Bill Clinton continues speaking tour at Jackson Hole med conference (video)
[FOX] Former President Bill Clinton quietly made a detour from his wife Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to give a private speech at a medical conference sponsored by a Democratic donor and contributor to the Clinton Foundation, the FOX Business Network has learned.

A spokesman for the former president confirmed to FBN that Clinton is scheduled to speak Monday night at the Breakthroughs in Medicine & Technology Summit, which is designed to "have interactive conversations about breakthroughs in medicine and technology that will greatly impact humanity, industry and economy on a global basis," according to the event website.

The conference is the brain child of Patrick Soon-Shiong, a surgeon and professor at UCLA and a billionaire entrepreneur worth a reported $12 billion. He is currently the chief executive of NantHealth, a health care technology company, part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team as well as a second-largest shareholder of Tronc, formerly the Tribune Company.

The former president’s conference attendance comes as his wife is nearing the home stretch of her 2016 presidential campaign against GOP challenger Donald Trump. The move raised some eyebrows among the attendees at the event held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Clintons have come under fire for accepting high-dollar speaking fees from major corporations like Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS), including those that regularly do business with the federal government and may seek advantages if she wins the 2016 election.

The political couple’s charitable organization, the Clinton Foundation, has also landed them in hot water in recent months. Big donors to the charity have been found to have conducted business with the federal government during Hillary’s time serving as secretary of state under President Barack Obama.

Gen. Tony Tata: Champ's Briefer Told CENTCOM Official to Skew Intel on ISIS
[PJ] A former brigadier general revealed on Fox News Monday some new information about the White House's role in U.S. Central Command's skewing of intelligence to downplay the threats of ISIS and Al Qaeda.

Last week, a House Republican task force concluded in a 15-page report that U.S. military leaders altered intelligence reports "to paint a rosier picture" of the U.S.-led fight against ISIS than intelligence analysts believed was warranted.

The report blamed "structural and management changes" at the intelligence directorate for the distortions, but stopped short of explaining WHY the changes were made. According to Defense News, "the problems followed the change in Central Command’s leadership from Marine Gen. James Mattis, as CENTCOM commander, to Army Gen. Lloyd Austin."

U.S. Army Brigadier Gen. Anthony Tata (Ret.) filled in some blanks on Fox News Monday afternoon, and if his allegations are true, the scandal reaches all the way to the president's inner circle.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Why Milwaukee Burns
[City Journal Online] The war on cops, ideological and sometimes lethal, may be expanding into a broader race war, in which only one side fights. The thugs who torched businesses and police cars, assaulted cops, and shot at firemen in northwestern Milwaukee on Saturday night went after "white bitches," among other targets. (The riots were inspired by the fatal police shooting of Sylville K. Smith, a black man. Smith, who had an extensive arrest record, including for a shooting, fled from officers after a traffic stop while carrying a stolen handgun; he refused commands to drop the gun. Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has activated the state’s National Guard and declared a state of emergency, but violence continued into Sunday night, with four officers injured, three squad cars damaged, and multiple businesses burned down.) The Black Lives Matter-inspired assassin who murdered five police officers in Dallas in July 2016 said that he wanted to kill white people, as well as white cops. The vitriol that officers working in urban areas now encounter on a daily basis is inflected with racism.

And if the war on cops escalates into more frequent attacks on whites and their perceived interests, the elite establishment will bear much of the blame. For the last two years, President Barack Obama has seized every opportunity to advise blacks that they are the victims of a racist criminal justice system. We should not be surprised when that belief, so constantly inflamed, erupts into violence. Even in his remarks at the memorial service for the five murdered Dallas cops, Obama had the gall to trot out his usual racial vendetta against the police, even though he was fully on notice that cops were being killed because of it:

When African-Americans from all walks of life, from different communities across the country, voice a growing despair over what they perceive to be unequal treatment; when study after study shows that whites and people of color experience the criminal justice system differently, so that if you’re black, you’re more likely to be pulled over or searched or arrested, more likely to get longer sentences, more likely to get the death penalty for the same crime; when mothers and fathers raise their kids right and have "the talk" about how to respond if stopped by a police officer--"yes, sir," "no, sir"--but still fear that something terrible may happen when their child walks out the door, still fear that kids being stupid and not quite doing things right might end in tragedy--when all this takes place more than 50 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, we cannot simply turn away and dismiss those in peaceful protest as troublemakers or paranoid.

Obama’s indictment ignored, as usual, the astronomically higher rates of black crime that fully explain racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

Meanwhile, Obama hasn’t uttered a word in condemnation of the lawless behavior in Milwaukee, two days into the events.

#4  In the interest of accuracy, this paragraph is from a memorial service speech by our Glorious Leader, Barack Obama, Calmer of Oceans, Healer of Nations:

The author of the piece, Heather Mac Donald, has a much different viewpoint and a much deeper understanding of the underlying problem. tl;dr:

Obama’s indictment ignored, as usual, the astronomically higher rates of black crime that fully explain racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

#5  The power of the race card is the unwillingness of most Americans to risk being called racist, even when is clearly untrue.
It is factually accurate that blacks are disproportionately represented in criminal justice statistics and the incarcerated population in America. The answer Foe this in the most simplistic form is either that the system is racist or they are more criminal in their behavior.
Since few dare to assert the obvious it must be the system. The consequences of paternalistic public policy by predominantly democrat politicians has produced the inner city plantations of welfare moms and feral youths. Lacking any real understanding of the way the world works beyond their little tribal enclaves they sense they have been robbed by white people of what should come naturally to them.
This is a recipe for disaster and to win Hilda seems to use it. It will flare badly ....

#6  " we cannot simply turn away and dismiss those in peaceful protest as troublemakers or paranoid"

Sure we can. I've been hearing the same claims since the 2001 riots in Cincinnati -- and all but two of the cases those riots "championed" were clear-cut self-defense. The exceptions saw the officers charged and tried.

The problem is blacks don't think they need to obey the law. Then that attitude piles up into a career of crime, or being so drug-addled they couldn't work if they tried, and THEN comes some wannabe-Hitler who tells them it's all whiteys fault, because slavery. Because people who have never harmed them have the same skin color as someone who abused an ancestor 150 years ago, those people owe them everything.

Sorry, no. I'll listen to claims about police abuse, but most of the claims fall apart rather quickly. And then it seems like the more violent and abusive the thug, the more anger his death causes.

For God's sake, if half as much anger was shown towards the thugs whose random shots kill little kids...

#9  ...we cannot simply turn away and dismiss those in peaceful protest as troublemakers or paranoid.

1) It doesn't look to me like the Ferguson, Baltimore or Milwaukee 'protests' were peaceful. What fucking planet is this guy on?

2) I have / had an extensive juvenile police record. At some point it dawned on me that I will not accomplish anything meaningful in life if I kept acting like the rest of my family, so I stopped shoplifting, stealing bikes, selling weed, vandalizing property and hiking school, got into college and out of my hometown. If these 'peaceful protestors' lack the ability to do the proverbial soul search and change their behavior, I don't have too much sympathy for them.

#13  As the great Professor Reynolds once stated - "The government decides to try to increase the middle class by subsidizing things that middle class people have: If middle-class people go to college and own homes, then surely if more people go to college and own homes, we’ll have more middle-class people. But homeownership and college aren’t causes of middle-class status, they’re markers for possessing the kinds of traits — self-discipline, the ability to defer gratification, etc. — that let you enter, and stay, in the middle class. Subsidizing the markers doesn’t produce the traits; if anything, it undermines them."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Pursue strategic mediocrity.
[Quora] Stop trying to be so good at so many things. Pursue strategic mediocrity.

Excellence is a fabulous habit. When you're 17, it gets you into a top college. However, at some point in your 20s or 30s, it becomes necessary to let go of the overachiever mindset.

We're trained as teenagers to believe that we should be good at everything. We're supposed to earn As in every subject, play varsity sports, run student clubs, volunteer, have creative outlets, AND have a full social calendar.

The message is exhausting. It's also dead wrong. At least, once you finish your education, it's a recipe for disaster.

In adulthood, success comes when you are most fully yourself. More yourself than you think you can be. More yourself than you think you can get away with.

This means that you accept not just who you are, but who you are not. You allow yourself to stop pursuing goals that are inauthentic for you now.

Webster's defines mediocrity as "not having the special ability to do something well." None of us wants to be mediocre at everything in our lives. What's easy to forget, though, is that we have to be mediocre at many things to excel at what truly matters.

Alas, we can't all be visionary billionaires with six pack abs, tight knit families, and rich community involvements. Adulthood is about specialization and prioritization.

Instead of playing a game with one definition of success (going to the right school, working for the right employer, etc), we're each playing our own game. This means that ‐ cheesy as it sounds ‐ we can all be winners.

Only one racehorse per year can win the Triple Crown.

Fortunately, you are not a racehorse. You are a unicorn.

"Always remember that you are absolutely unique," said Margaret Mead. "Just like everyone else." You are an unprecedented mix of strengths and weaknesses.

The good news is that every weakness is the flipside of a strength.

Are you indecisive? Well, congratulations, because you are also a thoughtful person who knows how to weigh all sides of an issue.

Are you bossy? Woo hoo! You might be the next Sheryl Sandberg or Tina Fey. (Read Lean In or Bossy Pants for inspiration.)

Are you impractical? Hello, visionary!

The goal of adulthood is not to become a well-rounded success machine. The goal is to polarize yourself. The goal is to take bold actions that allow your tribe to recognize you as one of their own. The goal is to double down on your strengths and build a career around them, rather than trying to shore up your weaknesses. (Check out Seth Godin and Marcus Buckingham for more info on these concepts.)

And when you're not taking bold actions, the goal is to relax, get lots of sleep, spend time outdoors, and enjoy your loved ones. (Sleeping when you're tired: the #2 most useful thing that most people don't do.)

The hard part, for recovering overachievers, isn't doubling down on strengths. It's allowing ourselves to suck. It's letting go of promising roles and opportunities that are just not a fit. It's giving up on old dreams.

For the record, I'm not saying that we should simply accept bad habits. Being bossy is no excuse for being an asshole. Being impractical is no excuse for not learning effective tactics to get your visions to market.

But often, I think, we're trying to fix a part of ourselves that is actually not broken. We’re too quick to assume that we are flawed. We think that we should be able to succeed at anything we put our mind to.

The truth is that only a few things in life are really worth succeeding at. It is the work of a lifetime to figure out what those things are for you.

If you're not sure where to become mediocre, here are a few ideas. Some of these things are sure to be important to you, others will not be. Most of these things are "good", but it's tough to make them all a priority. Is there anything here you could put on the back burner, at least for today?

Wealth, status, fame, achievement, keeping your house clean, owning your own home, being fashionable, having a nice car, owning a car at all, looking fab in a bathing suit, training for a triathlon, going to a top tier university, going to grad school, going to college, getting married, having kids, starting your own business, changing the world, eating vegan, eating paleo, overcoming addictions, having a rich spiritual life, staying healthy, working on your art, volunteering, getting promoted, traveling the world, learning new things, keeping up on social media, having an active social life, networking, reading up on industry news, being active in your community.

Being OK with mediocrity in the things that don't matter - even if everyone around you thinks these things are really important - gives you the energy you need to immerse yourself in the things that do matter.

Mika Worries More Hillary Emails Could Cause ‘Epic Implosion' That Would ‘Bring Down Campaign'
[LI] A few days ago in our Quick Hits feature, this Insurrectionist wrote "the server is a Sword of Damocles over Hillary's campaign. Whatever the polls may say, Clinton knows that she is just one disclosure away from disaster." Has Mika Brzezinski heard the hair holding that Sword start to fray? Today's Morning Joe reported on the disclosure that a senior Clinton Foundation official had contacted close Hillary advisers Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills to request, as something "very important," that they set up a contact between a billionaire foreign Foundation donor and the US ambassador to Lebanon.

Reacting, Mika said "as a Clinton supporter, I think the bigger question is, what is going to come out? Could something big come out? Could we have implosion of epic proportions. Could you say that the candidate you support doesn’t have something lurking here that could bring down her campaign?"

Fellow Dem Harold Ford, Jr. tried to console Mika: "I haven't seen any e-mails that suggest that anything would cause it to implode." But Mika's fears were not allayed: "this worries me." Ford begs the question. It's not a question of emails he's already seen: it's those potentially coming down the pike that could sink Clinton.

Note Bill Clinton's weasel word: we never did anything "knowingly" inappropriate. Depends on what the meaning of "inappropriate" is, Bill?

KRISTEN WELKER: State Department emails obtained by a conservative advocacy group [Judicial Watch] raising fresh questions about the relationship between the Clinton family foundation and Secretary Clinton's State Department. One dated 2009. A Clinton Foundation executive emailed Secretary Clinton's top advisors, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, requesting they set up a meeting between a billionaire donor and the US Ambassador to Lebanon. This is very important, he said. Critics have pounced on foreign donations to the foundation, questioning whether that bought donors access to the State Department.

DONALD TRUMP: It's called pay for play.

WELKER: Last year Bill Clinton defended the foundation to Cynthia McFadden.

BILL CLINTON: We have never done anything knowingly inappropriate in terms of taking money to influence any kind of government American policy.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: As a Clinton supporter, I think the bigger question is, what's going to come out? And could something big come out? Could we have some sort of implosion of epic proportions? Is there something lurking there. Can you confidently say that the candidate you support doesn't have something lurking here that could bring down her campaign?

HAROLD FORD, JR.: I haven't seen any emails that suggest that anything would cause it to implode --

MIKA: This worries me.

Trump adviser Michael T. Flynn on his dinner with Putin and why Russia Today is just like CNN
[WAPO] The Washington Post’s Dana Priest recently interviewed retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn twice -- once in person, once by phone -- and conducted follow-up email exchanges. The following is a condensed transcript of the in-person interview.

DANA PRIEST: You weren’t such a public person in the military. Was it your idea to become more public?

MICHAEL FLYNN: I consciously made a decision once I felt the country was at such risk and I was advising five of the candidates running for president. They all reached out to me ... Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Ben Carson Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump. ... They would ask me about national security, what’s happening in the world, my thoughts on particular issues.

I met with all of them. Some of them I met with more often. Two of them, I was advising right up to the time when the decision was made, when Trump won the primary.

PRIEST: So you were advising both of them?

FLYNN: Yes, and everyone knew, I wasn’t secretly advising ... I was pretty open about it. Someone would ask me for advice on something, or if I saw something I thought was important I would share it with them.

PRIEST: How did you meet Trump in particular?

FLYNN: I got a phone call from his team. They asked if he would be willing meet with Mr. Trump and I did. ... In late summer 2015.

Lengthy, but don't miss the avalanche of negative comments. They appear to be penned by the Post as well.

Egyptian police captain killed after explosion during North Sinai shootout
[AlAhram] An Egyptian police captain was killed on Monday when a landmine detonated during a shootout with "terrorist elements" in North Sinai's Al-Arish, an interior ministry official announced.

In an official statement, a ministry media official said that Captain Mohammed Safwat Mohammed Roshdy died from injuries sustained following the landmine kaboom while security forces were chasing snuffies who had been planting a 50kg bomb in the vicinity of an Al-Arish cop shoppe.

According to the statement, the police were able to defuse the bomb that was set to target the cop shoppe, and were able to injure one of the gunnies.

The statement added that security forces were currently intensifying efforts to catch the culprits.

Mopping up the last vestiges of resistance...
Istanbul police raid courts for coup suspects – report

[IsraelTimes] Turkish police on Monday raided three major courts in Istanbul in search of more than 170 suspects wanted over last month’s attempted coup, reports said. Police began searches of the city’s main Caglayan court and courts in the districts of Gaziosmanpasa and Bakirkoy with arrest warrants for 173 prosecutors and other judicial staff working there, the Dogan news agency said.

It was not clear how many suspects had been detained in the raids.

According to official figures, more than 35,000 people have been detained so far in the post-coup crackdown against alleged Gulen supporters, although 11,597 of these have since been released.

Convicted Turkish editor steps down after coup

[IsraelTimes] The editor-in-chief of Turkey’s top opposition daily Cumhuriyet announced on Monday he was stepping down, saying he no longer had faith in the judiciary to hear an appeal in a controversial secrecy trial after the failed coup. He said he would be passing on the post of editor-in-chief but would remain writing articles as a columnist.

An Istanbul court had in May sentenced Can Dundar to five years and 10 months in prison for allegedly revealing state secrets in a story that infuriated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Dundar was allowed to go free pending appeal after the trial and is now believed to be in Germany. But he said he would not surrender to the judiciary as the state of emergency imposed after the coup meant he would not get a fair hearing.

He said all the signs indicated a period of “lawlessness” was under way, and that the state of emergency was being used by the government as a pretext to arbitrarily control the judiciary.

Dundar, a hugely prominent figure in Turkey and author of several books and documentaries, was appointed Cumhuriyet editor in February 2015 and swiftly made it Turkey’s sharpest opposition daily. Its report on a shipment of arms intercepted at the Syrian border in January 2014 sparked a furor when it was published in May 2015, with Erdogan warning Dundar himself he would “pay a heavy price.”

Dundar, together with his Ankara bureau chief Erdem Gul, spent three months in pre-trial detention, before being freed on February 26 under a constitutional court ruling.

FETÖ-linked publications at schools to be seized, destroyed

[Hurriyet] Turkey’s Education Ministry has asked educational institutions throughout the country to collect and destroy any books published by groups linked to the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ), which has been blamed for the failed July 15 coup, Turkish news website Duvar reported Aug. 14.

In an Aug. 9 letter to schools, the ministry listed 29 publishing houses, 15 magazines and 45 dailies which were identified as being linked to FETÖ and banned as part of a decree law passed under the state of emergency that was implemented following the July 15 coup attempt. The letter demanded school administrations confiscate and destroy publications belonging to the sources.

Previously, in line with a demand from the Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office, a court ruled that all books, CDs, DVDs and other electronic materials published by Fethullah Gülen, the founder and leader of FETÖ, be seized on the grounds that they constituted “terrorist propaganda.”

Turkish chief public prosecutor bound for Syria caught on border

[Hurriyet] A chief public prosecutor who illegally attempted to cross into Syria after a detention warrant was issued against him as part of an investigation into the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) was detained on the border province of Kilis late on Aug. 14.

Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor Ekrem Beyaztaş was caught after he disobeyed warnings by soldiers to stop on the border of the Afrin border post in the Duruca village. The Kilis Governor’s Office said in a statement that judicial and administrative proceedings against the prosecutor had begun. Turkey’s Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) suspended Beyaztaş from duty after the failed coup attempt of July 15.

Meanwhile, two staff colonels who fled after the coup attempt and were reportedly planning to flee to Egypt were caught in the Central Anatolian province of Konya on Aug. 14.

The Konya Organized Crime Department determined that Staff Colonels Nebi Gazneli and Müslüm Kaya were hiding in a house in the Selçuklu district after their arrival in the area on Aug. 6. The soldiers were detained in a special forces operation at around 10:30 p.m. while the brother of Gazneli, Ömer Gazneli, who allegedly helped them hide, was also detained in a simultaneous operation at his house.

Gazneli reportedly said in his testimony that he conducted discussions to ensure his brother and Kaya could flee to Egypt on Aug. 16. He also confessed that the duo buried their service pistols and bullets in the garden of the house.

The two staff colonels reportedly ordered soldiers to raid the Turkish Radio and Television Association (TRT) and open fire on people on Istanbul’s Bosphorus Bridge on the night of the failed coup attempt. The two colonels are expected to be transferred to Istanbul for interrogation.

Meanwhile, a lieutenant and two sergeants on duty on İmralı Island, where the leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Abdullah Öcalan, has been kept in jail since 1999, were detained by anti-terror police over their suspected links to the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen as a part of the FETÖ probe in the northwestern province of Bursa.

The detained security officials, H.Ü., H.U. and M.S., who were in the gendarmerie unit responsible for security outside the high-security jail, were previously suspended over their suspected links to the Gülenists. They were later detained in their houses in Bursa pending an appearance in court.

Clearing out prison, US sends 15 Guantanamo detainees to UAE
[IsraelTimes] Largest release of terror suspects under Obama comes as president tries to make good on promise to shutter facility

Fifteen prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention center were sent to the United Arab Emirates in the single largest release of detainees during the B.O. regime, the Pentagon announced Monday.

The transfer of 12 Yemeni nationals and three Afghans to the UAE comes amid a renewed push to whittle down the number of detainees held at the US prison in Cuba that President Barack Obama
teachable moment...
wants to close.

The Pentagon says 61 detainees now remain at Guantanamo, which was opened in January 2002 to hold imported muscle suspected of links to the Taliban or the al-Qaeda terrorist organization. During the Bush administration, 532 prisoners were released from Guantanamo, often in large groups to Afghanistan and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
The latest batch of released prisoners had mostly been held without charge for some 14 years at Guantanamo. They were cleared for release by the Periodic Review Board, comprised of representatives from six US government agencies.

The UAE successfully resettled five detainees transferred there last year, according to the Pentagon.

Lee Wolosky, the State Department’s special envoy for Guantanamo’s closure, said the US was grateful to the United Arab Emirates for accepting the latest group of 15 men and helping pave the way for the detention center’s closure.

"The continued operation of the detention facility weakens our national security by draining resources, damaging our relationships with key allies and partners, and emboldening violent murderous Moslems," Wolosky said.

Obama has been seeking to close the detention center amid opposition from Congress, which has prohibited transferring detainees to the US for any reason. The administration has been working with other countries to resettle detainees who have been cleared for transfer.

Naureen Shah, Amnesia Amnesty International USA’s director of national security and human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
, said the transfers announced Monday are a "powerful sign that President B.O. is serious about closing Guantanamo before he leaves office."

According to Amnesty, one of the Afghans released to the UAE alleged that he was "tortured and subjected to other cruel treatment" while in US military custody. The man, identified only as Obaidullah, was captured by US special forces in July 2002 and allegedly admitted to acquiring and planting anti-tank mines to target US and other coalition forces in eastern Afghanistan.

In clearing him for transfer, the review board said he hasn’t expressed any anti-US sentiment or intent to re-engage in bad boy activities. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
a Pentagon detainee profile also said he provided little information and they had little "insight into his current mindset."

One of the Yemeni men sent to the UAE was identified as Zahir Umar Hamis bin Hamdun, who traveled to Afghanistan in 1999 and later apparently acted as a weapons and explosives trainer.

A Pentagon profile from September 2015 said he expressed dislike of the US, which they identified as "an emotion that probably is motivated more by frustration over his continuing detention than by a commitment to global jihad."

#2  Detainees equal intel...which equals additional targets. Period. Lack of a reasonable location to place detainees harms the long term war effort - the lack of a location to detain HVDs forces planners to go from kill/capture missions to only kill/"drone" missions...we miss a lot of intel and additional targets.

Lack of a reasonable policy and the determination to prosecute war criminals once detained is an injustice to the victims and their families.

Many of these "terror suspects" have victims associated with their war crimes that will not see Justice served because of the deliberate indifference on the behalf of our leaders. We need to force movement on the Military Commissions and prosecution in Federal or Host Nation courts to keep the killers off the battlefields.

Many additional victims will be harmed/killed due to the inability to capture, detain, interrogate, and action on the corroborated intel gained from the interviews and interrogations...future killers remain off the target lists and terror finaciers go unfettered .

Another Mysterious Death: Anti-Clinton Author Found Dead at 54
[Gateway Pundit] American Free Press contributor Victor Thorn, 54, a long-time researcher and critic of Hillary and Bill Clinton, has been found dead. Police reports indicate he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The author of more than 20 books, he was best known for the Clinton trilogy, "three definitive works that delved into the history of the power couple including their sordid scandals, Bill Clinton’s sexual assaults of multiple women, and the drug running out of Mena, Arkansas while Clinton was governor of the state."

AMERICAN FREE PRESS contacted the State College [Pa.] Police Department this morning for any news on the suicide of Victor Thorn, whose birth name was Scott Robert Makufka.

AFP asked the policeman who answered the phone if the department could provide any updates.

"There was something that occurred on Monday morning, but I don’t know if we’ve released any identities or any details about it at this time."

AFP asked if he knew when the release might happen.

"I don’t. I don’t know what the status of the investigation is. I have not seen the detective that’s in charge of that today yet. They’ll release it as soon as they can. I don’t know what the holdup is or the details are at this point."

Thorn’s most recent book is "CROWNING CLINTON: Why Hillary Shouldn’t Be in the White House" and is described as a serious prosecution of Hillary Clinton’s criminal activity.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
‘We want blood We cannot co-habitate with white people' (video)
[Right Scoop] A really ugly video surfaced of angry thugs threatening racial violence to police right before last night’s rioting in Milwaukee.

The video starts with the Black Lives Matter crowd angrily yelling at officers over the fatal shooting of Sylville Smith, a black man with a lengthy arrest record who, according to Milwaukee’s Democrat Mayor Tom Barrett, had stolen the gun, which held 23 rounds in it. Also, it turns out the cop that shot him was black.

Worth noting that in the video here, many of cops being threatened are non-whites and female. At the 35-second mark, a rioter can be heard yelling to the officers, "We do not want justice or peace anymore. We done with that shit. We want blood. We want blood. We want the same shit ya’ll want. Eye for an eye. No more peace. F‐k all that.

Ain’t no more peace. Ain’t no more peace. We done. We cannot co-habitate with white people, one of us have to go, black or white. All ya’ll have to go!" Another man oddly screams in the female cop’s face, "No women. No women. Do not touch any women out here!" After the cops put on their riot gear helmets, their commanding officer, a black man, instructs them to fall back, which immediately elicits taunts from the rioters who yell, "They can’t do shit, they ain’t doing shit. You better fall back. Fall back."

This is really disgusting. They’re only hurting the people they say they want to protect ‐ the innocent and reasonable people in the same community. Let’s not generalize about the entire black community here ‐ I’ve lived in a very poor, minority community among these kinds of thugs, and I hate it when the decent people are grouped in with them.

But the screaming idiots in the video ARE thugs. They’re simply assuming the cops are unjustified without caring or even knowing what the facts are. And they’re threatening violence for the stupidest reasons, and for very racist reasons:

#9  Sorry, I was just being brief.

Every now and then I kind of think about how that would actually be done. Maybe let the residents in an area vote and then do what they vote for as long as they're honorable about it and don't cause problems with law enforcement or riot before the facts are known. I don't know how you would decide the geography of the area that gets to vote for or against emergency responders. Or what to do if they had issues. Or whether or not folks who voted to keep their law enforcement in place would get to move out or what.

But it seems to me these idiots need a dose of reality somehow. Consequences shown on television may be the way to rid the world of this new fad.

#10  But it seems to me these idiots need a dose of reality somehow.

When they riot, shoot them. If they riot over that, shoot more of them. If the threaten police or innocent people shoot them. Keep shooting them until they get the message or there are none left.

That may seem harsh, but it would be reality.

The Milwaukee PD on the other hand was saddled with Chief for Life Harold Breier. A man so dense he has blind to a police force at least partially out of control. What Milwaukee is like now in terms of their Police Department I cant say. But they realized they had problems two years ago and sought outside DOJ advice. Not on a complete makeover but to come up with ways of preventing abuse of police powers. But police forces do not operate in an isolated environment. I witnessed a BLM protest last month in Wauwatosa. From what I could see that incident was handled very professionaly. In my judgement the police in Milwaukee have been handling these incidents pretty well. Trying not to pour more fuel on the fire if possible. While at the same time trying to do their jobs.

Regime army recovers positions southwest of Aleppo city
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian opposition activists say a push by an alliance of rebel groups to open a new front with regime forces in Aleppo has failed.

The activists and the websites reported Monday that the rebels retreated from positions they seized near a cement factory a day earlier on the southwestern outskirts of the city.

Fierce fighting began Sunday and lasted for hours around key army positions at the cement factory. Aleppo has become the focal point of the war.

Cement Factory is considered one of the most important military fortification for regime army and its militias and the regime uses the factory as military barracks. The factory includes huge building on which regime placed snipers, machine guns and spread mines in its surrounding making it difficult for any faction to advance.

Cement Factory and Jamiyet al-Zahraa were heavily bombed by warplanes which targeted Syrian resistance locations forcing them to withdraw.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 35 rebels were killed in the fighting.

"Mr. Modi was only trying to divert world attention from the grim tragedy that has been unfolding in Indian-Indian Kashmiree over the past five weeks," said Aziz, referring to Modi’s comments.

Modi, on the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day, said in his address to the nation that people of Balochistan

Modi’s criticism of Pakistain, while avoiding direct mention of month-long protests in India-held Kashmire, was the only time the Indian premier focused on foreign policy in his Independence Day speech which he delivered from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi.

Aziz said that thousands of unarmed youth are protesting everyday for their right of self determination.

"More than 70 innocent Kashmiris have been killed and more than 6,000 injured. There is consistent curfew and a complete media blackout," said the adviser, shedding light on conditions in India-held Kashmire.

A video of the intrusion was posted on Facebook. In the clip, priest Rod Bower was delivering his sermon when some ten men clad in Muslim garb entered the church, laid down their mats and performed mock prayers. Party for Freedom chairman Nick Folkes said, "We held the protest to challenge (Father Bower's) promotion of Islam and Muslim immigration."

Father Bower said the incident at his church highlights the need for Section 18 of the Racial Discrimination Act. The law considers it illegal to "offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate another person or a group of people" on the basis of race.

"If you lose 18C then this kind of vilification and abusive behaviour will go even more unchecked," he said, following reports that several senators want to eliminate Section 18C, claiming that it restricts freedom of speech.

Before the incident at Gosford, about 50 miles north of Sydney, members of the Party for Freedom have repeatedly worn Islamic clothing in various demonstrations to mock the religion.

Britain
Defeat of Iraq War vultures: Victory for the Mail as legal firm that spent taxpayer millions hounding our troops closes down
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] A legal firm that spent a decade hounding British troops is to shut down.

After being stripped of public money Public Interest Lawyers will close at the end of this month.

Hundreds of service personnel will now escape being dragged into a taxpayer-funded witch-hunt.

Nearly 200 compensation claims made by suspected Iraqi bully boyz will be thrown out and more than 1,000 potential claims scrapped. Phil Shiner, who ran PIL, may now face charges because the National Crime Agency is investigating the law firm.

The development is a victory for the Daily Mail, which has exposed the tactics of the ambulance-chasing solicitors. These include using touts to drum up business in Iraq in breach of legal rules.

The collapse of PIL emerged in a document it submitted to the High Court at the start of this month. It asked judges to make an order that it had ceased to act for 187 Iraqi claimants due to its ’permanent closure’.

In a subsequent letter seen by the Mail, PIL told its clients it was closing on August 31 and would no longer act on their behalf. The 187 cases will not now come before the courts ‐ and neither will another 1,100 compensation claims the legal firm planned to lodge.

Israel scores success against skin cancer
[JP] A three pronged approach fighting skin cancer in Israel appears to be showing success. Over the past five years, an aggressive campaign predicated upon awareness, identification and research has apparently been responsible for significantly lower skin cancer rates in the Jewish state.

Under the direction of the Israel Cancer Association, newly created skin care apps such as "DermaCompare" and the development of immunotherapy drugs like Keytruda, the campaign appears to have made noticeable headway in fighting the disease.

"We were third in the world in the incidents and mortality after Australia and New Zealand and it was, of course, because we have a lot of people who come from Europe with light skin," Miri Ziv, the Director General of the Israel Cancer Association told The Media Line. "In the last five years, Israel dropped to the 20th country with the highest incidents (of skin cancer) and in terms of mortality, we dropped to number 13 for men and number 20 for women."

According to Ziv, the ICA has worked tirelessly for the past half-decade trying to promote a more sun-smart attitude. "We disseminated our sun-smart stuff in TV programs and in the media. Every summer we launch the early detection project and we encourage people to avoid sun bathing from 10-4." Ziv cited the achievement that while melanoma is still rising significantly for most of the world, it has stabilized in Israel.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The provincial police chief of the southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province was targeted in an kaboom earlier this evening, the security officials said.

Preliminary reports suggested the police chief of Helmand province Aqa Noor Kentoz sustained injuries in the attack.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
Sediq Sediqi, front man for the Ministry of Interior, said at least three coppers were maimed in the kaboom but the police chief was not harmed seriously.

He said the incident took place on the main highway of southern Helmand province after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off.

The incident comes as the security situation in Helmand province has sharply deteriorated during the recent weeks.

Troops In Helmand Call For Air Support, Reinforcements

[ToloNews] A number of soldiers on the first line of the battle in Chah Anjir area on the outskirts of Helmand's Lashkargah city, said Monday that a shortage of troops and the lack of air support has prolonged the war in that part of the province.

They said additional troops are needed to maintain security in the area after it is cleared of Taliban.

According to reports, Chah Anjir has fallen to insurgents on a number of occasions only to be retaken by security forces over the past 10 days.

The soldiers also said the war in Chah Anjir has turned into a house-to-house conflict and that they are trying to clear it of insurgents.

According to TOLOnews' Karim Amini, who reports from the first line of the battle, the Taliban's activities in Chah Anjir is considered a big threat to Lashkargah city.

2 soldiers die in IED attack in Lebanon
[AlArabiya] Lebanese state media say that a roadside bomb near the country's eastern border with Syria has wounded two Lebanese soldiers.

The National News Agency says the explosion struck an army vehicle in the Arsal region and that the wounds sustained by the troops were minor. The blast was followed by the soldiers opening fire with heavy weapons at militant positions nearby.

Violence from neighboring Syria's civil war has spilled across the border into Lebanon in the past. ISIS and al-Qaeda militants briefly seized the Lebanese border town of Arsal in 2014, before Lebanese security forces pushed them back to the frontier.

The Lebanese army shares security responsibilities with the Lebanese militant Hezbollah group in the area.

Two marines injured as bombings hit southern Thailand
[The Nation] Two Thai marines were injured in a double bombing targeting their teacher-protection unit in Narathiwat's Bacho district yesterday morning, while small explosives planted at four locations in Tambon Yaha in Yala's Yaha district went off on Sunday night without any casualties.

In Bacho, following an early report about two blasts targeting eight soldiers riding four motorcycles, Bacho superintendent Pol Colonel Patta Madawa led a team to inspect the scene. The first bomb hit the motorcycle ridden by team leader and a private, while the second blast - believed to have targeted those responding to the first incident - went off ten minutes later without causing injuries.

On Sunday night, a series of small bombings in the Yaha municipality area caused damage to the facades of four shops, and another bomb was defused.

Turkey's ally Azerbaijan probes Gulen supporters
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's ex-Soviet ally Azerbaijan on Monday said it has launched a criminal investigation into the supporters of US-based Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, whom Ankara blames for last month's abortive coup.

"In order to prevent illegal actions on the territory of Azerbaijan by the supporters of the terrorist organization of Fethullah Gulen, the prosecutor general has launched a criminal case," front man Eldar Sultanov told AFP.

He said Sherlocks have begun "actions" on the case, without elaborating. It is unclear how many people might be prosecuted in the case.

Azerbaijan last month shut down a private television channel over plans to broadcast an interview with Gulen, "in order to avoid provocations aimed at damaging the strategic partnership between Turkey and Azerbaijan."

Gulen's Hizmet movement has affiliated schools around the world, including in ex-Soviet Kazakhstan, normally funded by wealthy Turkish businessmen.

They insist it is an informal grouping promoting moderate islam and development, but their critics see them as a shadowy organization with an unaccountable influence in Turkey.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Female Marine drops out of infantry course
[CNN] -- The only female officer enrolled in the Marine Corps' Infantry Officer's Course has dropped out after failing to complete two conditioning hikes last month, according to the Marine Corps' Training and Education Command.

"At this time, there are no female officers enrolled or slated to attend (the Infantry Officer's Course)," Marine spokesman Capt. Joshua Pena told CNN.

He added that 33 additional officers have been dropped from the course out of a starting class comprising 97 officers. The course started on July 6 and is scheduled to finish on September 20.

This was the female officer's second attempt at passing the course. She will now be given another specialization for her career as an officer in the Marines.

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced the opening of all combat roles to women back in December, but as of yet no female Marine has passed the Infantry Officer's Course.

In January, then-head of Southern Command, Marine Gen. John Kelly, cast doubt on whether many women would be able to enter the infantry if current standards were upheld.

"If we don't change standards, it will be very, very difficult to have any numbers -- any real numbers come into the infantry," Kelly told reporters at the Pentagon.

But the deputy commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. John "Jay" Paxton Jr., espoused a more optimistic view.

"I think the Marines who happen to be women, who are going into those units, are committed to live up to that standard and contribute to unit efficiency and unit success," Paxton said in an interview with the Marine Corps Times published Monday.

The US Army fielded its first female infantry officer in April.

Suspect charged in daylight slaying of New York imam and friend
[IsraelTimes] A man suspected in the fatal shooting of a holy man and his friend as they left a mosque in New York City was tossed in the slammer
You have the right to remain silent...
on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon late Monday.

Charges against 35-year-old Oscar Morel, of Brooklyn, were upgraded after police say they recovered a revolver at his home and clothes similar to that being worn in surveillance video that shows the gunman.

Morel was arrested Sunday after police said he hit a bicyclist 10 minutes after Saturday’s shooting in Queens, amid wide-ranging suspicions he had also shot Imam Maulana Alauddin Akonjee and Thara Uddin in broad daylight.

"We strongly believe this is the individual," the New York Police Department’s chief of detectives, Robert Boyce, said of Morel after the initial arrest was announced.

Authorities have not said what prompted the daytime shooting of Akonjee and Uddin.

According to police, Morel can be seen on video surveillance fleeing the area of the shooting in a black GMC Trailblazer just after Akonjee and Uddin were shot. About 10 minutes later, a car matching that description struck a bicyclist about three miles away in Brooklyn, Boyce said.

Morel was arrested late Sunday night outside a Brooklyn apartment after intentionally ramming his car into an unmarked police cruiser trying to block him in, Boyce said.
Fox News local has more.

Haitham Tajouri’s militia attack Tripoli intelligence buildings
[Libya Herald] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
is tense this evening after Haitham Tajouri sent his Tripoli Revolutionaries’ Brigade militia to attack predominantly Misratan intelligence personnel in the capital today and is thought to want to arrest Sheikh Sadek Ghariani, head of the Dar Al-Islam.

The chief of intelligence, Mohammed Muftah Nuh, a Misratan, is believed to be on a visit to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
In early morning raids with technicals and armoured cars, members of Tajouri’s TRB took over the Intelligence HQ in Fornaj, a building in Salaheddin and a site in Ain Zara as well as the intelligence offices at Mitiga Airport and Tripoli port.

There are unconfirmed reports that one man died in the Fornaj attack. The three portable cabins used by intelligence officers in Ain Zara came under heavy fire early in the morning and were burnt down. Militiamen also stormed some nearby apartments apparently searching for particular individuals.

Though no precise figure is yet clear, one source has said that "many" intelligence personnel have been seized. It is also understood that Tajouri’s men were supported by some intelligence officers who oppose what they see as Misratan and Islamist domination of the intelligence apparatus.

Nuh was an economy minister in Ali Zeidan’s government. He is said to be close to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and to have caused resentment in the intelligence establishment by appointing Misratans to key positions.

It is also being reported that Tajouri is seeking to arrest Ghariani. Posters have been seen in Tripoli with a picture of the former Grand Mufti with a "No Entry" sign across his face. The posters read "No to the Moslem Brüderbund" and "Stop the bloodshed".

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia deploys jets at Iranian Airbase to combat insurgents in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Al-Masdar News has obtained exclusive photos of Russian warplanes being deployed to the Hamedan Air Base in western Iran.

Currently, the strategic TU-22M3 bombers take flight from southern Russia at Modzok airfield; however, this newly signed military agreement with Iran will allow Russia to reduce flight time by 60%, saving the Kremlin both money and improving Arclight airstrike effectiveness.

The distance of these flights equal roughly 2,150km to reach a target near Palmyra. In comparison, the Hamedan Air Base in Iran is roughly 900km from Palmyra.

The Khmeimim Airbase in Latakia province ‐ which Russia was granted access to in late 2015 ‐ is not suitable for the massive TU-22M3, one of the largest bomber jets in the world.

The Russian military is yet to announce how many TU-22M3 will be operating from the Iranian airbase.

This developement indicates significantly improved political relations between Iran and Russia, two priceless allies for Damascus.

Moments ago, Russia also requested Iraq and Iran airspace allowance to transport cruise missiles into Syria.

China-Japan-Koreas
Japan plans to use Pokemon Go to lure tourists back to quake hit regions, including Fukushima
[SOTT.NET] Officials for four prefectures in Japan have announced they are partnering with the Japanese subsidiary of Niantic, the US company behind the Pokemon Go game.

They hope that creating virtual attractions in the popular location-based game will help draw people back to the natural disaster affected areas.

Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures are located in the north of the country and were heavily impacted by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Kumamoto, located in southern Japan, suffered a series of earthquakes in April this year.

The game is already live in Japan, but players would find extra goodies in the four prefectures under the plan. Game-makers will add more PokeStops - places where treasured items can be found, and more Pokemon Gyms - locations where people can meet and send their captured monsters into battle.

Officials say they will also place more rare Pokemon in the areas for players to hunt. Tourism promotions say that less than 10 per cent of Fukushima is affected by radiation exclusion zones, insisting that other areas are safe to visit.

Officials in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima have also been planning 'recovery tours' in which guides take visitors to sites affected by the disasters. But there are limits.

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, TEPCO, reportedly had to request game developers to prevent Pokemon from spawning in radiation affected areas of Fukushima, to avoid drawing players into hazardous areas.

Nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant suffered meltdowns as a result of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and TEPCO says they recently found Pokemon at the site.

#3  Pokemon are 'pocket monsters'. Basically you go out and use pokeballs to capture and enslave them after you have weakened them enough. The balks seem to do something to them which turn them into willing slaves (no matter how antigonastic the were when captured) which you can 'befriend'. Once captured you force them to 'fight' each other in matches. Kind of like cockfighting. You can build a center for these fights called a 'gym'. You know they are slaves because they can be given or sold as property.
Pokemon seems to have replaced animals in that world. They can evolve into stronger types

Sister of Milwaukee man fatally shot by police urges crowd to torch suburbs: ‘Burn that s-- down!’
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The sister of a Milwaukee man fatally shot by police over the weekend told a group Sunday that they should burn the suburbs down.
Right. Rampage through the cul-de-sacs.
Sylville K. Smith was shot in the chest and arm by a black police officer on Saturday, which prompted violent protests, looting, and arson. One of Mr. Smith’s sisters, Sherelle, was caught on video at the charred remains of a BP gas station telling a crowd to set the suburbs ablaze.

"You’re burning down s‐ we need in our community. Take that s‐ to the suburbs! Burn that s‐ down!" she screamed in video shared by a Twitter user identified as DeeconX. The story was then picked up by news aggregator website Weasel Zippers.

Mr. Smith’s other sister, Kimberly Neal, told the same crowd that violence was not the answer.

"At the end of the day, acting out ain’t gonna solve it," she said, a local Fox News affiliate reported. "We tired of it. We tired."

Four officers were maimed Saturday night and 17 people were jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
Mayor Tom Barrett announced a 10 p.m. weeknight curfew Monday for teenagers to stem another outbreak of violence in the city’s Sherman Park neighborhood.

Authorities arrested 14 people Sunday during a night that experienced 30 instances of gunfire. Police Chief Edward Flynn said 48 instances of gunfire occurred Saturday night.

"The individuals who are doing this are making it more difficult -- not less difficult -- to attract investments and jobs in the very neighborhoods where we need them the most," Mr. Barrett said, Fox News reported Monday.

Police said Mr. Smith, 23, was shot while turning toward an officer with a gun in his hand. Chief Flynn said that video from an unidentified officer’s body camera showed the officer who fired the shots had acted "within lawful bounds."

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing

of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

Led by Jaish Al-Tahrir, Sultan Murad Brigades, and Jabhat Al-Shamiya, the Salafist tough guys attacked the Al-Rai Grain Silos, where they were confronted by an exhausted Islamist State force.

Initially, the Salafist tough guys were able to capture the Al-Rai Grain Silos; however, their attempt to enter this strategic village was foiled by the Islamic State Lions of Islam after a fierce battle on Monday evening.

Following this battle at Al-Rai village, the Islamic State launched a counter-attack to recapture the Grain Silos; this assault would prove successful, as the terrorist group expelled the remaining Islamists from area.

Fazl opposes 'forced repatriation' of Afghan refugees

...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spends more time running his madrassah. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
-Fazl’s (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
on Monday opposed the "forced repatriation" of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistain saying "the move is likely to instill hate among Afghans against Pakistain.

"I warn the government of Pakistain against repatriating Afghan refugees through use of force,"Fazl said while addressing a gathering in the federal capital.

The JUI-F chief said, "It would not be appropriate to send the refugees back to the land of war, blood and fire after hosting them for around 35 years."

"Force repatriation of Afghan refugees will not benefit our cause, except making the Afghans an enemy of Pakistain," Fazl maintained.

He advised the government to make new friends in the World instead of turning everyone into an enemy of the country.

"We cannot afford to lose the sympathies of Afghan refugees by sending them back forcefully," Fazl added.

He was of the view that it was not the right time for repatriation of Afghan refugees as, according to him, "the security situation in Afghanistan was not suitable".

"We can take care of Afghan refugees for a year or more but cannot push them back to the valley of death," he asserted.

India violates LoC ceasefire, shells houses
[DAWN] MUZAFFARABAD: As Pakistan began celebrating its Independence Day, Indian troops resorted to unprovoked shelling of the Nezapir sector in Haveli district in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

"Indian troops started shelling at about 2am, using all types of heavy weapons, including mortar and artillery," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. "The shelling lasted till 8.30am, during which...rounds hit some civilian houses near the LoC, but no loss of life was reported."

Pak troops, it said, responded to Indian firing in a befitting manner.

On the other hand, Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted Indian police and defence officials as accusing Pakistain Army of opening the fire.

A 50-year-old Indian woman was injured when the Pakistain Army targeted Indian posts along the LoC in the Poonch sector, the PTI said.

"Kasim Jan, a resident of Shahpur village, was injured when she was hit by splinters of a mortar shell" fired from across the LoC, a police officer said.

According to the ISPR, Pakistain Army’s Director General of Military Operations contacted his Indian counterpart on hotline in the afternoon and lodged a protest over the targeting of Pak posts and civilians.

In 2003, Pakistain and India reached a landmark agreement to maintain ceasefire along the unmarked LoC (Line of Control). However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
several violations have occurred since.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces inform Italy of IS cell based in Milan
[Libya Observer] The Misrata-led forces, who have gripped most of Sirte city from IS Lions of Islam over the last few days, informed Italia of an IS terrorist cell based nearby Milan and linked to a terrorist warlord, who was previously deported by the Italian authorities.

The Libyan authorities found documents in Sirte after the Misrata-led forces captured main areas from IS Death Eaters, especially their main base in Ouagadougou Conference Halls, which fell to Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos last week.

"The documents assure that there is an IS cell in Italia." The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.

The terrorist cell, reportedly based in Milan’s San Siro neighborhood, has been connected with Abu Nassim, a Tunisian IS commander who is in his 40s and who lived in Italia for most of the 1990s. Abu Nassim’s real name is Moez Ben Abdelkader Fezzani, and he came to Italia in 1989 as a construction worker, wrote the Italian newspaper.

"It’s believed that Abu Nassim travelled to Afghanistan, where he fought for Al-Qaeda and he was tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
by the US forces in 2001 when he spent eight years at the infamous Bagram airbase detention facility before being transferred to Italia." Corriere della Sera reported.

Abu Nassim was found not guilty of terrorist recruitment in 2012 by an Italian court and he was deported to Tunisia yet after an appeal against the ruling was filed, Abu Nassim was convicted. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
it was too late as Abu Nassim was already fighting with IS Lions of Islam in Syria. He is now said to be in charge of IS forces around the Libyan port of Sabratha since 2014.

Italia remains on high alert for fear that IS Death Eaters, who are fleeing Sirte, would come to the country on boats disguised as asylum seekers and migrants colonists.

Regime turns historic Palmyra citadel into military post
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] New photos of Palmyra Citadel have showed huge destruction in the historic monument, such a crime against humanity carried out by both Syrian regime and the Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The Syrian regime and its mercenaries used the citadel as a deployment site following outbreak of the revolution benefiting from the high place of the citadel overlooking large areas of al-Badiya to install cannons and launchers to bomb rebelling areas.

When ISIS captured the city in the summer of 2015, it fortified in the citadel, too. Later, the regime recaptured Palmyra from ISIS latest March 2016 with Russian land and air support and other sectarian militias mostly from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The citadel is the highest point in Palmyra and situated on a very steep hill with 150m of height. The building of the citadel is attributed to Fakhr al-Din al-Mani al-Thani (d.1635 A.D), one of the emirs of Leb from Druze sect. However,

Sarraj Government Forces Advance in Sirte
Sirte – Libyan forces of Sarraj government continue to advance in Sirte after regaining control over buildings and currently trying to gain control over the remaining neighborhoods.

Photojournalists of Agence France Presse (AFP) reported that governmental forces are trying to advance towards neighborhood number 3 using light weapons, while the leadership announced it had gained control over the buildings of 1000 residential unit.

Media center of Solid Structure issued a statement saying that the forces are now in control of 1000 residential unit, the Indian buildings, and is advancing towards neighborhood number 2.

Solid Structure spokesperson Mohammed al-Ghosari said that ISIS’ existence is limited now to neighborhood number 1, while the other two neighborhoods are still witnessing heavy clashes.

Ghosari confirmed that the battle is almost over and it won’t be long before victory is announced without specifying the date.

The spokesperson added that U.S. air force bombed terrorists’ sites in Sirte over 5 times. He said that the air support helped in minimizing losses. He explained that before the participation of U.S., every attack could lead to the death of 35 or 40 persons, whereas now it is far more less with 3 dead in the recent battle.

Ghosari confirmed that there are no civilians in Sirte anymore, other than ISIS’ families. He said that Solid Structure forces allowed civilians to leave the city. He added that this led to the death of 40 civilians since ISIS used cars in transporting the civilians that were in reality bombed.

Since May 12, over 300 Solid Structure fighter died and over 1800 injured. Three months after its initiation, in June 2015, governmental forces announced it had regained control over Ouagadougou Conference Center, which was ISIS headquarters.

AFP photojournalists toured inside Sirte University and Ouagadougou Conference Center where slogans are still on the buildings. According to the photographer, destruction was everywhere and there were ISIS slogans threatening to attack Rome “We Fight in Libya, Our Eyes on Rome.”

Italian media revealed that Libyan authorities had informed its Italian counterpart of a terrorist cell near Milano. Sources revealed that the information was gathered after Libyan forces found documents in ISIS sites in Sirte.

According to the documents, terrorists are stationed near Milano and follow the orders of the Tunisian Abo Nasim, 47, who fought in Afghanistan and Syria before becoming an ISIS leader in Libya in 2014.

Italy fears that terrorists will cross the borders using refugees’ boats to execute attacks inside.

Afghanistan
Heavy Battles Ongoing In Fifteen Provinces: MoD
These kinds of problems, where there are attacks everywhere, go straight to the top...
The Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Monday that currently security forces are fighting insurgents in 15 provinces in Afghanistan.

According to the ministry some areas where battles are raging are in areas that have fallen to the Taliban.

The MoD said that twenty planned operations are underway in fifteen provinces and commando forces are involved in eighteen special operations in the country.

The ministry also said that Taliban insurgents are well equipped in their fight against security forces.

"Such problems have been created in the districts where we don't have army troops and police troops are there, the enemy seized the opportunity and at night the enemy comes and seizes the center of the district for one or two hours or even one day," said Dawlat Waziri, the MoD's spokesman.

Military analysts believe that the collapse of districts and areas to the Taliban are because security forces are demoralized and exhausted.

"Increase in those battles has caused exhaustion which generally undermines the morale," said Mirza Mohammad Yarmand former deputy Interior Minister.

Six districts in Helmand have witnessed heavy clashes in recent weeks and parts of these districts have collapsed to the Taliban.

Recently, the Taliban took control of areas in Nawa and Garmsir districts of Helmand.

"Oppositions are advancing in the war, opponents have the war initiative but unfortunately the government is not organized (in the war) nor does it have experience from past battles," said Attiqullah Amarkhail a military analyst.

Parts of Helmand, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Sar-e-Pul, Faryab, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Laghman, Paktiya, Paktika and Uruzgan provinces are all currently witnessing heavy clashes.

A shortage of military hardware and the lack of good war management in terms of delivering equipment to security forces on the battle fields is also seen as reasons for the high number of battles.

Khartoum accuses Benghazi militants of using Sudanese workers as human shields
No way!
[Libya Herald] The foreign ministry in Khartoum says that holy warriors in Benghazi’s Ganfouda district are forcibly using some 200 Sudanese workers trapped there as human shields in fighting over the past four days with the Libyan National Army (LNA). Five had been killed as a result of air raids, it said today.

According to a ministry front man, the Sudanese are being prevented from leaving. The ministry learned about the situation and the deaths, he added, when one of the trapped workers managed to contact the Sudanese consulate in Benghazi.

The ministry, the front man explained, had now been in touch with the foreign ministry in the Beida-based interim government of Abdullah Al-Thinni over the matter. It, had promised to try to ensure the immediate evacuation of the Sudanese in cooperation with the Libyan Red Islamic Thingy.

Daraa: Infighting in western countryside hardened living conditions
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The two months of relieve people in Yarmouk basin enjoyed, have ended with the start of clashed between Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
and the Syrian Free Army (FSA) from one side, with Khalid Bin al-Walid brigade from the other side.

Villages of Yarmouk basin in the far Western countryside of Daraa witnessed two months ago a period of calmness in fighting between Ahrar al-Sham together with FSA against Khalid Bin al-Walid brigade, as goods, food and fuel became available, but at the beginning of the festivities, prices soared and started to disappear from the market, because clashed led to stopping goods coming from the Western countryside villages like Nawa, Tasil and Saham, which were the main source for goods provided to villages of Yarmouk basin.

2 Turkish kops die Kurd Kommie bombing in Diyarbakir
[AlArabiya] Two Turkish police officers and a child were killed on Monday in a car bombing outside the southeastern city of Diyarbakir blamed on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels, local officials said.

The blast hit a police control post on the highway leading southeast from Diyarbakir to the city of Batman, the local governor’s office said in a statement, adding that 25 people were wounded including five police officers.

Television images showed the bombing had turned the three-storey police building to tangled rubble. Locals were also inspecting the massive trench where the ground had been blown out.

The latest bombing came after at least eight people, mostly civilians, were killed on Wednesday in two separate attacks blamed on PKK militants in Turkey’s southeast.

It also came on the day seen as marking the 32nd anniversary of the launch of the PKK’s armed rebellion by radical Kurdish nationalist Marxists led by their now jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Hundreds of members of the Turkish security forces have been killed by the PKK in attacks since the collapse of a two-year ceasefire in July last year.

The PKK has kept up attacks after the July 15 failed coup that tried to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power and the authorities blamed on US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen.

The government has vowed there will be no let-up in the fight against the PKK even in the wake of the coup.

There has been no suggestion that the PKK was behind the coup and Gulen is believed in the past to have vehemently opposed peace talks with the group.

But some officials have alleged the PKK has helped Gulen supporters flee the post-coup crackdown into northern Iraq or Europe, sometimes in exchange for information about the Turkish intelligence services.

Meanwhile, three soldiers serving on the Imrali prison island where Ocalan has been held since his capture in 1999 have also been detained as part of the investigation into the coup, the state-run Anadolu news agency said.

Over 40,000 people have been killed since the PKK first took up arms in 1984. It is proscribed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.

August 15 is usually seen as the anniversary of the start of the deadly campaign of violence by the PKK which began with twin attacks in 1984.

Syrian Army, Hezbollah begin counter-attack in southern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah launched a counter-attack at the 1070 Al-Hamdaniyah Housing Project tonight, targeting the remaining buildings that are under the control of Jaish Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) inside Aleppo City.

Led by the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah stormed Jaish Al-Fateh’s defenses tonight after the latter failed to advance during their large-scale offensive around the picturesque provincial capital.

A military source inside Aleppo City told Al-Masdar News on Monday night that the Syrian Armed Forces are steadily advancing inside the 1070 Housing Project; and that it could be captured by dawn, if the jihadist rebels fail to reinforce the southern parts of this district.

While the Syrian Armed Forces advance on the ground, the Russian Air Force is pounding the jihadist rebels along the Idlib-Aleppo axis; this rural area is the location of Jaish Al-Fateh’s main supply line to the picturesque provincial capital.

ISIS Executes Six 'Spies' By Boiling Them In Tar After Iraqi Sharia Court Ruling
[Iraq Sun] Six people have been put to death by Isis ‐ by being immersed in boiling vats of tar, it’s been reported.

The gruesome act was carried out in public at an Isis command centre in al-Shora in Iraq, ’with the aim of inciting fear among the citizens’.

The six, from djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, were accused by Isis of being spies for the Iraqi government.

A source told Iraqi News: ’Isis executed six persons in Mosul for collaborating with Nineveh Operations Command. The death sentence was issued [by an] Isis Sharia Court.

’The six persons were placed inside tanks containing boiling tar and the execution was carried out in one of Isis headquarters at al-Shora. The execution took place... with an aim of inciting fear among the citizens.’

The grotesque act follows evidence being revealed that Isis has been using mustard gas on the front line in Iraq.

Troops fighting against the terror group have been left with appalling injuries ‐ including agonising blisters on their skin and badly damaged lungs ‐ in a frightening echo of warfare in the trenches on the Western Front.

9 Iraqi men arrested in New Year's Day rape in Austria
[Iraq Sun]Nine Iraqi asylum seekers have been tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in Austria on suspicion of drugging and gang raping a German tourist on New Year's Day.

Police in Vienna confirmed that the men aged between 21 and 47 were detained and all were either granted asylum in Austria or applying for it.

The nine men are alleged to have taken the woman from Vienna's downtown Schwedenplatz station and then assaulted her in an apartment where two of the suspects lived.

The woman was in town visiting a friend but had become separated from her during the New Year's celebrations.

Police say the female victim, who had been drinking, suspects she was drugged as she has no recollection of being taken to the apartment.

Officers are now using DNA evidence and video surveillance to build their case.

Talibunnies Seize More Than 20 Police Vehicles In Baghlan
And by "police vehicles" they mean Humvees.
The Taliban has reportedly seized more than 20 vehicles belonging to security forces - including police Rangers and Humvees – after taking control of Dahane Ghori district in Baghlan, said provincial council members.

According to reports, the district has been under siege by insurgents over the past week and fell to the Taliban on Sunday evening.

Baghlan provincial council member Mawlawi Raji said: "At least 18 Rangers belonging to the Afghan Local Police have been seized by the insurgents. Meanwhile, they [Taliban] took seven tanks (Humvees) belonging to security forces. I am not sure about the accuracy of this, but I urge security officials not to keep the truth secret."

However, Baghlan governor Abdul Satar Bariz said the security forces have made a tactical decision to pull back from the district.

"(Communication) connections are dead in the area and it is not known what has been seized by the enemy. The security forces have tactically retreated a few meters from the area," Bariz said.

Woman, 34, Repeatedly Kicked Boyfriend In Face After He Refused To Have Sex With Her
[THESMOKINGGUN] When her boyfriend refused to have sex with her, a Florida woman repeatedly kicked him in the face, an attack that has landed her in jail for battery, cops say.
Not much of a story, I know. Probably happened to all of us, one time or another...
According to an arrest affidavit, Jennifer Furguson, 34, sought a 6:30 AM tryst Wednesday with her beau inside the couple’s Port St. Lucie residence.

The victim, who has been in aictured above, relationship with Furguson for two years, told police that "Jennifer became upset at him when he refused to have sex with her this morning."

After being rejected, Furguson began kicking her boyfriend in the face "while he was laying on the bed," Sherlocks charge. Responding officers noted that the man had "significant swelling to his right cheek bone and redness to his left cheek bone."

Furguson was incarcerated

on a misdemeanor battery charge and booked into the county jail, where she remains locked up in lieu of $500 bond.

Furguson is scheduled to be arraigned on August 25, according to court records.

There IS life after DEATH: Scientists reveal shock findings from groundbreaking study
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] In a large scale study of more than 2,000 people, British boffins confirmed that thoughts DO carry on after the heart stops.

The shock research has also uncovered the most convincing evidence of an out of body experience for a patient declared dead.

It had been believed the brain stopped all activity 30 seconds after the heart had stopped pumping blood around the body, and that with that, awareness ceases too.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the study from the University of Southampton shows people still experience awareness for up to three minutes after they had been pronounced dead.
So the afterlife is three minutes long? Disappointing.
I thought it took four minutes for the brain to die after blood flow stopped. Another scientific fact overthrown by new data, I suppose.

Former Senate chairman's nephew killed in armed clash in Islamabad
[DAWN] A nephew of former Senate chairman Mohammad Mian Soomro, Malik Fahad, was killed in an armed clash early Monday, police said.

A verbal dispute broke out in Islamabad's F-10 area between two men identified as Raja Arshad and Malik Tariq. The issue was initially resolved after police got involved and both parties came to an agreement at a local cop shoppe.

Later on, however, both parties clashed again in the same area. Malik Fahad, who was attempting to mediate between the two parties, received fatal bullet wounds while Malik Tariq was injured.

An initial postmortem report suggested that the dear departed received four bullets ─ two bullets in his face and one each in his neck and back.

No First-Information Report has been filed as yet, police said, adding that they learnt Malik Fahad was due to travel to Germany today.

Midnight anti Libya's Mufti stickers provoke social media ire
[Libya Observer] Social media activists have reacted angrily to some stickers that were sealed at a number of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
areas to defame Libya's Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani.

The stickers showed a picture of Sheikh Sadiq with "no to Moslem Brüderbund" and "Enough Bloodshed" written on them.

Social media activists accused Dignity Operation supporters, who have find some freedom of expression after the arrival of UN-proposed government in Tripoli, of being behind the incident, which took place under cover of darkness.

Posts to defend the Mufti flooded social media on Monday with the hashtag "Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani represents me" went viral on Facebook.

Dignity Operation supporters accuse Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani of being a member of Moslem Brüderbund, which he has denied several times.

Actually, accusations of being a terrorist, an ISIS affiliate, Qaeda affiliate or Moslem Brüderbund affiliate have become fashionable in the Dignity Operation camp to defame opponents.

The Dignity Operation camp has also went further on this matter. Last year, notorious TV anchor Mohammed Imtallal accused US President Barack Obama
I am not a dictator!...
of being a member of the international network of Moslem Brüderbund for not providing weapons to Dignity Operation as the Egyptians and the Emiratis did.

Dignity Operation's Air Force Commander Saqir Jaroushi has also said that head of UN-proposed Presidency Council Fayaz Sirraj would be branded terrorist if he refuses to stand by Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's self-proclaimed army.

"In fact, Sheikh Sadiq is at odds with Moslem Brüderbund, he is against the UN-backed government, and Moslem Brüderbund members are strong supporters of this government and have influential members in the Presidency Council," comments one social media activist.

"Accusing Sheikh Sadiq of being a Moslem Brüderbund member is very strange and means the accuser does not differentiate between Sheikh Sadiq's Maliki doctrine and Moslem Brüderbund's party," journalist Essam Zubair reacted to the stickers.

Dignity Operation also accuses Sheikh Sadiq of inciting bloodshed for his frequent Fatwas to fight Khalifa Haftar's militias in Benghazi. Sheikh Sadiq's famous Fatwa to fight Wirshiffana kidnap gangs, who usually rob and kill passers-by, has also sparked fury within Dignity Operation and former Qadaffy regime supporters.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
Tripoli Elders' Council has deplored the smearing campaign on the Mufti, who is seen as a stumbling block to Dignity Operation's Khalifa Haftar's ambitions to rule Libya.

"It's a desperate attempt to defame one of the prominent icons of Libya's Fatwa House," the council said.

War for oil terminals in east Libya looms
[Libya Observer] A Dignity Operation militia group has seized Zueitina town, some 180 km southwest of Benghazi, a move that could trigger a fierce fighting for the town's oil terminal.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria rebels kill Hizballah commander during failed Aleppo offensive
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian rebels killed a senior Hizballah leader on Monday as they led a failed assault on a regime barracks in Aleppo, according to a source in the Army of Conquest military operations room.

The source told The New Arab that a Hizballah commander was killed as rebels attempted to take control of a former cement plant turned into a regime army base southeast of Aleppo's Ramouseh district.

"We have failed to take back control of regime-controlled cement factory and water plant, however, we managed control part of the supply line from the south of the city," he said.

Lebanese Shia bully boy group Hizballah has been a major backer of the regime of Bashir al-Assad since the beginning of the of the five-year conflict.

The failed assault was spearheaded by Syria's re-branded al-Qaeda branch, the Nusra Front, which now goes by the name of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham.

Fierce fighting began on Sunday and lasted for hours around key army positions at the cement factory, where a large amount of weapons and military vehicles are stored.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights [SOHR] said at least 35 rebels were killed in the fighting.

Fighting in Aleppo has intensified after regime troops seized control of the last supply route into rebel-held areas in mid-July, after a nearly three-week siege, rebels took Ramouseh on August 6, linking up with opposition-held areas.

The Army of Conquest then announced an ambitious bid to capture all of Aleppo, which if successful would be the biggest opposition victory yet in Syria's conflict.

The rebels have been attempting to secure the supply lines into rebel-held districts, as air raids have pounded areas held by the Army of Conquest, an alliance of rebel, Islamist and jihadist forces.

The air raids, which began Saturday and continued Sunday have killed at least 51 civilians in and around Aleppo and 22 in neighbouring Idlib province, according to the SOHR.

Aleppo, Syria's former economic hub and a focal point of the war, has been divided between a rebel-held east and regime-controlled west since mid-2012.

The increased fighting has raised concerns for the estimated 1.5 million civilians still in Aleppo, including some 250,000 in rebel-held areas.

The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
has called for regular 48-hour pauses in the fighting to allow aid into the city, which has suffered from severe shortages of food, water and medical supplies.

India-Pakistan
Celebratory firing
[DAWN] WHEN will we learn that moments of joy can be celebrated in less lethal ways? On Independence Day, about a dozen people were admitted to hospitals across Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, some with serious injuries caused by the hail of bullets fired by trigger-happy individuals into the air in various neighbourhoods of the city. Despite the hazards of this practice, there has been little attempt to crack down on those mindlessly carrying on with this exercise in celebration. It is high time people were made to understand that bullets thus fired will inevitably come down, and those caught indulging in such a show of joy must be penalised for endangering the lives of others.

Curbing the practice is a challenge. Guns are commonly owned and many people see it as a matter of ego to ignore advice about other people’s safety. An awareness campaign is badly needed to sensitise people to the hazards posed by the practice. The frivolous discharge of firearms is a serious menace to society and the practice can only end if it is delegitimised to the point where people are willing to report those who indulge in it. Unfortunately, with firearms as ubiquitous as they are in our society, one does not expect the police to be able to do much to discourage such firing. Help is needed from the community to take collective ownership of the effort to discourage the practice, and apprehend those who engage in it. It is completely unacceptable that firing joy shots into the air should be allowed as a way of celebrating anything, whether it is Independence Day, a wedding, or any other occasion, especially in densely populated cities. The practice needs to be countered through a large and coordinated effort. The state can lead the way and the media can also help in spreading awareness about its dangers. Too many injuries, in some cases fatal, have been caused by the practice and it is high time to pull all resources together to end it.

... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
is afraid of the army, a thundering Mr Khan claimed. Moreover, it is because the government is afraid it cannot control army chief Gen Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
that the government has tried to give him an extension and even a promotion, Mr Khan alleged. Never mind that there has been absolutely no indication from either the government or the army chief that a scheduled change of army command will not take place in late November. Never mind that Gen Sharif himself categorically stated in January that he would retire on time and that neither he nor the military high command has suggested anything contradictory since. All that appears to matter are the rumours and insinuations that Mr Khan apparently sees swirling around him and that he decides must be true.

Surely, this is not the way of a responsible politician. Perhaps the PTI chief, in his endless bid to oust or destabilise the PML-N government, understands the value of cynical politics: if Mr Khan breathes fresh life into old rumour, sections of the media and the political class can join in the clamour and seemingly turn the patently false into a likely possibility. And if that rumour can give the government jitters or draw the military deeper into the political realm, then the possibility of an overreaction by either side could redound to the PTI’s advantage. But what is remotely democratic about such tactics or, indeed, how is any of it good for institutional stability? Mr Khan has a democratic right to protest and oppose the elected government of the country. He also has the right to share with the public his opinion on matters of national importance -- but there is a line between sensible, even strident, critique and wanton disruption.

To be sure, the civil-military imbalance is real and Prime Minister Sharif and the army chief have clearly had policy differences over the past two and a half years. Yet, both have found a way to coexist and, as Gen Sharif’s term comes to an end, there is little doubt that the military is not seeking to interrupt democratic continuity. The unfortunate and unnecessary military criticism of the political government in the wake of the Quetta bombing may have served as yet another reminder of how carefully civil-military ties need to be managed, but it has occurred against the backdrop of a scheduled, impending and orderly change of command in the army. Mr Khan clearly believes that Nawaz Sharif is unfit to lead this country. But there remains a fundamental question to be asked of Mr Khan: is he truly ready for the responsibility of leading it?

CIA asset Boko Haram releases videos showing masked gunman with kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls
CIA asset? Where did that idea come from?
[SOTT.NET] Footage purportedly showing Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
's new leader has emerged online, displaying a masked gunman demanding that Nigeria's government release their fighters in exchange for the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls.

The new video is thought to feature Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the recently appointed successor to Abubakar Shekau
... the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fire by the Caliph and refused to step down ...
, who has not been seen since early 2015.

While as yet unverified, the video is similar to previous Boko Haram releases.

In the 11-minute clip, a man dressed in military clothing with a gun slung across his shoulder claims that a number of the kidnapped girls have been killed in Nigerian air strikes, while at least 50 young women in head scarves can be seen lined up against a darkened backdrop.

One of the captives, identified by the BBC as Maida Yakubu, is then directed to appeal to her parents to put pressure on the Nigerian government to release imprisoned Boko Haram fighters.

"We are suffering here, the aircraft has come to bombard us and killed many of us. Some are maimed. Every day we are in pains and suffering. Some of our husbands that we married also are injured, some dead. No one cares for us," the girl is reported to have said.

Posted to Twitter on Sunday by a Nigerian journalist, the broadcast claims to be a message to the "family of Chibok girls".

Joe Biden Exposes Military Aide with Nuclear Codes During Campaign Rally for Hillary
[Breitbart] Vice President Joe Biden revealed during a campaign rally that he had a military aide with the nuclear codes present at the event.

'There's a guy that follows me right back here, has the nuclear codes,' Biden said, turning and pointing. 'So God forbid anything happened to the president and I had to make a decision, the codes are with me."

After Biden bragged about how the nuclear codes were with him, he said that Trump was "not qualified" to know the nuclear launch codes.

He said Trump was not worthy of being the commander in chief, reminding the audience that his son Beau served in Iraq.

'I must tell you, had Donald Trump been president, I would have thrown my body in front of him,' Biden said. 'No I really mean it.'

Biden insisted that Trump’s presidential campaign was already endangering American soldiers stationed overseas.

'If my son were still in Iraq and I say to all those who were there -- the threat to their life has gone up a couple clicks,' he said.

Clinton bracing for ‘major attack’ by Trump
[NYPOST] The Clinton campaign is gearing up for Donald Trump "to bet everything on one final, major attack," according to a fundraising email sent Monday morning by campaign manager Robby Mook.

Mook has come to this conclusion, he writes, because Trump has raised a ton of money but hasn’t spent anything on TV ads.

"Last month, Trump and the GOP raised over $80 million. And he hasn’t spent one dollar on any TV advertising. I’m not exaggerating -- literally since the general election began, he hasn’t spent any money whatsoever on one of the most critical components of a winning campaign," Mook writes.

"We have to anticipate that Trump’s going to spend big in the last lap of this race -- and we know that a flood of money in the final few weeks could undermine all the work we’ve put in to build this campaign," he ads.

But Mook believes that despite the coming attack, Clinton will win the presidential election.

"We’re going to win decisively. We’re going to earn a mandate to govern," Mook stated.

The Clinton campaign manager is asking for a $1 donation to help prepare for the coming onslaught.

#1  Interesting. I agree with Mook that Hillary Clinton is favored to win. But notice the language about "mandate".

If you follow the financial/banking industry, this is a big deal to them. The idea of the conservative stock broker or financial planner is an antique, it went out at least a decade ago, and they are almost uniformly pushing for Hillary Clinton to win. Though they would never admit it, they know the current high stock market is a fragile phony thing made possible by endless money printing, the dollar being reserve currency, an artificially low borrowing rate, and a percentage of public employees that is more than twice as large as is justified or sustainable. One of the things that has them gripped with fear is the instability of a slim Clinton win and a lack of confidence in the economy and markets that would result.

Mook's words are a bone being tossed to that industry's insecurities. The foundations of what little economic health we have require a Hillary blowout. The current crop of people in banking/finance are amoral and greedy in a way that make the Gordon Gekko types of the 1980's look like choir boys. They have less loyaty to America or decency than at any time in their industry's history.

#2  Wishful thinking on Hillary's part. There are still the debates to come. These will not be like the Obama-Romney debates. There will most likely be more incriminating emails released. As Assange said indictable information will yet come. And still, there are the legal problems with the FBI U.S. Attorney field offices. And don't forget the multitude of lawsuits such as the FOIA lawsuits, the Benghazi family lawsuits, and the email lawsuits. Then there are the recent calls for perjury charges by the Congress because you lied to them. It is a long time to November.

#5  Just a couple points of order.

Anyone who has already voted - ain't gonna be won over by the other side.

It isn't even the MLB playoffs yet, so we have no idea who will win the World Series.

And as a Royals fan, I am absolutely immune to that tone. Or how Denver ruined the Super Bowl by winning the game because Cam Newton's Turn!

I think Rantburg has been fairly good about the whole deal. Me? Rick Perry - anyone out for a jog who shoots a coyote to protect his dog is good in my book.

#6  He has not marshalled the get out the vote volunteers that should already be organizing mail-ins with the home bound, vans to transport people, and door-knocking to give information and offer to help people make it to the polls.

The people who are going to vote for Trump are smart enough and capable enough to find their own way to the polls. They don't need the Donkeycrat machine to pull the lever for them.
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 08/16/2016 13:43 Comments || Top||

#7  I dunno. In addition to all your motivated voters, you need the somewhat willing voters. That means a GOTV and some advertising of some kind. I don't think Trump necessarily needs to enrich all the remoras consultants, but he does need an operation. Even if he doesn't poll a lot he needs enough to know where to put resources.

And he needs a GOTV effort even if he farms out a lot of it to the RNC.

#11  At some point the Hildabeest is going to have to face the potential voters. She is being shielded and kept in a cocoon. When her handlers do let her out of her cage, she is extremely grating and tends to pi$$ off a lot of potential voters when she talks. Her and the hubby are the epitome of the crooked politician. I remember the Clintons well in the decade of the '90s and even before in Arkansas. Both are lying POS. Slick Willy argued about the meaning of the word "is" when he was asked about having sex with Monica in the WH. He dragged the country through an extended Jerry Springer show. Slick was one of two presidents impeached for lying. We don't need another 8 years of sleaze in the WH just because people think it would be cute or cool to have the first woman POTUS. They don't care whether she's worth a $hit; they just want a woman POTUS. How did it work out with the 1st (or is the 2nd) black POTUS. I'm about friggin fed up with damned social experiments. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with electing a black or a woman or a LBGTQ member for that matter and not have as a part of their agenda to take down the country. They just need to be fvcking competent, take the country in the right direction, defend the country, obey the law and follow the constitution.

#14  I agree with you Besoeker, the house of cards she has created is beginning to come apart. She can only hide for so long.

And as far as being the worst campaign ever, don't let you hate get in the way here. He has run with almost no staff to speak of, minimal advertising, very little money spent, brought out more voters in the primary than any other candidate in history, beat the GOP establishment and their 15 candidates hands down, continues to run within a few points of Hillary despite the GOP's never Trump campaign, and now he is going into the debates in a dead heat. Not even Reagan had it like this, its not a cult, its people tires of the same old political fraud. Get used to it, Trump wins or not, you will see the same at the Congress and Senate levels as well.

But in the end, call us all morons- name calling is one of the things you hate Trump for, a little hypocritical. Hate Trump, don't vote for him. Just remember where you vote goes, to Hillary. Rationalize it any way you want, that's what your doing.

ISIS troops attack Kurd positions in Hasakah
[ARA News] HASAKAH – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Monday launched an offensive on Kurdish positions in northeastern Syria, bombing headquarters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Hasakah province, military sources and activists reported.

ISIS militants launched a mortar attack on the YPG security centre in the Azawi village of Shaddadi district in the southern countryside of Hasakah, killing and wounding scores of Kurdish forces.

“The terrorist group [ISIS] has attacked our headquarters in Azawi near Shaddadi city from four directions, using mortar fire and other heavy weapons,” a YPG spokesman told ARA News, adding that scores of their fighters were killed and injured.

At least three YPG forces lost their lives and five more wounded in the attack.

“Our forces were eventually able to repel the attack and destroy four ISIS vehicles. Also six terrorists were killed in clashes with our fighters,” the YPG official reported.

In the meantime, local media activists Muhammad al-Ahmed told ARA News that the clashes reached the city of Shaddadi before the YPG was able to force the militants to withdraw.

“Monday’s infiltration by ISIS was one of the most serious attacks on Shaddadi since the group’s expulsion from the area six months ago,” al-Ahmed said.

In mid February 2016, Kurdish YPG units and allied fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the liberation of Shaddadi city in Hasakah province from the Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants, after months of battles with the radical group. ISIS militants had evacuated their headquarters in Shaddadi under heavy bombardment by the Kurdish-Arab alliance of the SDF. “More than 275 ISIS militants were killed and 33 ISIS vehicles were destroyed at the hands of the SDF fighters in the battle for Shaddadi,” the SDF spokesman Talal Silo had told ARA News at the time.

The progress came after the SDF units, supported by an air cover from the U.S.-led coalition, cut off the main supply route for the ISIS radical group in al-Hawl near Syria’s northeastern border with Iraq. However, since then ISIS has been trying to infiltrate into the area, launching several car bomb attacks.

Furthermore, the SDF alliance had seized control of a key gas facility and main financial resource for the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province in early February, 2016. The western-backed forces regained control of the Jibisa gas facility, located about 12km east of Shaddadi city in southern Hasakah.

The facility had been used by ISIS for nearly two years as a source to fund its operations. Informed sources told ARA News that ISIS used to produce 5,000 gas cylinders a day in Jibisa to be sold at the black-market. Local sources reported that ISIS has been coordinating with the Syrian regime to sell the gas it used to extract from Jibisa fields, and that the regime’s employees have been working in the facility even during ISIS control.

Jibisa gas facility is considered one of the main gas facilities in northern Syria for its huge production that has been feeding power stations in central Syria. The facility was run by some 500 workers, including specialized engineers, technicians and workers.

Ghariani backed by former GNC president and Derna Mujahideen
[Libya Herald] Anti-Sadek Al-Ghariani posters that have appeared in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
have been denounced by the president of the former General National Congress Nuri Abu Sahmain. He has accused supporters of the Qadaffy regime of putting them up, saying that anyone who agreed with them was a fool and a traitor to the deaders who died for the revolution.

The posters, showing a No Entry sign pasted over a photo of Ghariani and saying "No to the Moslem Brüderbund" and "Enough Bloodshed" effectively accuse him of promoting violence in Libya. They are, however, believed to have been put up by Tripoli militia leader Haithem Tajouri
...Commander of the pro-(Islamist) government First Support Brigade...
who, it is rumoured, intends to arrest him.

Support for Ghariani has meanwhile also come from the Derna, where the controlling mujahideen, supposedly supported by local elders, tribal leaders and civil society activists, have issued as statement stating that Ghariani’s Dar Al-Ifta (Fatwa House) is the source of legitimacy in Libya.

The statement also said that any law at variance with Islamic law was null and void, that the Sharia was the sole basis for legislation, and the Dar Al-Ifta the only competent authority to appoint judges and to arbitrate on laws.

Were Tajouri to arrest Ghariani, it would probably raise his popularity across the country despite the fact that he too is condemned by many Libyans, in his case as corrupt. Ghariani, however, has become far more unpopular and is widely ridiculed, particularly in Tripoli where he is nicknamed Sharshabil, after the malevolent wizard in the Arabic version of the Smufs cartoon series.

Appointed grand mufti by the leader of the national Transitional Council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, in 2011, Ghariani was sacked by the House of Representatives in November 2014 for his interference in political affairs. Even Abdul Jalil decided he had made a mistake and that Ghariani should go because he had lost the confidence of the Libyan people.

Ghariani has raged in particular against Khalifa Hafter and the Libyan National Army, calling on Libyans to go and fight them and claiming they are a greater danger to the country than the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS). Anyone who supports Hafter, he said, would go to Hell while those who died fighting him would be deaders and go to Heaven.

The allegation, however, that Ghariani is the face of the Moslem Brüderbund, does not tally with the facts. When not demonising Hafter, he is usually busy condemning the Presidency Council which the Brotherhood supports. The Brotherhood has been condemned by Ghariani suuporters for doing so.

He is now at the centre of a nationalist, Islamist movement which includes the Derna mujahideen, the Benghazi Defence Brigades and other radicalised militias. While separate to IS, and rejecting its caliphate, it shares much of its ideology.

Despite the contempt and ridicule for him, he is also seen as Libya’s version of Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeni ‐ the country’s supreme guide.

Pledge reaffirmed to root out terrorism

Addressing a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Convention Centre in Islamabad, President Mamnoon Hussain touched upon several important issues, such as terrorism and the National Action Plan, the independence movement, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s advice to the nation, as well as the freedom movement in held Kashmire and Indian atrocities.

. Federal ministers and services chiefs were also present.

The president said the menace of terrorism would be eliminated from the country by carrying out decisive actions with a renewed determination. "Every visible and invisible enemy will be chased and crushed, in order to establish durable peace in the country."

The president said the Zarb-e-Azb

Turkish mosques in Germany back away from Ankara
[IsraelTimes] A key Turkish religious organization in Germany said on Sunday it would further distance itself from Ankara after politicians and media raised concerns of foreign influence.

Mosque federation Ditib "is and will remain politically neutral," front man Zekeriya Altug told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) newspaper.

"Apart from the imams supplied by the Diyanet (The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s religious affairs agency), there is no financial support from the Turkish state or the Diyanet," he said.

Some media and politicians have raised fears of divided loyalties among Germany’s roughly three-million-strong Turkish population -- and suggested Ditib’s imams could be relaying political messages from the Turkish government.

Ditib hosts imams trained in Turkey and paid by Diyanet -- most of whom are unfamiliar with German culture and may not even speak the language -- at its 900 mosques and Islamic associations.

Altug’s comments were more conciliatory than a statement released by Ditib on August 8 in which the group rejected all criticism based on fears of foreign control of its imams.
Second thoughts? Wise, given the mood of the Volk.
The front man said Ditib would look for alternative sources of funding to train and pay preachers.

"In 10 years, at least half our imams will be socialized in Germany" thanks to a Ditib-funded program to send German-born imams for training in Turkey, he said.

Supporters of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

...a lovely city in Germany. They invented perfume there...
and other cities following a failed putsch in July, stoking concerns that internal Turkish tensions could be exported to Germany.

Erdogan complained bitterly to the German government that he had not been allowed to address the crowds in Cologne by video link.
That's Sultan Recep I to you, infidel.
In an interview with the Bild am Sonntag weekly, Berlin Mayor Michael Mueller said Turkish officials had asked whether he would be prepared to act against schools belonging to the Gulen religious movement.

Erdogan accuses US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, a former ally, of orchestrating the July 15 coup attempt.

Mueller said he had "made it very clear that Turkish conflicts cannot be carried out on our soil."

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie ducked another tomato...
the state of Lower Saxony has delayed an agreement to recognize Ditib as its official Moslem civil society organization in the wake of the coup attempt and Erdogan’s harsh response.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos widens grip on Sirte downtown areas
[Libya Observer] The media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos said its forces liberated Sunday afternoon the Indian buildings and advanced into neighborhood 2, which was one of the last hideouts of IS hard boyz in Sirte after heavy festivities.

Earlier, the office said it foiled an attempt by IS to explode two bomb cars that were heading toward the Misrata-led forces who were advancing to neighborhood 2.

"Our forces entered neighborhood 2 and clashed with IS hard boyz with the aid of our forces from the sea frontline, from where they shelled the neighborhood 2 with Grad rockets
...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km....
." The media office indicated.

Sources from the Sirte field hospital reported that 9 fighters were killed from Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos and 74 others were maimed and brought to the hospital due to the neighborhood 2 festivities on Sunday.

Two days ago, Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos announced the kick off of the "Macomedes" operation - named after the ancient name of Sirte city ‐ to liberate the last hideouts of IS hard boyz in the city.
