#2 From an article in the Washington Post,
"...sources say that thanks in part to tips from Jordanian intelligence, U.S. forces captured Zarqawi at least twice over the past several years but let him go because they failed to identify him." Not confident it's true, but .....

#3 I just spent about 15 minutes dissecting this article to show why this is just a very carefully worded piece to make it sound like ol' Sparky's still around - and I could do a darn good job of communicating it to you, if I wanted to spend another 15 minutes to make my point crystal clear.

But there must be some reason why both sides play this ridiculous game of "searching for Where's Waldo
Elvis
Zarqawi" when we know he was seriously injured and most likely died (I suppose it's possible he was captured too but the initial reports last summer indicated dead)

So, from this point forward, I'm just going to give it up and allow everyone to see what the writer wants you to see in this article. Let the game of charades continue. Far be it from me to want to spoil a good party.

#4 Or perhaps the CIA are giving Z tips to keep the pressure on Bush?

#5 It would be irritating to confirm that this mutt is still vertical. Best approach - remove his identity COMPLETELY from all further press reports. Have his name die off - who cares about the cripple himself. Without a reputation, this scumbag is a nobody. Let him die as a nobody, whose corpse goes out with the trash.

#6 Why would it be in the interest of the Terrs to announce Zarq is stable? And why would the US do it without the body?

#7 good comments all. I guess in the game of cross, double cross, triple cross and quadruple cross, there is advantage in manipulating the truth to any benefit you can eek out of it.

I like this idea best: Have his name die off. ha, ha. Then he'd just be nothing ....or they would have to name a successor, whom we would promptly wack. But then, we've done a pretty good job of wacking his senior advisors anyway.

As what's her face used to always say, whatever. The truth may be out there - but we aren't going to get it anytime soon.
