Guardian: Trump is no fascist. He is a champion for the forgotten millions
h/t Instapundit

Amid the ongoing protests against President Trump, calls for "resistance" among Democratic politicians and activists, and the overheated rhetoric casting Trump and his supporters as fascists and xenophobes, an outsider might be forgiven for thinking that America has been taken over by a small faction of rightwing nationalists.

America is deeply divided, but it’s not divided between fascists and Democrats. It’s more accurate to say that America is divided between the elites and everybody else, and Trump’s election was a rejection of the elites.

The Guardian??!!

When Caterpillar Leaves Peoria, What Will Become Of The Town?
[NPR] It's been a hard week in Peoria.

William Ryan Owens, the Navy Seal who was killed in a raid in Yemen, was from Peoria, Ill. Defense Secretary James Mattis said, "He gave his full measure for our nation."

And the Caterpillar company announced that after more than 90 years, it is moving its world headquarters from Peoria to Chicago. It is hard to overestimate the blow this is to Peoria.

"A kick in the gut," is how Mayor Jim Ardis described it. He told Tanya Koonce, news director at member station WCBU, that Caterpillar's departure is "very sobering and very shocking."

Caterpillar is 59th on the Fortune 500 list of American companies. It makes much of the construction, mining and farming equipment that digs earth all over the world. Caterpillar is why you could walk down Main, Adams or Monroe streets in Peoria and meet people from China, Germany and Nigeria. Peoria has been proud to be the town that sends strong machines to farm and mine the world.

I believe the corporate HQ is moving to Chicago and the manufacturing segment will remain in place. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

#1  They've also announced that they're moving about 800 production jobs to Arkansas from their Aurora, Ill. location.

They've already scaled back their Peoria production workforce and moved various production components to RTW states.

Obama was anti-American; Trump will make us great again
[Myrtle Beach Online] I didn’t vote for President Obama, but I recognized him as the lawfully-elected president of our great nation and dutifully served in our military under his command. During that time, I also served my community as a police officer and again was subject to the leadership of Obama’s administration.

Soldiers and police officers know full well the occupations we enter are fraught with mortal danger from enemies foreign and domestic, but we don’t expect that danger to come from our elected leaders. On both accounts, my life and the lives of my fellow soldiers and officers, were endangered because of the policies of Barack Obama and his social activist underlings.

As a soldier, I witnessed President Obama transform the "Don’t ask, don’t tell" policy towards homosexuals in the military to instead become applicable towards our clear enemy ‐ radical Islamic terrorists. Completely disregarding our national security, President Obama broadcast time lines to the enemy, legitimized Iran’s nuclear ambitions and returned billions of dollars to them, declared red lines he didn’t enforce, and continued releasing hardcore terrorists from Guantanamo, knowing at least one third would return to fight us.

UAE planning first-ever Islamic mission to Mars
1.465,786th holiest place in Islam
The United Arab Emirates is preparing to become the first Islamic nation to launch a mission to Mars.

In 2020, an unmanned craft called Hope will take off from Japan and travel to the red planet.

Last year, religious leaders in the UAE issued a fatwa forbidding Muslims from landing on Mars.

However, the robotic spaceship will not actually touch down on the Martian surface.

'Muslim ban' injunction is a judicial coup against President Trump
BLUF: [American Thinker] It is highly questionable whether federal district courts can issue nationwide injunctions. It is called a federal district court because the court's authority is limited to a district. If it weren't, there would be no need for circuit courts, and we would never see different federal circuits having slightly different laws. One district court could simply impose whatever it likes on the nation. It doesn't work that way.

Judge Robart, who was appointed by George W. Bush (should we be surprised or not?), has clearly usurped his authority. The case clearly has no plaintiffs with standing or any kind of validity. At most, Judge Robart should have stayed his decision pending appeal to circuit courts. His radical injunction smacks of a judicial coup, of a single federal district judge asserting his authority over the entire executive branch. His arguments for doing so are unconstitutional, as is his manner of issuing the order. We are living in a time when judicial ayatollahs are usurping the power of our elected officials, and it is very much like a judicial coup.
Emphasis added.

Sierra Club Chief: Abortion Is Key to ‘Sustainable Population'
[Breitbart] The executive director of the environmentalist Sierra Club said that abortion is a critical tool for protecting the environment from the threat of overpopulation. On Thursday, the Sierra Club’s Michael Brune appeared on Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight to argue for the importance of "reproductive rights" as a means of culling the world’s population and protecting the environment.

Brune said that abortion "helps to address the number of the people that we have on this planet. We feel that one of the ways in which we can get to a sustainable population is to empower women to make choices about their own families."

When abortion is legalized, Brune suggested, it helps keep the population from expanding out of control.

"We believe in empowering women’s rights. We believe that women who have rights and who have the ability to have choice about their reproductive--make their own reproductive choices--will help to produce strong families and will help to protect the environment at the same time."

"Sierra club is pro-choice," Brune said.

Manly Men
My job brings me into contact with lots of young men, ages 18-25. I have been doing this long enough that some of my earliest contacts from that group are entering their mid 30s now. During this timeframe, I have been able to assess their nature and character. Like any generation, there are good ones and bad ones. There are tough ones and weak ones. They come in all shapes and sizes. This is not different than my own generation or the ones before it. However, I have noticed some tendencies that set this younger set of young fellows off from previous generations – there are few manly men.

Now, of course, there are exceptions. There are a few individuals that stand out from the crowd, maintaining traditional manly values and skill sets, but as a whole, most young men are weak. This is the generation that grew up with metrosexuals, hipsters, saggy jeans (and their antithesis, the skinny jeans). They think that growing a carefully trimmed beard (or the other variant – the excessively scraggly bushy beard) exhibits their masculinity.

ATF looks to expand federal presence in Chicago amid violent crime surge
[Wash Times] The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is weighing plans to put additional agents to Chicago in an effort to curb the Windy City’s violent crime surge, a senior agent acknowledged Saturday.

"ATF is exploring various options as we are committed to furthering law enforcement efforts in Chicago," David Coulson, a senior agent at the ATF’s Chicago field office, told USA Today.

"One of those options is to send additional agents to Chicago on permanent transfers," he added, though no plans yet yet to be finalized, the newspaper reported.

The agent’s acknowledgment came on the heels of CNN reporting Friday that the ATF plans to deploy approximately 20 agents to Chicago in a bid to "beef up" the federal presence there, citing two federal law enforcement officials familiar with the plans.

"We have received no word from the federal government to confirm these reports, but it would be welcome news if the administration has indeed agreed to one of Mayor Emanuel’s requests for federal resources," Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office told CNN on Friday.

#1  Yet another 'more people - more money' gov't solution.

"Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives" are NOT the problem. Aberrant attitudes, lawless behavior, drugs, and a permissive legal system are the problem. It's the people, not the guns.

Here's some ideas: Most of the killing happens during the hours of darkness. How about a dusk to dawn curfew? Work permits... (shouldn't need more than a dozen or so). Armed patrols. Stop and frisk. Dogs, lots of drug dogs.

..I suspect, however, that the last thing Hizzoner really wants is agents of this Federal Gummint wandering around Chitown. Had it been President Clinton making that call, no probs for him - things would be Understood. But with DJT at the top there's way too many things to find that could be...problematic.

Asia Times Essay: Look Back Anger Unplugged.
[..]
That ’syphilis of revolutionary passions’

Responding to that silly neo-Hegelian "end of history" meme at the end of the Cold War, Allan Bloom warned that fascism might be the future; and John Gray telegraphed the return of "primordial forces, nationalist and religious, fundamentalist and soon, perhaps, Malthusian."

And that leads us to why the exceptional bearers of Enlightenment humanism and rationalism cannot explain the current geopolitical turmoil ‐ from ISIS to Brexit to Trump. They could never come up with anything more sophisticated than binary opposition of "free" and "unfree"; the same 19th century Western clichés about the non-West; and the relentless demonization of that perennially backward Other: Islam. Hence the new "long war" (Pentagon terminology) against "Islamofascism."

They could never understand, as Mishra stresses, the implications of that meeting of minds in a Supermax prison in Colorado between Oklahoma City bomber, all-American Timothy McVeigh, and the mastermind of the first attack on the World Trade Center, Ramzi Yousef (non-devout Muslim, Pakistani father, Palestinian mother).

And they cannot understand how ISIS conceptualizers can regiment, online, an insulted, injured teenager from a Parisian suburb or an African shantytown and convert him into a narcissist ‐ Baudelairean? ‐ dandy loyal to a rousing cause worth fighting for. The parallel between the DIY jihadi and the 19th century Russian terrorist ‐ incarnating the "syphilis of the revolutionary passions," as Alexander Herzen described it ‐ is uncanny.

And the DIY jihadi’s top enemy is not even Christian; it’s the "apostate" Shi’ite. Mass rapes, choreographed murders, the destruction of Palmyra, Dostoyevsky had already identified it all; as Mishra puts it, "it’s impossible for modern-day Raskolnikovs to deny themselves anything, and possible to justify anything."

It’s impossible to summarize all the rhizomatic (hat tip to Deleuze-Guattari) intellectual crossfire deployed by Age of Anger. What’s clear is that to understand the current global civil war, archeological reinterpretation of the West’s hegemonic narrative of the past 250 years is essential. Otherwise we will be condemned, like puny Sisyphean specks, to endure not only the recurrent nightmare of history but also its recurrent blowback.

#1  This little essay attempts to find something new in an old and dirty pile of poop.

The West colonized much of the world because much of the world was much as it is now, only without the modern weaponry. Islam has been at war with the West since its invention. North Africa was infested by pirates, most of it ruled by mostly autonomous Ottoman beys. The Ottoman rule of much of the Middle East was in its last stages of corruption and decadence. Subsaharan Africa was inhabited by primitives; they still occasionally eat a few pygmies, and much of the continent is still ruled by kleptomaniac dictators, not much of an improvement over tribal chieftains. India was split among Moslem and Hindu princelings who spent a good deal of their time plotting, planning, and oppressing each other -- notice that Pakistain grew out of it, and still maintains much the same relationship with India. China's Ching dynasty was in the final stages of decadent collapse and large area were ruled by warlords. That's not to say the West was blameless; recall the Belgian Congo, German Namibia, and Italian rule in the Horn of Africa. Recall Spanish rule most places. But it's to say that the natives weren't blameless. Those who were savages weren't in the least noble.

What all those places shared was a misplaced arrogance combined with a healthy dose of dynastic incompetence. (Darkest Africa may have lacked the arrogance; I don't know.) Military interventions in the early stages of the Age of Imperialism were mostly a matter of self defense. Once the precedent was set, of course, conquering the primitives became an end in itself. The aborigines needed the benefits of civilization.

There are post-colonial success stories today, but I can remember being told to think of the starving children in India so I'd eat my supper. That was within living memory since I'm not dead yet. My childhood playmates' fathers had fought the Japanese. I can remember the Great Cultural Revolution in China. That was even more recent.

China, Japan, South Korea, and India -- the success stories of post-colonialism -- today are closer to the West in outlook than are most of the inhabitants of the Moslem world, while still retaining their distinctive national identities. The Moslem world retains its ummah outlook and if it weren't for oil they'd still be either riding camels and waving scimitars or they'd be ruled by Ottomans, with potential rivals to the Sultan getting strangled with a bowstring.

"We have reversed the provisional revocation of visas," the State Department official said in a statement. "Those individuals with visas that were not physically canceled may now travel if the visa is otherwise valid."

#6 Hate to break the news to you Devil Dog but our FID missions in IRQ and AFG have been total failures. 100's of SF lives and 100's of millions of dollars - failure. IRQ is lost and AFG is Vietnam in late 71 early 72 - just waiting for the Easter Offensive. We f'd up both places and we just don't have the sense or balls to own up it.

I absolutely and emphatically agree. My point was, the FID failure came looooong before DJT. I probably should have referred to it (AFG FID effort) as a cock-up. No 'Devil Dog' here, by the way.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Carr: New crop of books nobody wants
[BOSTONHERALD] Try to restrain your excitement -- Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
, John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, unsuccessful presidential candidate, and utterly failed Secretary of State...
and John Kasich
...political has-been current Republican governor of Ohio...
are all writing books.

Think how many trees are going to die for ... what? And then there’s the carbon footprint. All those trucks taking all those thousands of books to warehouses and stores, then picking them up after they don’t sell and taking them to some place to be pulped -- at which point maybe they can at least be recycled into something more useful, like toilet paper.

Let’s start with Kerry’s proposed book. It’s going to be his "first memoir," which you could take as a threat -- there may be a sequel! Sadly, as someone pointed out yesterday, Kerry’s obvious title is already taken -- "American Gigolo."

You’ll be surprised to learn that he plans to mention his service in Vietnam, not to mention a "deep behind-the-scenes" take on his years as secretary of state.

Finally, we will learn the answer to that question we’ve been pondering all these years. Does Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad prefer red or white wine with dinner?

A few suggested chapters: "Windsurfing for Dummies," and "Me and My Pink Girly Bike."

Self-help books have always done very well. Kerry should think along the lines of "You Too Can Marry an Heiress -- or Two!" Or he could offer more prosaic tips -- "You Can Fight City Hall -- How I Got that Pesky Fire Plug Moved."

Then there’s Gov. John Kasich. His long-unawaited book is coming out in April. Another obvious title: "Son of a Mailman." But no, his tome is going to be called "Two Paths."

An Ohio newspaper claimed that this weighty opus enables the bust-out 2016 candidate to "leave his options open for a possible 2020 bid for president."

They’re kidding, right? As the late Mumbles Menino used to say, hope burns eternal. But seriously ...

The blockbuster new book, though, is by Hillary Clinton. It’s being published in September by Simon & Schuster, which is owned by CBS, or should I say, "See BS." No word on what her advance was, but last September, even the worshipful New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
couldn’t help noticing the downward trajectory of her first-week sales.

Her first book, in 2003, sold about 500,000 copies in its first week. Her 2014 "memoir" could only manage 85,000.

And then there was that final campaign book last fall, "Stronger Together." It sold a whopping 2,912 copies.

In retrospect, those numbers should have been an early warning to the Democrats that perhaps the election wasn’t going to be the slam dunk they thought it would be.

But now See BS is going to give Hillary yet another huge advance they have absolutely no chance of ever recovering. According to a blurb, Hillary will use "some of her favorite quotes to ’tell stories from her life.’"

Does she mean quotes from other people, like, "I did not have sex with that Ms. Lewinsky."

Or, "You better put some ice on that."

I think she thought it was funny but it wasn't. It was a waste of her money because the book went straight into the trash without ever being read. Oh well, it was her money and she could spend it any way she pleased.

U.N. Peacekeepers Say Attacked by Mobs in South Leb
[An Nahar] Groups of civilians attacked United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
peacekeepers on patrol in two incidents in southern Leb on Friday, damaging their vehicles but causing no injuries, the mission said in a statement.

The U.N. Interim Force in Leb (UNIFIL) said two patrols in the al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun areas in south Leb were obstructed on Friday morning "by groups of aggressive men."

"Civilians attempted to block the way of UNIFIL patrols and attacked the peacekeepers," the statement said.

"UNIFIL patrol vehicles had to push aside some civilian vehicles used as roadblocks in order to safely pull out from the locations."

The statement said no peacekeepers were maimed in the incidents, which caused "severe damages" to UNIFIL vehicles.

It gave no indication of the reason for the incidents, or any prior tension in the area, and said the mission was in touch with the Lebanese army to determine the cause of the attacks.

The 10,000-strong UNIFIL mission monitors the ceasefire line between Leb and Israel, which remain technically in a state of war.

[Chicago Tribune] ... I voted for Trump because he was the alternative to letting a collection of free spenders, organizers, race-baiters, intellectuals, tree huggers and professional value arbitrators continue to spend our grandchildren's money.

This country and this generation of voters must pay our bills and not sit around having dorm-room debates on philosophy and injustice. I voted for Trump because we can't afford another president we simply like; we need one now who does something.

So, go ahead -- rage, riot, demonstrate, burn, dress up, march, protest, pout, sing, make speeches, resist, vandalize and denounce me as much as you want. I am deplorable, and I am happier with my vote every day.

Militias launch Raqqa assault
[OMANTRIBUNE] An alliance of US-backed militias said it had begun a new phase of its campaign against the Daish-held city of Raqqa on Saturday and aimed to complete its encirclement.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a statement the action was being undertaken with "increasing support from the (US-led) international coalition forces through guaranteeing air cover for our forces’ advances, or via the help provided by their special teams to our forces on the battle ground".

The rebels, however, said they needed more weapons to win.

The SDF launched their campaign to capture the city last November and have taken some ground further up the Euphrates Valley but are still some distance away.

The SDF "announce the beginning of the third phase to liberate Raqa and its surroundings, which will target the eastern part of the province," spokeswoman Jihan Sheikh Ahmed said.

Speaking in the village of Aaliyah, north of the city, Ahmed said 750 more Arab fighters had joined the SDF after being trained by the US-led coalition.

The coalition has carried out air strikes against Daish in Syria and Iraq since 2014.

Palestinian injured after Israeli settlers raid village, throw stones
[MAANNEWS] A Paleostinian man sustained bruises on Saturday evening after dozens of Israeli settlers raided the town of Huwwara south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank and hurled stones at his vehicle.
What's the Hebrew word for "intifada?"
A local official who monitors settlement-related activities in the northern West Bank, Ghassan Daghlas, told Ma'an that the settlers came from the illegal Yitzhar settlement and stormed the western neighborhood of Huwwara and threw stones at Salim Salemeh's car.

Daghlas added that the settlers also started to attack Paleostinian homes in the neighborhood, but residents fought them back and forced them to leave the area.

Last week, Israeli settlers injured a Paleostinian man and damaged ten vehicles while throwing stones at Paleostinian vehicles on the main road between Ramallah and Nablus.

Flynn’s plan to beat radical Islam starts with schools and social media
[NYPOST] President Trump’s national security adviser wants to fight not just Islamic Lions of Islam but the "radical ideology of Islam," and he plans to do it from the grass roots up, starting with our children at schools while also using social media.

Dealing with the global Islamist threat on a tactical level through dronezaps and arrests hasn’t worked, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn argues, according to his largely overlooked 2016 book, "The Field of Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies." He wants to combat it more broadly, using informational warfare, among other things, on a scale not seen since World War II.

But first, he writes, the government has to overcome the political taboo of tying Islamic violence to the religion of Islam, including its sacred texts, which he says the enemy is using as a manual of warfare.

Last week, Trump asked Flynn to work with the Pentagon and other security agencies to draft a comprehensive plan to not only defeat ISIS on the battlefield but "delegitimize its radical Islamist ideology," and have it on his desk by the end of this month.

Advance details of the plan can be gleaned from Flynn’s book. In it, the 33-year Army veteran proposes discrediting the "evil (religious) doctrines" motivating jihadists -- namely the Islamic rewards for martyrdom (or suicidal terrorism) and the totalitarian tenets of Sharia law -- using psy-ops and counter-propaganda, not just through federal government channels but also through "our schools, media and social networks."

"If we can’t tackle enemy doctrines that call for our domination or extinction," Flynn writes, "we aren’t going to destroy their jihadis."

U.S. Army Corps Gives Eviction Notice to Dakota Access Protest Camp
[NBCNEWS] The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given a evacuation order to those protesting at the Dakota Access Pipeline camp in Cannon Ball, North Dakota.

In a statement Friday evening, the Corps said it would close the Oceti Sakowin Camp, which sits on approximately 50 acres of Corps land, on Feb. 22 due to the "high potential for flooding" in the low-lying area.

The land sits at the confluence of the Missouri and Cannonball Rivers, which the Corps says puts it at particular risk of flooding after a winter of record snowfall in the region.

The Corps said oil erosion and pollution -- which it attributed to the "unauthorized placement of structures, vehicles, personal property, and fires" on the land over the course of more than six months -- could result in contaminated runoff into both rivers.

"As stewards of the public lands and natural resources, we have a responsibility to the public to prevent injuries and loss of life," said U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District Commander, Col. John Henderson. "We must also ensure our precious water resources are free from pollution due to human activities and respect for all who rely on this water for their livelihoods."

A senior U.S. Defense official confirmed to NBC News that members of Congress were notified today of the decision.

The decision could be the final, decisive blow for a protest movement that began at the camp in early August with just a few dozen protesters -- who call themselves water protectors -- from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and blossomed into a movement captivated the nation with thousands of Native Americans and environmental activists flocking to the remote North Dakota plains to stop the $3.7 billion pipeline.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man freed early from life sentence by Obama back in jail
[MYSANANTONIO] A San Antonio man who was freed from life in prison by President Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
is back behind bars after allegedly crashing his vehicle into another motorist and undercover police cars while fleeing from a drug deal Thursday.

Robert M. Gill, 68, whose life sentence for cocaine and heroin distribution conspiracy was commuted by Obama and expired in 2015, was profiled last year in the Express-News about his readjustment to life on the outside.

Jailed from the time of his arrest in 1990, Gill earned a legal education inside prison libraries and successfully petitioned the then-president for a second chance after his court appeals were exhausted.

He was taken to federal court Friday, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry Bemporad ordered him held without bond pending a bail hearing on Feb. 16. Gill is charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

He again faces a potential sentence with a mandatory minimum, five years, and could get up to 40.

Gill was one of about 1,700 federal inmates whose sentences Obama commuted as part of a broader campaign to give relief to nonviolent offenders serving long prison terms that dated to a frenzied period in the nation’s war on drugs.

Obama wrote in a signed notification that he granted Gill’s application "because you have demonstrated the potential to turn your life around. ... Now it is up to you to make the most of this opportunity."

In interviews last year, Gill said he sustained hope even as his three co-defendants died behind bars.

"I believed there were people in government with rational minds who sooner or later would realize that the sentence wasn’t fair," Gill said last year. "Yes, you have the thought that you’re going to die in prison -- that’s a human reaction. But there’s always the possibility that they’ll acknowledge the injustice."

The Trump opposition: Hell hath no fury like Democrats' scorn
[THEHILL] If the B.O. regime has proved anything, it was that if you repeat lies loud enough and long enough, sooner or later the people will believe them.

Enter Rep. John Lewis, he of the impeccable civil rights pedigree, who told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press: "I don’t see the president-elect as a legitimate president. I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected."

It was a flat-out "conspiracy." And as such, he would not be attending the inauguration--"It will be the first one that I miss since I’ve been in Congress."

Not quite. Apparently he forgot that he also boycotted George Bush’s 2001 swearing-in--denying the legitimacy of that election as well.

But truth be told, there have always been cracks in Lewis’ righteousness. His default position has always been to paint his political rivals as unworthy and racist -- particularly likening them to George Wallace, the segregationist governor of Alabama during the 1960s and ’70s.

In 2008, Lewis attacked John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. As an ordinary citizen he greased the infamous hookers peeing on the Obamabed in Moscow dossier in an attempt to smear President Trump...
(and Sarah Mama Grizzly Palin
... the babe libs love to hate ...
) for "sowing the seeds of hatred and division" and suggested that McCain was reminiscent of Wallace--a charge for which McCain has never forgiven Lewis.

During last year’s primaries, the Wallace comparisons were raised: "I’ve been around a while and Trump reminds me so much of a lot of things that George Wallace said and did."

And most recently, at the confirmation hearings of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Lewis invoked Wallace yet again, saying "calls for law and order will mean today what it meant in Alabama when I was coming up back then."

The list goes back almost 40 years.

As the charge of Trump’s illegitimacy roils on, it will warm Lewis’ heart that plans are afoot for to impeach President Trump. (Lewis called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush.) Two civil rights groups, Free Speech for People and RootsAction have launched a new website, and have called on supporters to join a petition demanding Congress determine whether there is enough evidence--on the grounds of conflicts of interest--to warrant Trump’s impeachment. Picking up the baton, the American Civil Liberties Union is in the process of obtaining government documents to see if these claims can be substantiated.

In the end, like Iran’s stance towards Israel, to Democrats--the destruction of President Donald J. Trump is non-negotiable.

Caribbean-Latin America
Trump may confront hostile Venezuela
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Just as the United States is undergoing a political transition of its own, Venezuela's dubious regime has taken the provocative step of empowering an anti-U.S. hardliner with ties to narcotraffickers and Middle Eastern terrorism.

Many Americans may consider Venezuela's collapsing economy, food shortages, and political upheaval as none of our business. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
the recent power grab of reputed drug kingpin and Hezbollah ally, Tareck el-Aissami, as Venezuela's vice president poses a clear and present danger to the security of the United States and its neighbors.

President Trump's foreign policy team can convert a potential crisis into an early victory by working with key neighbors to fashion a multilateral rescue of Venezuela, backed up by targeted sanctions against El-Aissami and other corrupt leaders who traffic in drugs and abet international terrorism.
It would be a better, longer-term victory (a fair bit callous, I admit) to let Venezuela collapse thoroughly and completely on its own. Go in now to rescue it and the socialists will claim for the next hundred years that the mess there was all the fault of American imperialists...
Courageous Venezuelans are struggling to save their country through democratic means; but they are confronting a ruthless regime that is micromanaged by Cuba and propped up by sweetheart deals with Russia and China. Senior Venezuelan officials have conspired with Colombian narco-guerrillas and Hezbollah snuffies to amass illicit fortunes and advance anti-U.S. operations. All of these forces benefit from keeping a lawless government in power in Caracas, even as the Venezuelan economy crumbles and a humanitarian crisis grows.

Iraqi warbirds hammer ISIS positions in Ain al-Wakhma

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi military jets pounded on Saturday Islamic State locations in Anbar, killing an indefinite number of militants, a statement by the Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

The strikes targeted extremists locations in Ain al-Wakhma, destroying an explosives store which contained TNT and C4 used by the group for rockets, the ministry said on facebook.

Also in Anbar, Lieutenant Mohamed al-Dailami, from the army’s Anbar Operations, said Islamic State fighters had begun to erect “invisible berms” at Anbar desert, along the Trebil border crossing with Jordan, He noted that the move comes as both countries prepare to open the crossing for travelers and trade.

“Current operations by the Iraqi forces seek to push terrorist elements away from the international road,” he said, adding that checkpoints and military reinforcements have been supplied to that road.

Islamic State has been holding a number of towns in western Anbar since 2014. Iraqi and international coalition fighter jets have occasionally pounded the group’s pockets there. The government has yet to give orders to security and tribal forces in the province to carry out a ground invasion of those hideouts. A brief security operation, which was not officially declared by the Iraqi government, launched on January 5th and recaptured a few villages in western Anbar before halting again.

Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led military coalition, have been fighting Islamic State militants in several pockets across Iraq, most notably the city of Mosul, where operations since October killed at least 3300 militants and confined the group in the city’s western section.

The group has been reportedly sustaining serious losses in personnel, equipment and finances, and reports say it had been ravaged with divisions and infighting, with some fighters also executed or demoted for escaping the battlefield.

The United Nations’ envoy to Iraq, Yan Kubish, said Thursday that the group’s days in Iraq were “numbered”.

Novel light absorber can give you stealth power
[OMANTRIBUNE] The invisibility cloak in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows may soon become a reality if engineers from the University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, United States can develop the near-perfect broadband absorber that they have invented further.

This thin, flexible and light-weight material can cool your room on hot sunny days, may give you stealth features by blocking thermal detection and absorb light from every angle.

The absorber can be theoretically customised to absorb certain wavelengths of light while letting others pass through.

"This material offers broadband, yet selective absorption that could be tuned to distinct parts of the electromagnetic spectrum," said Zhaowei Liu, Professor at UC San Diego in a paper published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Although material that can absorb light already exists,

ISIS blocks aid route in Yarmouk Camp, people suffer
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
has blocked food supply route to the western neighborhoods in Yarmouk refugee cam south of the capital, making the already severe living condition of 350 people harder, residents said.

ISIS has closed the only remaining humanitarian route to the neighborhoods of al-Riji and Ain Gazool western Yermouk camp, controlled by Jabhat Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
, formerly Nusra Front, after refusing leaving their houses.

ISIS and the regime are together besieging the Western part of the camp, as ISIS blocks the Southern and Western sides, while the regime’s forces block the entrance to the area passing through areas controlled by the regime-allied Paleostinian militias of Ahmed Jibril from the Western and Northern sides.

There are almost 350 civilians mostly women, children and elderly in the besieged area. A source confirmed that they have nothing to do with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, but there bad luck is that their homes are within that area of Yarmouk camp.

The sources added that people in neighborhoods of Riji and Ain Ghazal live tragic conditions under the blockade and lack of clean water, food and sources of heating, as they had used plastics and old shoes for heating and cooking.

People of Yarmouk had earlier appealed many times to keep them away from the ongoing conflict in the camp and allow food, drinking water and other living needs to enter their areas.

Om Alaa, a resident of the besieged Riji neighborhood said: "We live in oppressive conditions due to siege, I am 50 years old and I have Diabetes and I need medications,, but I the barrier is closed for more than 20 days, no food, no water, the Syrian regime surrounding us from one side an ISIS from the other.

According to the local government officials, the couple was rubbed out in Yousuf Khel district.

Provincial police chief Abdul Rauf Masoud confirmed the incident and said unknown murderous Moslems stormed into the house of the holy man.

Without providing further information regarding the identity of the dear departed, Masoud said the victim did not have any issues and enmity with any individual or group.

He said an investigation is underway to find out the main motive behind the liquidation of the holy man.

In the meantime, reports suggest the victim had joined grinding of the peace processor in this province around three years ago.

Hekmatyar’s name removed from UN Security Council sanctions list
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The name of Hezb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
has been removed from the sanctions list of the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Security Council (UNSC).

According to a statement by UNSC, "On 3 February 2017, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIS (Da’esh), Al‑Qaeda and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities removed the name below from the ISIS (Da’esh) and al-Qaeda Sanctions List."

UNSC disclosed the name of Hekmatyar after he was removed from the sanctions list, providing all the details regarding the Hezb-e-Islami leader, including date of birth and the date he was included in the list.

"Therefore, the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 2 of Security Council resolution 2253 (2015) no longer apply to the name set out below," the statement added.

This comes as a etter was formally sent by the Afghan government to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) late last year to remove the leaders of Hezb-e-Islami from the sanctions list.

Possible Afghan Gov't truce with Hekmatyar, to arrive in Kabul along with his followers.

More civilians wounded with unexploded munitions in Sirte
Tripoli, 4 February 2017:

The continuing danger to returning residents of unexploded ordinance in Sirte was shown again today when a father and two of his children were injured by a landmine outside their house.

The property had reportedly once been used as an IS operations room. The mine that exploded was by the front door. Fortunately for the family, who had just come back to their home, the injuries were no more serious than burns and an injured hand.

Sirte is peppered with landmines left by IS terrorists. Mayor Mukhtar Al-Madani last week appealed for greater international and local help in dealing with unexploded ordinance.

Only two days ago three children were hurt by an explosion in Sirte when small arms ammunition was thrown onto a fire.

The news came as Al-Madani held talks with military officials and the operations team in charge of getting Sirte residents home. Some 700 are due back tomorrow morning, as part of a six-stage programme to return the townsfolk, some of whom no longer have any homes to come back to.

Infamous Picture-Ruining Yellow Car in Famous English Village Vandalised
[BREITBART] Vandals have struck a banana yellow car blamed for ruining visitors’ photos of a famous English village.

"Move," someone scratched into the hood of Peter Maddox’s car in the Cotswolds village of Bibury as part of a January rampage that caused around 6,000 pounds ($8,000) in damages.

For the past three years, the 84-year-old widower has parked his Vauxhall Corsa outside his retirement cottage on Arlington Row in Bibury. The grey-stone 14th century homes are among the oldest inhabited dwellings in Britannia and feature in the artwork of British passports.

With locals’ public backing, the retired dentist says he won’t have his style dictated by tourists. Told by mechanics that his car was probably an insurance write-off, Maddox says he plans to buy a replacement -- in lime green.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Democratic Forces launch new anti-ISIS operation in eastern Raqqa
[ARA] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Saturday announced the launch of the third phase of Euphrates Wrath Operation in Raqqa, a campaign aimed at isolating the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in its de facto capital.

Cihan Shekh Ehmed, the SDF’s official Spokesperson for the Euphrates Wrath Operation, said in a press conference that the new phase will be focused on securing the eastern countryside of Raqqa.

“As the [SDF-led] military operations [against ISIS] continue in western Raqqa, today we announce the third phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation in eastern Raqqa,” she said.

“The third phase is aimed at liberating the eastern countryside of Raqqa Governorate from ISIS, and save our people there from ISIS terrorism,” Cihan said. “The brutality of this terrorist group increases as we close in on its de facto capital.”

The SDF spokeswoman pointed out that the people of Raqqa have fully supported the SDF-led Euphrates Wrath Operation. “All social components in Raqqa have shown support to the Syrian Democratic Forces in the operation. The local tribal leaders have supported the SDF throughout this operation.”

She also stressed the key role of the international coalition, led by the United States, in the operation.

“Also, the US-led coalition has played a key role in our progress in Raqqa through providing an air cover to our troops on the ground, beside the logistical support and training,” Cihan said.

“This phase of the campaign is aimed at completing the isolation of the ISIS-held Raqqa city. Various factions are participating in this phase of the Euphrates Wrath, beside a large number of young fighters from the recently liberated areas, who volunteered to join the SDF in the fight for Raqqa,” the SDF official said. “The SDF, in cooperation with the US-led coalition, have trained the new recruits and equipped them to join the third phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation against ISIS.”

This comes amid continued military operations by the Kurdish-led SDF troops against ISIS in the vicinity of Raqqa.

The SDF announced that it has captured over 2500 km2 in western Raqqa Governorate as part of the second phase of the US-backed Euphrates Wrath Operation, launched on 10 December. The polyethnic alliance also confirmed that they had cleared 196 villages and dozens of farms.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, which began on November 6, the SDF liberated roughly 560 km² in northern Raqqa. “Thus, since the beginning of the battle for Raqqa, 3200 square kilometers have been cleared, including 236 villages.”

Teheran stages military drill, defies US curbs
[OMANTRIBUNE] Iran is holding a military exercise on Saturday to test its missile and radar systems, a day after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s administration imposed sanctions on Teheran for a recent ballistic missile test.

The United States sanctioned 13 individuals and 12 entities related to Iran’s missile programme and Trump’s national security adviser Michael Flynn said the United States was putting Iran on notice over its "destabilising activity".

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards website said that the aim of the military exercise in Semnan province was to "showcase the power of Iran’s revolution and to dismiss the sanctions."

Iranian state news agencies reported that home-made missile systems, radars, command and control centres, and cyber warfare systems would be tested in the drill.

The Guards said the manoeuvres in the northeastern province of Semnan were aimed at demonstrating their "complete preparedness to deal with the threats" and "humiliating sanctions" from Washington.

"Different types of domestically produced radar and missile systems, command and control centres, and cyber warfare systems will be used in this exercise," the Guards’ website said.

The new sanctions do not yet mean that Washington has abandoned commitments it made to lift measures aimed at Iran’s nuclear programme, US officials said.

More than 40 Detained in Chile for Spreading Forest Fires
[An Nahar] Authorities have detained 43 people suspected of stoking some of the deadly Chilean forest fires that have killed 11 people and destroyed large swaths of land, President Michelle Bachelet said.

For nearly two weeks, fires have raged across seven regions in south and central Chile, devastating more than 400,000 hectares (988,000 acres), Bachelet said in her latest update on the tragedy.

She added that 43 people were tossed into the calaboose "for their possible responsibility in the forest fires."

Most of the suspects were apprehended in the hardest-hit regions of O'Higgins, Maule and Biobio. They could face a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Of the 130 active forest fires, 50 are under control while 66 others are still being battled, officials said.

The Chilean government is distributing aid to those affected by the blaze, most of whom are farmers and ranchers whose homes, animals and land has been destroyed.

More than 11,000 people are working to extinguish the fires, including members of the military, police, public officials and residents.

Of these, more than a half have come from abroad to help with what Chile has called the largest emergency operation in its history.

Lawyers for his firm filed complaints Friday in London against the former spy and his company, and against BuzzFeed and its editor in chief, Ben Smith, in Broward County Circuit Court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where XBT’s subsidiary Webzilla is headquartered.

"The dossier included libelous, unverified and untrue allegations regarding XBT, Webzilla and Gubarev. The lawsuits seek yet undetermined compensation for the damages suffered by XBT, Webzilla and Gubarev as the result of the publication of the dossier," a statement said.

Iraq
ISIS infiltrating into Kirkuk
Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Dozens of Islamic State members are entering Kirkuk everyday sneaking in the middle of refugees flowing on the province, al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) said.

“Daesh (Islamic State) militants are entering (the province) everyday hiding among refugees, and dozens of them are currently at refugee camps in Kirkuk,” said Hussein al-Jubouri, a commander of al-Shohadaa brigade, one component of al-Hashd al-Shaabi.

He urged security authorities to thoroughly screen the names of incoming refugees before granting them entry. “Al-Hashd forces in Hawija maintain a audio-video database of IS members in regions under the group’s control in southwestern Kirkuk,” Jubouri said. “Information we had received from sources vin Hawija denote a surge in the group’s elements there to more than 2000, mostly Iraqi natives.”

Refugee camps in Kirkuk have received tens of refugees everyday fleeing southwestern regions under IS control since security forces launched operations in October to clear the neighboring city of Mosul from group extremists, leaving at least 191.000 displaced according to a latest government count.

Local tribal leaders in Kirkuk have recently attacked the Iraqi government for delay in launching operations against IS in the province. But on Saturday, Hadi al-Ameri, a senior leader at al-Hashd, which is actively backing the Iraqi forces against IS, said operations would launch soon in Kirkuk.

Top Ukrainian Rebel Official Killed in Car Bomb
[An Nahar] The top military official of a self-proclaimed separatist republic in eastern Ukraine was killed by boom-mobile Saturday, the latest victim of a string of similar attacks, local media reported.

Oleg Anashchenko, head of the military department of the Lugansk People's Republic, died in a car kaboom, the pro-Russian rebels' news agency said.

The blast, which took place in the rebels' de facto capital of Lugansk, was "a terrorist act" that also took the life of another one person, the report said.

It accused Ukrainian forces of killing Anashchenko in a claim denied by Kiev.

The latest incident echoed a similar one in August when the same republic's leader Igor Plotnitsky was injured in a suspected boom-mobileing.

Lugansk is the smaller of two breakaway pro-Russian provinces that have been fighting Ukrainian government forces for 33 months.

Senior Donetsk rebel officials have also been killed in an apparent power struggle.

The latest blast coincided with a surge in fighting between Ukrainian troops and those from the neighbouring self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk which has killed 35 people since Sunday.

ISIS seizes sheep in Salahuddin
No more Yezdi women available, it seems...
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants have seized sheep herds from civilians in Salahuddin under the pretext that they belonged to “apostates”, according to sources.

A local source in the province told Alsumaria News that Islamic State extremists seized the animals from residents of the eastern section of the northern town of Shirqat because they belonged to “apostate” security and government employees.

“Incidents of plundering of civilians belongings by Daesh (Islamic State) have soared as the group attempts to get away with as much bounty as it can before security launch operations to liberate the eastern area,” the source said.

Islamic State is still maintaining a few strongholds in Salahuddin, Anbar and Kirkuk since it took over several Iraqi regions in 2014 to establish its so-called “Islamic Caliphate”. The Iraqi government, backed by a U.S.-led military coalition and popular paramilitary units, is currently fighting the group out of Mosul, its largest stronghold in Iraq, and further operations are expected targeting other pockets after the recapture of Mosul.

Since security operations launched, the group has occasionally been reported to impose taxes and forcibly take away civilian possessions to offset erosion in its warfare finances and to pay delayed salaries for its fighters.

U.S. Settlement Remarks Challenge Israel, Alarm Palestinians
[An Nahar] Israel discovered Friday that settlement construction may not be as simple as it thought under U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, implying it would tone down activity ahead of crucial Washington talks.

Paleostinians, however, were worried by the Trump administration's first direct statements on the issue made since the January 20 inauguration.
Some people are never happy, especially those who don't want to be...
The White House issued a statement seeming to tone down Trump's full-throated support of settlement construction after a series of Israeli announcements on thousands of new homes in settlements, as well as plans to build a new settlement for the first time since 1992.

But the remarks did not criticize the very existence of Jewish settlements in Paleostinian territories as previous U.S. administrations had consistently done.

"While we don't believe the existence of settlements is an impediment to peace, the construction of new settlements or the expansion of existing settlements beyond their current borders may not be helpful," White House front man Sean Spicer told news hounds on Thursday.

(ISIS) on Friday captured strategic areas northeast of Damascus.

ISIS seized control of three military bases in the Qalamoun region northeast of the Syrian capital, after festivities with pro-regime’s army troops.

"The myrmidon group is now in control of three major army bases in the Qalamoun, including headquarters of the Brigade 559, the Chemical Brigade and al-Mahjoura base," local media activist Wassim Doghmoush told ARA News.

Dozens of casualties were reported on both sides.

According to the ISIS-linked Amaq Agency, at least 30 Syrian soldiers were killed in the Qalamoun festivities.

"Islamic State jihadis launched the operation from three directions, using heavy artillery and mortar fire, forcing the army to evacuate the three bases," Doghmoush said.

Friday’s progress may enable ISIS to storm the Syrian army’s S-Airbase in the Qalamoun region.

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

1 dead in bomb attack in Suweib

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) One person was killed and four others were wounded on Saturday when a bomb blast rocked an area south of Baghdad, sources said.

A police source told Alsumaria News that an explosive device went off near a building materials store in Suweib, south of the capital.

Violence surged in Iraq with the emergence of Islamic State militants who took over large areas of the country in 2014. Baghdad has been witnessing almost daily bombings targeting civilians and security personnel.

Nobody has claimed responsibility yet for the Monday bombing, but IS militants have said they had been responsible for several bloody explosions that hit the capital in the past months, bringing the governorate municipal and security officials under critics’ fire.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said violence in the country left 19000 casualties in nine months of 2016.

Observers believe Islamic State have begun to escalate attacks outside the city of Mosul, where the group has been losing ground and personnel since October, so as to relieve pressure by government forces on that front and to divert attention from group losses.

While losing Mosul could be the severest blow to the group’s existence in Iraq, some observers believe attacks outside the province prove that the extremist group can still pose a security threat for all cities.

Thousands rally in Tel Aviv against 'racist' Israeli state and home demolitions
[MAANNEWS] Thousands rallied in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Saturday evening in protest of home demolitions targeting Paleostinian citizens of Israel, with demonstrators calling the Israeli state’s demolition campaign "racist" and an act of "incitement" against Paleostinian citizens.

Protesters reportedly called on Israeli Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan to resign for "lying" to the Israeli public, saying they held him responsible for the killings that took place during a raid to evacuate the Negev region Bedouin community of Umm al-Hiran last month.

Local math teacher in Umm al-Hiran Yacoub Abu al-Qian was rubbed out on Jan. 18 by police before Israeli authorities demolishes more than a dozen structures in the village, with authorities claiming he was carrying out a deliberate vehicular attack, in contradiction to numerous eyewitness reports and video evidence that attested his car spun out of control only after Israeli police opened fired on him.

Tribesmen kill 13 militants in Yemen
[OMANTRIBUNE] Yemeni rustics on Saturday killed 13 Al Qaeda rebels who had slipped back into a southern town hours after pulling out in the face of street protests, a security official said.

The turbans had reemerged during the night and sought to take control of public buildings in the Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province town of Loder, the official said.

They met with fierce resistance from armed residents and withdrew after shootouts lasting two hours.

Separately, the US military promptly withdrew an old video by bully boyz it had released on Friday as evidence that a fatal raid in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
by American special forces this week was a counter terrorism success.

An expert in radical media said the footage by unknown bully boyz appeared to be part of videos first released by the turbans online some 10 years ago, undermining the Pentagon’s explanation about its value.

Government
Trump Moves to Rollback Financial Regulation
[An Nahar] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
will on Friday move to roll back key reforms enacted in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, in what the White House sees as an effort to cut damaging red tape.

Officials say Trump will sign two executive actions asking the Treasury and the Labor Department to look into ways of reforming rules that were designed to make markets safer and give consumers more protection.

One order will ask the Treasury Department to identify possible changes to a package of financial reforms -- know as Dodd-Frank -- enacted in 2010 by president Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
.

Among other things, the legislation created the consumer financial protection bureau and required banks to keep more capital on hand to prevent over-leveraging.

The review will also target the so-called "Volcker Rule," which curbs some speculative investments.

"(We) believe that Dodd-Frank in many respects was a piece of massive government overreach," said a senior administration official, previewing the orders Trump will sign later Friday.

"It imposed hundreds of new regulations on financial institutions, it established an enormous amount of work and effort for financial firms," the official said.

Republicans have made no secret of their dislike for the consumer financial protections bureau, which looks set to be targeted in the review.

Any substantial repeal of Dodd-Frank would require congressional action, but the Trump White House is keen to send a signal that it is ready to slash red tape.

'We need to start killing people. We need to start killing the White House': Preschool teacher is caught on camera
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] An activist associated with the Black Lives Matter movement took to the megaphone to spew obscenities and voice her support for killing people.

At 1:50 in the video, shot on January 29 during an anti-Trump protest in Seattle's Westlake Park, the unidentified woman wearing a jacket with Black Lives Matter written on the back rants:

'And we need to start killing people. First off, we need to start killing the White House', says the woman, who claims she's a preschool teacher.

'The White House must die. The White House, your f***ing White House, your f***ing presidents, they must go! F*** the White House'.

As she said that, another protester in the crowd can be heard shouting, 'Burn it!'

She also rails against capitalism and calls for 'white people' to give 'black and indigenous people' their money and possessions.

She expresses her contempt for 'white people': 'Give your f***ing money, your f***ing house, your f***ing property, we need it f***ing all.

'F*** white supremacy, f*** the US empire, Kill the white house, f*** the white house, f*** your imperialist ass lives. That sh** gotta go'.

Among the more than four minute racial tirade, she shouts: 'Teach your kids to throw that f***ing cop car in the garbage'.

#6  The NEA and the teacher's union have accomplished one thing I never thought possible, turned my NYU educated oldest daughter away from the left. As a second career she recently became a Houston ISD middle school teacher. The male teacher in the adjoining classroom turns off the lights and along with his students plays on their phones all day. He even allows the students to order pizza, delivered to the classroom. When she complained, the principal shrugged her shoulders and said "It's the union."

Let's just say they are not going to become engineers. I can tell you the majority of rank and file teachers are 100% clueless about politics. ’s attack on a federal judge who issued a broad block on his travel ban would firm Democratic resistance to his nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

"The President's attack on Judge James Robart, a Bush appointee who passed with 99 votes, shows a disdain for an independent judiciary that doesn't always bend to his wishes and a continued lack of respect for the Constitution, making it more important that the Supreme Court serve as an independent check on the administration," Schumer said in a statement.

He added, "With each action testing the Constitution, and each personal attack on a judge, President Trump raises the bar even higher for Judge Gorsuch's nomination to serve on the Supreme Court. His ability to be an independent check will be front and center throughout the confirmation process."

Trump on Saturday morning lashed out against U.S. District Court Judge James Robart, who delivered a severe legal blow to Trump’s executive order limiting travel to the U.S. by citizens of seven Moslem-majority countries.

"The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!" Trump tweeted.

What a scoop! CBS News finds the Statue of Liberty was intended to be a Muslim woman, sort of
That headline is quite a stretch. It might seem timely, but it’s not breaking news that French sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi had at one time pitched the idea of a massive, draped sculpture holding a torch that would act as a lighthouse as the entrance to the Suez Canal.

That project obviously fell through, but Bartholdi held on to the idea and successfully re-pitched it -- hardly proof that the Statue of Liberty was "originally intended" to be a Muslim woman. It was a nice try, though.

Israel continues construction on separation wall in Hebron
[MAANNEWS] Israeli forces have reportedly finished a 10-kilometer section of the Israeli separation wall in the south of the occupied West Bank district of Hebron, Hebrew-language media reported on Saturday.

Hebrew-language site Walla reported that the order to complete the wall in the area came as a punitive response to a deadly shooting attack in Tel Aviv carried out in June last year by Paleostinians from the village of Yatta in Hebron.

According to Walla, the plan was set by the Israeli Defense Ministry and states that the separation wall would start from the Tarqumiya checkpoint in western Hebron to the Meter checkpoint in the south. The wall is 42-kilometers long and is erected on the side of bypass road 35, constructed for the use of settlers illegally residing in Paleostinian territory to connect them with Israel.

Iran: If Enemies Do Wrong, Missiles Will Come Down on Them
[An Nahar] Iran's missiles will come down on the country's enemies if they do wrong, a senior commander in Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard was quoted as saying in a Saturday report from semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, chief of the Guard's airspace division, said: "If the enemy does not walk the line, our missiles come down on them."

Hajizadeh's comments came during a Revolutionary Guard military exercise aimed at testing its missile and radar systems. The exercise was taking place in a 35,000-square-kilometer (13,515-square-mile) area in Semnan province in northern Iran.

The exercise comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's administration imposed sanctions on Iran in response to a recent missile test. The sanctions target more than two dozen people and companies from the Persian Gulf to China.

Tasnim said all the equipment used in the war game, including all defensive systems, radars, command centers and ground-to-air missile equipment, are designed and manufactured by Iranian scientists.

Iranian English language Press TV reported that Iran Senior Vice President Ishaq Jahangiri dismissed what he called recent anti-Iran posturing by the U.S. He said "threadbare" accusations are aimed by Washington at scaring away investors.

"The Iranian nation and authorities do not attach the least value to these remarks," he said.

Russian airstrikes kill 6 'Tahrir al-Sham' fighters in Idlib
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Russia's warplanes killed 6 rebel fighters on Friday in air strikes on the newly-formed Haya't Tahrih al-Sham alliance in Idlib province, local news hound said.

The aerial bombing hit a bastion for the formerly known as Nusra Front in Sarmin town, killing and wounding dozen.

Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
, or JFS, has dissolved in the 'Levant liberation' alliance, seeking to avoid the international coalition's air strikes, but that will never be a solution, activists said who went to streets, condemning the al Qaed's former group.

Fateh al-Sham acts as regime in regard to brutality and repression, residents say in Idlib countryside.

The group is opposing any peace solution as well it has been launching attaacks on moderate rebels.

Haya’t Tahri al-Sham announced the formation of a coalition including several factions located in northern Syria, including Fateh al-Sham and Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement, on 28 January 2017.

A source told Zaman al-Wasl that Jabhet Fateh al-Sham hurried to establish the Committee as a result of the International Coalition targeting the Jabhet Fateh al-Sham fighter training camp for al-Sheikh Suleiman brigade in Aleppo’s western countryside. The Coalition attack conducted on 20 January 2017, resulted in the killing of over 100 Jabhat fighters.

Meanwhile,
...back at the hanging, Butch continued with his last words, trying not to repeat himself too often......
representatives of the opposition arrived in Turkish capital Ankara to discuss the upcoming negotiation talks in Geneva, according to a Turkish diplomatic source.

The representatives of both the armed and the political opposition will attend a meeting at the Turkish Foreign Ministry later on Friday, the source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.

They are also expected to discuss the outcome of last month's Astana talks, which focused on extending the cease-fire that came into effect in Syria on Dec. 30.

Terror Networks
After Iraq losses, IS lashes out in Syria
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lions of Islam in Iraq are steadily losing ground. Iraqi forces successfully recaptured the eastern side of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
from the hard boys, forcing the group from Mosul University and advancing to the east bank of the Tigris River which divides the city in two.

All of Mosul's bridges across the Tigris have been destroyed either by IS or coalition Arclight airstrikes to prevent the movement of the other side. Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head...
the city’s western periphery is guarded by Shia Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitaries, who are preventing the Lions of Islam from easily evacuating to Syria.

Aside from Mosul the Lions of Islam only retain pockets of territory in Anbar province, where the Iraqis are on the offensive against them in the city of Hawija west of Kirkuk. IS has been unable to counter its incremental losses with new offensives. One attempt to stir-up chaos in Kirkuk and takeover the oil-rich city during the opening phases of the Mosul operation last October ended in abysmal defeat.

Consequently, the Lions of Islam have sought to lash out and launch fresh attacks in neighbouring Syria, where they have had some success in recent weeks.

That's not to say that the group is not under pressure in Syria. Last November the Arab-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia launched an offensive aimed at eventually retaking the group’s primary Syrian stronghold, the northeastern Syrian city of Raqqa.

SDF forces are currently advancing from the north to Raqqa's west, where they are hoping to take the strategically-important city of al-Tabqa on the Euphrates River. Syrian regime forces faced an embarrassing defeat when they attempted to seize al-Tabqa from the Lions of Islam last June, after being repelled by hundreds of IS reinforcements.

Today the SDF claim to have killed at least 620 of the Lions of Islam since beginning their offensive in early November. Faced with the prospect of losing all of Mosul, from where their leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
declared the formation of the so called "caliphate" in June 2014, and possibly losing Raqqa as well, the Lions of Islam have sought to attack elsewhere.

In mid-December they successfully recaptured the ancient city of Palmyra ‐ which they had previously overrun in May 2015, only to lose it in March 2016 to a Russian-backed Syrian regime advance. This time they are clearly compensating for their previous defeat by destroying parts of the city's Roman-era amphitheater. which.

Presently, in the eastern Syrian province of Deir az-Zour, IS is besieging Syrian regime forces in the lovely provincial capital, attempting to capture the city's military airport, a key Syrian military enclave there. For over two years now Syrian soldiers have fought an IS siege on that city, preventing the city from falling to the group.

The group’s offensive in Deir az-Zour this month is the deadliest and most significant in over a year. It has resulted in World Food Programme (WFP) aid air drops to the city's approximate 100,000 civilians halt for two weeks. Russia has responded by sending its large supersonic Tu-22 bombers all the way from Russia itself to bomb the Lions of Islam in an attempt to halt this offensive.

If the Lions of Islam manage to defeat the isolated Syrian Army enclave in Deir az-Zour and seize the city, they could set up an alternative headquarters to Raqqa there. Deir az-Zour is approximately 90 miles southeast of Raqqa and deeper into Syrian territory.

Its capture would give IS a little more strategic depth against the SDF, their most significant adversary on the ground in Syria, and also an opportunity to re-mobilize and re-organize if they were to lose Raqqa. An opportunity they have been successfully denied in Mosul.

The hard boy group could even potentially use Deir az-Zour as a launchpad for future incursions into Anbar, Iraq's aforementioned sparsely populated western Sunni Arab-majority province whose major cities, including its lovely provincial capital Ramadi, have been reduced to rubble from the offensives to rout them out.

IS has a long strategy of compensating for past losses of territory annexed into their caliphate by either launching fresh offensives or carrying out headline grabbing terror atrocities. For example, after they lost the Iraqi city of Tikrit in April 2015 they were successfully able to compensate for that by overrunning the lovely provincial capital of Anbar and the aforementioned Syrian city of Palmyra in May 2015.

Abyan has long been an al-Qaeda stronghold and it was only through a major offensive backed by a Saudi-led coalition last summer that the government was able to drive its fighters out of the province's main towns.

But the jihadists have faced some opposition from ordinary Yemenis.

"The al-Qaeda gunnies withdrew from Loder and Shaqra after protest demonstrations by residents," a local government official said.

"Residents made clear during the protests that they were ready to take up arms if necessary."

The jihadists' entry into the two towns on Thursday evening was helped by a pullout by government forces angry over the late payment of their wages, a security official told AFP.

"Our forces are also angry that they have not been provided with the weapons and other equipment to confront the jihadists, who have been stepping up their armed attacks," the official said.

Al-Qaeda gunnies set up roadblocks around the towns and blew up two security service buildings.

Saudi-led aircraft carried out two strikes on jihadist positions in Loder overnight, the official added.

Yemen forces cut off Houthi MSRs
Taiz- Considered one of the largest and most popularly crowded areas in Yemen, Hajjah Governorate has become a notorious target for coup militias. The area is home to substantial raw materials and unique topography.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants have their sight set on Hajjah, in hopes of dominating two of its vital districts Harad and Midi.

Bordered by the Red Sea, Hajjah receives great attention and effort of Yemen national army units seeking to curb the influx of arms supply to insurgency militias, said military officials and analysts. Hajjah also borders militia overrun capital Sana’a and acts as a main pump line for arms.

Midi and Harad are bordered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—Midi rests at the Red Sea’s coastal line, and shares maritime borders with the kingdom, a Yemen army official told Asharq Al-Awsat when explaining Hajjah’s strategic importance.

Such locations are considered military priorities, not only that but also effect the militias’ economic status—Houthi combatants have been taking advantage of the Midi coastal borders to receive Iranian support. But after securing control over Hajjah, coup militias now have another central supply route cut off, added the official.

Brig. Mohsen Khasrouf confirmed that the Midi and Harad are effectively under army control and pro-government forces, balancing the army’s military influence across the Saada, Hodeidah, and triangle.

Saudi-led Arab coalition air power pounded Houthi positions in Yemen’s western Hodeidah province, one day after Houthi militiamen reportedly attacked a Saudi warship.

Iran-backed Houthis and loyalists fighting on behalf ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, making up the insurgents, together save no effort in recapturing Hajjah, however it is a far reach, said Brig. Khasrouf.

He added that army units have locked down control over the districts falling on supply routes, but Houthis have planted moles, and land mines are woven throughout the districts’ infrastructures, which are still under clearance.

In some cases, Houthi militants have barricaded themselves in homes among civilians, said Brig. Khasrouf.

In 2014, the Houthis overran Sana’a and other parts of Yemen, forcing members of the country’s Saudi-backed government to temporarily flee to Riyadh.

The following year, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a major air campaign aimed at reversing Houthi military gains in Yemen and shoring up the pro-Saudi government.

Watch: 84 Lumber Released Portion of ‘Controversial' Super Bowl Ad Depicting Immigration, Border Wall
84 Lumber has already released some of its ad that had to be changed before airing in the Super Bowl after it was deemed by Fox to be "too controversial."

In the portion of the ad released Thursday, titled "The Journey Begins," a Mexican mother and daughter embark on a journey by foot, truck and train. At the end of the 90-second ad, 84 Lumber directs viewers to see the conclusion of the journey that has "content deemed too controversial for TV" to be available halftime of Sunday’s game.

The conclusion of the ad reportedly features a wall blocking people looking for work in the United States.

The spot approved by Fox to air in the game is supposed to air just before halftime.
Thinking maybe they should change their name to "86 Lumber?"

Woman films herself giving oral sex in courthouse
[NYPOST] A Florida woman recorded herself performing oral sex in a courthouse -- just before she was about to face a judge on drug-related charges, according to reports.
Well, don't that suck?
The woman posted the graphic Jan. 31 video -- taken in an empty hallway of the Duval County Courthouse -- to Twitter, with the caption, "Just found a way to get out of trouble," Action News in Jacksonville reported.

The woman, identified by the Daily Mail as 26-year-old Brittney Jones, also wrote, "That damn tongue got me in trouble again lol."

Officials said the man in the 34-second video, which was caught on courthouse surveillance, may be a security guard there.

Jones isn’t facing charges in the sex-act incident but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Integrity Unit is investigating.

The video has since been deleted.

Jones was in court for an arraignment stemming from her Jan. 19 arrest on possession of drug paraphernalia charges, the Florida Times-Union reported.

She pleaded no contest and was sentenced to time served, which amounted to two days in jail.

Mattis declares Iran the world’s biggest state sponsor of terroism
[The National] The US defence secretary James Mattis on Saturday called Iran the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world after the White House announced new sanctions linked to Tehran’s ballistic missile programme.

Iran responded to the sanctions by ramping up its rhetoric of defiance and carrying out missile defence exercises on Saturday.

The Iranian foreign ministry said Tehran would impose its own "legal limitations" on Americans that it said supported holy warriors in the region.

The missile defence exercise in Semnan province aimed to "showcase the power of Iran’s revolution and to dismiss the sanctions", according to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards website.

The tests were to be of short-range missiles with a 75km range, according to the site, and would display Iran’s "complete preparedness to deal with the threats" from the US.

The administration of new US president Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
was expected to take a harder line on Iran than Barack Obama
They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them...
, who sought to engage rather than contain the US adversary, but there has been a sharp escalation of rhetoric after a ballistic missile test and an attack by Iran-backed Yemeni rebels on a Saudi frigate last week.

"As far as Iran goes, this is the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world," Mr Mattis said in Tokyo.

Mr Mattis said the US has no plans to send more troops to the Middle East in response to Iranian missile tests.

"It does no good to ignore it. It does no good to dismiss it and at the same time I don’t see any need to increase the number of forces we have in the Middle East at this time," he said. "We always have the capability to do so but right now I don’t think it’s necessary."

Europe
Egyptian behind Louvre terror attack worked in Sharjah
[The National] The Egyptian man behind the machete attack on a soldier at the Louvre in Gay Paree worked in Sharjah and flew to La Belle France from Dubai last month.

The UAE has denounced the actions of Abdallah El Hamahmy, 28, a sales manager, who attacked guards at the museum.

"The UAE, while strongly condemning this hideous crime, affirms its full solidarity with the friendly French Republic and its support for whatever measures La Belle France may take to preserve the security and safety of its citizens and residents," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said on Friday night.

"We confirm our religious values and our human situation, which absolutely reject extremism, terrorism and crimes against innocent people."

El Hamahmy’s brother Ahmed, who works at the Ministry of Health in Dubai, was questioned by security officials for several hours, their father Reda El Hamahmy said yesterday.

The father, a retired police general, told of his disbelief at the attack and said his son, who is married with a seven-month-old child, showed no signs of radicalisation.

On Friday, he attacked soldiers guarding the museum, which has reopened to the public, but was shot five times and maimed. Hundreds of tourists were held in secure areas of the museum until the situation was under control.

"He went on a company trip and when it was over, visited the museum. He was supposed to leave on Saturday," the father said.

"The French government’s account is not logical. He was 1.65 metres tall and attacked four guards? And in the end they found nothing in his bags."
"The French government’s account is not logical. He was 1.65 metres tall and attacked four guards? And in the end they found nothing in his bags.

"He is a simple guy. We all love him. Our household is a moderate household and mind our own business."

The father said he believed the maimed suspect to be his son but this had not yet been confirmed.

"National Security came yesterday and asked for information about him, and I gave them whatever I had," Mr El Hamahmy said. "All I want is to know the truth and find out whether he is dead or alive.

"This is all a scenario made up by the French government to justify the soldiers opening fire. He is a very normal young man."

The attacker is believed to have entered La Belle France legally on a flight from Dubai on January 26.

French president Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
said "there is little doubt as to the terrorist nature of this act".

Investigators in Gay Paree said El Hamahmy was armed with two machetes and lunged at four patrolling French soldiers while shouting "Allahu Akbar".

One of the troops was slightly injured after being struck on the head, while a second soldier opened fire five times.

"The attacker fell to the ground seriously maimed," Gay Paree prosecutor Francois Molins said.

El Hamahmy’s condition stabilised overnight in a Gay Parisian hospital, a source said.

Investigators in Gay Paree are examining his Twitter account where he posted about a dozen messages minutes before the attack.

"In the name of Allah, for our brothers in Syria and fighters across the world," he said linking to a post he wrote on his Facebook page.

"No negotiations, no compromise, steadfastness and no retreat."

His Facebook page and Twitter account have since been suspended.

In another post on Twitter, he cited a Koranic verse that promises heaven to those who are killed fighting for the sake of God.

ISIS says Turkey’s safe zone in Syria aimed at preventing Kurdish state, pressuring Assad

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. ’s (ISIS) propaganda magazine Rumiyah, published on Saturday, suggests that the goal of Erdogan’s safe zone plan is to prevent a Kurdish state and pressure the Syrian government in the future.

The myrmidon group also said that in the future the Syrian rebels will have no choice but to surrender to Assad, or join the The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

-backed rebels in northern Aleppo and fight ISIS.

On August 24, the Turkish Army and allied rebels in Syria launched the so-called Euphrates Shield Operation under the pretext of combatting terrorism.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
Kurdish politicians and activists said that Turkey’s intervention in Syria was mainly aimed at attacking the Kurds, namely the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). It seems that the Islamic State agrees with this analysis.

"The taghut [tyrant] Erdogan and members of his apostate government increased in talking about the "Safe Zone," mentioning its being a means of preventing the establishing of the Kurdish state, to which the secular kafir PKK aspires," ISIS magazine said.

"As such, Turkey seeks to take control over the area stretching between Jarabulus and ’Azaz, covering more than 50 km of
land, which would prevent the areas ruled by
the apostate PKK snuffies east and west
of the Euphrates from joining together. Doing so, the Turkish murtaddin [apostates]
would make this area barrier to block Islamic State mujahidin from reaching their lands," the magazine added.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
according to the Islamic State, Turkey wants to control the area in northern Aleppo not only to destroy the Kurdish plans to unite their cantons, but also to weaken the Syrian government.

"Whoever scrutinizes the actual situation on the map and the ongoing political events in both Turkey and Sham [Syria] will recognize that the importance of this area to the apostate Turkish government far surpasses the issue of destroying the plans of the Kurdish state, despite its importance to them," ISIS said.

"This is because the Turkish army’s assertion of control over some part of Sham will be a means of great pressure on the Nusayri [Alawite] regime in the future, which will exceed the importance of controlling the many factions of the Sahwah murtaddin [anti-ISIS Syrian rebels] ‐ meaning that they will reap many rewards in a future withdrawal, no matter what kind of taghut [tyrant] government is set up in Damascus," the Rumiyah magazine said.

Moreover, the magazine added that Turkey’s partial control of northern Syria, with Russian and American air support, would prevent Assad from bombing it. "This would help Turkey to eventually rid itself of a large number of undesirable refugees (those who are disruptive or offer little benefit to Turkey) by opening refugee camps for them in this area. Such would also alleviate much of the great costs burdening the declining Turkish economy," the ISIS magazine said.

51 ISIS militants killed in Turkish airstrikes in Syria’s al-Bab
[ARA] The Turkish Airforce on Saturday launched several Arclight airstrikes on Islamic State

’s (ISIS) positions in al-Bab city in northern Syria, killing and wounding dozens of ISIS bad boys, officials said.

The Turkish Army’s Central Command said that its warplanes hit 59 ISIS positions in al-Bab, killing at least 51 ISIS fighters.

"Saturday’s air raids led to the destruction of 56 ISIS-held buildings and three command centres in al-Bab city and the nearby town of Baza’a," the Turkish Army said in a statement.

"51 snuffies were confirmed dead in the strikes, including three leading members of the [ISIS] group," it added.

This comes amid continued military operations by Turkish forces and allied rebel fighters of the Euphrates Shield Brigades in the vicinity of al-Bab, in an effort to take the city from ISIS.

Abu Iad al-Shami, a member of the Euphrates Shield Brigades, told ARA News that their fighters expelled ISIS from major parts of eastern al-Bab.

"Supported by a Turkish air cover, our forces seized control of key areas in eastern al-Bab, closing in on ISIS inside the city," al-Shami said.

Also, the rebel groups and Turkish army forces on Saturday captured the al-Shamawiya al-Hammah village in southern al-Bab after festivities with ISIS, military sources told ARA News.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

and its rebel allies have been bogged down in al-Bab for almost two months, taking significant casualties without securing any of the city’s neighborhoods. ISIS constructed a warren of tunnels and an extensive trench line in anticipation of the fighting.

Trump's Unilateral Option
Nobody wants to "Declare World War III." But there are extreme options available to the United States to influence events in Iran that fall short of invasion, or of bombing Iranian assets. Am I wrong to think that our military can create deprivation for the Mullahs without touching a single inch of Iranian territory?

Where are the shortfalls in this scenario?

Iraq
ISIS security kommander dies in Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A senior Islamic State security commander was killed on Saturday in a rocket shelling northeast of Baqubah, a security source in Diyala has said.

The source told Alsumaria News that Islamic State’s official in charge of security at the militants’ living quarters in Hamreen Basin, Abu Mohamed al-Iraqi, was killed along with a companion in a rocket attack by Al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) on Friday at Wadi al-Thalab region (132 Km northeast of baqubah).

Al-Iraqi, originally a citizen of al-Shirqat town, had recently moved to Hamreen Basin to supervise security at the militant group’s living quarters, and is a third-tier leader, according to the source, who asked not to be named.

PMUs have been actively fighting Islamic State on the Iraqi government’s side since the group emerged in 2014.
