that Mathews simply had no idea the internet existed. I made mention of something about on-line news and Mathews had this puzzled look, then said, “Oh, you mean that internet thing.” He was unaware of the biggest technological event since the steam engine.

It is a story I like to tell as way to illustrate that people in the national media don’t live in America like the rest of us. The old joke in DC was that the big media outfits sent their foreign correspondents to cover stories in Ohio. That’s an exaggeration, but our national media does live in bubble. They can, when they feel like it, do a good job telling the rest of us about the doings in politics, but otherwise they are baffled about what happens out among the Dirt People. You see that in this Megan McArdle column.

Tribal leader escapes assassination attempt in Benghazi
[Libya Observer] Magharba tribe leader from Ajdabiya has survived an liquidation attempt in Benghazi on Friday, local sources reported.

Saleh Atawish was departing a mosque after performing Friday prayer in Sidi Faraj district when his car went off.

He sustained minor injuries, the sources said.

The war-torn city has been plunged into political murder. Last week, the head of Libyan Anti-Corruption Organization Mohammed Abu Gaiqis was killed in a boom-mobile kaboom in al-Kish square, one day before 10 bodies were found in a landfill site in Ziat Street. Two of the bodies were identified as Farhat Migherhi and Hussien Sharief, both are political opponents to Dignity Operation.

A Simple Guide to the Clinton Foundation Corruption
Clinton corruption summary here

Easy to read, with links to original emails. It's not just Saudi buying policy and funding IS. It's climate change scams as well

Trump / Pence campaign propaganda. But it's a correct statement: it is indeed a simple guide; and anon1 is correct, it's easy to read with lots of links. This is the sort of opposition attack that Trump should have been doing all along.

#2  thanks a lot for posting this

this is the best thing i've ever read

it's come out of crowd-sourced research - people trawled the wikileaks Podesta files and put together a dossier - just a small dossier, part of the whole - of the Clinton corruption

the Saudi money is the worst. Hillary knew they funded Islamic State and other Islamist groups in the region, and still she sold them policy favours at State.

but interesting is the "green energy" doddle where they bilk taxpayer funds via the UN

Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt, compromised candidate ever to run for the Oval Office

My hopes and thoughts are with you when you go to vote

I hope you can keep her out of there

electing her would be like electing the Saudi/Qataris straight to the white house

Sorry Divers: You're Not Exempt From Teh War On Wimminz
Diver magazine link.

Photo at the top slightly undermines the point

I need to check Woodworking Magazine to see if there's any juicy SJWisms to trigger muh feelz over there as well.

When we speak of media bias, it's important to remember that we're not just talking about the usual suspects like NYT, CNN, etc.

This crap is EVERYWHERE--which is what makes it so insidious.
Well. I shall relate an experience.

One of my best friends and dearest colleagues at work is a woman in my specialty. She's an outstanding clinical investigator in her area and (if one is sufficiently shallow as a western male to rate these things) quite attractive. As a young faculty person she, like the rest of us, would go to our annual national professional meeting. There was, at one part of the conference center (think of a place like Moscone in SF or McCormick in Chicago) the usual vendor fair with all the pharma companies, equipment makers, publishers, etc.

I tell you this because one of the major vendors each year offered medical exercise testing equipment for "cardiopulmonary" exercise testing as part of their booth. This was a treadmill or ergometer with computers, accessories, and so on for clinical testing. It was quite a rig, took up a lot of area at the booth, and was quite expensive to purchase or lease.

And always, always, always, every year without fail, the vendor would have a "representative" -- a professional model -- on the treadmill to demonstrate the rig. And she always, always, always wore pink or lavender spandex.

Understand that spandex isn't a requirement to be tested. If you're a patient undergoing one of these tests you're advised to wear comfortable exercise clothes. So you'd have to be particularly clueless to miss the point of the professional model (always blonde, by the way) in pink spandex.

My colleague decided that she had had enough. So one afternoon she approached the vendor's chief representative at the conference and quietly read him the riot act -- that she, my colleague, would put the word out to everyone she knew that no one, NO ONE, should buy this vendor's equipment because of the odious sexism. She didn't make a public scene but she made clear that if disregarded she would go to war.

The next day the model on the treadmill was wearing sweats.

And the conference the following year? No model. Lo and behold, you didn't need a model in pink spandex to sell medical testing equipment. Who would have ever guessed?

My admiration for my colleague, already quite high, grew even more after that.

My point? Yes, a fair bit of what's in the news today is nonsense perpetrated by fools and feminists. But there indeed sexism in our society, and we have to be willfully blind not to acknowledge when we see it.

All that to say this: I looked at the Diver article at the link. The woman has a point.

International-UN-NGOs
Pro-Israel European alliance prepares to fight massive anti-Israel campaign in 2017
[Jpost] A European organization dedicated to rallying support for Israel announced Thursday it would confront a massive anti-Israel campaign anticipated in 2017 with an initiative of its own.

Speaking at an event at the Carlton Hotel in Tel Aviv, Swiss MP Corina Eichenberger-Walther said she had "reliable information that a network has been building itself since the middle of the past year already, a network planning a campaign throughout Europe and having started the necessary funding for that."

The goal, she said, was to malign Israel during the year of the 50th anniversary of the Six Day War, in which the IDF captured east Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gazoo Strip, Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights.

Israel, she said, will be accused of "having oppressed Paleostine for 50 years and occupying it contrary to international law" and be painted as an "apartheid state and unjust nation."

Eichenberger-Walther chairs the European Alliance for Israel (EAI), of which the Israeli-Swiss Association, which hosted Thursday’s event alongside the Israel-Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
and Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce, is a member. The new Swiss ambassador to Israel, Jean-Daniel Ruch, also participated.

Predicting that international organizations and governments would join the ranks of the anti-Israel network, the EAI decided to develop what Eichenberger-Walther called a "friendship campaign."

According to the EAI, it already has some 30,000 members in 23 countries and plans to make the campaign prominent in those countries.

In a closed-door session with a small group of journalists, Eichenberger-Walther admitted that the EAI had a way to go in order to counter the force of the expected anti-Israel campaign, noting that the hostile movement comprised not just BDS supporters, but also church and humanitarian groups.

"It’s a network," she stressed, emphasizing that it had been raising funds for the campaign for over a year and was "ready" to begin its activities. She added that the EAI’s counter-campaign still lacked funds to realize its full scope, which will be focused on creating a greater understanding of Israel and highlighting its positive qualities in the fields of research, science, the environment, democracy and security.

One body founded by the EAI is the European Parliamentary Alliance for Israel, which seeks to unite pro-Israel parliamentarians.

While the defamation campaign will apparently present Israel as a lawless state, the EAI, she said, was working to ensure that there would be a strong parliamentary voice in Europe that "makes clear that Israel, with all its weaknesses and faults, is a democratic state that has a freely elected parliament and an independent judiciary."

In the Swiss parliament, pro-Israel MPs have been working against government funding for anti-Israel NGOs, some of which have links to terrorist groups. A motion on the issue this year lost by just three votes, but Eichenberger-Walther said she believed government awareness about the issue had increased and it would now be more careful with its funding activities.

Members of the Israeli-Swiss Association have been in Israel for a week, meeting with politicians and representatives of the government. Eichenberger- Walther remarked that discussions with her Israeli counterparts had been fruitful, and their collaboration would help advance the campaign.

The EAI is a relatively new organization, officially founded in May 2015. It comprises mainly non-Jewish members who strive to show solidarity with Jewish communities in Europe.

Europe
Austria: EU must prepare borders for end of Turkey migrant deal
[DeutscheWelle] Austria's defense minister has said the European Union's migrant deal with Turkey is dead. The EU must now prepare to strengthen its external borders, he added

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
should bolster its border defenses against another influx of migrants colonists in anticipation of the possible collapse of the bloc's refugee deal with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, Austria's defense minister said Saturday.

"I have always said that the EU-Turkey deal should only be a stop-gap measure until the EU is in the position to effectively protect its external borders and thereby stem the flow of migrants colonists," Hans Peter Doskozil told the German daily "Bild" in an interview.

"The time to organize for that is ever closer," he said, adding that he invited defense ministers from Central European states to Vienna early next week to discuss joint measures and the situation in Turkey.

Doskozil's comments come as the EU-Turkey migrant deal, which went into effect in March, has encountered a number of stumbling blocks even as it has reduced the number of migrants colonists arriving in Greece.

Under the deal, Turkey agreed to take back Syrian migrants colonists in Greece who did not apply for or did not receive asylum in the EU in exchange for aid and the bloc taking a set amount of Syrian refugees directly from Turkey.

But since the deal went into effect, migrants colonists who previously tried to reach richer northern European states before applying for asylum have put in applications in Greece. This has slowed down deportations back to Turkey and left Greece overburdened as applications are processed. The EU, meanwhile, has been slow to develop a refugee distribution plan as countries, mainly in central and eastern Europe, refuse to accept asylum-seekers.

The refugee hotel in Greece
Political developments in Turkey have also cast the deal into doubt. Doskozil said Turkey was "on its way to becoming a dictatorship," a reference to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
's consolidation of power and targeting of the opposition.

The political situation in Turkey makes implementation of another part of the migrant deal problematic. Under the agreement, Turkish citizens are to obtain visa-free travel to the bloc, but EU officials have questioned whether this will happen due to draconian anti-terror laws and the deterioration of democracy in Turkey. The security situation and instability in Turkey also casts doubt over whether it is a "safe country" to return migrants colonists.

Absent visa-free travel, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu this week suggested his country would pull out of the deal by year's end.

Vienna has allied itself with the Visegrad group - Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic - against the EU's migrant policy. Earlier this year, Austria was instrumental in the closure of the Balkan route used by migrants colonists to travel to northern Europe after it tightened its border controls and set a ceiling on asylum applications.

Also earlier this week, Austria sent 60 troops to Hungary to help build infrastructure along the border with non-EU member Serbia.

Austrians head to the polls on December 4 for a rerun presidential election that pits anti-immigration and eurosceptic Freedom Party (FPO) candidate Norbert Hofer against the left-leaning Alexander Van der Bellen. Migration has been a centerpiece of the campaign.

Turkish police detained two people who failed to stop despite warnings at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport on Saturday night as the airport was placed under a brief lockdown, Daily Sabah reported.

The security officials closed off all entry and exit points at the airport during the hunt for the two suspects. One of them reportedly fired his gun into the air as police officers shot him immediately, causing minor injuries.

Turkey's "coup" response and anti-Kurd effort merge
Turkey: 9 opposition newspaper staff formally arrested

[Ynet] Opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper says a court has ordered that its chief editor and eight senior staff be jailed pending trial.

Editor-in-chief Murat Sabuncu, cartoonist Musa Kart and other staff were detained for questioning earlier this week -- some following raids at their homes -- for allegedly supporting Kurdish militants as well as a movement led by Fethullah Gulen, the US-based Muslim cleric whom Turkey accuses of masterminding the failed coup in July.

The court ruled for their formal arrests on Saturday.

Turkey detains 9 more officials of pro-Kurdish HDP party

[Ynet] Turkish authorities detained nine officials from the country's main pro-Kurdish opposition party on Saturday, a party official said, a day after the party's leaders were formally arrested. The nine officials included the provincial and district heads of the pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the southeastern province of Adana, the official said.

HDP co-leaders Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag were arrested on Friday as part of a terrorism investigation, prompting strong international condemnation of a widening crackdown on dissent under President Tayyip Erdogan.

Head of Turkey's pro-Kurdish opposition taken to prison

[Ynet] Turkey's state-run news agency says the leader of the pro-Kurdish opposition party has been taken to a maximum security prison in the northwestern city of Edirne.

The Anadolou agency said Saturday that Selahattin Demirtas, co-chair of the People's Democratic Party or HDP, was among the 12 party legislators detained overnight for refusal to testify on terror-related charges.

Demirtas, along with fellow co-chair Figen Yuksekdag and seven other lawmakers were formally put under arrest pending trial. The courts released three others on condition they report regularly to authorities.

The private Dogan News Agency said Yuksekdag was taken to a maximum security prison in the northwestern city of Kocaeli.

Istanbul police break up protest with tear gas, plastic bullets

[AlAhram] Istanbul police on Saturday used tear gas, water cannon and plastic bullets to break up a protest by hundreds of people against the arrest of pro-Kurdish Turkish deputies. The protestors demonstrated outside the main mosque in the Sisli district on the European side of the city shouting slogans denouncing the "fascist" state and vowing "we will not be silent".

But police rapidly moved in, dispersing the crowds by spraying torrents of freezing water from trucks, using tear gas and firing plastic bullets, AFP correspondents said.

The protest came after nine MPs from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), including its two co-leaders, were jailed on Friday ahead of trial on terror charges.

Nacta recommends banning Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi al Alami
[DAWN] The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) on Saturday forwarded names of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
al Alami (LJ-A) to the Ministry of Interior recommending banning of the murderous Moslem groups.

"Nacta has recommended Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi al Alami to be included in the list of proscribed organizations," said the letter written by Nacta to the Ministry of Interior.

JuA emerged in August 2014 after splitting from the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP).

It has carried a number of attacks in Pakistain against military personnel, law-enforcement agencies (LEAs), government buildings, politicians, religious minorities and lawyers.

JuA also grabbed credit of the attack on lawyers in Quetta on August 8 this year which claimed 70 lives.

Earlier in August, the US State Department designated JuA as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

The list of banned or proscribed organizations by Ministry of Interior contains 61 groups and the addition of two more murderous Moslem outfits will increase the number of banned outfits to 63 in the country.

Nacta has also recommended Lashkar-e-Jhangvi al Alami (LJ-A) to be placed in the list of proscribed terrorist organizations.

The group grabbed credit of attacking Police Training Academy in Quetta on October 25 in which 61 cadets were killed.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi al Alami is a splinter group of banned Lashar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) involved in sectarian violence across the country and particularly in Quetta and Bloody Karachi

Benghazi police arrests cops over theft charges
[Libya Observer] The Libyan News Agency of al-Thanni government in the east has reported that Benghazi police department has caught some of the city’s cops red-handed as they were trying to sell a car from the Benghazi Security Department in the market.

The news agency reported the head of the media office of the criminal investigation department, Walid al-Arfi, said the city’s police patrols busted the cops after they tried to steal a Toyota pertaining to the department.

"The corrupted cops had reported that their Toyota was burnt in one of the frontlines before they got caught trying to sell it." al-Arfi added.

He indicated that upon tracking the information regarding the car, it turned out it was hidden in a farm in Benghazi suburbs, and then the police stormed the farm and found the car along with the cops.

The cops were on a deal to sell it to somebody for huge sum of money, al-Arfi concluded.

The Donald is rushed off the stage by Secret Service while speaking during Reno rally
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Secret Service agents rushed Donald Trump offstage on Saturday evening during a rally in Reno, Nevada after they determined a protester in the audience might pose a threat to the Republican presidential candidate.

'Go! Go!' agents shouted as they whisked Trump away and a combination of local police and private security wrestled Austyn Crites, 33, to the ground in the front of the crowd.

Crites identifies as a 'Republican' who supports Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to his Facebook page.

A senior Trump campaign official told DailyMail.com that the suspect, whom rally-goers already identified as an anti-Trump protester, caused a panic when he reached into his waistband.

At that point, the campaign official said, a voice called out: 'He's got a gun!'

Trump's protective detail sprang into action, pulling him offstage as a sea of bodies scattered, screams rang out and authorities dragged Crites away as he kicked and strained.

Europe
Report: German military intelligence finds 20 Islamists in Bundeswehr
[DeutscheWelle] The German government is planning security checks on all Bundeswehr applicants from July 2017 after 20 Islamists were uncovered in the army, a report says. It said 60 more suspects in the ranks were being investigated.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen will soon propose legislation to carry out security checks on every aspiring Bundeswehr recruit, after the military counterespionage service (MAD) identified 20 Islamists in army ranks, a media report said on Saturday

The draft law, to be considered by German parliament in the coming weeks, could result in the army holding 20,000 additional security checks per year, the report from German publisher Funke Mediengruppe said.

Up to now, the law has allowed security checks on recruits only after they have been taken on by the Bundeswehr.

Growing security concerns
A front man for MAD said 60 additional potential cases in the Bundeswehr were under investigation for suspected links to Islamist murderous Moslems.

He said recruiting offices had received an undisclosed number of queries from people wanting to join the military for just a few months to undergo intensive weapons and equipment training.

Such queries have bolstered concerns that Islamist groups might be trying to gain military training for their supporters by having them join the Bundeswehr. MAD already warned early last year that radical Islamists holy warriors could be abusing the opportunities offered by the army.

In the draft law, the Defense Ministry refers to incidents in which Islamist forces of Evil in other countries, such as Afghanistan, have urged members of the military to attack their own colleagues or allied armed forces.

German security services are on high alert after two Islamist murderous Moslem attacks this summer. The arrival of some 900,000 migrants colonists last year, many of them from the Middle East, has also fueled fears that Islamist Death Eaters might have entered the country as pretend asylum-seekers.

Iraq
Human Shields, Barricades Slow Iraqi Advance Into Mosul
Just the newer stuff here.
Islamic State fighters launched counterattacks Saturday against Iraqi special forces in eastern Mosul, emerging from populated areas deeper in the city to target the troops with mortars and suicide car bombs in clashes that raged late into the night.

Artillery shelling thundered across the city as snipers traded fire from rooftops and civilians emerged from the front lines waving white flags. There were fresh indications that other residents were being held back by the militants to be used as human shields.

The seesawing battle highlights the challenges ahead for Iraqi forces as they press into more densely populated neighborhoods of the country's second largest city, where they will not be able to rely as much on airstrikes because of the risk of killing civilians.

"Daesh is in the city center and we must be very careful as our forces advance," said Maj. Gen. Sami al-Aridi of the Iraqi special forces, using the Arabic acronym for IS.

The special forces entered the Gogjali district, on the eastern edge of Mosul, on Tuesday, marking their first major foray into the city itself after more than two weeks of fighting in its rural outskirts.

IS fought back Saturday, pushing the special forces from the southern edge of the neighborhood. Both sides fired mortar rounds and automatic weapons, while the Iraqi troops also responded with artillery. Snipers dueled from rooftops in residential areas, where most buildings are just two stories high.

Dozens of civilians emerged from their homes over the course of the day, some carrying white flags. Many civilians traveling with children and elderly relatives said they had to walk more than 6 miles (10 kilometers) to reach a camp for the displaced.

Just a few kilometers (miles) from the clashes, Iraqi officers coordinating airstrikes with the U.S.-led coalition watched live drone footage showing a team of IS fighters regrouping near the front line.

"They're moving in front of the mosque," an Iraqi soldier said as he called in an airstrike, which moments later flattened a small building. Civilians moved into the area soon thereafter, and the soldiers said the militants appeared to have corralled them there to prevent further strikes.

"Daesh have continued to hide behind civilians and facilitate harm to them," said Col. John Dorrian, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition, which has been launching airstrikes to aid the Iraqi advance.
They're acting like Paleostinians...
It's all the same culture.
He said Iraqi forces and the coalition "developed a plan that is intended to reduce the possibility of civilian casualties and collateral damage."

But Iraqi Cpt. Naqib Jaff, who was covered in dust after helping to hold positions east of Mosul overnight, said the air support "hasn't been enough" and that the coalition was only striking suicide car bombs. He said that in previous operations against IS-held towns and cities, civilians would be moved away from the front lines, allowing forces to advance. But he said in Mosul, his men have been ordered to keep families inside their homes.

"We've never been in such a situation before. We would be fighting and there would be a family right next to us," he said.

The government has ordered residents to stay inside, fearing a mass exodus from the city, which is still home to more than 1 million people.

The advance of the Iraqi forces was also slowed by fortifications erected by the extremists in the more than two years since they captured the city. Trenches and berms have turned the streets and alleyways of a neighborhood once named after former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein into a maze.

Satellite images show rows of concrete barricades, earthen mounds and rubble blocking key routes into the city center. The images, taken Monday by Stratfor, a U.S.-based private intelligence firm, showed that IS fighters have cleared terrain and leveled buildings around Mosul airport and a nearby former military base on the west bank of the Tigris.

Mother Jones: DNC Officials Told FBI of Evidence That Offices May Have Been Bugged
The Democratic National Committee recently told the FBI that it collected evidence last month suggesting that its Washington offices had been bugged, two party officials told Mother Jones magazine.

"We were told that this was something that could pick up calls from cellphones," one official said about a radio signal found near the chairman's office that indicated that a listening device might be located outside the office. "The guys who did the sweep said it was a strong indication."

No device was recovered, however. No possible culprits were identified, according to the report.

Mysterious banners call on COAS to contest next general election
[DAWN] Mysterious banners urging Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif

In bold letters, the banners call for 'no extension but reduction' -- asking for reduction from two to one year the minimum duration before a retired government servant can enter politics as well as urging General Raheel to enter the political arena and contest national elections in 2018.

The banners call on the government and the opposition to bring to an end "their divisive

The banners say there was hope that by taking part in the elections, [General] Raheel's party "will secure majority votes and he will be elected prime minister, leading the country on the path to becoming a success".

The posters name a Sheikh Rasheed Amjad Ali, member of a group called the Awami Monitoring Cell (Rawalpindi), as the man who has organised the campaign.

Karachi sectarian attacks
[DAWN] DESPITE efforts by the state to bring peace to Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, sectarian killings in the metropolis continue, putting a question mark on official claims. Within a week, over 10 people have been murdered in the Sindh capital in suspected sectarian attacks. On Friday, six people were bumped off in different parts of Karachi. Three men, reportedly workers of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat
...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
, were rubbed out while returning from a rally organised by the outfit. In the other incidents, two members of the relatively apolitical Tableeghi Jamaat, along with a prayer leader, were murdered in separate incidents. The killings come in the wake of the recent attack on a women’s majlis in Nazimabad, in which five people, including three brothers, were murdered. Police say Friday’s violence could be a reaction to the earlier incident. On Saturday, police took into custody former PPP senator Faisal Raza Abidi in connection with the killing of the Tableeghi Jamaat members.

It is hoped these acts of violence do not inspire more tit-for-tat attacks. Community leaders, Learned Elders of Islam and the state must all play their role in ensuring communal harmony. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
it should be reiterated that there is no Shia-Sunni conflict at the communal level in Pakistain as such. This country has thankfully been spared much of the communal frenzy witnessed in certain Middle Eastern states. Here, outfits like Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain
...a Sunni Deobandi organization, a formerly registered Pak political party, established in the early 1980s in Jhang by Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. Its stated goal is to oppose Shia influence in Pakistain. They're not too big on Brelvis, either. Or Christians. Or anybody else who's not them. The organization was banned in 2002 as a terrorist organization, but somehow it keeps ticking along, piling up the corpse counts...
(ASWJ’s old name) and its more virulent spin-off Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
have, over the past three decades, played an instrumental role in bringing the culture of takfir (declaring others as being outside the pale of Islam) to the mainstream, along with physically eliminating the sectarian ’others’. This, in response, gave rise to Shia bully boy groups such as Sipah-e-Mohammad. Throughout this period, the state’s response to the growth of sectarian militancy has been dismal, as ’banned’ outfits have operated with relative ease. Hence, to put an end to the recurring cycles of sectarian violence, the state must permanently dismantle the outfits that provide the ideological and material support for violence.

DSP among three police officials booked on murder charge
[DAWN] LAKKI MARWAT: Three police officials, including a DSP, have been booked on charge of murder and other offences following court orders, a source disclosed to Dawn here on Friday.

The source said the complainant Ghazi Khela, widow of Dildar Khan, had filed a petition in the court of district and sessions judge, stating that eight members of her family had been killed by rivals over a blood feud. "Our rivals are rich and influential people who influenced DSP Afsar Khan, SHO Damsaz Khan along with a police party to besiege our house in Tajori town in July last," she claimed. She said the cops hurled a hand grenade and also opened fire resulting into killing of her son, Qadeerullah (10), and inflicting wounds to Noor Sajida, Wazira and Asma Bibi.

The woman pointed out that neither any proclaimed offender was present in her house nor weapons were dumped there when police conducted the raid.

She requested the district and sessions judge to order registration of FIR against police officials and direct quarters concerned to conduct an impartial investigation into the case.

On court orders police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against DSP Afsar Khan, SHO Damsaz Khan, ASI Nizam Khan and other coppers under sections 302, 324, 148, 149, 449 of Pakistain Penal Code and explosives act, the source maintained.

Police claimed that on July 13, DSP Lakki Afsar Khan, SHO Tajori Damsaz Khan, two passers-by identified as Waheed and Noor Aslam and three women had sustained bullet wounds in a shootout with a proclaimed offender named Gulnawar in Tajori area. During the shootout and a hand grenade kaboom a minor, Qadeerullah, was killed while the outlaw managed to escape. They claimed that the outlaw was brother-in-law of the woman.

Meanwhile,

Nigerian army finds kidnapped Chibok girl with '10-month-old son'
[DeutscheWelle] Troops have rescued one of the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by the jihadist group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
in April 2014. The girl was carrying her 10-month-old son when she was found by troops screening Boko Haram escapees.

Nigerian military front man Sani Usman said that the girl, identified as Maryam Ali Maiyanga, was discovered by troops screening escapees from the Boko Haram's base in the Sambisa forest, near the Cameroon

border.

"She was discovered to be carrying a 10-month-old son," named Ali, Usman said. "She has been taken to the unit's medical facility for (a) proper medical check up."

The campaign group Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), which has close ties to relatives of the kidnapped girls confirmed the release. "We are happy with the news... We have confirmed the name of the freed girl to be among those on our data base," BBOG campaigner Aisha Yesufu told the news agency AFP. "Our hope is that the government will work towards an early release of the remaining girls so that we can bring this sad episode to a close."

The campaign group said that Maiyanga, who was number 198 on its register of the kidnapped girls, was from Askira Uba in the Borno district and was kidnapped along with her twin, who remains missing.

The rescue came just three weeks after 21 of the kidnapped Chibok girls were released following negotiations between the military and Boko Haram, which were brokered by the Red Thingy and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
Aside from last month's release, the military previously managed to recover just one other of the missing schoolgirls, in May near the border of Sambisa forest.

Is there a reason why this is being discussed in the news? I would have assumed we had a competent counter-cyber team that could melt the best of Russian servers. Why are we talking about it in public the week before the election?
American officials have long said publicly that Russia, China and other nations have probed and left hidden malware on parts of U.S critical infrastructure, "preparing the battlefield," in military parlance, for cyber attacks that could turn out the lights or turn off the internet across major cities.

It's been widely assumed that the U.S. has done the same thing to its adversaries. The documents reviewed by NBC News -- along with remarks by a senior U.S. intelligence official -- confirm that, in the case of Russia.

U.S. officials continue to express concern that Russia will use its cyber capabilities to try to disrupt next week's presidential election. U.S. intelligence officials do not expect Russia to attack critical infrastructure -- which many believe would be an act of war -- but they do anticipate so-called cyber mischief, including the possible release of fake documents and the proliferation of bogus social media accounts designed to spread misinformation.

On Friday the hacker known as "Guccifer 2.0" -- which U.S. officials say is a front for Russian intelligence -- tweeted a threat to monitor the U.S. elections "from inside the system."

The Grand Turk
IS group-linked Amaq says Islamist militants behind Turkey bombing: SITE
[AlAhram] A news outlet linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group said its fighters staged a bombing that killed nine people in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, according to US-based monitors, after Ankara blamed Kurdish bandidos gunnies for the attack.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Friday's bombing was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) which has regularly targeted security forces since ending a truce in 2015.

The early morning attack on a police headquarters in the Kurdish-majority of Diyarbakir left nine people dead, including two police, and over 100 maimed.

It left a swathe of devastation, blowing out the entire front of a nearby apartment block and leaving the surroundings covered in rubble. Emergency workers on Saturday began to sift through the damage while residents arrived to pick up whatever belongings they could salvage, an AFP photographer said.

The pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) said six of its MPs, including its co-leaders, had narrowly escaped injury in the attack as they were being held in the cop shoppe following their detention overnight.

The US-based SITE Intelligence Group cited an "insider source" for the IS group -affiliated Amaq news agency as saying that "Fighters from the Islamic State detonated an explosives-laden vehicle parked in front of a Turkish police headquarters in Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey."

If confirmed, the claim would be the first ever by IS group for an attack in Turkey, although it has been blamed over the last year for a series of strikes against Kurdish activists, tourists and on Istanbul airport.

There has so far been no denial or claim of responsibility from the PKK.

The HDP meanwhile said its co-leaders Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag as well as four other MPs had been brought to the cop shoppe overnight after their detention early Friday.

It said in a statement Demirtas had been taken to court just before the attack and Yuksekdag was in the complex when it happened.

Without directly saying its MPs were the target, it noted that the minibus packed with explosives had blown up early following an alert from a taxi driver.

"All the facts must be revealed about this attack which was planned to be even more devastating and did not reach its intended target," the HDP said.

Demirtas and Yuksekdag have been transferred by air to prisons in the western regions of Edirne and Kocaeli respectively, well away from Diyarbakir.

Pennsylvania State Police Stage Voter Fraud Sting
[Lifezette] Company allegedly forging registrations in Keystone State also signed up phony voters in Ohio.

Pennsylvania state police have raided two offices of a voter registration group, just as the election approaches in what could be a crucial state.

Police raided the Philadelphia office of FieldWorks LLC’s office on Thursday after raiding another office in Delaware County, Pa., just days earlier.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the police used a warrant seeking forms that could be used to "construct fraudulent voter registration forms" and "completed voter registration forms containing same or similar identifying information of individuals on multiple forms."

The Washington-based group has pledged to work with state police, the Inquirer reported.

Attorney General Bruce Beemer suggested to the Inquirer that the group was employing registrants who were cutting corners to meet quotas. One way to do that is to re-register existing voters with subtle spelling differences in their names.

That technique sounds familiar, because FieldWorks did it in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, according to Logan Churchwell, communications director for True the Vote, the voter-fraud watchdog. The group had previously signed up phony voters in the Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,
...was ruled by a Democrat machine from 1942 through 1971. After the river caught fire during the administration of Carl Stokes they tried a Republican, then went back to being Democrats when the party hacked up Dennis Kucinich ...
area, said Churchwell.

And Churchwell agrees that in many cases, the volunteers or the paid staff are looking to meet quotas for new voters. Late Thursday, the Inquirer reported that FieldWorks fired Ruthann Alexander for not meeting an unofficial quota of 18 people per day.

FieldWorks could also claim it registered some persons already on the voter rolls, some persons who forgot they were already signed up. But that doesn't explain why county election officials didn't catch those cases, in Ohio or elsewhere. Churchwell says identifying information that is supposed to help officials catch that, like the last four numbers of Social Security number, are always off by a digit or two. So the phony registrants stay on the voter rolls.

But what bothers election watchdogs is that in many cases observed in past elections in Cleveland, both the real person and the phony voter voted. Churchwell cannot explain exactly how that was allowed. When Cleveland-area officials were asked why by True the Vote, they did not offer an answer.

On the surface, it sounds like voter fraud. People registered phony people and someone voted them. But Beemer said it doesn't look like that. Churchwell says the systems are so weak to find duplicate registrations, even though they are supposed to work, that it happens all the time. Such registration fraud, he said, is easy to commit, and prosecutors don't have time to go after all the cases.

In Indiana, another group was investigated by Indiana State Police. Police raided offices of Patriot Majority U.S., a nonprofit advocacy organization, which signs up voters in urban and black areas. Liberals immediately cried foul, and reminded people that Indiana's governor is Mike Pence, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's running mate.

They won't be able to make that argument in Pennsylvania, which has a Democratic governor and a Democratic state election officer.

Leaders of Tripoli revolutionary brigades blame Presidency Council for low living, security conditions
[Libya Observer] The leaders of the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
revolutionary brigades issued a statement on Friday calling on the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government to either commit to the Skhirat agreement or declare it as a failure.

"We are very concerned about the deteriorating living and security conditions in the country after the arrival of the UN-proposed government to Tripoli." The statement goes.

They also called for unity to save the country from collapse and for peaceful power circulation, warning of any harbored intentions to spark war in the capital.

"We totally reject the coup attempts and the rule of military." The statement continues, adding that the Tripoli brigades condemn liquidations, abductions and breaking into houses.

The leaders also called for the release of all the kidnapped people and for lifting the siege on Benghazi and Derna, urging at the same time for stopping Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
from pursuing his coup.

They also added that they are against radicalism and will fight it in all of its forms, reaffirming that they are fully ready to work with whomever is loyal to the country and wants to form united army and police institutions.

Taliban leaders used own family members as human shield in Kunduz: Waziri
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan defense officials said Saturday that the Taliban leaders even used own family members as human shield in northern Kunduz province to counter the Afghan forces operation as they were planning another attack on Kunduz city.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) front man Dawlat Waziri told news hounds that the Taliban leaders had gathered in the house of their commanders to plan the attack.

He said the Afghan special forces launched an operation but faced a strong resistance from the Taliban bully boyz who used the house of one of their commanders located in a residential area.

Strongly condemning the use of civilians as shield, even their own family members, Waziri said the defense ministry and government are feeling grief regarding the civilian deaths, even if they are family members of the Taliban group commanders.

In the meantime, the Afghan government said a delegation has been formed and will soon visit the area to investigate the deadly incident.

At least 30 non-combatants were killed and 25 others were maimed, including women and kiddies during the operation on Thursday.

The defense officials said at least 3 soldiers of the Afghan special forces also bit the dust during the operation together with the 2 US special forces.

In the meantime, a front man for the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-led Resolute Support Mission (RSM) Gen. Charles Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,
...was ruled by a Democrat machine from 1942 through 1971. After the river caught fire during the administration of Carl Stokes they tried a Republican, then went back to being Democrats when the party hacked up Dennis Kucinich ...
said the civilians deaths in Kunduz was tragedy.

He said the Taliban group leaders who were planning fresh attacks on Kunduz city were targeted in the operation and several Taliban leaders and fighters were killed in the operation.

Reaffirming NATO’s support to Afghan forces, Gen. Cleveland warned that the presence of the Taliban forces in Kunduz will continue to pose threats to the province.

Arson attack on Nasirnagar upazila vice-chairman
[Dhaka Tribune] Anjan Deb, vice-chairman of Nasirnagar upazila parishad, is the latest victim of the rapidly escalating communal violence that has been unfolding in Brahmanbaria.

A shed housing dry kindling was set on fire by unknown individuals at 7pm on Saturday.

Nasirnagar OC Abu Zafar said: "Someone might have torched the shed in front of his house with malicious intent."

Anjan Deb’s nephew Asif Kumar Deb said he came out of the house during a power outage at 7pm, smelled smoke and saw the tin shed on fire. He then called for help and doused the fire.

A tin wall was smashed in to make room to set fire to the kindling inside.

RAB and police are on the spot to investigate and have not yet determined whether this latest arson attack is tied to the communal attacks that have engulfed Nasirnagar.

BGB has been deployed around the perimeter of the vice-chairman’s house.

Italy links people trafficking to militants in detention of Syrian

[Ynet] Italia's tax police said they had found a clear link between people trafficking and murderous Moslems after detaining a Syrian man who entered Italia on a migrant boat who they allege to be a member of the al-Nusra group.
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
A series of deadly attacks carried out by murderous Moslems across Europe over the past year have fuelled a debate about how to handle the influx of hundreds of thousands of refugees and other migrants colonists propelled by civil war in Syria, Iraq and Libya.

"Today's operation is one of the few investigations which establishes a direct link between people who plan trafficking of migrants colonists and Islamic terrorist organizations," the police said in a statement on Saturday.

The detained man was previously kept in jug for helping smuggle migrants colonists, the police said, adding a probe conducted immediately after his arrival revealed he was responsible for organising and managing the crossing.

Further investigations, an extensive analysis of digital files such as videos and photographs taken from a notebook and phones and questioning of the man showed he was a member of the Jabhat al-Nusra, an al Qaeda offshoot, they allege.

More than 2,200 migrants rescued in Mediterraneanon Saturday, 10 bodies recovered

[Ynet]. More than 2,200 migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean on Saturday as they tried to reach Europe and 10 bodies were recovered, Italy's coast guard said in a statement. The migrants were picked up from 13 rubber dinghies, two small boats and one large vessel in 16 separate rescue operations.

The International Organization for Migration's said this week that 4,220 migrants had died in the Mediterranean so far this year, compared with 3,777 in the whole of 2015.
No mention of the perceentage of the dead who were Christian or otherwise not Muslim, versus the percentage of the survivors...
As of Nov. 2, 159,496 people had reached Italy by sea this year, the IOM said.

Car crash in Greece reveals migrant smuggling operation

[Ynet]. Police say a car crash in northern Greece has revealed yet another migrant smuggling operation.

A car with Bulgarian license plates collided with a local vehicle outside the city of Thessaloniki on Saturday morning and its driver fled. Police say two migrants -- an Indian and Syrian or Iraqi -- were found slightly injured and they took them to the hospital. A third migrant, a Pakistani, was found unharmed in the car's trunk. Alerted by the driver of the other vehicle, police also found two more Indians and a Pakistani who had left the car and were walking toward the city.

French soldier dies in an extremist attack in northern Mali
[Ynet] A French soldier has been killed in an attack in northern Mali after a mine went kaboom! as his armored vehicle passed by during a supply mission, French officials said Saturday.

The French Defense Ministry said the attack took place Friday afternoon northeast of the Malian town of Kidal and that Fabien Jacq, a 28-year-old staff sergeant with the French Barkhane force in the country, died overnight. The mine hit two French armored vehicles, wounding another French soldier.

11 militants killed in North Sinai military operation: Army spokesman
[AlAhram]. Egypt's military raided three major "armed terrorist hotspots" in North Sinai, killing 11 Death Eaters, the army’s front man announced in an official statement on Saturday.

The front man said that the army tightened a siege on other Death Eater hotspots in North Sinai’s El-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid, seizing arms, wireless communication devices, computers and cameras.

The front man added that the army's operation against the insurgency has reached a "critical stage in uprooting terrorism."

The statement added that 28 explosives were located in the El-Arish and Rafah areas and that 29 other bombs that had been planted to target security forces were defused.

The anti-terror operation "Martyr's Right" was first launched in September 2015 to root out bully boyz operating in the restive Sinai Peninsula.

Egypt’s army launched a new security offensive two weeks ago against Islamist bully boyz in North Sinai, killing over 50 in response to a Death Eater attack one week earlier that killed 12 soldiers and injured six others.

This campaign includes operations by Special Forces units, the second and third field armies, as well as the police, all of whom aim to "capture and target terrorist elements and outlaws in the vicinity of villages, cities and residential areas in North and Central Sinai."

The militants have engaged in a fierce gunfire with the African Union soldiers following the bomb attack. AMISOM has denied the claim and termed it as “baseless and propaganda.”

80 die in rebel artillery attacks in Aleppo
Aleppo – More than 80 civilians were killed and dozens wounded in a one-week offensive by the Syrian rebel groups in Aleppo, activists reported on Saturday.

The rebel offensive targeted regime-held areas in western Aleppo. Syrian Islamist rebels, led by the Army of Conquest, launched the military campaign on October 28 to break the siege on eastern Aleppo.

“The revolutionary factions have expelled pro-Assad forces from several neighbourhoods, and continued their advance towards western Aleppo,” rebel spokesman Saleh al-Zein told ARA News.

“Soon the regime-imposed siege on eastern Aleppo will be lifted, by force,” the spokesman said.

However, human rights activists in the city reported the death of over 80 civilians, including at least 22 children, under heavy bombardment by the rebel groups.

“Those armed groups claim that they’re fighting to lift the siege imposed by the regime on eastern Aleppo. However, they’re killing many civilians instead of directly hitting regime positions,” rights activist Ahmed Halwani told ARA News.

“The rebels are apparently punishing civilians in western Aleppo for allegedly supporting the Syrian army,” he said.

“This mass attack on civilian houses is a war crime, and is no different from what Assad army is doing by besieging civilians east of Aleppo to starve to death,” Halwani said.

The Islamic State extremist group captured the city of Anah mid-2014, but the security forces managed to liberate the city from the group’s grip.

12 civilians felling Hawijah die in ISIS bomb attack

[AlArabiya] A bomb blast on Friday killed 12 civilians, among them women and children, who had fled the ISIS-held Hawijah area in northern Iraq, officials said.

The deaths highlight the extreme danger faced by civilians trying to flee areas held by ISIS, who may be targeted by the extremists as they seek to escape and then have to navigate bombs the militants have planted.

Hawijah is a town in Iraq's Kirkuk province that was seized by ISIS along with swathes of other territory in the summer of 2014.

Police Colonel Fatah Hassan said the displaced Iraqis had left the Hawijah area on foot but were picked up by police who were transporting them to the west when the bomb ripped through the vehicle.

Hassan, a police lieutenant colonel and Iraqi lawmaker Mohammed Tamim all confirmed that 12 displaced Iraqis were killed. He added that one of the policemen trying to help them was also killed, while both police and displaced civilians were wounded.

China is main investor in Kazakhstan
While the world fights and tussles, the Chinese are quietly buying up big chunks of Asia and Africa so as to lock away vitally needed raw materials.
China is main investor in Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang in Astana on Nov 3, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.

During the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev and Li Keqiang discussed issues of implementation of agreements reached between Kazakhstan and China during Nazarbayev’s visit to China in September 2016. Nazarbayev noted that China is Kazakhstan’s important strategic partner and bilateral relations between two countries could be an example for other states.

Li Keqiang in turn noted that the relations between two countries are strategic and friendly.

“We intend to continue maintaining high-level contacts, which will promote mutual cooperation,” Li Keqiang said.

Among successful joint projects Li Keqiang mentioned car assembly plant in Kazakh city of Kostanai.

Iran admits arming Houthis
In one of the year's least surprising news...
Fars news agency, which is affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, said Friday that Houthi missile units pounded the Yemeni forces’ military positions in the capital city of Sanaa on Friday with the ballistic “Zalzal-2” missile.

It added that forces’ gathering in the center of the Malah region of Sanaa came under attack by the ballistic Zalzal-2 missile, according to the news agency’s army source.

“It was a precision missile strike and [it] hit the target,” the source said without expanding on the damage and toll inflicted.

The agency quoted “a prominent analyst” Seyed Sadeq al-Sharafi as saying that militias “are developing their missile power to target Riyadh and Dubai in the future, after they increased their missile and military capabilities and expanded the range of their military operations against the enemies.”

The Zelzal-2 is an Iranian developed long-range unguided rocket in use by the Iranian military, Hezbollah and the Houthis.

Previously, Iran’s foreign minister repeatedly rejected the reports confirming that his country supplied the Shiite militias in Yemen with missiles.

The official IRNA news agency quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying these are “baseless accusations.”

The latest news comes a few weeks after news that warships from the US Navy and allied nations intercepted four weapons shipments from Iran to war-ravaged Yemen since April 2015, according to a US admiral.
