#2 Fox Butterfield is the NY Times reporter who always marvels at the fact that crime is going down as the prison population is going up. They'll probably assign him to analyze this story.

It's inconceivable to me that detaining that many suspects has not disrupted planning and communications for Al Queda and contributed to the fact that the US has not been hit for a while. It will happen, of course, but the must severely reduce the frequency.

#5 The important number is the 14,500 still in custody. Add those to the 50,000 KIA in Iraq, perhaps 15,000 KIA in Afghanistan, and maybe another 10-20,000 KIA around the world.

In other words, we have eliminated the better part of 2 CORPS of enemy from a dozen countries in this fight, and to a great extent, Islam's most potentially dangerous and belligerent.
